[Q] Camcorder fps? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Recently I've been trying different NAND roms for my EU HD2. I've tried a number of those like below.
- TyphooN CyanogenMod 7
- Sensation XL Stk S3.5[2.3.5]v1.3
- RCMix3D Runny v4.0.2 [Official Runny Sense 3.5]
Only those without Sense 3.5 has higher fps. I don't think that's something to do with the hardware itself. Any idea?
Regards,
thardaway

Your trying to run something sense 3.5 that wasn't designed for our hardware. It will lag, seeing as sense is most power hungry. I mean 100mb of free ram, with cm7 I have 290mb free ram.
You'd be better off with cm7 or a sense 2.1.
Might try some other camcorder apps in market to see if it lags the same.

Sense builds require much more cpu and memory to run. The more power needed to run the system means the less power something with less priority will get. I am not a developer, but I'm quite sure thats the problem. With nonsense builds you have much more cpu and memory to use on the camcorder.
Hope this helps.

Thank you both! Yeah and I got it now. Plus the reason of power consumption, I am now back to CM7 only which works like a charm.
After all, it is still worth a trial on different NAND ROMs. I appreciated all their efforts and bring in so much fun for me (and hopefully for others).
My next attempt will be on MIUI builds, seems like performance is okay. Any idea?

[Q] How to keep Sense running smooth? Maintenance routine for Android on HD2?

Dudes,
I've been running Android on HD2 for a few weeks now and it's great so far - it's basically like a Desire HD for half the price. But I've been having a problem in regards to keeping the Sense UI running smooth after a few days, no matter what build I try (this is why I'm posting in general)
I've tried Imilka's Desire Z, Rafdroid HD 4.0.2, Rafdroid HD Light 3.2 SQ and CMYLXGO Light. So far, CMYLXGO seems like it's the smoothest, but I'm still experiencing significant slow down and jerkiness of the Sense UI after a few days.
Are there any maintenance routines or tweaks I can try to keep Sense running smooth?
I'm sure there's something in regards to
-cache cleaning
-ram cleanup
-reboot routines etc
that I could try, but I'm not sure where to start, and I'm kinda iffy about using a task killer
Any ideas would be great, especially if we can make this a resource thread for people with the same question
thanks,
zuka
Less apps installed
Less memory usage for micro sd
Keep the internal memory little used. Like eight hundred or more megabytes free
Just my two cents
That's a good idea in theory, but I've got an EU HD2 with 512mb of internal memory. With CMYLXGO Light installed and every possible app moved to the SD card, I have 20 megs of free internal storage.
Would creating an EXT3 partition on my SD card have any effect in speeding up the phone by allowing it to use it for internal memory, or does that not work in every rom? (Derp: Just checked and Cmylxgo DHD doesn't support data2ext. Sorry)
Well just to point out. Desire hd and z roms aren't really smooth. Unless there has been a significant improvement from the last time I tried, which was 3 weeks ago, yeah. So yeah, just pointing out that you can't ask for it to be something it isn't.
My point is that on first install, and even after installing all apps, the build is significantly smoother than it becomes over the next few days. I suspect there's some kind of way to clear out caches etc to make it run at a stable speed over time, so i'm just checking if anybody has any tips
As the sense version number increments it get more bloated and eats up more space and memory.
What I recommend is desire/bravo ( not desire hd or z ). It's an older version of sense that has some advantages in my oppinion:
- no htc hub, htc likes, htc crap
- timestamp on picture
- occupies less space
- runs faster.
- the battery is ok
So, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992430
The desirez and dhd builds are not smooth in general.
I use Skinks Clean Desire and ist very smooth. Only disadvantage is that it hasn't the new sense 2.1 features.
The nest best things to hope for are the new roms coming now. With Gingerbread and sense 2.1 based of the desire s or incredible s.
For now i can recommend Imilkas Vivo build. Almost everything is working.

Best Sense Rom HD2

Do you guys have any thoughts on what the most stable and smoothest Sense right now for HD2...Tried COreDroid ...really slow and buggy...thanks...
sense 2.1 , 3 and 3.5 has some problems. so you can try rafdroid desire hd with sense 2.0 (or some other roms with sense 2.0).
but of course cm7 and miui roms much more smoother and faster.
I think its best sense rom. May you try it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259110
But i think every sense rom in hd2 little laggy and slow.
I agree with mmmmm10 the Sense roms are fast at first and start getting slow as you install more apps.
I suggest the Boyppc/miui roms as a good/fast substitute for sense roms
If you want to stay with sense. Rafdroid is a good solution
check this one. its stable and very smooth

This is by far the best sense 3.5 around, and if you use it with Mikhei777 kernel then it's even better, superfast, smooth, no glitches and everything works although the camcorder is still laggy.
Check out my signature it is perfect ROM, I'm using it from long time, very stable and fast.

Best Sense ROMs?

Hello fellas...
Which is/are the best Sense NAND ROMs for HD2? I am looking for one which runs smoothly, without any critical bugs and which is not laggy. Thanks!
There is none. All of them are somewhat laggy... you just have to play around and see which one works the best for you.

