Hey guys, ordered this in the UK but I'm hearing so many bad things about it.
No Gorilla glass
GPS problems
Feels cheap
Plastic
Crap camera
.....and so on!
£549 quid this cost me and feels like with all the comments it's only worth half that.
To those who own the handset, what's the build quality like and is it simply a good handset to justify the price?
Thanks
£549 is definitely far too much in my option. Simply because it's nearly £150 more than it's being sold for in the US.
My N1 set me back £412 after shipping and taxes.

Yeah I'm trying to stop myself from cancelling the phone and just picking up a Desire HD, seems like I get more for less money if you get me.

I can really understand your point, but this is google's phone, it will be updated constantly and all problems rectified quickly, i think it was rushed out for christmas..... HTC phones or Samsung phones are also not without their problems, and i think we are looking at the negatives too much without enjoying the many positives.
549 IS a rip off, thats understood... But we have to understand that the 330 pounds plus VAT & Shipping from the US will add to the price. There is no doubt that this phone is the best Android phone to date, we just need to give Google time to iron out the errors.
GPS is working fine with 98 percent of devices, which sort of falls into line with what we see with other devices.
When you get your phone, enjoy your purchase, and then wait for the next nexus, which will probably be next xmas to upgrade again. I have told myself now that nexus phones are the only way to have a good google experience. HTC phones have major build quality and hardware flaws, and coupled with there inability to even put a decent screen on their flagship device should be seen as showing exactly what they think of their customers. LCD on the Desire HD = Joke. It looks like someone threw domestos bleach over the screen from an off straight viewing angle, lol
Enjoy your device man... Because there is nothing better atm Well at least untill the next Nexus drops;P

I got mine in US. It is no Rip Off this is by far the best Android far i have used and i just came from a NexuS One. It is a good phone Im enjopying every moment of it. People just want too much. Even if it had all the stuff u mentioned people would STILL cry. You would'nt understand until you have it in your hands on it.
The price in the US is $529 which is £340.78. How much is the VAT, 17.5%?
The correct price in the UK should be £400.42.

Add around 50 quid for each phone to ship and CPW's large cut,
the phone's fair price should be 499.99
But alas, we do not live in a fair world.

Thanks for all the messages guys.
The price is rather shocking here in the UK 'like everything' so I'm kind of used to that. Sounds very cheaply built which I find very, very worrying for the price.

It does feel that way. But the perfomance is just out this world. It actually deosnt feel THAT cheap though
Reasons not to get the Desire HD
May not get Honeycomb officially (will defo get 2.3)
Internal and external speaker problems, and very quiet. Internal speaker has high static jolts when calling over 2g. This is also the same for the Desire Z.
Heavy phone over a large area, 160g.
Scratch the metal back and your phone devalues without possible rectification.
Terrible screen, big but blacks are very bleached and also you have a white hue over the phone when viewing from an off straight angle.
Horrible battery cover, gap in the back part + easily bends and warped....

Cool, been having a dodgy hour or two thinking about the phone cause I'm snowed in off work. Hahaha
I'll wait and judge when it's in my hands but I appreciate all the good comments guys.
The Super AMOLED screen will awe and amaze you. Fricking gorgeous.
I've also got an iPhone 4, Nexus One, and even a Galaxy S i9000. The Galaxy S and Nexus S are by far my favorite screens. I've also compared them to Desire HD, Droid X and a few others. The MyTouch 4G is the only thing that comes close in my opinion, followed right behind by the iPhone 4, but the iPhone's 3.5" is just too small.
Also, this phone is fast! Screw benchmarks, they're not real-world "feel" of the phone. Out of the box, this NS is as fast as my "lag-fixed" modded overclocked Galaxy S, which has posted Quadrant scores of 2200+.

Shipping? From where? It's not made in the US. Shipping from Asia to the UK should be the same as shipping from Asia to the US.
CPW is the UK version of Best Buy. The $529 is including BB's cut, the £400 should be including CPW's cut.
The correct price should be £400. Personally I'd be willing to pay £450, or even £500 if I got it now, before the 20th.

Samsung has big factory's in the USA as well, and if its made in South Korea i bet 1000000's that the USA have big deals with them for tax free importing. I still maintain that 499 pounds is a fair price...
I would be buying mine from my pal ogdobber in the usa but i need to make a purchase in the uk and have an imei number on the reciept to fulfil my requirements for my free insurance with my bank.
Love this phone, and love google

My NS is out for delivery now and I can't wait. I had to return the HD7 after 13 days becuase I could not stand the screen and talk about build quality, the battery cover didn't even line up so you could see the SIM card through the giant gap in the back.

