You are actually given an email when you register [email protected] where you can send directly to your kindle.

You can download and use this program http://calibre-ebook.com/
to convert and send the books to your kindle via usb. This is what I have been using when I need to convert books.

True. This is what I do.
Download the program, there is an option to select kindle fire as your ebook reader. You can use it to convert books to .mobi format. Once you do this, put it in the books folder with all your other books via USB.

What formats does the KF support for eBooks?

heres how u do it! Use calibre and then send books to device. mobi is kindle format

I am also trying to load books on my fire. i have cm7 and have tried several different readers (books, amazon, google docs) and have tried pdf and mobi (with and without the pdoc). i have also tried to send to my amazon account and have placed these in my books and documents folder but still cannot get it to show up. what am i doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Had this problem as well with mobi files. Check under Docs instead of Books, odds are they'll be in there

Even if you are using CM7 you can install the app call Kindle that let you read books in mobi format.. You can download any book on pdf and then convert it with calibre and put the book in the folder named Kindle
Edit: at this moment I'm usingCM7 and can read mobi books easily try it

Working with Kindle

Just getting the Vibrant from a G1 I noticed that Amazon's Kindle comes loaded on the device. If I had some ebooks installed is there a way to load these PDF files or do you recommend another alternative to using viewing ebooks?
i have not tried using pdfs with the kindle reader but the books are stored in /sdcard/kindle/ you could try sticking it there and see if it works
Put it in the dir /sdcard/kindle/ doesnt seem to be loading. Seems like it only registers pdfs/books that you have purchased from Amazon store?
Any other recommendations for a pdf viewer?
Downloaded the RFS and id love to read on the go ;p

I dont use pdfs too often so I'm not the best to answer, but I know there is an official Adobe Reader in the market
I use Aldiko for the books I can't read in kindle.
The official Adobe Reader app is a really good PDF reader in my opinion and it's free.

Same thing with Borders' eReader app. They don't allow you to read epubs or pdfs that you've copied to the phone/sd card manually. They only access your online amazon/borders library.
Aldiko is a good free epub reader.

Kindle...side loading books?

Is it possible to side load kindle books? I bought a kindle book from a non-amazon-specific site (http://www.monergismbooks.com/Overcoming-Sin-and-Temptation-eBook-p-19461.html) and then uploaded it to the kindle PC app and synced it.
I can't sync it to the phone. And sending it to the phone through dropbox doesn't seem to work either.

if it's in .mobi, you should be able to just place it in the "kindle" folder on your SD card. I have several ebooks that were in different formats that I converted for the wifes kindle into .mobi from other formats (epub, .lit etc) using calibre. I can place them in the folder on my droid X and the kindle app will open them just fine.
Thanks, I think I tried that, but I'll screw around with it some more. Where can I find the calibre program?

[Q] eReader problems.....

Has anyone had any problems with their ereaders..??......I have tried multiple ereader apps such as Aldiko, Kindle, etc.......none will read any of the books I have put on the micro-sd.......I even tried converting from pdf to epub......I must be doing something wrong.......any ideas..??.......I would love to have the ereader from the Pandigital Novel, but I can't figure out how to move it over.......
What were the formats you tried?...PDF typically works fine...there are several PDF readers available...Each of these reader apps support certain formats...maybe you did not match them correctly ( meaning reader app with ebook format)...if you need a program for conversion on PC try Calibre ( freeware) ...very good ...supports magazine subscription and much more...an dthen you can move ebook in corrcet format back to Elocity ( sd card or usb)

Regards
I have both the Nook and Kindle e-readers installed from the Market and working just fine, but I have downloaded my books from their stores, not sideloaded via SD.

Even better with calibre you can run the built in web server and just download the books you want with the browser.
Personally I use FBReader for actually reading the books.

Sideloading books

I loaded some books in mobi format onto over USB, and they don't show up in the books section until I reboot. Is there any way to get the library to refresh without rebooting?
i think sideloaded books show up as documents
I convert them using Calibre and then sync to the device. http://calibre-ebook.com/

any presets you use?
Just convert to mobi format.

[Q] Where do I put my ebooks (personal library) for Kindle?

I just got my Nexus 7 and can't figure out where I put my mobi format ebooks so Kindle will recognize them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Same with the Nook app
Copy them to the kindle folder on your nexus 7 from your PC
The full directory for Kindle is below mate, if you haven't found it yet:
/sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.kindle/files
Don't use any folders, or they don't show up. Just put the .mobi file in there.
Not too sure where to put the nook files as I don't use the app
Can I suggest using a different e-reader app? The kindle app is sort of a joke. Limited format (.mobi) and slow. Try aldiko (free) or mantano (a few bucks, but totally worth it).
Thanks
Thank you all for the response. At first my Nexus didnt show the Nook and Kindle directories but after a reboot there they are.
Again Thanks
Look into Calibre (free application for managing books) and Calibre Library (android app) if you haven't. Lets you connect wirelessly to your library of books on a PC and download them straight to the Kindle on your device. I am using this approach for my N7 and finding I like it better than what I do with my Kindle Touch (load everything via USB and Calibre)
