[LWP][Dev]Skrillex Audio Visualizer [12/1/8][v1.0] - Android Software Development

Hey, XDA, been awhile and I had gotten some request for this. I finally have it in a condition that I think is worthy of a beta release. The major parts are finished, it's now just a matter of adding visuals and ironing out any bugs that may come up.
Check it out and enjoy, let me know what you think.
Code:
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="7" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS"/>
<uses-feature android:name="android.software.live_wallpaper" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>

v0.2 update
Hey XDA, Happy New Year!
My first post of the new year, here's another update which includes more visuals for the "cell" as well as one additional for the backing. I'm still heavily working on the visuals for the backing so expect more to come.
It's also still a bit buggy with freeze ups. If you have access to logcat I'd very much appreciate some logs when it freezes it. I try to do as much exception handling as possible to avoid FCs. I managed to get the RAM usage down considerably but that is also one of the causes for freeze ups occasionally.
Other things I can think of include a color change of the stage and backing, I darkened it to make the visuals more visible.
I'm very interested in anyone who has ICS on their phone as I think they changed or broke the side scrolling so I may have to look into that.
Enjoy!
Edit: Found a bug almost as soon as I posted this, it's updated again!

Its sideways on my Xperia Play, ill post a screenshot if you want, definitely looks weird

Yeah some screens would be nice. I'm not sure why it would be displaying sideways.

v0.3 update
Hey again XDA,
Here's the latest build! Added a few more visuals and got rid of the invisible buttons on the edges of the screen. It's getting close to market release =] Let me know what you think and if there's any issues.

First release
Here's the first release of the Skrillex LWP. I'm giving it to XDA free of charge for being a great community =] I hope you guys enjoy and I will post updates as they become available.

Kejar,
You do some amazing work! I really enjoy the look and feel of your work, but I'm still not one to do ROM's yet. I am trying to learn the basic's of just getting themes and creating images for the themes before I jump in too deep =)
The reason I originally asked about extracting out the rotary lock as I figured you had built this from source like you did with GummyJAR. I appreciate your quick responses, as I know many devs have a lot going on, and cannot always reply immediately.
If I send you a PM, would you mind answering a few questions for me? I'm trying to jump in to themes, and eventually ROM's, and hopefully be able to give back to the community the same way you have.
Thanks again, appreciate the help and work!
Using GJ 2.1 and its fantastic. But what bugs me is the Zoom icon when browsing the web. Pinch to zoom is great. Don't really need the onscreen zoom icon. Its just annoying.

Been running GJ2.1 for about a week now, switched from TranQ 3.6. Just want to thank you for the best ROM I've ever used. What a pleasure to have no random reboots. My DX is now as bulletproof as my Mac, the system will run forever if I don't reboot it.
Looking forward to GJ2.5.
Thanks
I just wanted to say thanks for the great GummyJar ROM. The best so far since my dipping into the ROM world. Thanks again!
I agree. GummyJAR is also the best ROM I have used to date and it just keeps getting better . Thanks for you work Kejar.

Overall it's pretty functional
Changing the clock theme caused issues so I'm not sure it's all theme related items
Chrome Beta is a no go until I change one more thing in the build.prop
Default wallpaper is too small. Will change later.
Please let me know what else you find

i have always like MIUI roms, really a pity that launcher has no landscape mode, an inherent 'characteristic' of MIUI roms.
i dont really mind this when using MIUI on phones as they are being used mostly in portrait (at least for me).
however, since my primary use of TP is for reading and usually in landscape mode, i am sorely missing a rotatable launcher, pity really ...
Couldn't you just use adw? It's ICS compatible so should, in theory, get rid of the problem. But obviously at the cost of losing the miui launcher

I'm no dev, and I don't like to be a negative nelly, but you're trying to take a piece from Sense UI and make it work in AOS/KP. Two very different beasts making it a tough challenge to pull off right. It would be nice, but it probably won't happen.
I know this isn't what you asked for, but since what you asked for is pretty unlikely to happen, I thought I'd offer this as an alternative.
I use Swiftkey-3 as my keyboard, and it is a fantastic keyboard aside from the fact that it has an option for showing arrows.
Here is a screenshot just so you know what it looks like.
It might get you what you want in a very easy way, easier than trying to flash a sense keyboard over an aosp rom.
Plus it has several themes which look nice. This one looks really good with ICS I think.

