I put the game Air Penguin and another game Sky Warrior on my phone last night and 1 of them has put a load of other crap on there as well...
I've now removed both as i'm not sure which one was the issue but most of the day today i've had notifications that i might have won an Iphone 4 and other spam like that, it hasn't happened since i've removed the 2 games.
but since installing these 2 games i've also got another app that displays as "search" in a blue square and when you select takes you to a website www.livemobilesearch.com
Any ideas how i can remove this might have missed it but i can't find it with manage applications...
Dam annoying when this spam gets attached to other things you download...
Wish i could help, but where did u get the apps from, if u don't mind me askin.

I'm almost certain the search icon on your homescreen is just a bookmark and not an app. Just delete it.
As far as figuring out which app sent spam to your notification bar is easy. Reading the reviews for both in the market will give you a hint. Or when you get the spam icon in your notification bar just select it. For a brief second or 2 you will see the name of the app at the top of the screen.
There are a number of free apps in the market taking on this spam format. Hope google puts a stop to it. Always read the reviews before you install.
Yeah it was a bookmark just made to look like the Google search

I have Air Penguin and I don't have the ads or bookmark so it has to be the other app.
Install an app called "airpush detector" (free on the android market). It identifies the app that has airpush adware in it so you can uninstall it. And don't forget to 1 star the offending app with a comment in the market. When it happened to me it wasn't the app I thought that was actually the problem.

Yup, exactly what I did with the app MySettings - Airpush is totally annoying.

Ok so for example, when I entered twitter, it didn't find the twitter app. Only till I entered "tweet". And it almost always shows the app Lookout security & Antivirus, as like the 5th search result. And some other apps, like Nimbuzz, Quickoffice Pro will almost always show up. This happened since I flashed my phone back to the T-Mobile (I had debranded) firmware and then upgraded to 2.3.5.
Maybe covered in here too:

Not sure if this is the same issue and apologies if I've missed another thread on this. I lost both books and movies from market a few days ago. Also searches only show a very small selection of apps but says there's thousands available. Wonder if anyone else has noticed this?

I think you guys accidentally set the app filtering to high. Remove the filter. Happened to me before.
Just uncheck all then apply and recheck all and apply.

Depends on the CSC code.
Everybody got the same following bug?
If some app page in market loads through 3G and you switching to WiFi while loading - it won't load until force restart market app.
I have got the same thing.. I cannot find anything properly. Its like the search engine is fubar.
When I search "stargate ", it says there are 107 results, yet only about 10 are in the list. I'm finding this problem with every search I do, yet my filter is set to show all apps. Maybe if someone who has cm7/miui could see it it happens to them, we could then deduce whether it is Samsung firmware to blame, or just an android market issue.
There is also another issue where in sometimes when u search an app with full name the market will keep on loading with the grey screen and does not go past it. However if part of the name is searched the results come instantly.

We can rule this out if no one is having as now I feel its because of network issue from my end.
Latest market update seems to have fixed most of the issues I posted earlier. Hopefully this version will be more stable.

I've been running CM7 since the last "Alpha" release and have it updated with the Oct 22 update. I don't recall exactly when, but I started recieving these "optout" notifications. I don't know if it's related to CM7 or something else, but they're not cool at all . Does anyone know where they're coming from or how to stop them?

The only app I have installed now that was not before I switched to CM7 is Go SMS Pro. Has anyone had any experience with it?
Go sms pro doesn't do that, but i don't use go fb chat. What opens when you click it?
Edit :

Found this after a bit of research. Looks like an adbased app on your phone is using their apk. Seems they do support opt out, but aren't doing a good job a securing your identity period.

