adding app to a rom before flashing

moving app from data/app to system/app free app space but some app after move don't work (google goggles, setcpu, gosms, an more), so i take the apk and put into rom (oxygen 2.1.3) inside system/app folder, flashed and restarted, but they still not work
what i'm doing wrong?
sorry for bad english
I'm not an expert but I believe they also have to have the right permissions. Check what permissions the other apps in the system partition have and change the permissions on the apps you're trying to move accordingly.
Sent from my VM670 using XDA App
permissions are the same rw-r--r-- in data/app and remain rw-r--r-- in system/app
but for example when i move with rootexplorer "setcpu" at restart i have a force close and i can't use it
with "go sms" no force closes i can read messages but when i write a new one tapping on "+" to show phone book to select peope the app go in loop searching for contacts
with a widget for check credit on my phone i can't add widget if moved to system/app
i tryed other app like google goggles, google earth all give a force close at startup and not work until remove to data/app
moving ephinefrine, flash 10.3 , adobe reader, winamp and many other give no error and app still work correctly
Try extracting the apk and putting the lib.(whatever it says).so file into system / lib folder . Then put the original apk in the system / apps folder. And that should do it!

[TUT] Remove Junk Apps + List (4.0.A.2.368, 4.0.1.A.0.283 & 4.0.2.A.0.42/.58/.62/.69)
Hello guys,
with the latest update(s) the Xperia Arc got a lot of additional junk apps, some of them run always and slow the phone down due running in the background and using RAM and CPU power.
So I'm writing a tutorial for you to remove these unnecessary apps.
How to delete the junk apps:
Go into "system/app" with Root Explorer, in that folder are all the junk apps. Now press "Mount R/W". Now you can delete the junk apps one by one or multi-select them. To have a backup of the apps, I'd suggest you to move them to the sd card. It's good to make a folder called "Junk Apps - name of the firmware" on your sd card.
Now select the apps, press move and go to the sd card and to the folder "Junk Apps - name of the firmware" and press paste. Done.
List of the junk apps for 4.0.A.2.368 :
- chinesetextinput.apk (chinese keyboard)
- datamonitor.apk (datamoitor widget)
- Home.apk (SE launcher, only delete this when you have another launcher installed!!)
- IddAgent.apk (Anonymous Usage Stats)
- JapaneseIME.apk (japanese keyboard)
- letsgolf_A_353.apk (Let's Golf HD)
- neoreader.apk (Neoreader)
- OmaDatasyncService.apk (part of SE Sync)
- playnowclientarvato.apk (Play Now)
- POBoxSknPink.apk (skin for chinese keyboard)
- POBoxSknWood.apk (skin for chinese keyboard)
- SemcCrashMonitor.apk (Crash Monitor)
- SEMCSetupWizard.apk (Setup Wizard)
- Stk.apk (SIM Tool Kit)
- storefront.apk (all the new stuff that has something to do with Fun&Downloads. Removes 3 items from the app drawer that belong to that game thing)
- Sync.apk (SE Sync)
- SyncWizard.apk (part of SE Sync)
- touchnote.apk (postcard app)
- trackid.apk (Track ID)
- UpdateCenter.apk (Update Center. Will remove "softwareupdate" from phone information in settings)
- usersupport.apk (Support)
- widgetdigitalclock.apk (small digital clock widget)
- widgetonoff.apk (most on/off widgets)
- wisepilot.apk (Wisepilot)
List for 4.0.1.A.0.283 + 4.0.2.A.0.42/.58/.62/.69:
- chinesetextinput.apk
- com.sonyericsson.androidapp.storefront.apk
- datatrafficswitch.apk
- Home.apk (SE launcher, only delete this when you have another launcher installed!!)
- IddAgent.apk
- JapaneseIME.apk
- letsgolf_A_353.apk
- neoreader.apk
- OmaDatasyncService.apk
- playnowclientarvato.apk
- POBoxSknPink.apk
- POBoxSknWood.apk
- SemcCrashMonitor.apk
- SEMCSetupWizard.apk
- Stk.apk
- Sync.apk
- SyncWizard.apk
- trackid.apk
- UpdateCenter.apk
- usersupport.apk
- widgetdigitalclock.apk
- widgetonoff.apk
- wisepilot.apk
I've removed all these apps from my Xperia Arc and it's running fine and faster than before. Plus you have more free RAM so your apps don't get killed as fast anymore when you minimized them.
There might be more apps that are removable without bricking the ROM, but then you lose some functions. If you want to do that you can use the link I posted below.
If you want to remove even more, here's another good list but some new apps are missing. Check the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470
This might also work on the Xperia Neo and Xperia Play when they are on the mentioned firmwares, too. But I can't test that.
Do this at your own risk. I'm not responsilbe if you brick or damage your phone by doing this!
If this helped you, please press "Thanks"
Regards,
Flo

If you meant ES File Explorer ( not EX File Explorer ) then you don't need that mount R/W option as this command is specific to Root explorer...
however, in both cases you NEED TO BE ROOTED, if you're not then both apps ( Root explorer & ES File Explorer ) won't help you... and also not any other app will help...

