yeap.. i have used it and it worked after i used JIG...
its not mine BTW.. i just shared...

Dude the day they released the new bootloader is the day we figured out how they were blocking the Jig reset and made the old bootloader available for download as a separate tarball and also started to package the firmwares with the old bootloader.
You're very late. All that person has done is nothing other than recreate my work. http://www.chainfire.eu/articles/103/_SGS2_KI_Samsung_removes_USB_host_support_patches_bootloaders/

So if I flash the tar with Odin my counter will be reset to 0, without the need of a Jig? Or else?

You need the jig. It's just the bootloader.

You've just reminded me... I need to reset mine after playing with ICS.
... now how do I do it again, do I need a PIT file in Odin, or is there a CWM package available?
... will this void my warranty? Is it an official release? Is it on Kies?
</sarcasm mode>

everything else comes naturely.

Is there a limit in the download counter? Would you advise me to get a jig sooner rather than later?

USB Jig for S4

I've tried my USB jig on my i9505 and my uncles i9500 with my jig and my brothers jig, and surprisingly, they still get the phones into download mode. I'm not sure if it resets the flash counter though.
Feature:
Forcing device into download mode.
Removing Triangle but not resetting flash counter??? (Still Unconfirmed)
TL;DR USB JIGS DO WORK, HOWEVER THEY ONLY PLACE THE PHONE INTO DOWNLOAD MODE!
I'll update the thread for newbs and noobs with a guide on how to use a USB jig, it's a good investment if you're scared you might brick your phone, they cost around a £1.
If you cannot obtain a USB Jig by purchasing, consider borrowing one, here are threads that have names of people who are available to lend you a USB jig:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891197
Or make one yourself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604707
(IT WON'T WORK IF YOU HAVE USED THE WRONG .pit FILE AND RE-FORMATTED, YOU NEED TO USE A JTAG RIFF, NEW MOTHERBOARD OR SEND BACK TO SAMSUNG!! (Personal Experience ;A)
Just did the same yesterday and was surprised too :cyclops:
My my counter was 0 so I can't tell ...
So PLS somebody with a counter > 0 and good old JIG LOL

I thought it'd stop working after the S3 but I'm happy it works, now I don't have to buy more tools and shiz!
Off-topic:
Also my post restrictions are really annoying!
My counter is currently on 3 so, if no one tries it in the mean time, I will try this with my I9100 jig at home later this evening and let you know if it resets it.

I think after the S3, It should really just be called a jig instead of assigning it a certain model Thanks btw! <3

So it puts the device into download mode, does not reset the flash counter but does get rid of the triangle noting an insecure kernel? Then it works better than it does on the S3

Seems like it. I did not use the triangle away or anything like that but I did flash an insecure kernel for rooting and did not get the yellow triangle.
Also confirming that usb jig will go into download mode, but will not set counter to 0 or "official". Used triangle away to do that.

Since USB jigs are confirmed to at least place the phone into download mode, shouldn't we tell a mod or someone to place a link or something to the "Borrow a JIG" thread that's in the S2 and S3 forums?

To reset the counter by jig we need an unlocked bootloader. The jig works, but we don't have the proper bootloader ...

S4's and S3's never had a yellow triangle when flashing. Only the country went up and in some cases a tiny red exclamation mark.

It's hanging at the samsung screen after odin rebooted it.?
Wait for about 5 - 10 EARTH minutes.
Also make sure sure that the file you got is about 1.5GB before extraction.

ok, that happened before with my E4GT. Odin wouldn't read it though then, but I will give it a try
Here's a thread with more download options too.
I had two phones that had issues and took me some real patience to get the download (took a very long time!) then to got through what it sounds like you are.
I got patient, pulled the batteries and let them sit while I made lunch and ate. Put batteries back in and started process again. Then when the samsung logo just 'hung' I said 'F it' and just waited. Eventually moved on to Yellow screen and hung there, but I just walked away and came back a pretty long while - for this A type, and it was at lock screen!

I tried that as well...... Nothing.. This is CrAzY. I wonder if I can take this into Sprint. I have stock recovery now, no flash count it just says samsung galaxy s4 and thats all it will do. Maybe say I held off on the MF9 OTA and finally decided to do it and this is what I was left with. Also I really appreciate your help man! I am now trying an MDC tar in hopes I can just OTA back up. Something HAS to work.

Hi everyone I have been a long time lurker here and need a bit of help please.
I was trying to unlock my GT I9505 via the service menu but I accidentally deleted my EFS folder so now my IMEI shows just /02 and nothing else.
Is there any way to restore this or can anyone log on to my PC and do something I have no problem making a Paypal donation in order to sort this.
I appreciate your help.

[Q] cant unbirck help please

so my friend download an app and didn't read anything about it before he installed the app. The app was suppose to replace the home launcher but he was suppose to install another app before he installed it but he didn't. I have tried Odin, Kies, and Heimdall with no luck. I have tried them on different computers and with different cables. His phone is a SGH-I337, yes it is rooted but only for one app that was installed that doesn't affect anything. But now it only go to the download screen with the android man even when booted up normally it only fails the [auth] on Odin and it wouldn't even connect to Kies. Any help would be GREAT, he is only giving me 2 day to try and fix it for him then he is going to buy a new phone. Thanks in advance EVEN IF ITS JUST GUESS I'll still give it a try.

Well, I did hard brick my Galaxy Grand 2. For my hard brick cause, is when I flash Gennxt kitkat superior on my Rooted JB Grand 2.
After I installed it, there is no bootanimation. Instead of blank screen with vibration and then reboots again.
So my problem was Hard bricked and bootloop.
I send my phone to Samsung service center in Indonesia. After the reparation is done, there is a slip.
They say that the circuit board needs to replaced and reinstall stock fw.
And my phone reparation was free! :victory::laugh:
But the good thing is the Technician didn't notice that I already voided my warranty.
Because of the hard brick making me saving money for $75 or $100! Lucky me!

Error when flashing upgrade? Do you mean THIS screen?
Firmware update encountered an issue.
Please flash it again using Kies, or something like that?
That is a soft bricked, my friend. The problem can be fixed by reinstalling Stock firmware.

If you are not able to go to download mode or recovery mode, even the service center will not be able to say that the warranty is void. so if your phone is under warranty, take it to the service center and tell them PC conked off while updating thru kies.
Please click on thanks if you think I helped
