5GIG Free online storage - for Rom/Kernels/Themes etc - Galaxy S II General

Hi Guys,
I have been looking for some permanent space to upload ROM / Kernels / Zip files / Themes etc
After a long look for free space, i finally found a place which has an Android APP and web access to upload and share files, and it is actually FREE not a trial or anything.
For those who are interested, here is a link:
http://www.idrive.com/?uid=L8J9K6I6M1
The Android application is quite good:
IDrive Lite
IDrive Lite is an application that lets you backup all contacts on your phone to an online account and retrieve the same at the click of a button; so you always have your contacts backed up online. Use the Locate feature, to view the location of your contacts and have other contacts view your current location.
&
IDrive (Online Backup)
IDrive (Online Backup) app lets you access your IDrive account on your Android Phone.
Log in with your existing IDrive credentials to:
- View data backed up to your IDrive account
- Share files/folders with your friends and contacts
- Search for files/folders
- View backed up files such as images, documents etc on your Android Phone
I am not affiliated with this app or company in anyway. I just thought i would share it for those who are looking for some FREE internet storage space, so that the flow of apps/roms/kernels/zips/themes etc etc can flow freely and space is accessible by more people.
Cheers and Enjoy !!!

How to retrieve data from my broken device ?

Hi all,
I've just broke the screen of my spv c500 (orange) and I can't see anything.
How can I retrieve data from it ? most important is the address book.
I pluged it via usb and I could retrieve the photos and some messaging data here:
\Windows\Messaging (files are in *.mpb format and I cannot view them, but whatever, this is not so important..)
but where is the ADDRESS BOOK on this device ?
I just need a path or a method to read it ...
Note: I never used Active Sync
Thanks a lot for your help,
Cheers,
pj
If you've got access to Visual Studio/EVC, you can use Remote Zoomin to view the screen over activesync. Then, you can install a remote control app and control your device like that temporarily.
Your best bet is to download a trial of a backup app like Sprite, do a full system backup, and work from there.
It would be wise for you to use ActiveSync ASAP, it'll backup automatically.
Address book will be saved in a database file, hopefully cemail.vol and pim.vol etc in your root.

Contacts Storage

Hi,
Does anyone know where the contacts are stored on the XDA Exec? I would like to store over 12,000 contacts but I find it fills my memory up and the XDA runs extremely slow. I have had to delete them all.
Just so you know, I don't have 12,000 friends, I work for a large company and it would be nice to sync my Works contacts on to my PDA.
If only I can get Contacts to store them on my Storage Card and run from there.
Cheers

Contacts & Calendar Items are stored in the PIM.vol
Don't you read man?
cant find pim.vol
I tried lookin for pim.vol in windows folder on my exec but couldnt find. I selected the option of show all files still I cant see. Please help... I need to give my phone for repair before which i want to backup my contacts...
thnx a lot
I would use a synchronization woth outlook (you can then keep your datathere when your machine is in repair). Alternatively, use a back-up program like sprite or SPB backup.
PIM.vol is in root on your phone, not in \windows.
But do a backup before sending the phone anywhere, activesync, and do use Sprite or SPB Backup.

Go for Sprite so you can restore even after a ROM upgrade Best to do a full backup and restore to avoid any issues
AKU3.2 allows you to be able to leave all your 12,000 contacts lying on your company's server, after which you can remotely access your contact list from within the contact application
This is extremely fast and works close enough as searching for the contacts within your own phone's database.
The only requirement is Exchange Server 2003 Service pack2 from your company's end.

Here's an idea for your large contact database- why not export to an excel spreadsheet and this way you have the info for reference and you can save the spreadsheet on your memory card.

Backing up contacts and facebook links?

Well first off im new to the HTC Leo forum so... hi!
Ok I just got a HTC HD2 and I was wondering, how do you back up the contacts and their facebook links? Only I'm installing a new rom each day trying to find the best one for me which means wiping the phone and its getting a little annoying that I have to keep re-linking the facebook links.
i use microsoft office outlook through active sync to back up my contacts, it also saves there facebook links so when you log in through data services in setting their details and facebook profile pic are assigned to your contacts.

ah ok, and if you don't have office?

Microsoft MyPhone (available through Windows Marketplace) also stores Facebook link information when using it to back up.
This service however is an online service and would require use of your phones data connection to upload the information to Microsoft on a regular basis or WiFi/hooked up to PC to do a manual update of the data.
not to worry. Microsoft my phone does the trick just fine
EDIT: lol Elcs you must have posted at the same time as I did. Thanks anyway
Hi everybody.
I'm searching exactly the same thing. How can we backup the links between the facebook contacts and the HTC contacts.
I'm not only speaking about the pic, but the real link to the facebook account.
Microsoft My Phone is certainly doing that, but I would like to have an offline solution.
I'm using PIM backup which is able to save WinMo contacts, but it didn't include the facebook account links.
I have tried to save the folder MyDevice/Windows/FBContacts but apparently it's storing only the pics and not the links to the account.
It means that when I restoring this folder, the FB account links are not restored.
Anyone has an idea?
Thanks in advance
I believe iMobileTools Contacts backup saves the links for facebook & HTC contacts that HTC add to contact via tagged code in contact notes.
Try it: http://www.imobiletool.com/download/imobiletool-contacts-backup.zip
Only contct backup progam I found that backs up contact photos & ringtones & restores them correctly plus supports unicode correctly.
You may also find SPB backup handy for saving & restoring contacts, mail accounts ect.

[Q] Saving Contact and Appointment Data

Hallo *, saving/synchnizing data doesn't seams to be easy with android.
I find many hints for google and HTC sync and much more hints to many apps. Signal for me, that there is something missing. I missed it too.
My problem:
a) I like to save data in typical file Format (cvs..., flat file)
b) I like to save them private and secure.
HTC sync. use Adobe and that tool needs my 'ok' sharing my network, sending Spam... no way for me.
Experiences using google temporary sending data and exporting from that tool doesn't work. I create all the Data (contact and appointments - aContacts and Jorte) in the telefon not using google account - there are no function to export telefon data, in my opinion.
Onybody here with knowledges or same problems? Thanks for any hint.
help
i am not sure but try:
http://www.androidpit.de/de/android/market/apps/app/androidapp.expcontacts/ExportContacts its free
but maybe exports just google contacts - iam not sure -
That tool supports only basic fields for Address Data and maybee only Google Data.
I'm searching for something storing all data - contacts and also appointments.
Any experiences with MyBackup? Is it possible to save non Google Data?
info
It is definitiv a good tool - but it works only 30 days - then you have to purchuase it.
I used it in the past an it works well.
But i dont now to backup contacts whitch are not google contacts.
