Who remembers Syndicate Wars?

Hey. was wondering if anyone remembers Syndicate Wars, and more importantly, if it had been re-made for Windows Mobile (or similar) would be a awsum project!
Syndicate Wars
Yeah, with the futuristic cops?
I was thinking about this about a week ago.
Couldnt even remember the name to go checking though...
I think I shall be consulting the oracle.... ...Google
Syndicate Series PPC
Google is all seeing:
http://www.pinoytechblog.com/archives/blast-from-the-past-syndicate
It seems that Pinoy Tech are already working on a port for us.
Sweet !! Used to love that game
nice that will be awsum!
Now that brings back A LOT of memories. Can't wait for the port!!
Syndicate wars????? Pah!!!! I remember when it was just called Syndicate (showing my age now)
Anyone ever Pseudotron the whole city and then get into a car, then blow up the car?
Awesome flaming masses of screaming people.. =)
I would love to see syndicate on my PPC

Am I showing my age if I say I remember it too? And how dissappointing was the ending!!!!
I think I still have a copy of Syndicate somewhere on my 386, time to get out the duster...
- 386sx
- 24Mhz CPU
- 4MB RAM
- 400MB HD
- 256KB Graphics
Damn, all the great memmories, Prince of Percia, Lemmings, DOOM, etc,etc,etc...
Yup, I remember it... that would be an awesome port!
Syndicate wars was awesome.
Possibly the only game ive played on a compuserve demo disk and then bought!!
Reckon I could code my Tytn to act like a 'persuadatron' ??
DAMN YOU ALL TO THE DARKEST CORNERS OF HELL!!!
You had to remind me of that game it was on my mind all day i couldnt get a single bit of work done all day i was wondering if it was possible to get it to run on my wizard. So ive been searching last 2 hours to finally find a damn version of syndicate (the first version it was smaller and lighter on requirments) and now im trying to see if i can get it to using one of the ms-dos emulators available next i might try to use that SCUMMVM thing ( there goes the rest of my night i hope u are happy)
Will post results as soon as i can so pray for it everyone.
Oh i did find a megadrive/ sega genasis rom version of syndicate that i was able to run on picodrive but it didnt have the same feeling as the dos game and also it would seem to randomly hang on using it.
ok i had some success i was able to start tthe game using dosbox atleast the intro started (with sound) but then it crashed back to windows.
Will try some more work on it and see what i can do.
any knowlegable person willing and able to help cuz i barely know squat about this stuff and am flying by the seat of my pants as they say
ok its almost 2:30 and i have to be up by 7 ( i hate monings) anyway i was mistaken dosbox can run syndicate. i was able to start it up and start the game only problem is that my poor wizard isnt strong ( fast) enough to run this game in emulation
i tried it on scummvm but couldnt make it work ( i copied all the data files into one folder and pointed scummvm to it but it kept on complaing no game found)
Somebody help this addict( meaning me).......find me a way to run my game properly and not click and wait as my old dial up used to be ( just reading my e- mail was a pain in the ass)
come on oh great developers please spare some brain energy on this lowly matter!
Not very related, but similar to syndicate, UFO 2 was also one of my all time favourite game... and lucky for me, it's available on PPC with fast performance... and extremely addictive... lol
mind sharing a link to the game ?( no warez just a description)
It's called PocketUFO.

Music ID Application

Hi people, thought I would share a new application I found using "Omarket", for those who don't know what it is, its like windows market place but most of the cabs are free ware and actually made by some guys round here. Its pretty cool. The music identification application is called "Midomi"
I was using MusicID but this linked in with Shazam and so eventually it expired and wanted cash- aye right. Anyway I found this this app and I`m very happy with it. Basically, "hum a tune" or let it listen (grab) a tune for 10 secs, it then tells you what it is but ALSO gives you a preview of the song just so you are sure. Really am quite impressed with this and want you guys to get the benefit too. You may have heard of gracenote - similar thing.
Have tested it using TV and radio songs so far 100%, however it will never get my weird 60's psych stuff or my bad singing voice :/
Omarket Link

It's been out for around a year now, and yes, I agree it's a good bit better than Music ID.
Hi azahoth,
Thanks for the heads up.
very nice app...
tested it with about 10 songs, and some of them arent really famous
but midomi found out every song
really useful and good to delete discussions at the tv, when everybodys asking "what song is that?"

weird, i just tested with billie jean by michael jackson and it came out as weezer - spider.
does ambient noise affect the results significantly?

Did you sing or play it?
Ambient noise may interfere but bear in mind what it is actually doing; its cross referencing the results with like a million formants or "peaks" of millions of songs it can give strange results sometimes. Sing "yellow submarine" by the beatles, that's a good example of how it does work with general tracks. Not sure how it would stand in a club but better the microphone, better the results imo
I use Shazam Encore. Works pretty good.

No man, please, only post app's you have tested
And no links to warez or other websites like them!!
(I don't think this is a legal website?!)
OpenTTD works like a charm on 1.2
I will test it on 1.3 too when I have time to upgrade. But I see no reason why it would not work.

I'm Sorry, i didn't realize that the site was illegal , i saw the link in the Toshiba Forum and at first it looked okay. I already unistalled all the apps i have downloaded.
I was wondering how people are able to download payed apps from within 1.3 foliomod. Do you know any legal site to do that?
Regards and again please excuse me for my mistake.

hehe if you want you can install illegal app's, i don't care
It's just the link that is bad for everyone, because that way mod's can understand it as 'spreading and promoting illegal software'
You are right
I just updated dungeon defenders and i must say its much faster and stable now! This game is awesome, a must buy in my opinion! Great graphics, amazing gameplay, and for 2.99 is a bargain. Better than many expensive console games.

