Hi all
I installed ICS a couple of days ago and realised now my usb file transfer to phone storage is extremely slow! it's around 1 to 2 MB/s
Any idea why?
No clue why. they pulled ota maybe when released again it will be fixed.or a dev will fix
In mean time I use cwr mount SD to transfer 1gb and up files since it allot faster..transferring normal files its fine

OK, so if I understand correctly.
you're also having this problem, and you are mounting USB with CWM Recovery to copy files as a workaround?

Can't vouch for him, but that's what many people are doing as a temporary workaround until this bug is fixed, yes.
It might have something to do with the fact that ICS uses a different kind of file transfer protocol for non-removable storage..

Soooooo
Im in the middle of flashing, I partition the SD card after wiping.
ROM is gone from SD card
I wiped the phone
I dont have a way to copy ROM to phone
Phone doesn't boot now.
What do I do!
A) Get another phone that takes microSD memory
B) Find a local computer store (Fry's, Best Buy, or whatever is in your area) and get one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820223088 (Everyone should always have one of these anyway; very handy and very cheap.)
And a microSD to SD adapter if you don't already have one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220222
Did you flash another recovery already? Some recoveries allows you to mount the USB storage stuff.

Hello everyone. I tried to search answer to this question, but so far found nothing.
This is known issue, when using Android SD build.
When I transfer files to my phone, the apps do not see the files. I have to restart my phone in order to see them. Does anyone knows how to fix it? I found ROM that I love, and it turns out to be such frustrating.
PS: I am also a noob, just got HD2 this afternoon.
Do you mean that you transfer them from your PC? If that the case it's worth checking if you not connecting to PC through Disk Drive, as this making "sd card" inaccsesible from phone apps. When you disconnect from PC, your files should be visible to the apps again.

You can install SDRescan.

Download MULTI MOUNT from market, and use it to enable the SD to the PC (not the android built in function) This is a must for all SD builds! cause with the standard method you can corrupt your data.Multi Mount allos the phone and the pc to access the card at the same time with no risk

No, as of now it can't be connected to a computer. It won't mount.
Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have the same problem as robvaldy with the sd card after installing mod 1.3. when I reinstall the firmware update PBJ8000.2.0127 for the A7 the card is recognized again. I haven't tried to use use the usb yet. Its just annoying having to shutdown to remove d sd card every time. Otherwise, I'd like to thank Dexter for a really sweet hack.

If you are on HC 3.2 you have use of Sdcard, but the issue is read-only? I think it''s a Google issue as it itt a software not hardware issue.
Well, I wonder how ICS wiill handle it..bringing phones with liittle internal storage together with big bellied tabs.
There are no issues with read/writes on SD cards, once 3.1/3.2 has been installed. Just make sure you are using an approved vendor of SD cards with your device.
Mostly everywhere there was a 3.1 or 3.2 update ....i was on my holiday in Hungary and got the 3.1 EU update....there should be no issues at all anywhere

on an unrooted xoom? are you saying you have no issues writing to mnt/external1 on the device itself? No connected via pc.
I imagine it's a google issue to fix, ICS may fix it - or a 3.2.x / 3.3 might do it too

Hmm, never occurred to me to try it that way, as most of my file transfers are done via PC. Sure enough, it looks like Google doesn't permit '777' on /mnt/external1.
I tried a rooted workaround by giving su access to /mnt/external1 and it still doesn't work. Grr...

I see you have installed CWM v4004 that doesn't recognize the microsd card, rather than the Tiamat v3200 R4c that does flash from it and backup to it. Did you have a reason for using that version or just let Rom Manager update it? I know that it has been a source of frustration as people try to flash a kernel or rom from their external microsd card and CWM doesn't see it and they can't understand what has happened as they followed the flashing instructions...
That said, Steady Hawkin just came out with a new custom recovery based on this version of CWM (v4004) that flashes from a usb drive...interesting. I'm not sure what the benefit would be, but it's worth a look.
If you have the stock 3.2 rooted, just use ROOT EXPLORER.

I installed that version through ROM Manager. I usually like to keep those sorts of programs updated.

