Flash v BBC iPlayer - Vega General

New to the vega and have just installed Vegacomb 3.2 Build 9n and 9b Update3. I can't seem to be able to get iPlayer to work, all I get is a message on the site saying 'You need to install Flash to play Mock the Week. Download the Flash player now.'
I presumed that Flash was built into the rom? I also managed to get the apk for iPlayer as it wasn't showing on the market but that just comes up with a blank screen. Youtube videos play fine through the built in app but not using the built in browser or Dolphin HD.
I have tried searching but come up blank, I found a 'fix' on another post but this didn't help.
Any pointers would be appreciated thanks.
*Just checked in applications and the version that is installed is 10.1.120.10

Sorted now, kind chaps over at Tablet Roms told me how to fix.

Found that thread.
You could at least point out for the folks on XDA that you had to update Flash Player to v11 thru the market and had to install an alternate browser like Dolphin Browser HD.
Good that you got it sorted out!

To run iPlayer on a Vega like tablet you can do it by installing iplayer v1.0 apk. It is not available on the Market, but can be found by searching on Googe. If you have problems finding it, I could upload it and give alink.

Installed latest flash player off market.
Runs iplayer after installing it from market.
Zero problems - but I'm on vegaics. Mayge its just doesn't like honey

How? lol
I installed it and so far no difference. I believe its installed as I see it under Manage Applications. Well wait, in the native browser when I click on video content it shows up with a play button, when I hit play it plays right in the browser really choppy though. Does this confirm its installed correctly? If so, why so choppy? Is it because the Aria has a processor under 1ghz?
No, the file posted above is NOT working for anyone running 2.1. What you guys are seeing in the browser is Flash Lite, which was ALREADY present and working on the Aria before you installed the above apk.
Again, do not install the apk posted above. It's just wasting space on your phone and not actually being used by the browser.
I installed the Flash 10.1 for Android 2.1 w/ sense. My understanding is that the flash 10.1 was altered to replace flash Lite. According to the Adobe website my flash version is 10.1.123.425. So I think one of them works.
See your flash version at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
That is what it says I have and I didn't install anything.

Yea it doesn't do anything. I can tell it loaded a page and quickly said htc flash or something.
I removed the 10.1 install and went to the page, no change.
So yea, don't bother with it. Useless.
But you can install Adobe Air!
http://phandroid.com/2010/07/02/install-adobe-air-for-android-now/
How do you remove the 10.1 install? I am not sure where it got installed :\
You just goto Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications
D'oh! I had gone in there previously but for some reason, I missed it.
Thanks!
is there a test site
I installed this right away before it was said it wouldnt work but whats the difference between the lite and the full i didnt do any testingbefore i installed it but all the sites i have tried work fine, im using stock rom i installed it using sdk but i play games on miniclip.com and i went to a flash test site and tried all the videos and and samples they had and all worked fine. i did not do any tests before.
is there a site i can go to that will show me its not working before i remove it thanks. also one thing i did notice is that before i installed i saw something somewhere i think it was in applications and i think it was com.htc-flashlite or htcflashlite something like that and i dotn see it anymore but i do see htc flash player and adobe flash 10 before i installed it i did do a clear cach on the htc flashlite whatever that was(prolly just a flash lite bright screen) but i cant find it now not sure where i saw it.

[Q] flash videos won't work anymore

hi i have an issue of flash vidoe's won't work anymore on my kindle fire from sites other than youtube like www.watchop.com which they used to work when i first got my fire and now i only get sound from www.watchop.com with no pic ,, and on some other websites i get nothing the video it self won't stream
my fire is rooted i have the market on it .. i added ics keyboard and rtl language support .. i have dolphin web browser , im on Go lanucher and i have widget locker.
i just think something is intefreing with my flash player .. any help ?
Don't see any problems.
hey buddy i have the same problem last week,
i found the cause of this is because after i installed the market, i updated the flash player 11 to the latest version.
once i uninstalled the update of the flash player (becoming the stock version that came with the fire), everything's fine now!
hope this helps.
Adobe Flash Player v11 seems to be having problems with the Kindle Fire.
So what you need to do is downgrade your Adobe Flash Player to the LATEST version of v10 (there'll be less bugs that way).
The latest version of v10 is Adobe Flash Player 10.3.186.7
Here is the download link:
http://db.tt/bnSja2n2
Download it and install.
That should fix your problem
Thanks!

How do you get flash video streams to work?

I had an older adobe flash 11 version apk i installed and that didnt work. It only showed the blue cube symbol. Any way to make it work?
I use Dolphin Browser HD 8.5.1 and Flash 11.1.115.17 and get no problems other than full screen not working.
Another one of these...
Boat browser + latest Flash *.apk (here on xda). No problems at all, even full screen works properly.
Or Firefox + flash 11.1.115.17.

Thanks, was worried because on the sgn didnt have this issue with an older version of flash and on the nexus 7 it didnt work. Also, when I went into playstore to get the adobe flash it said was compatible with my device which sucked.
1. Flash: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html (scroll down to Flash for Android 4.0)
2. Browser:
Firefox: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsIm9yZy5tb3ppbGxhLmZpcmVmb3giXQ..
Boat: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...r.free&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
3. ....
4. profit.