Could you make a review? Because I don't understand the game and the goals :s
The game objective is to defend the cristals from the evil creatures that were accidentally released from inside one of this crystals were the anciens had locked them a long time ago. You have to place defenses and traps in stratagic points to keep the cristal safe. You will need mana to cast this defenses, and you get it by resisting through this waves of creatures. You also can improve or upgrade this defenses. When you are ready you touch the cristal and the enemy starts the attack. If the crystal is destroyed you lose. You get weapons and armour by defeating this bad guys and by openning treasure chests... there are lot of variations and options you can try. When your hero defeat a series of waves we eventually goes to another room. By the way you can see the number and type of this creatures by stepping near the doors.

i wanna add a little tip to this great review, you can swap your hero in the build phase so you can diff types of deffence like those spike things with some kind of gun or trap behind it from one of the other hero's, also if when you swap heros you can drop the mana they have before you swap so the one you swap to can pick it up
as for apps i have found to work well
My Movies - movie database program
Pulse - rss newsreader
Tv Show Favs - to keep track of what tv show episode i have watched.
Tweetdeck - twitter app
Winamp - music player, though have not tested wifi sync being a linux user.

Earthbound! Chrono Trigger!!

Ever since I got my G1, the thing that has been synonomous with my android phone is retro gaming with emulators. It's actually one of the biggest reasons I will only buy an android phone with a keyboard, ergo I upgraded to Vision.
Shout outs for Earthbound and Chrono Trigger anyone?
If you've never played those games, do yourself a hugely enjoyable favour and buy super gnes or snesoid from the market and start playing them now!
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I've got the roms on my evo. Haven't tried any emulators on the g2 yet. chrono trigger its one of my favorite games of all time. Earthbound is just goofy.
Swyped from my evo 4g using the xda app.
Did you ever finish earthbound? It gets pretty messed up by the end lol. I've used both the *oid emulators and super gnes. IMO super gnes works better; the music keeps playing even though sometimes things get slowed down. Snesoid would do weird things with the sound when the game would slow down. Perhaps it's been fixed since then.
One note is to always save games via emulator, but also save ~inside~ the game too. That way the savegame from within the game is on your sd card in case you install a new rom or need to wipe for another reason.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Never got to far on earthbound but I did finish trigger. Also secrect of the mana was a great game. I don't have the patients to finish rpg's like I use to but they don't make rpg's like they used to.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
It's true, they don't make them like that any more. About 2/3rds of the way through earthbound it gets all psychedellic and psychological and has a really gratifying end. I actually just finished it right now haha.
Maybe I'll do secret of mana next, since I've had that rom on my phone for a while
But speaking of roms, I'm off to try the latest gingervillain! I'm pretty hooked on virtuous, but last time I checked in on what the villain was up to, it was quite promising!
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
The only thing I really don't like about emu's on the G2 right now is the way the key mapping works. I wanted my D pad to be:
UP = Q
Left = .com
Right = A
Down = menu
But it wont let me choose those buttons. So I have to use W-S-Z-A. It's easier to track where your thumb is by the edge of the phone.
I wont be buying the game gripper because I have a case. I've thought about buying one anyways and modding it to fit but I really don't want to just throw away $20 right now.

yup, SOM is better then chono and earthbound
Final fantasy 7 beats em all.
Ff7 is where all the retards started playing because of the 3d graphics.
Ff6 had a better plot, story line, and probably the best soundtrack of any video game ever. Just look at any "greatest of all time games" list, sabin would slam cloud game anyday with a bumrush hahah
US ff2 was also really really good.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I liked cloud, I mean rpg's had to go 3d at some point even if it was best to stay at 2d. There has been a bunch of good 3d rpg's.
Swyped from my evo 4g using the xda app.
Ya, I'm definitely going for secret of mana next. Good times all around.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I have actually not played FF7. I still have the game and manual from when I bought it years ago.
I started playing FF8 and fell in love with that.
what emulator
what emulator is the best for the G2? and where are you guys finding roms?
Snesoid and super gnes both work really well. I think snesoid has a rom search engine inside it. That should help ya find stuff

I wasnt slamming on the graphics, I didnt like the story. If you like rpgs play jpn ff6/us ff3. It beats ff7 on every "best games of all time" list ive seen.
Alot of people say the ff7 is one of the most overrated games of all time.
Then again most of the time it comes down to which games you played as a kid. SNES was and still is the best system for me, followed by N64. Not nes since I wasnt really skilled enough at that age. Born in 84.
No, but I'm always on the lookout for a new one. Thanks!
I decided to play Mother 3, since I just finished earthbound, but I'm going to play secret of mana probably next. Then terranigma? I like having games to look forward to

Classic Games
Earthbound - great game, ending was amazing... Had never heard of it until a friend of mine spent like $40 on ebay to buy a copy!
Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Evermore, FF3 (FF6) etc.. All Square (now SquareEnix) and all great games. When Square said they were not making games for the N64, but for Sony's PlayStation, I got a PS
Other RPGs (aside from the epic Link to the Past ). Lufia series (starts with Fortress of Doom), Breath of Fire, RoboTrek (very cartoony and 'PokeMon'-like... Developed by the same company that made Terranigma)
Don't forget the original phantasy star on genesis and sega cd. I liked the first super mario rpg. That was goofy but fun.
