I tried ICS since its initial releases for nexus s up to now, but I really don't see any huge and significant differences between gingerbread and ics.
Maybe it is not so obvious by vision or maybe it is because of one core cpu of nexus s but excepts some changes in menus, I don't see anything important.
P.S. I can make my gingerbread very smooth and low battery consumer by some tricks as all of you guys know.
Do there need to be huge differences?
Its a software update, not some ground up redesign of what a mobile phone should be. The software, once updated, should be faster, prettier, easier, or better... or some combo of those features.
Not every piece of code and apk needs an overhaul.

It would be a bad idea to roll out a complete revamped of the OS update from prior version, it would not be easily accepted by majority of the users. Like when Microsloft rolled out the new Office 2007 with a complete redesigned UI, not a lot of people liked it -- huge learning curve... Anyway, I think there are great features/updates in ICS over GB.
* Swipe to remove notifications -- my most favorite. CM7 has it but is flaky.
* Recent app list with also swipe to remove
* Built-in quick screenshot (hold Power + Vol down)
* Redesigned Settings menu, prettier and more organized
* Stock app drawer now has a separate tab for Widgets
* Better Contacts (called People now in ICS) - UI and functionalities
* Better Browser
I would also like ICS on my Iconia Tab. Honeycomb is a failure. Can't wait for Acer to push ICS updates next month.

those are all my abolute favorite things about ICS.
you forgot to put in the rapid tap of android version to get android rockets! love that easter egg
Is it clear yet that it fully supports dual core or quad core?
I agree with better internet browser but really is there any structural difference in ICS?
I really am the big fan of google and android but I see ICS as a failure
For instance I see windows 7 a big success, of course maybe it isn't a good example.
Is it possible to write a full office software for ICS with all its features? Does it supports graphical effects and hardwares?
I believe hardware is moving forward so much faster than OS

That works in Gingerbread too, but with a different picture
Also, some of the smaller changes interest me, like Face Unlock, some of the new camera features and the screenshot capability.
Speaking of camera features, does the Nexus S support tap to focus, and the zero shutter lag touted for the Galaxy Nexus? (or at least reduced lag)

I don't think zero shutter lag is possible in the Nexus S due to its weaker/slower hardware. Zero shutter in the Galaxy Nexus is the reason why the camera is only 5M instead of 8M.

Still no tap to focus, its still just in the center to.
I found the camera shutter is faster, but not by much. about 2 seconds for me.
I think its worth it once tweaked. If you don't like flashing roms every few days then stick with gb

Basically what the title has said. I'm looking for a rom that has stock honeycomb on it. I'm not really a fan of touchwiz never really was. I know that I could of search for it. I got distracted about reading about the Newton rings. Apparently there on my tablet. If someone can help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

But without touchwiz you will lose important hardware features of the tablet. Stock honeycomb is a highly incomplete OS and touchwiz fills in many of the gaps.

You get the all important screenshot button right next to the most used button on the status bar, so whenever you accidentally hit it instead of the button you wanted you get a pointless image added to your gallery.
Tee Hee that made me laugh.
I am disappointed at the lack of dev activity though. I too prefer AOSP to TW and was hoping for a huge dev scene.
Im honestly amazed at how little education people here have about TouchWiz.
TouchWiz is by far the most advanced software you currently can get on a tablet. The user experience it provides is light years ahead of anything else out there, even Honeycomb 3.2.
Not only that but TouchWiz gives you access to specific hardware you cant access without it. The ability to change color temperature of the screen is a HUGE feature you can only have with toucwiz.
Here are just a few of the features you get from TouchWiz that you cant get anywhere else :
1. REAL multitasking just like in Windows. You can have TWO apps open at once on the same screen and not have to switch back and forth. There is nothing like this available in the market or in 3.2. HUGE props to Samsung for doing this.
2. Ability to change color temperature of the screen.
3. One touch wifi file access to tablet from PC <-- AWESOME
4. Sluggish menu scrolling in vanilla Honeycomb are gone! It looks like
Samsung devs used video hardware acceleration for scrolling which creates a smooth experience compared to Vanilla honeycombs laggy jumpy scrolling in may menus.
5. Awesomenew notification/settings popup menu. FAR superior to stock Honeycomb.
6. One touch screen capture button in the task bar takes a snap shot of the screen and automatically saves to a folder.
7. Lots of cool QUALITY widgets not like the junk you find in the market.
8. Motion gestures
9. Superior App Manager/ RAM manager which can run ON TOP of any app you are running.
10. BEST Music app and runs super smooth. Much better than stock H.C. or anything in the market
11. BEST Ebook reader app you can get.
12. Your tablet will run FASTEST with touchwiz. Samsung is using hardware acceleration for menus like Apple. Stock HC uses software rendering which is why its so slow and laggy. You cant get hardware acceleration if you dont have TouchWiz. No the Devs here will not be able to add it as its beyond their capabilities.
The list goes on and on. TouchWiz is simply a superior experience than stock HC. I would even dream of using my tab without it. Your tablet is incomplete and missing features to access hardware if you dont have TouchWiz.
Really? I guess it's a personal thing then. I used TW for a week before deciding I COULD do without out LOL.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought TW was JUST a GUI and nothing else! It shouldn't offer superior app management and ram management... and as for the apps you mention, well we all have choices via the android market.

1. 6 predefined apps, you call this REAL multitasking!? I have no use for these apps, except maybe calculator that i have used once.
2. I have no need for that. And i think there are apps in Market that can do this?
3. How? Has this something to do with that thing called Kies? I refuse to use this ****.
4. The menu scrolling has never been sluggish on my Xoom, so i don't know what you are talking about.
5. Awesomenew notification/settings popup menu? Yeah, design is little different.
6. I have accidentally used that screen capture button a few times, other then that i have no use for this. There are lot of apps in Market that can make screenshots.
7. I really tried to use those "cool QUALITY widgets" just to give Samsung and Touchwiz a fair chance. I couldn't stand them for longer then a week. Then i downloaded the same widgets i used on my Xoom.
8. Motion gestures... yes, this feature bugged me also until i chose "never ask again".
9. I have never used or needed a App Manager/ RAM manager on Xoom. Why would i want to use this on GT10.1?
10. I must admit, i have never tried the BEST Music app. I use Google Music.
11. I have never used the BEST Ebook reader app either, so i can't comment on this.
12. Your tablet will run FASTEST with touchwiz? Maybe my GT10.1 has a hardware problem, but i don't see that it runs faster then my Xoom.
So i don't really see what touchwiz added, besides that gray bottom bar, which really bothers me the most. If i could get a vanilla 3.2 ROM, i would be very happy.
Of course this is my personal opinion and i'm not saying that GT10.1 isn't a good tablet.

It is recommended to read the white papers on TouchWiz to understand why its so important if you have a Tab 10. Lag of hardware acceleration without it is one feature alone that should have everyone on board with TouchWiz. Not only that but samsung is releasing an api to allow you to add any app into the mini launch bar.

Can you do without touchwiz? Sure if you only use your unit to check email and view a webpage but then why did you buy a tab 10? Also you are wrong on many account...
There are no apps in the android market that will give you true multitasking like touchwiz.
There are no apps in the market that will allow you to change the color temps of the screen.
There are no apps that will allow you to obtain a superior notification menu
There are no apps in the market that will allow you to add hardware acceleration to the GUI.
There are no apps in the market that will allow you to do a at LEAST a dozen more important Tab 10 related features.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but TW doesn't improve my experience.
As a matter of fact, TW seems to have been designed by Samsung to lock users in to their proprietary ecosystem. Unfortunately, I do not believe software development--on the scale that Apple and Google, and allegedly Amazon is building out--is a part of their core competency. I am not sure Samsung has what it takes to build an ecosystem that provides the user experience on the level that Google already provides--so I do not want Samsung's Social Widgets, Music Hub, or whatever other service they are trying to push on me.
The only reason I purchased the Galaxt Tab 10.1 is because of the superior hardware design and quality with respects to other Android Tablet manufacturers, and quite frankly, their TW software just gets in the way. I really dislike having their proprietary software forced down my throat.
If their interface and software bundle is so great, why doesn't Samsung let users choose to install their software via the market or some other option?
--my two cents.
So, who's about to watch the Samsung and Google event in Hong Kong? I'm watching for a timeline of ICS on our tabs. Should be fun.