If you're unsure, and own an N1, wait till it gets it's 2.3 OTA update, then go and compare it like for like with an NS in your local CPW.
I plan on doing that even though I'm pretty certain I don't want to get an NS heh
Hi, how you doin guys? I was thinking to get a Nexus 7 but actually im not sure if it is good or not. I want you the people who have it to tell me about it in general. Do you encourage me to buy it? I want it for watching movies in the airplane and play games. what about the battery?
thank you
I already jumped the gun. I ordered mine yesterday I saw it at staples and was playing around with it. Really impressed with the smoothness and the layout and the colours. The hardware is something you can't turn down for the price. and on top of all that, it's google supported so you know this thing is gonna get key lime pie for sure!
This is an interesting question taht I wanted to know. How much did everyone pay for it in TOTAL. I paid around $380.
I got the 16gb, with a 1 yr warranty from staples and taxes, that's what it came out to. man we canada pay out the ass for this ****
With estimations of maybe 6 millions Nexus 7 to be sold this year, you can't be wrong
http://thedroidguy.com/2012/08/google-to-sell-6-to-8-milllion-nexus-7-tablets-by-the-end-of-2012/
We have 4 in our immediate family, and are overjoyed with them. They are all perfect.
Me and the missus bought "his and hers" Nexus7, for less than the price of a single iPad.
Battery life is great, due to the 5th "tickover" core, something the iPad4 is bound to copy..If you are going to be watching movies, get the 16GB one.
We bought 3, 8gbs from staples. All of them work great. Family loves them, we are most likely going to get a fourth so the grandparents don't fight over theirs lol.

You bought the warranty? It looked like blatant robbery to me.
Got mine at staples for like 260 total. Awesome purchase.
Sent from my paranoid Nexus 7.
I have no regrets about getting mine, it's fantastic.
If I'd spent a while reading the threads on here beforehand I would never have done it though, so many complaints raised (which is always the way with the "General" forums on XDA-Dev) that would have put me off.

well from what I'm reading, there's been issues with : screen, speakers, lag on the home screen and so on.
So there is quite a bit of hardware issues. and this is the type of warranty i bought. If there is anything and absolutely anything wrong with my nexus 7, I can get a brand new one without hesitation. I bought it to be safe. I'd rather have peace of mind then be screwed over in the future.:good: either way I'm still happy with the purchase because I know I'm getting a quality device.
*remove links* it is a knock off but has pretty much the same specs. what do you guys think about this? i want to try it, should I or is it a scam?
haha...damn...I don't know about that, man.
You look @ it...and you see what it's meant to be...and then you see the price...and when it arrives, then you punch yourself in the nuts because it's hot garbage.
I found a similar "OEM" HTC DNA for around the same price, and got it.
I was thankful that it even arrived.
And if you didn't have to pick it up and hold it...you'd probably be satisfied...and then you'd get frustrated that the whole OS was a bootleg Sense UI.
Luckily the site I got it from had a refund policy and they stuck by it.
The amount of time that it took to arrive + the time to process my refund = time accumulated to save for the remainder of $ to get me a legit HTC One.
I don't wanna put a downer on your discovery of what might potentially be a gem...and trust me, I loves me a deal!!!
I'm just giving you my thoughts from my experience.
Scam dude, and even if it isn't, it's only $250. That means it didn't cost the developers much at all to make it. So even if it is legit, it's probably a piece of crap.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Nice find. You're right, pretty well spec'ed for a knock-off
From my experience with these kind of devices, even if well spec'ed, I find the major difference vs. the real deal is in the feel and overall build quality. Something that pictures won't show until you have it in hand. I tried something like this once with a previous device and couldn't get over the feel when I held it
The price seems attractive at first blush but in my opinion, still a bit pricey considering you're getting a knockoff. An alternative to this might be a last-gen flagship (i.e. SIII or One X). But the fact that you get a Snapdragon 600 at that cost may be worth the price of admission alone
With all that said, this might be worth consideration if you're stuck on a contract and the buyer likes the One but isn't super pickey about the details and overall polish

Hi all, just letting people know of the deal over at currys/pc world where you can get the tablet for £399 and get a cash back of £50 after 21 days.
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/ipad-tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/samsung-sm-p600-galaxy-note-3-10-1-wifi-tablet-16-gb-21795604-pdt.html
I was on the fence with this, but this priced pushed me over the edge and ended up upgrading my 2012 model this morning. If anyone has put up with the lag on the last model, they will absolutely love this model. There's a night and day difference in speed and this is before I've updated it.
I'm just trying to hold out from rooting it until custom roms come about as I can guarantee this'll be the best tablet on the market without a doubt once it's been slimmed down and optimised. Extremely happy with the purchase, even more so for that price.
Now back to playing PVZ2 in hi-res. Beautiful!
The £50 cash back only appears to apply to the white model.

Web site says £399 is price after the cash back.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
If the tablet is £300+ you get £50.
I can't link it but click on Full Terms Apply it'll show you.
The Official price is still £450 but with the cash back deal they allow you to buy it at £400.
BUT they do say that any purchase over £300 gives you cash back of £50, so I do hope you can claim the £50 because I think they have made a hash of things on their site, just like their description haha.
Anyways hopefully it works out coz that would be a canny deal.
You would be stupid to not buy this amazing tab this cheap.
You need to reread the website, £399 is the price AFTER the £50 cashback has been taken off.
So its 449, minus the £50, which is £399, which is the price they show.
EDIT Oh I see now, it looks like they've messed it up with a misprice? They sell it for £399 cash... hopefully the cashback will still apply

I would try it you have nothing to lose, Might be an interesting legal argument on the wording especially as to the "advertised price".
"Discount" or "cashback" 2 different sales definitions.
Go for it.
John Lewis is cheaper at £399 ... and they have the choice of the black and white models of the sm-p600
Just so the UK bros know - im working on a ROM, so dont worry about feeling left out or anything, we will definitly have some good stuff coming soon.
Definitely £399 - £50 = £349 after cash back
Just to clarify. They know it's not a mispriced as that's how it's being advertised in store as £349 (after cash back). Trust me I paid £399 for and received a coupon to claim the cash back after 21 days (the same length of time they no longer refund you if it becomes faulty) and before 60 days (picture taken with the Note 2014 in low light).
@punkmilitia I know right. I wondering if it'd be considered stupid to NOT buy one for my wife also even though I know she wouldn't half use it Thanks for not forgetting us tea drinkers as I'm dying for a rom. I have to ask when do you reckon will see these pouring through.

I couldn't find these offers through their website, I had to find them using Google! Definitely agree that they're muppets.

agreed that currys/pc world's web pages are confusing for this. the page for the white model says that £399 is after discount, the page for the black model doesn't say that. At first I thought it was the price for the original note 10.1, but the pictures are definitely for the 2014 model. The specs seem all over the place on the page as well, the processors are correct, but the o/s, ram, camera and weight look wrong to me.

I think what they mean by price after discount is that it use to be £449 in store, but later dropped it to £399 to match John Lewis and avoid having to pay the 10% difference they offer. The £50 cash back is only received after applying for it 21 days later.
I first thought it was for the older model too, but this is definitely a 2014 edition in front of me lol.
Here's the correct link to their entire tablet range, you can filter it by samsung on the left.

I suspect someone may have got wind of this and bought them all for ebay as these are bound to go back up to £450 and even still sell for that now over there. Who knows they may get some stock back in before the end of the year.

Personally - im aiming to release a rom when kitkat arrives. It includes tons of features and saves a lot of battery. I get 15 hours a day use now and it was about 11 hours vanilla. I might release it earlier though depending on demand.

KitKat! :crying: It took us ages to get jelly bean on the original note and I'm sure their flagship S4 just got 4.3 throwing us even further down the list. Of course beggars can never be choosers, however I wasn't going to get this tablet due to the lack of custom roms being available and I'm sure there are many who haven't for this reason.
As you know, Samsung make great devices, but clearly don't care when it comes to optimisation (it's spelt (omg it's correcting that too) with an s not a z stop correcting me!) and instead just keep adding more junk leaving them less stable. As much as I love my note right now, I won't be setting it up 100% as I know I'll be doing it all again the moment a sexy rom becomes available.
Conclusion: everyone start begging.
I'm sure many were like me, and after the announcement the 6P sounded amazing and you knew that if you didn't order it right away it would likely be sold out for months. Now that some time has past and we've seen some hands on, are you still going to keep your pre-order or cancel and wait for more reviews or a price drop?
I have the G4 currently and I keep going back and forth. If I was in the market for either the 6P would be the clear winner, but the fact that I have to sell my G4 and likely take a ~$200 hit on the swap, it makes me think twice.
I don't mean this to sound rude, but I fear it might come off a bit rude, but this is kind of a dumb question, if you ordered it, you should have only ordered it if you wanted it. Nothing has happened since it was released that makes it any less desirable, so why would people cancel? I saw the announcement live and watched hands on before I ordered, I knew what I was getting when I clicked order.