This update is incompatible with the use of the external microsd card. You will not be able to flash a custom rom or kernel from your internal "sdcard" so if you don't care about that, carry on, as you were.
I prefer to keep the stock ROM as I have had stability problems with ported ROM's on other Android devices.
First I want to thank dzo for his amazing work. Thanks to him, we now have an almost fully functional ICS port!
Now, to get to the point... I upgraded from dzo's v.1.1 to v1.2 ICS yesterday. The ROM is very nice and smooth, and it seems like everything is functioning like it should. BUT, after my first reboot after flashing v1.2, I got the message about corrupt sdcard. So I rebooted into recovery, then rebooted to recovery through recovery again P), and then rebooted normal. The message was still there, so I unplugged the sdcard from my phone and plugged it into my computer through a cardreader. The PC said I had to format it before use, so that's what I tried.. the format-window hung up, and stood still on 0% for about an hour. I got kinda bored of waiting and unplugged the sdcard, then put it back into my phone. Now my phone says something like: "blank sdcard or has an unsupported filesystem etc.). I've tried several sdcard formatting programs, but nothing seems to work :S Now my PC doesn't even recognize my sdcard as an sdcard anymore, but as an empty disk or something.
The worst part is that I actually bought my sdcard yesterday, the same day as got corrupted/blank..
any tips would be appreciated!
edit: My sdcard is a SanDisk Class 4 16GB
Hi,
I have the same sdcard and in most cases my U8800 Pro does not mount correctly this microsd. I don't know if this is a kernel problem or a rom problem.
Anyway I advice you to format your sdcard with a specific format-tool, please download it here:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/sdfmt3_1.zip
This is a free software developed by Panasonic (if I'm not wrong).
This tool helped me with my sdcard BUT I have to say that Huawei U8800 is a little buggy for the sdcard mount.

Thanks for your reply! Actually I have allready tried ths program. I installed, and opened it. Then I connected the sdcard to the PC, but the program said it couldn't recognize it... So just to be sure it wasn't the program, I tried to connect another sdcard, and that one was recognized. Weird stuff...
Maybe the card is just broken?
This happened to me too. There is nothing you can do, the sd card is broken. Reformatting is impossible, since no reader will recognize the card. You'll just have to buy a new card or get it replaced via warranty.
I have the exact same problem olfyboy, I think the card is ruined
That sucks! :/
well.. time to use my good old 2gb then..
hello guys
plug you sd card in your mobile go in recovery and check did it show your sd card there if not go in advance option reboot in recovery again...
i hope this time you see your sd card
if it this method not work then put ur sd card in some Symbian phone (Nokia, sony ericsson) in symbian phone you are able to format
i hope this method work for you best of luck
maybe a software named Usboot can help you.
Pls try aurora 1.4. Dzo solved sdcard problem
Thanks for your replies guys!
Sadly I think my sdcard is completely broken. No device is able to recognize it, and those who can, says that it's completely blank or does not have a supported file-system.

No..

And, no, I can't put any files on it.

I'm still in the same position too, I've tried all the suggestions here.
I can read files but can't write or format.
Read speed is VERY slow (a few bytes per second)
I can't even read my files. I tried my sdcard with 2 different pcs. And none of them recognize it. I think its ruined.

No.. our sdcards are probably completely broken. Nothing to do with it :/ The only thing you can do about it, is really just to buy a new one.
I, myself, have ended up using an old 2gb sdcard..
I don't get why is happens or why it only happens to us. Any ideas what caused it? I don't care sd-card but I really want my images back in that card. =)
Maybe I can help you

what is the OS on your PC?
maybe I can help you. first of all you have to install a recovery software on your PC ( I prefer "Recover My Files") and extract your photos from SD to your PC.
then if you ask me I will tell you how to format your SD and use it again.
Idk is it a same situation but 2 weeks ago my sd went broke. Ics was showing its empty which i was sure it wasnt. First i tried it with my old phone but no luck. I can connect it to my comp (both win and ubuntu) via sd card reader and no luck. Then i tried fix permissions in cwm and then it recognized, all my old files were there.
I know it doesnt make any sense but if you guys didnt try this just give it a luck.
G luck.

I think you misunderstood the situation. My phone or my pc doesn't recognize the sdcard. Thy not see ant disk when I attach it. I know what your meaning but the problem bigger than this.