My Main problem with any ROM is the Camcorder LAG
Does this one fix it?? Plz reply as I've been always fan of haldric ROMs but always been shocked as the camcorder laggy performance.... Help plz

ROM confusion

Hello and thanks for your time.
My DZ is driving me nuts. Phone's rooted, s-off, radio's changed--basically fully configurable. I've been experimenting with several roms and have yet to find one that "fits". Virtuous Unity--lags, Virtuous Affinity--lags (when I say lag I mean 20+ seconds for the notification bar to slide...), CoreDroid (latest) lags to the point of not being useable, G-lite--no lag but no features such as a decent calendar widget. All the ROMs I've installed have swap enabled and disabled--not a helluva lot of difference.
I'm looking for a sense ROM (is that wrong?? oh well) preferably gingerbread, that runs well with basic eye candy. Now please don't misunderstand, all the ROMs I've mentioned are works of art and kudos to all that develop them, I'm not trashing anyone's efforts here. Just looking for some people that have had good ROM experiences...or can offer some insight as to what I may have screwed up in my phone to cause this poor operation...
Thanks to all
Try the rooted ota version of gb sense made for your phone.

Go back a few pages and look at the sense 1 and 2 (and hybrid) roms. There are a lot of hidden performance jems there. Here are some my old sense favorites...and they are all gingerbread!
Virtuous Sense v2.0.0
Desire_Gingerbread_Sense 1.2 (very light/fast sense rom) (v1.2)
Synergy - (RLS1.1 10/9/2011) - Now With Warm Sprinkles!
InsertCoin_Vision Sense2.1 + 3.0 (v1.6.1)
You can't go wrong with any of them!
Thanks! Can't wait to try them.
This is a great forum
Virtuous sense 2. It's what the stock Rom should've been. Smooth, fast and sense.

I use RCMix4.0 Energized Blue Edition and works beautifully...smooth and fast... its GB 2.3.5 and sense 3.5... u should try it!
Go back to G-Lite and ditch LauncherPRO for GoLauncherEX and download their GoCalendar app. Also, if you want FB sync with contacts while on that setup, download Contacts by Contactapps and enable FB contact syncing. Smoothness of AOSP with the versatility and functionality of Sense in one package.
I'm on Affinity at the moment and the lag isn't really unbearable. Sure some functions take afew seconds longer, but having the native integration as well as Sense 3.5 justifies the slight cost in performance. Overclocking to 1.5GHz also helps alittle with the lag.
are you sure you want sense?
for me all sense-roms i tried i got lags, too.
if you dont not "need" sense. check this rom: ILWT
it is awesome!
yes RCMIX3D 4.0 is the best ROM i think
You can try Android Revolution hd 7.0, is very fast and smooth Sense 3.5 ROM.
Just my two-pence worth - when you tried affinity did you enable swap?
Affinity is now my daily driver - with swap but without supercharging - supercharging have me very bad results - has been pretty rock solid actually, if not rocket fast.
best sense 3.x ROMs: android revolution HD and beatmod blissense
best sense 2.x ROMs: virtuous sense
best AOSP ROM: ILWT CM7

Recommend me a stable HTC Sense 3.5+ ROM ..

Hi guys ... I'm currently using Virtuous Affinity, and I've found it to be very slow and buggy, and I really want to switch to some other ROM .. Before Virtuous Affinity, I was using Virtuous Unity, which I found to be much better ..
So right now I need suggestions for a Desire Z compatible ROM, which is based on HTC Sense 3.5 or higher ... Or at the very least, it should be Sense 3.0 or higher ..

I actually need the camera ... If the camcorder is out though, I can probably live with that ..
Every 3.5 sense rom i've tried so far get laggy and buggy after time. I'm now using ICS mexdroid rom and this is really really really the fastest experienxe so far for me personally.
Try the energy series.
Virtuous Affinity 2.05.0 was a fantastic ROM to use after i debloated it and supercharged it. I used it for about 2 weeks with the HTC Amaze cam mod and that was by far one of my favorite Sense ROMs. I normally stick to AOSP ROMs though because Sense 3.5 is just not meant for our phones. That's the reason why we didn't get an update to Sense 3.* and that's also the reason why our phones won't get an update to ICS, because our phones won't be able to handle Sense 3.6 either.
just try android revolution. one of the best roms ever
I tried revolution, same laggy issues after some time. Even if you reboot every day. Pick an ics rom, they are working very very well.

jup, andromadus beta 3 is the best rom ever
ARHD 7.0.4:
i suggest you: unistall via titanium all unused apps/widgets (personaly i have only the calendar and the weather widgets) then you need swap,v6 supercharger,sd boost. enable swap, set sd cache to 8192, run supercharger(my opinion option13 for rosie and 6 for memory)
bulletproof the com.android.mms. cpu sleep 245 conv. wake 1.2+ ondemand.
you will have all time 100+ mb free not loosing you message(i rec to have the ghostly), playable, smooth. always you will have lag or freezes is a sense 3.5 rom in a 512 rem device. is the best that you can do. i have tried everything.
edit:BUT ALWAYS YOU WILL HAVE THE CAMERA FLASH BAG (flash doesnt open in the same time when the camera captures a picture so the image is black) this is the reason i let the 3.x roms. you cant fix it even install the amaze mod camera even a 3rd party app or different kernel...
Okay to cover this one more time:
Sense 3 and 3.5 roms are not ever going to work well on the G2 series. Dead Stop. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
The G2 series does not have sufficient system horsepower to properly run a Sense rom of this series. You want Sense UI and G2 in the same package? Great. Run Virtuous Sense 2. It is based on the DZ firmware and is very stable.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

You could keep a backup of a couple different roms on your sd card. That's what I do. Primadonna might not have a working camera, but audacity does.it only takes a few short minutes to switch between roms.