What version of Swiftkey ? I have v1.1.91 ... just got it from the Amazon store 1-2 days ago. I see no option for turning on arrows, nor does mine even look like that. That looks like a stock Android keyboard while mine is rather HTC-Sense-looking (larger buttons, light gray color, etc).

You have to go to options, and the theme section. Different themes will change the color. Also the arrow option is in the theme section.
Your version is old, it may not have all of that. I am using 3.0.4.343
I bought it back on the old version and I upgraded for free, but I bought it on the google market, not sure how amazon handles updates like that.
My version is 2 upgrades newer than yours I think. First there was your version, SwiftKey, then Swiftkey-X then Swiftkey-3.
Yeah, that's the problem. I actually got it for free from Amazon. Later, it appeared that maybe Swiftkey pulled the app 'cause you couldn't update it. Seems that the version after mine was Swiftkey-X and they weren't doing upgrades between "major" versions.

Swiftkey x has the beta before they made it Swiftkey 3. I used it for a while and I actually bought Swiftkey 3 when they finalized it because Swiftkey x was good and now I don't use Swiftkey because it got really sole for some reason.

That stinks. But I think it's only a few bucks on the Google Market, so it might be worth it to you.
Get SwiftKey-3 if you do, not X.

I don't think its a tough challenge at all as long as u make it a separate app not a flashable zip that modifies the default touch input keyboard which aosp roms don't have.
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844512. It works great. It just doesn't have arrows
Arrows are the must for me. Use them to go back and forth to edit the misspelled words in the messages I type.

GET IT HERE
Hii, all. First of all this is just a preview of offline charging animation. :angel:
Why am i doing this?
Well i think theres almost no custom charge animations (or i dont like them). So i decided to make some minimal and fresh charge animations. Im at school and made these three for now (Gonna make many more, because more we got, better it will be). I got some free hours between the lessions and im bored
Modern, minimal and creative is what i will mostly focus on, maybe requests too.
Please vote on the poll if you guys want this !! (15 days duration)

Also is the colour issue could be related to output profile, like CMYK or RGB, but if you didn't open or edit them, can't think what the problem would be, I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to android.

What about the bit depth? It's not 8bit is it?
Also whereabouts can I find the files on my phone, can each one be a gif?

I didn't mean the whole thing, I thought if you could have each image as a gif, you could add little glowing effects or something. Thanks for the link, I'm sure the info was on here before but it vanished? :/

Wow. That's really cool. Hopefully it doesn't drain too much battery

Its created by roman nurik and I'm sure he taken into account of battery. I've been using it for a couple of hours and battery is still good!

Sure, I bet he did, but it's still a live wallpaper that needs to download images and use the CPU to blur them. It's probably not too much though.
Would only drain battery while the wallpaper is showing. Although using their featured images would have to connect once a day, I doubt the battery drain would be much.

Thanks installed it and loving it so far. I really like how it will change the wallpaper daily for me. And it seems like it wouldn't use nearly as much battery as a constantly moving lwp.

The CPU doesn't actively need to be used to blur (it could just be a blurred overlay and the opacity cycles to transition).
Additionally, I use it, and since I have it using local images only, it doesn't take a hint of battery. Unless you manually change it, all the wallpapers it cycle through are blurred by default.
Nice find!!! Lovin'it!!
Only question is if any one knows which calender app the screenshot of the app shown in the GP is by any chance??
It looks so good!!

That would be this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.underwood.agenda
It's not an app, it's a widget.

You're welcome. It's quite a pretty widget and really shines on blurred wallpapers.
Woow, simply fantastic
Hypothetically...
If one were to develop a plugin for Muzei, where would one start? I'm art professional and I think this has a lot of potential as a platform for museums and galleries! But I am new to development so how should I approach this... Thanks and if it's posted in the wrong place kindly refer me to where I have to ask! :angel:
Is it just me or this LWP takes 150 MB of RAM :what:
