You're in the wrong forum. Unfortunate that XDA STILL hasn't given the Ray it's own form yet.. It deserves one.
Here's where the ray development stuff are (Except CM7):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1242
Rooting 2.3.3

nice share
thanks wwwong...but the thread which u are referring requires UNLOCK BOOTLOADER!!
I dont want to unlock the bootloader...
sent via awesome aRc (rooted 2.3.4)
Then it's not possible...

That is more tricky and actually requires a but of extra skill you'll have to peel back stuff to get at the testpoint at the back of the phone etc etc... I personally didn't do it because I already had mine unlocked. You are welcome to try it.
Thread:

Let me know how you get on with it
PS: For those of us that have already unlocked our bootloaders, there's no point in performing this
wooohhhh, its again so complicated...will wait for some other quick method. Like we have something for our Xperia Arc

Do it and don't look back! I was never going to then did so just before 283 was released because I didn't want to go through the rigmarole of having to downgrade to upgrade just to root, and so glad I did because I might have ended up with the 0% battery issue, PLUS it makes things like rooting so much simpler, even simpler than an app imo.
What put me off was something screwing up with the boot loader, it's a natural fear, but with Alejandrissimo and Jinx13 on call (more or less A+J? ), a fix is only an internet (and required software) connection away.
Ray can't be gingerbreaked, as there is no 2.3.2 available for it.nso there shouldn't be security issues that can be used for rooting a s-on device.
Just go ahead and unlock it.
As stated above you won't look back.

Guys,
I want to ask same question again.............
Any way to ROOT Xperia RAY with locked bootloader
What about the ZergRush exploit? Doesn't that work for the ray?
The Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit works and the Ray is in the compability list.
like what harfot said I'm pretty sure the zergrush method works for the whole 2011 xperia phones its easy to use aswell
Well today i was trying to install a custom rom to my friend's phone, i rooted the phone, installed CWM, and i tried to install CM7, but it gave me error, so i rebooted the phone, and it turned on normally, so i researched a little more and i saw that i had to unlock bootloader and update other things, i didnt know this because i have a galaxy 5 and you just have to root, install CWM and you are ready, so i tried to unlock boorloader to the x8, i executed msm7227 and there were some errors but at the end it said that everything was done, so i pressed a button from the phone, but nothing happened, so i tried to turn it on, but nothing happened, i pull off the battery and pull it on again but nothing, i tried everything so i realized it was hardbricked, now my friend is going to claim his warranty.
I told him that i never was going to touch his phone again xd, but maybe someday he will want me to install a custom rom on his phone, so my question is if there is someway to unlock bootloader, to a new phone, he may recieve a new one, so obviously is going to have a newer date, is there someway?
you have to install roms for STOCK kernel, no need to unlock bootloader, but i think its too late now lol.

Simple.
Flashtool = Safe but inflexible (in the name of safety they prevent you from unlocking BL with certain settings that sometimes really don't matter)
MSM7227_tool.exe is much more flexible, no restrictions, and IS AS SAFE as flashtool provided you read the guides properly and executed their instructions properly.
I might want to point out that Flashtool's BL unlock came directly from the MSM7227 BL unlock tools.

Er... I recommend you don't unlock BL, but if you must, Flashtool is less complicated to understand how to use, MSM tool is more flexible (doesn't force you to stock 2.1 before it unlocks BL ).
Both are basically one-click anyway.

Yeah, MSM will allow you to unlock regardless of os version, but Flashtool has some restrictions for safety's sake (though most are not needed).

Hello friends,
Are you one of those guys who are pissed of that they can't unlock their bootloader because of the stupid manufacturing date?
Well be pissed of no more because that is solved!
I was scrolling around the internet and I came across this guy!
http://unlock-bootloader.com/
Alejandrissimo is what he would like be addressed as.
Basically this guy unlocks your bootloader for only 24 usd assured 100%. He has over countless pages of testimonials (there was even one person that unlocked 11w40) and i am a 12w user and I just unlocked mine and I am happy as hell!
Basically this guy expects you to download his files which is on the website and have a paper clip just incase.
There is NO EFFORT to it WHAT SO EVER even my grandma could do it and she doesn't even speak english!
What you will have to do is just be connecting your phone back and forth to the usb and having to click back button multiple times but in the end it all pays of =D
You will also need to revert back to stock firmware 2.1 and you basically I was on GDX 2.3.7 and I lost EVERYTHING but i'm actually happy cause I backed up my aps and I get to do this anew with no more mistakes
So? What are you waiting for? Those kernels aren't gonna install themselves =P
If you need any questions I'll answer them i've personally went through this so have fun!
I came across that guy aswell.. even contacted him once and he actually replied. But I bricked my phone few days before that one so he couldnt help me. The problem is the money :SS.. dont you think thats a little bit too much just to unlock the bootloader?