Oh and the Galaxy Nexus will be cool too.
I'm watching with you as well! Hoping they will say there's an ICS update avail right now for our Tabs. lol
They say the developer SDK is available right now. Is that enough for ROMs or just apps?
just apps, we need the source code and drivers(?) for roms
Cool new intuitive changes borrowed from the android community.

wish they tell a bit more about Galaxy Nexus since i am deciding to get an upgrade from HTC Magic...
hopefully coming to GT10.1 soon?
Why didn't they demo it on a tablet as well..
Im guessing because theyre going to show it off on a new motorola tablet and its a samsung event. Hopefully motorola shows something on their razr event.

I think that new calendar will look really good on tablets. I only hope that if there will be a dedicated tablet calendar, the font size will be enlarged to some degree when you use the pinch to zoom function.
I absolutely love the "SWIPE ALL THE THINGS" idea, but I'm sure it takes some time to get used to. Getting rid of notifications in HC is something i find a nightmare. Where is the friggin "Clear All" Button?(Devs?)
Any thoughts about camera shutter response improvement with ICS on "older" devices, like SGS2? I mean, SGS2 is quite fast as it is, but there is always room for improvement.
The voice textmessaging seemed extremely accurate...in english. Hope it will be as accurate i Norwegian
The new browser, calendar, launcher and gallery seemed solid, so probably no need for any 3rd party replacement. Also, I like the transparency and the darkness through the whole stock theme. The new font also looks very nice!
What devices do you guys think will be ICS compatible? Minimum hardware specs? Still sittin' with an ol' SGS1, but i highly doubt I will ever see it running ICS.
When do you guys think ICS wil be available for our Galaxy Tabs? Q1 2012 maybe?

The current range of tablets (10.1, 8.9, XOOM etc) should be compatible and will probably get the ICS update. At least I hope they do.
It's a little more tricky for existing phones which have hardware buttons -- if the manufacturers want to release an ICS update for those, they will probably have to disable to onscreen buttons otherwise it will be just plain confusing.
Andy Rubin said most devices running 2.3.x shouldnwork just fine with ics. Seeing as the nexus s will get the update first, that sets the min speed at 1ghz single core. Our tabs should have no problem running 4.0.
I would expect source code to be released just after the nexus s update. So some aosp alpha stuff around Xmas. At least that would be a nice present.
Let's go through the improvemens:
- clean lock screen (already available as 3rd party apps)
- face unlock (first consumer implementation, though not new tech)
- notifications in lock screen (I am sure someone has done this, but not cyanogen)
- quick text respond (3rd party lock screen?)
- swipe away notifications (cyanogenmod)
- honeycomb app switcher w/ swipe away (finally!)
- data usage monitor (wow! I hope there is something like that for battery use)
- photo/video/gallery (some much needed improvements bring it up to the competition)
- cleaner ui experience (nice changes should make it competitive with apple out of the box)
- gv voicemails in call log (nice, but not a major uprade)
- native screenshot support (no more icon on lower bar! But already available for some devices)
- Google beam (doesn't really do it for me...)
- talk to type and keyboard improvements (we'll have to see if the can compete with 3rd partys)
- disable apps (already in titanium backup as freeze app)
- device encryption (already supported in honeycomb)
Personally the only other thing I really would like to see out of Samsung is an open api for their multitasking mini apps. Those are a major step forward in multitasking (at least on tablets)

no, they can also use the hardware buttons and disable the software buttons. will be no problem at all!
but whether they will release it for old devices (except nexus devices) or not... that's another question.

This is for people who in multiple threads keep asking:
"whats new in ICS"....
"whats the difference between gingerbread and icecream sandwich"....
etc etc etc etc etc etc
This is a basic, copy & paste job from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history#4.0.1
THESE ARE FOR STOCK ICS - SOME CHANGES WILL BE MADE IN THE RELEASES FROM SAMSUNG FOR THE SGS2
Android 4.0 – codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich – was previewed at the May 2011 Google I/O event, and officially launched at the Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich release event on 19 October 2011.
ICS version - 4.0.1
The Galaxy Nexus introduced Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The SDK for Android 4.0.1 was publicly released on 19 October 2011. Google's Gabe Cohen stated that ICS was "theoretically compatible" with any Android 2.3.x device in production at that time. The source code for ICS became available on 14 November 2011, three days before the Galaxy Nexus was released. New features included:
Enhanced speed and performance
Virtual buttons in the UI, in place of capacitive or physical buttons
Separation of widgets in a new tab, listed in a similar manner to apps
Easier-to-create folders, with a drag-and-drop style
A customizable launcher
Improved visual voicemail with the ability to speed up or slow down voicemail messages
Pinch-to-zoom functionality in the calendar
Offline search, a two-line preview, and new action bar at the bottom of the Gmail app
Ability to swipe left or right to switch between Gmail conversations
Integrated screenshot capture (accomplished by holding down the Power and Volume-Down buttons)
Improved error correction on the keyboard
Ability to access apps directly from lock screen (similar to HTC Sense 3.x)
Improved copy and paste functionality
Better voice integration and continuous, real-time speech to text dictation
Face Unlock, a feature that allows users to unlock handsets using facial recognition software
New tabbed web browser, allowing up to 16 tabs
Automatic syncing of browser with users' Chrome bookmarks
Modern Roboto font
Data Usage section in settings that lets users set warnings when they approach a certain usage limit, and disable data use when the limit is exceeded
Ability to shut down apps that are using data in the background
Improved camera app with zero shutter lag, time lapse settings, panorama mode, and the ability to zoom while recording
Built-in photo editor
New gallery layout, organized by location and person
Refreshed "People" app with social network integration, status updates and hi-res images
Android Beam, a near-field communication feature allowing the rapid short-range exchange of web bookmarks, contact info, directions, YouTube videos and other data
Hardware acceleration of the UI
Resizeable widgets – already part of Android 3.1 for tablets, but new for cellphones
Wi-Fi Direct
1080p video recording for stock Android devices
ICS version - 4.0.2
The Android 4.0.2 update was released on 28 November 2011, and fixed minor bugs on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, the launch of which was later delayed.
ICS version - 4.0.3
The Android 4.0.3 update was first released on 16 December 2011. It included a number of bug fixes and optimizations, and offered improvements to graphics, databases, spell-checking and Bluetooth functionality, along with new APIs for developers, including a social stream API in the Contacts provider. Other features included Calendar provider enhancements, new camera apps enhancing video stabilization and QVGA resolution, and accessibility refinements such as improved content access for screen readers.
really good to know exactly what changed.
thanks
Thanks
Now we just have to wait for Samsung to release official ICS.
Do anybody know what version we will get 4.0.1, 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 ?

4.0.3 or newer (unlikely). The newest leak KP8 is already on 4.0.3

Yeah, but Samsung official ROM wouldn't be blue most likely.
A good reference. Thanks!
Yeah,
I just figured that theres alot of people who wanted to know what is in the newest ICS over Gingerbread (GB).
Overall its not a massive update, but does offer some very nice little tweaks.
For those who use an alternate launcher app, a good portion of these updates wont be visible to the human eye. I for one use GO Launcher, so ICS update for me wont be a huge one.
A similar thread for noticeable differences between leaks would be nice as well, the relevant info usually gets buried in 100+ page threads.

