i use CWM 3.0.2.8 SD boot img
format system = OK
format cache = OK
format data = error formatting

Look for CwMR v3.2.0.1 or above.
ok... worked that out... installing CM7 251 nightly (saw that 253 have some problems)

is there a step by step tutorial or writeup that can direct me on the files i need to download and the commands i need to type to restore this sucker back to stock and try again?
use cw to partition the drive, search "partition" Its something like 2048 & 512 ..dont quote me on that though. Do a search, thats what I had to do to mine to bring it back

You could try using CWR to format the sdcard (internal mem). Go to Advanced and there should be an option there. I was getting this error at one point so I formatted with CWR and it seems to have resolved. I used the 4096M and 64M options when asked.
Then you should be able to flash whatever ROM you want with CWR.
Thank you Photonmedia for the help. I too had this problem and it was fixed with a format and re-partition. However, now I don't have a restore image on the Gtab. I know, I'm an idiot...Luckily, it finally booted back into CM6.1 and i was able to move a vanilla update.zip to the internal mem.
I have magldr 1.13, recovery 250mb. i wiped everything (dalvik cache, cache partition, user data, everything i could). I made a 250mb partition on my sd card (ext4 with 4kb cluster size). I downloaded the zip file. flashed the rom. it installed but im stuck at the htc green boot logo.
any help would be great thanks.
you probably need more than a 250meg ext partition

Hi,
You should Go to ad recovery>advanced>Partition SD Card...1024m with 0 swap.Remember: ALL data on your SD Card will be erased!(Therefore, back it up)
and then try again.
If you look carefully the 260M partition is for system which is installed on your phone. For the sd-ext 1G is recommended but can be more. Also he recommends not using CWR 4.0.0.0 but an earlier version like 3.2.0.0.

I've been installing various nightlies for the last month or two...currently up to 136. I've cleared davlik, cache, did the factory restore, etc through latest clockwork (3.2.0.1 maybe) on emmc........either get boot loop or it starts up and then freezes.
I even installed cm7 sd version (nightly 124 or thereabouts) and get the same thing (boot loop or it loads and then freezes)
I've managed to get it working a few times by turning off wi-fi, or clearing davlik, or after a nandroid backup, or changing the sd card, or updating the rom, BUT never a repeatable fix, seemingly just random success.
I've been hoping for a magical fix in a new nightly but the problem is much worse now (10 or 15 re-boots before it works, up from 1 or 2)
it's a nov 2010 nook color, no blue dot. When it works it's fabulous, but now i can't use it all.
any help is much appreciated!
bump for the morning crowd
The latest CWM is able to accomodate both partition schemes (blue dot and otherwise). I am wondering if you need to recreate/restore your partitions?
Here is a post that discusses choosing/setting up your partition scheme.
FWIW, Here is a post where I outline my experience with CM7 on my NC and going back to stock and running CM7 from the uSD if it may be of any help...
didn't work....back to boot looping
thx

So you tried resetting the partitions then? I would go back to stock and start over. I think that the key is that you need to re-image the old partition scheme and then reformat those partitions, make sure they're clean....
Another though I had is after you've flashed the files, in the clockworkmod main menu, do you then select "wipe data/factory reset" before booting back into your ROM (stock, CM7, or otherwise)?
It seemed that you weren't sure which version of ClockWorkMod you were using. I would use eyeballer's version:
1gb CWM 3.2.0.1 sdcard image (MD5: 1319739d33642ed860e8044c3d55aa56)
Re-posting Dean Gibson's info here on the repartition stuff (I would use 1a, but it really shouldn't matter):
Caveats:
You must have ClockworkRecovery installed on the Nook Color, or on a bootable SD card which accesses the Nook.
You must backup everything you wish to save, or archive it on the B&N site, because this will clear all your data on the device: /data (0p6), /cache (0p7), and /media (0p8). The Operating System (whichever one you have) on 0p5 will not be touched.
If you have added additional partitions (eg, via "internal dual boot": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959461 -- unlikely, given an existing 5GB/data partition), you must uninstall/remove them first.
The usual non-warranties apply.
The following are installed in the usual manner using ClockworkRecovery installs.
Download and copy to an SDcard, ONE of the following repartitioning install packages:
To use B&N v1.1 "old" 1GB "/data", 5+GB "/media" partitioning: http://www.mailpen.com/download/repa...1GBdata-v1.zip
To use custom 1.96GB "/data", 4+GB "/media" partitioning: http://www.mailpen.com/download/repa...2GBdata-v1.zip
To use B&N v1.2 "new" 5+GB "/data", 1GB "/media" partitioning: http://www.mailpen.com/download/repa...5GBdata-v1.zip
Also download and copy to an SDcard, the following install package: http://www.mailpen.com/download/reformatData-v1.zip
Boot into ClockworkRecovery with the above SDcard inserted in the Nook Color.
Install the repartition package from the SDcard, to repartition /data (0p6), /cache (0p7), and /media (0p8).
Mandatory REBOOT into ClockworkRecovery.
Install the reformat package from the SDcard, to reformat (and clear) /data (0p6), /cache (0p7), and /media (0p8).
If you backed up the B&N "/data" partition and you selected a repartitioning above that created a "/data" partition less than 2GB in size (the largest that CWR will restore), then you should be able to restore and continue without reregistering, but don't count on it (you may have to reregister).

yes, it's 3.2.0.1 and i've done the wipe data/factory reset though maybe not correctly. I did the wipe data but factory reset never showed up as a sub-menu item (click on wipe data/factory reset and the next screen says yes, wipe data; no further mention of factory reset)
yes, earlier today i flashed the re-partition zip/rebooted/flashed the re-format zip
thx again
I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. Followed these instructions to the letter, at least 6 times now.
The process I've followed:
1. Task29 to wipe phone
2. Installed cLK 1.5.11 with CWM 8
3. Partitioned the SD card (16GB Adata Class 10) using MiniTool in Windows
- 8GB FAT32 primary
- 8GB EXT4 primary
4. Copied ROM zip to SD card (eg. CMTight_leo_beta_v1.0_div3.zip)
5. Copied "flash_sboot_v2.zip" to SD card
6. Rebooted phone, added sboot partition in cLK
7. Booted recovery, and installed ROM
- SD-EXT
- no RMNET
8. Installed "flash_sboot_v2.zip"
9. Rebooted, selected "KERNEL @ sboot [UNDEFINED]"
... and I land up back in recovery, exactly where the installation process left off (step 8).
I have tried various ROM's, all the same result.
"Show Log" from CWM curiously shows:
mtd: erase failure at 0x0002000 (I/O Error)
mtd: erase failure at 0x0002000 (I/O Error)
mtd: skipping write block at 0x00020000
Done!script result was [Done!]

I've tried searching for the "UNDEFINED" sboot error, but found a vague reference to startup.txt, but no descriptive fix.
Any help? Please!!

In clk recovery, there is
an Option to Partition your sd card. Use this After patition with Mini Partition Tool. Only with Mini Partition Tool it does Not work. Try it and give Feedback.
Fixed!

Thanks, Fixed.
I had tried partitioning in cLK, but the same problem persisted.
So, I downloaded and installed cLK without recovery, and installed 4EXT recovery.
Used 4EXT to partition the SD card, 4GB EXT4 and rest FAT32.
Now all works.

Thats not correct, I formated my sdcard this weekend, repartition it using Minitoool and I have everything working.
The steps followed are the correct, so I don't see a reason to it doesnt work.
The problem might be the recovery, try one of these and then try to install rom again:
http://www.goo.im/devs/Xylograph/Various/Recoveries/NAND
Those recoverys can be flashed using your recovery, no need to use fastboot commands.
Notice that the 4Ext recovery needs 7mb recovery size in cLK.
Personaly I use TWRP (5mb) and have no problems.
EDIT: GiZZoR You're faster than me! :good:
Just for completeness, my device is partitioned as:
recovery 10mb
system 150mb
cache 10mb
sboot 5mb
Using:
kokotas' LK version 1.5.1.1 (black_lk_20120920-No_Rec.7z)
Xlyograph's 4EXT NAND Recovery
OK for the C.L.K Q&A thread it should be there and also should be a sticky.
And also i have a weird problem with my HD2
SO I just installed C.L.k 1.5.2.1 From the Sdcard in Hardspl Screen red/white/blue thingy And
then installed T.W.R.P 2.6.0.0 from fastboot from my Ubuntu PC not a problem and finished that then
i booted T.W.R.P it was not able to mount sdcard or the sd-ext partition at all So i thought it wont read beacuse from
MAgldr to Clk related stuff so i reformatted my sd-card which is a Samsung 8gb class 6 to fat32 and ext4 partitions in gparted
copied my roms to that and installed through TWRP then had another problem as that the ext4 partition wont mount in bootup
or with TWRP so redid every thing so the questions is why does the ext4 partiton not mount never had any problems with that on magldar
AND is it best to use ext3 or ext4 for android So Devs and experts whats ur thought on this ?????
Before all of the that i had made a 500 MB System partition as i had 23 bad blocks in my nand so :crying: yeah had a hell lot of reboots
force closes in a 440 MB in maglder that's the max for it don't know why i don't use the onboard data partition as i use { DATAONEXT }
Specifics :: Tmous ; CLK1.5.2.1 ; T.W.R.P 2.6.0.0 ; Slim Rom 7.2 ; Thanks for reading all my blaabering TEEHEE
I won't answer EVERYTHING, but try this:
Backup SD card, and use the formatter in TWRP>advanced to format the sdcard and let it choose which "ext" partition to create, you just choose the size, with 0 swap of course. Report back.