No i agree, op sounds ignorant. To the op you wont feel the way you do if you made a conscious and educated purchase. sounds like you may have made an emotional buy.

If you read my post, you'll see that's exactly what I said. During the announcement they talk up all these features to make you really want the device, and then when pre-orders opened up right afterwards you had to make a choice whether to buy it then or potentially wait months if the previous Nexus launches followed the same path this time.
The leaks on this device were more geysers than drips. In other words, everyone already knew everything, and the presentation was just confirmation. Even then, you had nearly an hour (from the time they stopped talking about Nexus) before you could really pre-order, giving everyone plenty of time to think about it first. Emotional impulse-buys were probably very minimal.
Op, not a bad question. I made an educated decision before I pulled the trigger on my pre order. I watched every Hands on video on YouTube, read as much as I could. I knew before hand that there was no wireless charging (metal body?) , no OSI and fast charging is questionable. So I know what I'm getting into and the n6p still sounds compelling!

Wait.. What. Why would anyone cancel their order? I was blown away by the release, and even moreso after the reddit AMA
the poll says it all
The features they "talked" up at the presentation seem to be panning out nicely in the hands on reviews. No foreseeable reason to cancel.
I buy and sell phones quite often, I actually am returning the iPhone 6s that I got to see what it was like (it was horrible haha). I was just curious if anyone else was like me where they buy phones on impulse and if any had already cancelled their orders.
Im giving the MS 950XL a chance to win my business, but pretty sure I'll keep the 6P at this point.

I think cancelling a pre-order is very different from buying a phone only to see how it works. The former does not really impact the selling cost and margin manufacturers have to add to recoup that cost. The latter does.
In the specific case of the 6P I don't think a person is "ignorant" for canceling a pre-order. Yes, Google provided quite a bit of information about the 6P. But, since release there have been legitimate questions about the quality of the panel, the quality of the camera, etc. Also, between release and when it starts shipping, other phones have and will come out.
Definitely, the 6P is the way to go for most of the people who've pre-ordered. Great for them. But that does not mean people who end up canceling are demonstrating their ignorance.
i hope all the 64gb graphite users cancel so I get mine sooner

What's your opinion on the 3d touch feature? I haven't been able to find an unbiased opinion on it. Most people over at /r/Apple think it's the greatest thing ever.

I get what you meant when you said that you had to order it right away.
I thought it was going to sell out in like 30 seconds so I said buy now and think about it later. Which I have done now and decided to stick with my decision. So far the initial impressions look good. Waiting for a full review from MHBHD, Android Authority and Pocket now which will probably take another month I'm guessing.
Coming from a Moto X Pure btw
I got it from Amazon with prime so I can keep returning it until I get the N6P

I bought a 6s Plus to give it a trial run, since my Nexus 6 busted and needed a device. I like to float between android and iOS.
The 3D Touch is actually kind of fun. Once it becomes more used in apps by developers, I can see it having a lot of power. It does feel very intuitive and gives a good flow to using the device. I will give it to Apple on the 3D Touch and A9 chip. The "Live Photos" thing is okay, doesn't work as fully advertised. If you have kids or pets you always photograph, then I can see it being useful, but Google introduced their version during the 6p launch with Burst Photos. Hope this helps.

Long time no see buddy. From the Dell Streak 7 days?!? =)
Or I could be mistaken.
I did the same thing. Buy it now and think more later.
For reasons like my previous bad experience with another Nexus device , including becoming a flashing whore. Thirsty for ROMs and spend way too much time doing non meaningful stuff. Sometimes a little curb on playing toys aint a bad thing
Plus 128GB 6p is quite expensive, after I saw closer my current credit card bill.

3d touch is nothing new.... Android has had this feature for years. The difference is Apple's is hardware based, and Android is software. Most developers don't take advantage of it but it's there...

Just cancelled my 6p 128gb graphite w/ Nexus Protect. The biggest reasons were 6p's band 12 would need T-Mobile's certification, and even if certified band 12 might not give the improvements that I hoped for. I pre-ordered b/c I was afraid that 6p would get sold out. But then I found it hard to justify $800 when my OPO is still plenty fast and a new N6 64gb can be had for $370.
