Hi iuridiniz,
The silent_bob52637 thread was:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110941
I don't know much about it, but it sounds like you're taking a different approach than he did.
Anyway, it's brilliant to know that someone is working on this phone again.
Good luck!

Well did the flip side rom work on the flipout

Hi. Phchshow and me are working on roms for flipout and I doubt nandroid backups will work, if the mount points aren't the same, you might brick your device. Run mount from terminal and post it. I'll do the same later and we can see if it works. Check this link out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2079122
Phchshow is further in development than me right now.
If mount doesn't work try cat /proc/mtd that should give you more details about the mounting points

Installing themes & other noob related issues

Hello,
Thanks to all the members on this site who have provided all the info necessary to go from stock to SC 2.6, non-voodoo. I have been building my own PC's, overclocking, modding for years. I figured I wasn't clueless when it comes to all things techno and should be able to handle this. I have been studying the forums for a month and finally dove in. Really want to steer clear of the "please hold my hand" and do this for me type questions. Unfortunately, after searching for a while, I have to do exactly that. I can't seem to find specifics on installing or removing the various themes. If I'm blind, could anyone point me in the direction? The sticky on themes seems to cover how to create them, not flash them on. Thanks again to all the devs and others who have posted their experiences. I would be stuck on stock forever without you all.
The themes come in .zip files, like roms and kernel. And like roms and kernels, you flash them in CWR like usual. Reboot, and your phone should have the theme installed.
There is no way to remove a theme. Though, you can backup before installing a theme, and restore it if you don't like the theme. If you want to use another theme, all you need to do is flash the new theme in CWR, then reboot. Your new theme should overwrite the old one. Hope you enjoy your device!

Thanks, I get the idea. Do I wipe data before flashing? I don't think i did when I flashed SC 2.6 as all my contacts and everything were still there. Phone works well, so now I'm convinced I'm gonna brick it if I try anything else. But I can't resist.
Themes don't involve wipes, so no worries there. Just flash themes away!

Rom of the week

Hey Buzzers. Today i´d like to start a new concept, its called
"Rom of the week", and it is pretty simple.
I love trying out new roms, and i´m sure you do to. So i´ll test some roms, and then every week i´ll be awarding the best rom the title as Rom of the week.
But you guys, are also allowed to come with your suggestions and discuss which rom is best.
//PetDroid
My favorite rom of this week is..
RemPuzzlerom. This is mainly because of its awesome features, including the new "Beats audio" thing, the fastness. Everything is just so fast and i just love Sense!.
This was a short post, but thats just my opinion. What do you think?
This is a great thread started on my opinion, i guess you will state issues and make comparisons through tested roms. Unfortunately, i don't have time doing this lately to do so, that's a reason i find it nice.

CM7.2 Build 16, not so smooth but extremely customizable. I love it
Cyanogenmod
Yup, i also really like CM7. Just dont know why, like sense better
Grate idea . Will save us a lot of time searching for roms and updates.
Can u also provide links to the rom of the week please .
Then if I may cm9 buzz kang rc0 (erwinp and Arco ) I know the rom still have some bugs but it should be listed in my opinion just for the fact that we were told our wildfire not good enough to run ics . This is my daly rom .

Dont get me wrong, but, this thread is useless, there are several other threads like this, such as: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485583
Basically, youre doing the same thing. You could, though, comment on roms in that thread to reduce number of threads on this subforum as its getting bloated with useless threads and we, wildfire veterans, dont like it, just like others who come here to search for useful info.

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to be asking for help, but, did you wipe (using CWM) before flashing the new ROM? That might be the issue here.
Also, back on topic, I'm another vote for Erwin's awesome CM9 builds, if you don't mind the roughness of it.

yeah. they released a flow chart with percentages a week ago. if i find ill link. but based on the flow chart we have ~66% chance of official cm9 (do we really need it though?) we already have a AOKP, Gummy, MIUI v4, nightly kangs, THS and Codename (most of these roms from Stephen.k.spear thanks btw) so in all reality, would the world end with out offic cm9?

Recommend a kernel and why

Hey
Ive never switched kernels before and Im in the mood to try some out Which do you recommend? I like battery life but I also like decent performance obviously
Which are your recommended? (Only universal compatible ones eg. they work with all (or 99%) of ROMS)
GB/ICS? AOSP or sense?

I ment by universal just that: they work on both AOSP AND Sense.
And I apoligize for not mentioning what version: Gingerbread
The reason he's asking is because there is obviously no universal kernel that'd work for both AOSP and Sense.

Well, I suppose that you can try the Tiamat kernel. Credits go to canyiarb.
You can also try the ILWT kernel. This is what I'm using right now, I've had zero issues with it and it's blazing fast. Credits go to Tsubus.
Alternatively, there's also EliteKernel. It includes custom governors, something ILWT doesn't have. Also a great choice.) Credits go to Nik3r.
All three of the above are excellent kernels (in my opinion). You shouldn't see much of a difference between the three.

How can I backup my current kernel if I want to switch back?
Not sure, I suppose you could make a backup of your /boot partition (if you're using 4EXT Touch there's an option for this in Advanced Backup I think).
The best thing to do would be to make a nandroid of your existing installation in entirety.

Cyanogen roms have there own kernel, check in settings/about phone/ and look under 'kernel version' you'll see the name there.
If it's stock, yes it is using it's own kernel.

Oh yea, definitely. Its amazing!!! I have not found a single issue yet (besides the normal ones, such as GPS >.> Fixes will be coming soon tho ) its a lot smoother than any other roms ive tested. I have not tested camera or anything else yet, but Im positive everything runs well. I have used both CM10 Alpha Preview as well (I was on 0803) and Hellybean. Ive never tested jellybro because I heard there is a lot of battery drain. AOKP is quite laggy so I havent tried that out. Anyway, IMO SlimBean has been better than both. I have not tried latest Hellybean because of all the installation issues on 0804 and 0805. I think Ill stay on SlimBean for a while. You should DEFINITELY try it out. Love it. I also made some changes in the Semaphore kernel app. With those changes + SlimBean, the ROM runs like the wind
Cool, I am currently running helly 807. Its very quick and other than standard issues (GPS, 911) its been good. My major issue though is, on cm10 preview my system ROM part had 360+/-mb. It left me almost 100mb+/-free, with helly sys ROM is 262mb leaving only 10+/-mb free. Can you open titanium backup and see how many mb's the system ROM is? Total/(free)
Thanks
