Full resolution camera?

Currently, I'm running froyostone and the camera app only displays quality as "3mpx" when in reality the HD2 has a 5mpx one.
Which android build allows full camera quality? Is this the type of thing a new zimage would fix or is it more of a build issue?
It's kind of driving me crazy.... I've built a mostly functional daily use build where everything but the full camera (and WiFi hotspot, which I know is being worked on) is working.
Also, what's the story with 720p video recording? Is the HD2s camera capable of that resolution?
If anyone would like to see the steps I took to make my daily use build, a tutorial is on my website but as a new user, I am unable to post links.

There are already builds with the full 5MP camera working (mattc nexusleo, for example).
Obviously the Leo's camera is able to take 720p videos, and in theory even 1080p, in fact 1920*1080 is something like 2MP... The problem is in codecs and CPU usage, but soon we'll have 720p as the N1 and the Desire have.. And probably we'll never see 1080p because it's too big to calculate proprely for the CPU, and it would take too much space on the SD, too...

mattc NexusLeo v1 has the camera working perfectly at 5mpx.

I don't want to use no sense ROM anymore. The interface is very crude.
Is there any solution for HTC sense ROM with 5MP camera?

Each to their own, but I think the Android 2.2 interface with LauncherPro is superb.... I am fed up with the HTC Sense look, its like WinMo (and I am not going back there again! !!! )

If you are willing to pay for an app then vignette will not only give you full resolution but will give you a much more robust camera app with a ton of features and much better jpeg compression

I'm using v1.72 WWE stock ROM but I'm considering venturing into the world of Android for the HD2 as there seems to be lots of development that is tempting me.
The camera is important to me so can anyone tell me what their impressions are of the quality and options on Android builds in comparison with stock ROMs? I find the stock ROM to provide usable results although in party environments the flash washes the images out and they are often blurry. V3.14 is better but as I wanted other people's opinions.

ON android the camera quality is not as good as WM, in the registry change the camera value to:762929 and you will have 720p quality photos.
BTW my flash works perfect on Wm As well.

Anyway...camera on wm makes better quality photos, especially in daylight

[Q] Camera Quality Problem With Android

Hi Guys!!
I installed Hyperdroid Cm7 Android Rom on my device about a week back.
Everything is working fine except the camera
I mean its working but it is not taking pictures as clear and sharp as WM 6.5 used to take
I didn't find any fix or patch for this and also tried some apps like HDR and Vignette but still quality aint that great .
Is there any method or solution to the problem ??
Or do i have to live with a below average camera??

Yeap I agree with you. WM6 pictures seemed to look more sharply and with android it's hard to get as good picture as WM6 took. Pictures are a bit blurry when taken ( I know that there is a potion for sharpness and that stuff but still, pictures are not as good quality as on WM6). It's hard to get clean picture, just a little hand shake and pictures would be nasty, that didn't happened on WM6.
I think that there is nothing you can do unless some dev gonna fix/produce new libs etc. Well you could try different builds, I have also tried WM7 but for me pictures looks even worsen than on Android.

has anyone compared the picture quality of hyperdroid cm7 and typhoon cm7 ??
cuz i was planning to try typhoon cm7 just to check the camera but if someone has already done that, i wud be nice to know !!

in typhoon pictures are better, also in miui builds pictures and camcorder are good.

i get installed android 2.3.3 on htc hd2 tmobile usa
but my video camera is not working at all. it just gives error.

I had that build too and if i remember well the camcorder was a little buggy now and then. Now i'm happy with typhoon 3.4.0 magdlr.
As for the pictures i often use Camera 360 Ultimate, it has some amazing features like burst shots and anti-shake mode.

Just try out the contrast, saturation and sharpness settings of your cam.
I take definitely better pics with Android than with WM6.5.
(Have atm no better pic on my HD2 )

Try WP7 and you gonna cry for its camera handling software. I loved WM 6.5, I even loved more Android (I had a few) but WP7 rulez when it comes to camera.
And 720p recording is just awesome.
Too bad there is no android which can handle it so far. :S

You are not the only one. MIUI is just not too strong when it comes to camera. May that be just for picture capturing or worse when you try to capture video.
Right now I am on WP7 with my HD2 cause I can record in 720p and it is just amazing how good the video is. And the pictures are even better than I ever imagined.
I am searching for a better MIUI release right now cause I love Android but I need a decent camera app for it.

Any ROM's (official or non official) that have better video recording? I have an old stock one and video recording is a mess... it's a 720p camera! I expect some HD.

it's only 720p resolution but camera is not hd and there is no phone with hd this is just marketing bull****.

my phone always recorded video with pretty decent quality on all roms. Are u using a slow SD card that limits saving process?

Actually the SD Card is quite fast. It's not the lagging, its the quality itself..

My best bet would be a stock Rom, but I don't think this has anything to do with Roms... The optics on this camera are low quality and no matter what Rom you're going to use, video recording is not going to improve.

I read online that the B136 (I think) has better recording quality.. now. I don't want to install that ROM.. but can I download it and just replace the camera libs? I am running B133

B133?? Really?
That it a very old Rom and has countless bugs...Just upgrade to B138, even B136 it'll be far better...Since B135, Huawei released a number of camera bugfixes, no wonder you have issues, because B133 was terrible.

Can you please tell me from where I can download any of these ROMs? The only links that I found link to huaweidevice website, and all links are broken.
Any mirrors of these roms? And which one should I use?
