Increase Recovery layout.. USB connector broken. - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi guys,
to make it short. My USB connector is broken, not usable anymore. Dead. I mean its not even build in..
i still have a recovery layout flashed.. its about 150mb. Now i want to try ICS and asking myself if there is any way to flash CWM without connecting my mobile to pc via usb..
or is there an other way? is there a way to delete some files out of the zip file? and if yes, how to do it correctly and which apps im allowed to delete without problems?
any suggestion are more then appreciated

Yes their is in fact an easy way. I wrote a guide for it . its linked in my signature.

[Q] restore to stock without usb?

Can anyone advise of a method to restore to stock DI01 without USB?
My usb is terminally inoperative (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898276) and I will have to restore to get warranty service.
Odin does not appear to be an option since it will not detect the phone. I can use adb over wifi, I can push files to the sd card. Everything works except usb.
Thanks in advance...
if i were you i would get on IRC and ask for help...
or if you have insurance... think about going that route...
sorry man that sux.
I dont know if you fixed it or not, but here is a stupid question. Are you using the cable that came with your phone? I have several cables that will only charge my phone and only the stock one enables data transfer. Hope this helps.

Few issues (Totally NooB

Hey guys i have an issue trying to make the phone recognize the PC. ThePC recognizes with no problem everytime I put the data cable in the phone and PC but the device doesnt give me options to connect to PC.
Is that a normal bug withing BIOX-v 1.3.1? Is there anything I can try?
I want to flash a new Kernel but with out access to the sd card is many things I cant do.
Any ideas?
The phone tells me is connected but is actually NOT at my PC.
Did you mount your sd card when you plug in the usb cable? Just use the pull down menu when you connect and select mount. If this doesn't work, there was a flashable fix from team whiskey in the development forum. I'm on my phone, so can't search and post link as the search on the xda app sucks royally.

I read an article about an app like the one u talking about. II have read so much that I cant even recalled where it was. If you can point me to it later I will appreciate mate.
Thanks
Also have notice that I cant install or un-install apps as it takes for ever loading the process but no success
Any ideas what is wrong
My first suggestion is to reflash your ROM. Occasionally something doesn't quite sit right the first time.

YES i have the nandroid backup of stock firmware 2.1 in my internal sd card....but i need stock 2.1 kernel to get it working ....
i have the same problem my selfe.. win 7 64bit cant install drivers.. every driver says just "unknown device", if i force install a driver, it comes up with no 10 error.. cant start the device..
i have CF-root 3.1 and docs jvb 2.1, with no usb connection at all...
i had the same problem.. at home and at work i couldn't connect to a pc.. but i connected before on these pc's..
what solved my problem was to connect my phone to a pc where i never connected to.. so without any drivers.. after that my pc recognized it again.

so you are saying the problem lies in the phone, and not on the computer? cause, i have uninstalled the drivers and rebooted.. so it should be as a "new pc"..??
I had to install some drivers that I have downloaded somewhere to make it work. You should start by that
EDIT : was probably those one : http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x64.shtml

I can confirm, that your capslock is working! Well done!
Do you have samsung kies installed? You need that for your drivers
I'm pretty sure you just need the drivers and not Kies. Well I don't have Kies anyway. Have a look for "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_x86.exe" ... that's what I used. No crappy Kies.
Call me stupid, but have u enabled debugging mode?

after reading this i cleaned my usb port ,,still i cant mount my internal sd card in MY system.....BUT THE GREAT NEWS IS USB WORKS FINE IN DOWNLOAD MODE NOW..!!!
I FLASHED STOCK 2.2 FIRMWARE ,I CAN CLAIM WARRANTY NOW.!!
i hope it will help those who have same issue with the usb..
Tnx,peeps. But still no luck. Same problem on another PC, so it must be a rom/kernel flash ****up..

am i missing something here ??
your phones are working right ? just no usb connectivity ??
easiest way would be : download required ROM, copy onto a external sd card using a card reader (who doesnt own one ?? ) boot phone, copy to internal, boot into recovery and flash the .zip
sounds simple to me
Yea, that's whats odd. Phone works just fine, but no USB Conn. So I can't flash with Odin, or transfer files to and from computer. All happened after I installed cf-root.

Problem with updating Android 1.6 to 2.1

Hi All.
I've got a problem with updating my phone. No matter what I do, the computer doesn't see it and the phone doesn't see computer. I've tried different drivers and nothing helped. On the phone there isn't any sign, that it's connected to anything and the computer doesn't show anything too. There isn't even any sound, that indicates that something has been connected to the computer. I've got Windows 7 64bit.
I hope that somebody will know what could be the problem.
Try a different usb port? Damaged USB cable(maybe..)
I've tried on 3 computers. Is it possible that the cable is broken if it charges the battery??
Update:
At last I've got 2.1 on my phone. There was something wrong with the cable or USB port. I had to keep the cable with my hands that it wouldn't disconnect.

USB uses different wires for power and data, so although your phone is charging one of the wires that transfers data could have been damaged so it would charge but not transfer any data.
As for your edit, that was dangerous, if it had disconnected you would have bricked your phone, I would invest in a new cable before I attempt to use a damaged one especially for flashing firmware, stock or custom.
I'll buy a new cable and see if the cable was broken or the USB port. I'm lucky that everything is OK. I'll wait until I'll change something in my phone.
I've got one question. Is there any way to install applications on SD card??
Multiple ways.
I'm thinking about updating to Android 2.3, does it have the possibility to install apps on SD card??

[Q] HUGE problem installing ubuntu

So I decided to try the ubuntu rom out, and silly me, I wrote on top of the back up I had done of my rom; and now I've got the N7 with the ubuntu rom installed and no back up accesible to backup to an android rom....
Is there a way to flash any rom from the recovery menu? if there's, please tell me how... because the computer doesn't recognize the N7 when I plug it in, so I cant just copy a .zip to flash it...
PLEASE tell me there's a way to undo this and that I have not bricked my device... please, tell me there's a way.... :crying:
Thanks in advance.