Yeh,
Thats where the problem arises with the leaked samsung firmwares. They dont come with change logs. Can only go by the visually observable changes, and post them. Anything behind the scenes (which i assume is a good portion of what differs from update-to-update) is basically never discovered.
I don't think we'll see the virtual buttons.

Would you want that anyway? Whats the point of having two sets of buttons that can do the same?
So you can get to do two things at the same time!

Definitely not! I just mentioned it because it was in the OP change log.

i highly doubt the SGS2 will have the second set of buttons in their ICS full-builds
Well i already installed it wit infamous 2 but i dont like it. I think touchwiz in this rom look horrible, with colors that in personal i dont like it. And many features like face unlock are not in this upgrade. What do you think?
Other than face unlock, for which I have absolutely no use for, whats missing?
+ Beats HC and the former ICS/JB custom ROMS by a mile.
+ Runs great, especially the browser.
+ Looks good, but I like stock JB better, nothing to bad though.
too big font, too bright color, ugly locking screen, lost about 200MB RAM.
All other things are great.
Its touchwiz again. I think it looks horrible and i hope cm10 will get the camera drivers soon.

As far as performance is concerned it is great, a big step forward compared to previous ROMs or other custom firmware. Unfortunately, it is bloated with Touchwiz apps which are not necessary since there are Google equivalent apps that do the job perfectly well.
However, the biggest issue for me is the fact that it has no consistent user interface, a problem common to all non-stock Android versions. The Samsung apps have their own Touchwiz user interface while all other apps use the standard ICS user interface elements and colours. Some system elements like the Settings panel and various pop up windows utilise the Touchwiz graphical elements while others the standard ICS elements. Even the arrows that allow the user to select a piece of text look completely different depending on whether one is running a Samsung app or a standard Android one!
In my opinion, it is important for an OS which depends heavily on the user interface, like tablet and phone OSes, to have a common and standard look and feel not only for cosmetic purposes but also to ensure that the users are not confused and all apps look consistent with a specific design philosophy so that users can easily locate menus and other elements. This is the biggest failure of Touchwiz and as a result the overall look and feel of this firmware is strange with bright and colourful user interface elements when Touchwiz is used and dark black and blue elements when running standard Android apps.
Notice here that I am not judging the quality of Touchwiz vs standard ICS and some people prefer the one instead of the other. I am saying that whatever the choice of user inteface it has to be consistent throughout the system and third-party apps. Personally, I prefer the standard ICS user inteface but this is not the point of my argument.
I hope that third-party Android developers will use the updated libraries of this firmware as well as the camera drivers to produce a fully functioning standard ICS or Jelly Bean ROM through projects like CM9/CM10 for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

I am one of those who actually MUCH prefer Touchwiz and the other Samsung apps, added settings and personalizations (for example the overlay mini-apps and the now configurable screenshot button are extremely handy and I hate the "2-steps" notification bar in non-TW ROMs) so for me this ROM is GREAT.
I have never been interested in the least in face-unlock, I have always used the pattern lockscreen.
What I would have liked to see in this ROM are the SIM application toolkit, the numbers top row in the keyboard (like in all the recent Samsung keyboards) and the battery percentage.
P.S. that said, if the G.Tab 10.1 isn't going to get an official JB update from Samsung I am sure that at some point, once it matures, I will go back to CM10...
I have installed it on P7500 3G and it works fine (4.0.4 firmware for Italy)
however, keyboard does NOT work in Android Terminal Emulator, and I don´t know why
does anybody else use Terminal Emulator, can you check and report? thanks

I'm as happy as a pig in ****, now I might use it for more than a glorified Netflix machine.
That was the thing with the custom ICS/JB roms is that they were so unstable and brought literally nothing to the table besides being someone else's opinion on what they thought I wanted.
I want stability and I want good, official looking apps. Not File Manager HD with its advertising aids and not some bright ass boot animation that blinds me every time I have to reboot because it froze overnight.
But I digress.
I think this release by Samsung is quite amazing, and it will hold me off long enough till I decide to buy a newer model Galaxy Tab.
At the rate Samsung is going they are going to be my new favorite company. Not just because of this update, for numerous other dealings as well.