I'm not going to click those %^#$%#$%#$ Spam messages... I clear all the notifications. The only features of Go SMS Pro I use are SMS & MMS. I don't have Facebook, Myspace, Google+ or any other "Social networking" (Read: Stalking) crap. Want nothing to do with any of them. Any ideas how I can track down where it came from? I've looked at the installed apps and services with Titanium Backup and nothing stands out. Unless One of the other apps got 'updated' to include this new 'feature', Go SMS seems the most likely suspect at the moment.

wats a myspace?
Although I usually have 150-200+ apps installed at any one time, I started getting those annoying little "notifications" almost as soon as I installed the free version of the IPhone keyboard. Not cool at all...
How often do they come up? Is it at a predetermined time or is it random? A relatively easy way to narrow it down may be to look at market reviews of suspected apps.

We can finally remove apps from the "All Apps" list on Google Play.. it also translates to the web portal!
Three years of junk cleared in 15 minutes! :good:

Was stilling annoying. I spent 20 minutes tapping away removing over 2 years of crap.. Was like a walk down memory lane. I felt old when I reached Open Home..
Guess it's too late to tell you that you can select multiple entries and delete them all at once, hm? ^^
Still didn't manage to reinstate a dedicated list for only apps you purchased, though I know Google has no intend of doing it.

Yeah I had to do the same thing. It was rather annoying. I am sure they will release another correcting that now that we all lost several minutes of our lives clearing them out.
All that tapping made me felt a bit like an mmorpg player. Nice to see my first downloaded app was SuperSU.
I really like that we can remote apps from all apps.

Yeah, too bad you can't do the same operation on the Play Store website and it would sync back to the app. Also ridiculous that they made the list position to stick, when you're searching for apps, but not in the Installed apps section. When you list down and delete some apps, you get back to the top again lol. But it's a start.

HIT THANKS PLEASE
I am so glad they added a way to remove apps. Like others, I have had multiple phones and had a bunch of old apps I dont use anymore. While first discovering the new option, I had learned that you could multi select and remove, so it didnt take too long. One more thing that would be great to add would be the ability to select multiple apps to install.
I have gotten ads in my notification tonight "download this blah blah" etc.
they're annoying. how do i check which app it's coming from?
download airpush detector
Go to the running apps tab in settings and see which app there is running when it should not be (ie. a game or app that you closed and is not actively running but a process still is)
Long press on the notification -> App Info
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Also, if you look at your notifications (the star is usually the push), beneath the annoying ad there is a second line, and the first item listed on that line is generally the offending program.. uninstall said app, and the push goes away

AdFree.
If you're rooted, download the app AdFree. I have it on both my SIII & Nexus 7. I haven't seen an ad (notification or otherwise) since
thanks guy. I have adfree but it still popped up.
turns out to be a battery widget app, uninstalled right away.
airpush detector didn't find it. however i noticed the name of the app in the second line (at first i thought it was an ad)
next time if the app name is not there i'll try holding it down for app info.
great advice guys, thanks!
Sweet ! Also for you ladies and gents that don't know they brought it back But looks like it's only from within the device Play Store App, just touch the little circle with the line through it and its gone from your list of apps!
Removed 50 delinquent app's or so from mine!
Sorry if this is recent common knowledge I just was asking awhile ago and was told that this doesn't exist!

No! click that option and it never shows up in your Play Store history again, unless you install it again.
Each time you install an app or install a custom ROM with the ROM creators apps of choice it adds those apps to your play store list of app's! and they don't go away, and if you change ROMs and or try an app your list grows and grows whether you use the app or not it was always there in your list now you can clean those unused apps or unwanted apps out of your list so if you try a lot of ROMs you don't have to weed through all those app's!
I have 12 App's that I install and use, but 50 that I've tried and came on ROMs that I've tried now I have only 12 app's in my Play Store app history instead of 62 apps!
It is a list of apps that you have or had installed, so when you start from a new rom or a full wipe you can go to play store and look at the list to see which app you had installed earlier

I wasn't aware of this functionality until this thread, so thanks! Now I have removed all those 'old' and 'trial' installs cluttering up my installed list!