Boat doesn't work for me with .17 Flash. I get the blue cube symbol as well so I'm sticking with Firefox which plays 90% of the videos I've tried at least.
I must have something wrong in the settings for the Boat Browser is all I can think of.
When I go to the Flash Application Settings the only choices there are Peer Networking or Local Storage. Whatever the heck I'm suppose to choose outta the two there baffled me so I just left it on local storage and it doesn't let me go any further than that but at least Firefox works set that way.
Never mind. I didn't have .17 after all.
Got 11.1.115.17 for ICS from the Adobe dev site and both Boat and Firefox beta play Amazon Prime video with sound full screen now.
Guess I don't need to sell my N7 and get a Fire HD after all.
I am having the same problem with Boat and the last couple of versions of Dolphin will not let you enable Flash.
I tried Firefox and can get the video but no sound.
I am using the latest Flash apk from the Adobe dev site, do I need to use the modified apk from xda instead?
Where can I get an older version of the Dolphin apk, before they blocked Flash?

Q: how to play flash video on websites using firefox or chrome?

Hey all, I have gotten my new nexus 10 and loving it! I rooted it and unlocked it already but I can't get flash to work I tried installing the flash 11.1 apk and restarted but firefox or google is a no go. I have 4.2.1 running as of now, could someone please point me in the right direction to getting flash installed on here? Thanks!
Chrome does not support flash. Quick Google search revealed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28799533
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-android-supports-flash-learn-how-enable-itI don't use Firefox so I don't know if it works.
Alternatively, AOSP browser, Boat browser, ocean browser, and maxthon support flash.

thanks so much! For some odd reason the flash version I got didn't work, following your guide got both firefox and dolphin browser to work flawlessly! Let's hope all flash site works.
Is there anyway to stop the Flash version of Dolphin apk from being automatically updated to the latest non-Flash version?

It won't matter, 4.2.2 doesn't have the native ability to use flash. There are a couple of threads floating around with people claiming different browsers will work with flash on 4.2.2, but I have only tried "Boat" browser and could not get it to work. I also remember seeing a thread that has a mod in it that that uses a different build prop and modified APK to make flash work with 4.2.2 but I haven't tried it either. You can use the search function to try to find the thread I am talking about and maybe it will help you. Good luck.

I'm telling you guys, I've tried all the browsers with flash- aosp, boat, naked browser, the only one which works consistently and absolutely flawlessly is dolphin with the latest flash from Adobe's website and dolphin jetpack installed and active. I've never encountered flash that wouldn't play properly, and it is always fully functional (unlike the next best browsers like boat and aosp, which for whatever reason seem to have difficulty using flash navigation/seek bars/play/pause, etc, which works great in dolphin). Give it a shot. You might have to do the dolphin trick to enable flash to "always on" (either by restoring a titanium setting for a previous dolphin install or by deleting a particular dolphin settings file in your phone, I forget which, but I can look it up if anyone's curious), but I'm telling you, flash works beautifully on this phone as long as you have the proper tricks/browser.
Now, as far as Google recognizing flash is still essential, I completely agree. Until the web is flushed of all things flash, it is asinine to argue that since flash is not as efficient as it should be, people shouldn't use it in their websites, and we shouldn't be able to watch it. The web is full of flash, and acting like it's not there doesn't solve anything.

How did you get it working on the AT&T S4? I tried and it would not work. Maybe your method differed from mine. If your method works then there shouldn't be a problem with others getting it to work. Thanks.

Nothing special:
1. I enabled Flash Player in Boat Browser Pro (Settings>Page Content Settings>Enable Flash/Plug-ins to Always ON)
2. Installed the latest Adobe Flash Player - use the suggested link/download.
Also, there seems to be a way to enable Flash support in the stock browser; I haven't tried it yet (although I plan on) but you can give it a try and let us know.
I don't know how you're using Flash with Dolphin. In the app itself it says that Dolphin no longer supports Flash on Android 4.1+.
It works with Firefox.

That is exactly what I have done and it acts like the flash player wants to start playing content, but just shows a blank screen and a few seconds later force closes boat browser. The only difference I can tell is that I am using the free version of boat browser but the flash plugin "always on" option is still there? I already know about the other ASOP option, but I think I might try Dolphin browser to see if it will work. So I am glad it is working for you, but I don't think it works for all.
**EDIT**
I didn't try Dolphin browser...too much crap involved. But I did install Firefox with the latest Android Flash APK and it is working for me just fine. If there won't be any ROMs with flash baked in (once the bootloader is unlocked) I will probably go with the ASOP option, but Firefox will do for now.

There are a variety of ways to get flash working on the latest version of Dolphin. The easiest is to find version 8.5.1 circulating on the web, install it, set the flash to "on demand" or "always on," do a titanium backup, then update to the latest version of dolphin, and then do a titanium restore of just the dolphin app data (not the app itself). This will restore the setting for flash to either "on demand" or "always on," depending on which you had set it to in 8.5.1. Besides this, there are a bunch of other methods including deleting a particular setting file, which will automatically enable flash. They are described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846225
But as I said, flash only works perfectly on Dolphin if you also install the Dolphin Jetpack from the Play store. If you don't, it semi works (similar to the way it "works" with boat... some files play fine, some stall, some crash, and most won't show the seek bar/pause/play during playback). With Jetpack installed and activated, flash plays just like it does on my computer.