I had that same problem yesterday, no matter which keyboard I tried, I'll probably just use another terminal app.

The new version is definitely a step ahead. It seems Swype is usable now, although it still lags a bit but at least it can keep up with typing for me not like earlier versions.
I also like it and I guess touchwiz is inevitable. Desktop customization has been upgraded too which is very useful.
If something else could be asked is a tad more smoothness when switching desktops and probably one last push update to jelly bean for increased smoothness.
We'll see in the coming days with extended use. For.me :good:

the ugliness of the Samsung 4.0.4 really disturbs me...
Was Samsung smoking pot in the many months spent on making it on to 10.1?

It doesn't work for me too. I can enter numbers and other symbols, but I cannot enter any letters.
Edit: It turned out, that using Swype instead of Samsung keyboard, works great in the Terminal Emulator.

iI like it, very stable and with best email stock client that I never see.
I really am digging it. My only complaint so far is how close the notification icons are to each other.

The only thing that i complain in this new build, is there are some games that aren't working. For example Mass Effect (GooglePlay obviously) it works on CM9, however doesn't on the Samsung rom (both 4.04).

Yes!!! This was probably the first thing I checked once the install had finished. I love Swype but it was pretty much unusable in stock HC on the tab. No more automatic deleting of the last two characters when typing a search into the browser!!!
From my perspective it's a it early to give an opinion but it's looking good so far although my quadrant score has taken a nosedive (yes, I know that doesn't mean anytihgn in reality)
Lagging playback on some HD videos.

First of all, this is in no way a criticism of the Rom devs who have released JB Roms so far, and its not trolling, just my observations on the JB Roms (based on what we have seen so far).
I've been running CleanNote 6 with Speedmod for a few months now (with a few mods - removed lots of bloat, added Google Now, new Gmail etc). Its very fast, smooth, and has brilliant battery life. But like most people on here, I've been trying out the JB Roms since they first appeared. Problem is, I keep coming back to CleanNote. Maybe some of these can be resolved once Samsung decides to finish JB for the Note, although some appear to be features rather than bugs.
So here's my list of moans
- Overall, its no where near as 'smooth' as CleanNote - this will hopefully improve once JB is officially out - (or maybe a new speedmod will come out for JB?)
- The Gallery - there's that 'stutter' whenever you load an album that isn't there in CleanNote (again, should be fixed in official release) Images often appear pixelated for a second before clearing up - not a problem in LRQ/CleanNote Roms.
- The new Notification drop down looks ugly for me - personal taste but not for me
- Font sizes are too big - system fonts are too large, changing to tiny or small makes third party apps look odd (hopefully fixed in official release)
- The share / open with dialogues are not as nice - the list in 4.0.4 LRQ works great - the icon / grid system in JB is awkward (eg click to open a link from twitter and it asks you which browser to use - instead of a nice neat list we have a messy grid of icons.
- Not able to access app info directly from the app drawer.
These next ones might be more controversial
- AirView - not really sure why this is useful - its novel, but can't imagine using it - maybe better on a large tablet size device but not jumping at me as something I would ever need.
- MultiView - nice idea, but even with the Note's large screen, you are left with two windows that aren't really practical to work with . I tried to look at a map and website at the same time - it worked, but it was pointless - much better to switch between than try to manage both at once. On a 10 inch tablet I can see this as useful maybe though.
- Paper Artist - not interested - its just a novelty app - pretty pointless really.
Things I do like
- The launcher bug from LRQ 4.0.4 is gone (apps on SD would vanish from homescreen on restart)
- Long app names run to two lines rather than just cutting off like they used to
On previous phones (Galaxy S, Desire, Desire HD), I've quickly ended up on CM or MIUI based roms - but with the note it seems silly to lose the unique features you only get with a TW Roms.
These are just my thoughts based on the leaks we have seen so far -
Please feel free to disagree and convince me otherwise (or ignore if you like!) -but don't accuse me of trolling or start flaming - I'm just sharing my ideas.
I agree with you on that, a lot of the jb features are gimmicks and probably won't get used that often.
But that doesn't mean no one will ever use them some people may find it really useful?
I agree that ics (expecially clean note) is a lot smoother than jb but I believe mainly this is because jb is still kind of in beta stage so it's an unfinished release.
The galaxy s2 has had jb update but it requires being updated via Kies only as the whole device needs to be repartitioned taking up to 1 hour to complete.
Maybe something similar will be required for the note? If it does require repartitioning it may solve some of the existing issues such as memory leaking and storage issues and general lagging.
Who knows? All we can do and see what happens when it's released.