Isn't removing the 'Home.apk' without an alternate home screen app a dangerous idea?
When we move the apps to sdcard dat actually means we are deleting them from system/app rite ???
or do i have to go back to the app directory and delete them ?

Removing them from /system/app will uninstall the apps,
U don't have to go to the app directory
My tips is,
Multi select your files.
Cut all the files.
Paste it on a new folder on your sd card.
So you can reinstall your app again anytime you want
Just copy and paste again in /system/app

btw. in setxperia's systemcleanup tool you :
get a description for systemfiles , a hint if they are "save to remove" , you can rename them (underscore) , delete them , move updates (i.e. maps) back to system/app , fill the new free space with apps from data/app
and all this with a single click ;-)

Not if you have a replacement launcher like LauncherPro Plus installed.
I wrote to not remove the apk in the list when no other launcher is installed, where I described each apk, but for safety I added the description to the other list, too
Guys,
For my Arc S with .283 firmware, I have moved the below apps to SD Card :
1) datamonitor.apk
2) datatrafficswitch.apk
3) IddAgent.apk
4) JapaneseIME.apk
5) letsgolf_ay.apk
6) OmaDatasyncService.apk
7) playnowclientarvato.apk
8) POBoxSknPInk.apk
9) POBoxSknWood.apk
10) SemcCrashMonitor.apk
11) SEMCSetupWizard.apk
12) Stk.apk
13) storefront.apk
14) Sync.apk
15) SyncWizard.apk
16) TimescapeRssPlugin.apk
17) TimescapeSpline.apk
18) TimescapeWidget.apk
19) UpdateCenter.apk
20) usersupport.apk
21) widgetonoff.apk
22) wisepilot.apk
Instead of deleting them from a file explorer, you could just use Titanium Backup, much easier to identify what apks are and you can even back them up in case you ever need them again.
Thanks guys I try removing the bloatwares! (Crossing fingers.)

Barebone Stock Galaxy Note 10.1

Hi guys, I'm giving up on CyanogenMod. It is slimmer but it has more problems on Galaxy Note 10.1. If you have answer concerning the SDCard problem, please reply to my topic there.
Anyway, still I want to trim all those bloatwares from my device, so I did couple of researches, combining articles and tutorials on trimming roms on other devices (Note 1, 2, 3 and some other devices like sony)
The result? So far it's pretty stable and functional. Phone, bluetooth, wifi, sms, video call, stylus pressure sensitivity etc, all working just fine.
I also had several games, emulators and some graphic apps installed and running without any problem. No crashes so far.
I'll report more if there's anything came up. But I'm pretty happy with it now.
Might work on other tab/note variants too. So here it is :
1. Root your stock, using any method you want (I'm using Odin + ClockworkMod + CF-Auto-Root)
2. Use root file explorer of your choice and delete everything (or you can add .old extension if you had doubts, or maybe everyone's favorite, using freeze in Titanium Backup) in system/app EXCEPT THESE :

If you find any similar spreadsheet for other devices (Sony, HTC, or Motorola and probably even chinese handsets), or minimalist custom ROMs, please let me know, so I can do further comparison, and fetching more infos on the apks. Might just as well create a universal list for it. If I get my hands on new handsets, I'll probably do this too.
Note, from my list above, I deleted SamsungIME.apk (the default keyboard) so if you're doing factory reset you won't be able to type anything. I have myself a hardware keyboard to do the intial setups and such. But after that I used SwiftKey for my daily needs.
If you don't have any hardware keyboard at your disposal, leave it. You can delete it after you installed 3rd party keyboard.
I removed camera (SamsungCamera.apk) as well since I didn't use it much on my tablet. You can leave it if you want to, or use third party apps for it.
For the browser, I installed Chrome afterwards, since it have much more features compared to the stock/built in browser.
As for the multimedia player I use MXPlayerPro, fetched from Google Play as well
With this setup, from 345 apks/odexes I'm left with only about 78 apks/odexes. And it feels blazing fast.
that's 267 bloatwares/junks within your device, even if it's not coming from some service provider (OEM)
From 1 gb space used in factory settings to about 200 mb.

Thanks for the bloatware list, it's gonna be useful ^^
You're welcome. Be aware the list of the APK above is NOT listing the bloatwares.
Those are the ones you should LEAVE ALONE.
Additional guide :
Adding third party apps as default system app
As noted above, I've removed SamsungIME.apk, which is the default samsung keyboard (which I hated much, with passion) and replaced it with SwiftKey.
What you'll need :
ES File Explorer
Zip tool; could be Winzip or Winrar on PC, or I use ZArchiver for Android
Purchased apps are stored as .asec in /data/app-private. Using ES File Explorer app backup feature, you can save it as .apk and install it like common apps.
Step-by-step instruction :
After you backed up the purchased apps, uninstall the old (google play installed) one.
Open the newly created apk using zip or zarchiver, you'll find "lib" folder.
Copy the content of "lib" folder (usually with .so extension) to system/lib folder in your device.
Set the copied .so file permission to rw-r--r-- (chmod 644 if you use terminal)
Install the apk like usual using apk installer
find the new installed apk in data/app folder and copy it to system/app folder
set the copied .apk file within system/app folder permission to rw-r--r-- (chmod 644)
The app should become system app and will stay within your device even if a factory reset was done.
Tested on SwiftKey, Delver, ES File Explorer, etc. Doesn't work with MXPlayerPro (let me know if you had success with MXPlayerPro)

Aftermath, background processes and battery consume list. Also attached RemoveMultiWindowIcon.zip (flash it using ClockWorkMod if you hate the multiwindow icon).
I installed dropbox and swiftkey, so if you did a factory reset, you'll only left with 2 active background processes at most (excluding SystemUI and Android core, of course)
Also, list of apk/odex updated, with SecTabletAlarmClock_P4NOTE.apk, ContextAwareService.apk, SecDownloadProviderUi.apk removed, along with their odexes. No problem so far.
SecDownloadProviderUi.apk didn't do anything significant. I rebooted after I removed it, downloading google play still working fine and still give me some progress bar on the download.
However, I've lost the "downloads" icon, which means I cannot clean up the logs, and may be cluttered over time.
Edit :
A full day running the super slim tablet :
Running CSR Racing, Delver, Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, TrueSculpt and Google Drive/QuickOffice and tons of other apps without any problem.
MTP detected flawlessly and can send files from my computer through USB without problem.
Wifi internet run without problem, browsing from tablet work marvelously and also mobile data working properly.
Battery obviously last MUCH longer.
Found out that CSC.apk (after first boot/factory reset) and Personalisation.apk (not sure what it does, maybe had something to do with ringtones and wallpapers) are safe to remove. Can anyone confirm this? I've did a full unroot on my device. Well those two are minor, now that you're left with about 40 apks from 170 default apks (78 and 340 if you count the odex files). I think deleting them won't do much now. But just curious, whether they are safe to delete or not.
Also google docs updated
Tested removing these :
BadgeProvider.apk - those badges on the app icon which displayed numbers of received messages/notifications. No crashes removing this.
CSC.apk - Can be removed after first boot. Not sure what it do.
Personalization.apk - said to be safe to remove, and so far it is. Not sure what it do.
NetworkLocation.apk - provide GPS location through Wifi, didn't use GPS on my tablet anyway
Keystring_DFT.apk - contains sets of USSD codes
Keystring_factory.apk - contains sets of USSD codes
Keystring_misc.apk - contains sets of USSD codes
No errors/crashes or anything. Updated first post.
Updated OP, now that I can post links, also added original threads.
Enjoy guys.

Smart Manager with Application Permission from Note 5

This is for those who wanted to have this function in their beast and yet no Note 5 rom is availble for their device , well smile..here you go
:good:Try at your own risk. I wont go in detail like step by step or what root explorer to use. You will have to figure it out. Im not trying to be mean but you will have to learn it =P
Your device must be rooted.
Download any rom that is made for Note 5 , custom or stock (make sure you ask for permission from the creator) , extract the folder "system/app/applicationspermissions"
and copy the folder (doesnt matter if is odex or deodexed) then paste it to your system/app/ and set the permission to the copied folder and the apk itself.
Then add the code below into your others.xml in you csc folder.
Code:
<!-- Smart Manager -->
<CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigDashboard>dual_dashboard</CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigDashboard>
<CscFeature_SmartManager_DisableAntiMalware>true </CscFeature_SmartManager_DisableAntiMalware>
<CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigSubFeatures>roguepopup|autoclean|autorestart</CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigSubFeatures>
Save , reboot and voila.
Bug
Nofitications - Block app notifications will FC.
Application Permissions - Sort by permission , will take some times to load the apps.
And it works , it does block what it offered.
Feel free to use
Thank you but nowhere i could got this foleder
system/app/applicationspermissions
can you please upload it.
Thanks in advance

How to correctly move app into /system/priv-app

I'm trying to find a way to move an app from /data/app to /system/priv-app correctly. I'm on Oreo 8.1.0 with January 5, 2018 security patches. I'm rooted with Magisk v16.0.
I've tried using ES File Explorer to move it manually and apply correct permissions. I've tried using Lucky Patcher and Titanium Backup Pro to move it. With the manual move and Lucky Patcher, the app disappears (icon/shortcut is shaded out and doesn't work). With Titanium Backup, it starts the processing and sits with "Processing" forever.
Does anyone know of a way to move the app to system correctly?
What app are you trying to do it for? The most efficient way that I've found is to...
1. Install the app normally.
2. Find the app within /data/app/ and copy the folder to your internal storage
3. Uninstall the app
4. Copy and paste the folder either into /system/app/ or /system/priv-app/
5. Reboot and see if it works

If you mount system in TWRP, you can use file explorer in advance setting to move any file anywhere. No need to set any permissions. Just reboot. Been doing that for while now. No problems at all.
I use root explorer, install app normal .got to data/app.copy to system/privapp.then go back to data/app delete the app, then reboot.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll give those methods a go.
I am trying to install an app in /system/priv-app and the app is not showing up in Settings -> Apps even with "Show system" selected.
This is on Google HTC Nexus 9 (flounder) Android 7.1.1 Security patch level October 5, 2017. I used TWRP to remount the root filesytem rw and move the app. I am trying to install com.incorporateapp.fakegps_route-1.
I installed the app from the Google Play store and copied it from
/data/app/com.incorporateapp.fakegps_route-1
to
/system/priv-app/com.incorporateapp.fakegps_route-1
The directory and all files and subdirectories are owner and group root.root. The permissions on the directory and files and subdirectories look correct. The com.incorporateapp.fakegps_route-1 directory is 755.
The directory and files are look to be correctly placed on the file system under /system/app-priv. I've checked multiple times. The app does not show up in System -> Apps even if "Show system" is selected. I understand that Android is supposed to find the new app in priv-app on boot and install it. That does not seem to be happening. Any other suggestions? Are there log files on boot I can check for error messages? Any help is appreciated.
TIA.
I have the same issue. When I move the fakegps app from data/app to system/priv-app then I have no icon to select the application from the home screen.
even after a reboot.
anybody knows how to get back the fakegps icon to be able to start the application?
If you guys are using Magisk root, I've found a module called App Systemizer which through a simple command line interface is able to convert apps you pick and choose from a list of installed ones on your phone to convert into system apps. Then when updates occur I use titanium backup's "integrate system dalvik into app" feature (it hangs so you have to force close it but it does the job) reboot and it's done.
The raw copy/paste way which has been described here has messed up my phone once or twice, and gave me a message on boot that "My phone has been corrupted or something along those lines and to contact the manufacturer".

App systemizer just grants the app the status "system app"(likely through linking and granting permissions). It in no way moves it to the system partition.
Ive come to the same realization after running into some questionable free space on my /system Hehe. I copy the APK using TWRP now seems to do the trick.

what version of android can you get, I'm not getting on android 10 can you help me?
Above method didn't worked for me. Below worked perfectly and is safe:
1. Install the app as usual.
2. Copy the app folder from /data/app to internal storage
3. Uninstall the app and reboot to recovery
4. Copy the app folder from internal storage to /system/priv-app folder (If you don't see system folder then you need to mount "system" partition in recovery first)
5. Give permissions to app folder (for all 9 checkboxes), reboot. Enjoy
Anyone else unable to see the folder with the app they moved after a reboot? I want to de-systemize, but I can't now.
I took the folder for the app I want to systemize and moved it from data/app to system/priv-app. Then rebooted. The app is now systemized (can't uninstall it, only disable) But the folder no longer exists under PRIV-APP.
I've done this many times with other apps and I've never seen this problem. Is it because I moved the entire folder and didn't rename it?
After reboot the folder can no longer be found under system/priv-app OR data/app. The app is still installed as a system app. Where is the folder with the app?
Running Android 9. Pixel 3.
I have come across a very strange phenomena on Galaxy M12. When I install an app as user it exists in /data/app forder in a weird way. The folders in /data/app are like ~~h8DR1aXXIZfV_DXfqwYf3g== (see attachment) and in these folders there is another folder with the app package name. On regular devices I hvae seen app package folder in /data/app itself.
When I copy the app package folder from /data/app/~~h8DR1aXXIZfV_DXfqwYf3g== to /system/app it does not work. I can see the app folder after reboot or even reset but app in not installed on the system. I have confirmed by running the activity using 'am' and tried listing with 'pm'. I have also given same permissions as other app folders in /system/app. I have also tried /system/app~~h8DR1aXXIZfV_DXfqwYf3g==.
Edit: As it turns out when I am copying to /system/app the base.apk is not copied properly. I have tried it multiple time, the system is mounted. Whatever I do it is either 0 kb or 100 kb exactl and the file is ~6mb. Still strange behaviour.
