XDA App - Acer Iconia A500

I posted this in the Theme and App section as well so if one has to be deleted, feel free, but I figured it would get more people to see it here. Anyway, I have not been able to get the XDA app to work on my A500 at all. As soon as I go to settings or try and click on a thread I get force closes. It happens every time.
I have tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it and that doesn't work either. I also just got an update to 3.2.1 and that didn't help either.
Any ideas?

i take it you haven't rooted? try clearing the app cache, maybe that's giving the problem. Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > XDA App > Clear data
that said, the app isn't really optimized for tablets and while it does load faster than the forums via browser, it seems pretty.. i don't know.. naked. i usually prefer reading them via browser.

I had the same experience, I use Tapatalk - not free - but a great forum reader.

Use the premium version. It's a good excuse to buy it and support the site that has done so much for us.

I've emailed to developer in february. Installed two new versions for this period, but error still here.
the XDA app is just a limited version of the Tapatalk app.
For some reason the XDA version seems really unstable and FC's at the drop of a hat.
I think it is either based on older Tapatalk versions, or it relies on something that was removed to cripple it.
I bought the Tapatalk Pro app (worth the purchase) and haven't had an FC since.
Thanks again netstat sem to work on a7 just fine to bad I paid for xda also

The xda app is free, how did you end up paying for it?
premium is what I would say.
Yep premium in the market. At least it works on my phone

(Poll) Tapatalk 2 or xda premium [app]

I am going to get one of the apps and I want to know which is easier and more efficient.
Also which has better features?

I bought them both and they don`t differ that much. With tapatalk you can enter different forums and store them all. XDA can only be used for the xda forums afaik.

Solely interested in xda then go for xda app but if varied interest then think about tapatalk.
Not very difficult to choose from

Ya I was going to get tapatalk until I found the xda app and wondered if I was missing out on features, seeing as it's the official app. Thanks for the replies
Tapatalk is better because you can enter to diferents forums but, xda app is the best for this big forum :good:
depends on your usage, if you wanna control various forums from your device the tapatalk is the way. only xda? then xda premium app
They are both inefficient, outdated, battery draining piles of crap; sadly there's no alternative that I know of offering the same kind of features.
If you buy the xda app it monetarily supports this site.

I too own both, but since I also post at Android folrums and they re-enabled tapatalk support, I have to go with Tapatalk. Everything in one window.
I have Tapatalk and don't know about XDA premium. Is there anything XDA premium can do better than Tapatalk?

Not really no. Its made by Tapatalk, but just for XDA. Its tapatalk lite.
The XDA app allows you to see the XDA portal(newspage) and I haven't found a way to do that with tapatalk. From the top menu in the XDA app press more then news. Other than that its what everyone else says, for multiple forums, tapatalk, just for xda, then xda app.

I think XDA Premium app is better for access to XDA, I have both because I prefer to have straight access to XDA which is the only forum I visit often. The XDA app is also good for easy access to the XDA portal, but since changing from a HTC Desire HD to a Samsung Galaxy S3 its easier and much better to use the main website to access the portal.

By the way, why is it so important to let the whole world know that one is using Tapatalk? I'm referring to the signatures like "sent from ... using ...".
Why do you even need an app you are using the Galaxy SIII man it's pretty much a computer in your pocket and has no issues loading the forum on its stock browser.

It's the default signature, clearly a sneaky tactic by the author to get some free advertising.

I believe on cm9 it gives you the option to temporarily disable root.
Might come in handy?
also you need to make sure your boot.img is secure eg

What's your thoughts on this new update. It's having a hard time loading my subscribe forums.

It's been working petty smooth for me. The update did say to clear your app data before updating. That might help.
And the ui is different, but it does look and feel more modern and it feels more smooth.

The new XDA app seems to use the same UI as Tapatalk 4. It's about time they got rid of that awful Gingerbread-inspired UI that the app used for faaaaaaar too long.

You guys do know that the the xda app has always been the tapatalk app but just limited to one forum, right?
And @Joe0113, I called it over in the s3 forums you had asked something related and I said that as soon as the Tapatalk 4 app is worked out, the xda app would probably get updated since it's the exact same app

I would say that it's limited to one site rather than one forum, but yes, I'm aware

Well, since they're basically the same app, and you only use XDA on Tapatalk, why would you prefer Tapatalk over XDA? I actually prefer the new XDA app since I only use XDA and I wasnt able to find a 'thanks' option in Tapatalk. Otherwise they're functionally identical.

I just thought of Tapatalk as the Mercedes Benz of forum browsers lol.
I had some problems too with loading the subscribed forums after I updated. I just uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and all is good again. I tried both the tapatalk and this xda app, and honestly I love the xda app way better. IMHO. The investment in the xda pro app is deffinetly worth it.

XDA App? KitKat

is it me or is the XDA app a little buggy since the KK upgrade?
Mine never highlights the correct message and force closes a bit.
I actually just restored my tab to so its a brand new install.
Not a huge deal but just wondering if the app was bing updated or its just something with my tablet.
thanks

The point is we shouldn't HAVE to use tapatalk. I don't follow a lot of forums so the XDA app and Bacon Reader is all I need. It should just work. Especially the paid version.