+1 and addition to this when you are in settings and tap on a option like display it takes 2-3 seconds to open and show some glitch and also the boot menu i don't like it.. but i love jb so i switched to official cm 10.1 it's so smooth

After almost two months of trying various JB roms last week I returned back to Rocket Rom V12 and what a difference it made. So yesterday I went online to write similar thoughts to yours but got destructed by a post and spent my time reading it instead. All I can do now is to say: +1 on that
Thanks for replies
I'm pretty sure that the smoothness will come in the official release - I just tried the latest version of BURTROM and its pretty nice - Usable as a daily driver if you feel like you have to have JB already.
Final thought - I guess that the JB update will be the last major official OS update for our Notes - the S4 and Note 3 will be out this year (and who knows how many others) - our old Notes will be 2 years old and I guess many of us will be upgrading soon anyway. We will have had 2 major updates (GB>ICS>JB) which is 2 more than most Androids get anyway. This time next year it will be S3 and Note 2 owners complaining about the updates that take months and don't work as well as the old versions!
Why did you make a new thread and why didn't you use the existing ones for JB discussions?

CleanNote 6 + NoteCore 14 was the best combo for me on TW - with best batt life on my device
- (also previous user of imilkas PA 0,4)
Playing with JB leaks from the first one - and now back to ICS again. We have now leaks only, so there is no need to be dissapointed. The thing is, even with release of Note2, samsung pushed all of its features into this "old" device. Hardware is still capable, but in term of bussines is our device no more interersting for samsung - so their move to bring up those features is simply great when you compare other makers. For sure those features might be just "gimmick" - but it will definitelly aim me to buy next Samsung device....and i believe the same for SOME current S2 S3 users,
Ask your friend what new he got with JB on HTC, Sony etc...new sets of icons and weather widget???
JB so on my N1 far:
-smoother launcher (who cares about small lags on ICS - but i know that a lot of people just care about lag in the launcher...)
-loading apps - definitelly a bit quicker on ICS
-bat life - might be on par stock ICS/stock JB
-Gallery JB - i like it more then ICS but there are also other PlayStore alternatives
-AirView - nice feature but really never used it that much, so...
-multiview stock - also do not use as i use something else...
When you debloat JB then it is better (in that case BurtRom is nice performer, and chipwizz went even further to debloat
Samsung also lost a lot of N2 customers that wanted to switch from N1 (like myself), cause we have got the same features (but N2 is definitelly better specced device), but for me as a "non gamer" N2s quadcore has no meaning untill (probably N3).
What i would expect from N3 - is full phablet mini PC with ability to stick HDMI screen and perform standard office tasks. I can do it now, but there is problem somewhere else..so hopefully multitasking in next android will be better. Hopefully N3 will not bring just bigger screen...
All well said. I am simply sticking to leaked jb(ultimate 5.1) without going back to ics with a fond hope that official jb will be rolling out soon.