You think wrong. Flashtool just automates the process and simplifies it, it still uses the original msm7227 files provided by the_laser. Both are as safe, but Flashtool is more noob-friendly and reduces the chance of human error.
Also, hard brick on 11W29+ devices is caused by revamped chipset that fixes the security hole that the original BL unlock uses. This means, the phone will effectively have no bootloader after BL unlock on fixed chipset devices and thus the phone is now a hard brick.

Lol don't blame the tool if human error led to you having sim card issues, sounds like you used the wrong file to me . As I said, flashtool reduces the occurrence of human error as it automates everything, but it is a little strict IMO.

Actually, setool can unlock bootloader with any manufacturing date...be it 11w40 or 12w**...
So why do you have to pay for a guy when there is a tool to do it?
It has the same point, you pay for the guy or you buy setool credits..and setool is more reliable coz its created by the same person who made it possible to unlock our bootloader for 11w26 downwards..

Listen,
You guys can do whatever you want with your phone fine by me but I was assured NOT to unlock my bootloader if it was manufactured after the dates of 11w30+ so I wouldn't really risk trying out ANYTHING except for this guy.
He has numerous testominals and in my opinion if you want to keep going with your phone for people who can't unlock their bootloader this is what you need =D
So it's all up to you in the end. This guy is guaranteed 100% he just lacks to reply sometimes for queries but when you say your going to co operate with him he will reply to any query whilst doing it. So in my honest opinion the 24 bucks was worth it.
Have fun guys

Hello everybody,
As i don't have enough messages to answer on the development thread, i post a few information here.
On my Z bought on a xperia store (lock bootloader but unlockable, french version (I think it is a worldwide one...) ) i runned the exploit, and it do work!
But as some comment said, the NFC stopped to work (only bug so far...).
The error is simple: you can't 'check' the box in configuration.
The logcat is simple and say only a few information:
I/NfcService( 1102): Enabling NFC
E/NFCJNI ( 1102): phLibNfc_Mgt_ConfigureDriver() returned 0x0106[NFCSTATUS_INVALID_DEVICE]
W/NfcService( 1102): Error enabling NFC
I don't know if i can help. But here are the few informations i have =)

No, wont help. An unlock blocked bootloader is locked for good. No way around it and I judge from your post, you dont read other threads so you have no idea whats going on: Sony - as other manufacturers did and do - didnt compromise Qcoms security installments in place by poorly engineering the phone. Bootloader security barrier most likely wont ever be broken through.
How exactly do you remove a directory like that?
Use root explorer.. Worked like a charm
I didn't remove it I just renamed it to usf1 it worked! But there are a lot of files in that folder. Is it not important?

I'm new at this root things so I would like to make a couple of questions if you don't mind...
I have a SIM Free UK Xperia Z, so I think my bootloader is unlockable. The thing is I don't want to do it (at least for now) because I will loose DRM keys, BE2, and my warranty...
1- Can I root using this method without unlocking the booloader?
2- If I root my phone with this method I mantain my DRM keys, BE2 and can restore it like when it came from factory?
Thanks in advance

I covered this in my initial post: recognized elite Android god Entropy512 himself, stated repeadetly, that bootloader security on Qualcomm devices is very strong. If it gets broken (this is what you ask/hope for) then it's usually because the manufacturer ****ed up Qcomms security. Sony, so it seems, does not have done that so an "unofficial" unlock or "bootloader crack" is very unlikely on the current devices, such as the Xperia T and Xperia Z.

Make sure your file explorer is configured to access system directories (such as /data) in root mode. You may need to change a setting to enable root access.
/data is definitely not empty, it's filled with plenty of other stuff.
Here is a video guide on how to get full root on bootloader locked Android 4.4.2 Sony Xperia Z1.
This will now work on model versions C6902/C6903/C6906/C6943

At the moment, I think that the only solution would be to backup apps and games is using an app called Helium. As far as I know that is the only working solution available on the market. Users have reported that the free version does not always work properly and that the safest would be to use the 5$ premium version of the app and to backup to a cloud storage, so I would recommend buying the premium app. Here is a link to the app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup.license&hl=en
You can backup your photos by either choosing cloud synching in Google+, Dropbox or any alternative storage or by transferring them over to your computer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dropbox.android&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.plus&hl=en
Don't forget to backup your text messages as well. The following app works well:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&hl=en
And also any saved wifi networks using the following app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryanamaral.wifi.passwords&hl=en

Yes you can unlock your BL and keep your camera with this rooted fw. But you can do that even on a non rooted .290.
