What if someone runs Linux or some other operating system :O?

So he has a problem Maybe it works, but it will wipe everything on your phone, even sd card, so I won't try this.

It works!
Worked for me, and it didn't wipe the sd card.
Thanks boykioy!

Thanks a lot for the info!
I dont get step 6. How are we suppose to flash that using odin? In previous cm7 roms we didnt do that. We just flash efsbackup.zip, then flash initial kernel.tar, and last flash the initial zip. Also what if we went back to stock, how are we suppose to flash a 2.2 kernel?

This steps is for make a backup of your IMEI in order to apply the efsbackup.zip, this is in the case you are from stock, and don´t have any recovery installed, you can install only the kernel with CWM inside.

If you can flash efs-backup.zip, that means you have CWM recovery, so you can skip the step 6.
Also I heard the efsbackup.zip converts your filesystem to ext4. Is that true?
Problem with step 6
I have a problem with step 6.
This is the first time I'm doing this so I just Rooted my Vibrant and got Clockworkmod and made the backups.
I got the files and now I am in step 6:
These are the steps I took:
I downloaded the kernel for step 6 (cwk_5_color.zip) and copied it into the internal sdcard.
I rebooted to recovery mode and selected "install zip from sdcard"
I then go and select "choose zip file from sdcard"
I select the file cwk_5_color.zip
I confirm the install and as it seems to start the installation I get the error:
E:Can'tchown/mod /system/etc/init.d
(No such file or directory)
E: Failure at line 6:
set_perm_recursive 0 0 744 0744 SYSTEM:/etc/init.d
Installation aborted.
Any ideas why I get this error??
Should I just go on with step 7??
Any help is appreciated!!
Cheers
this sucks
where did all of the files get moved to?

Yes, Let me clarify should you need to:
Definitely root your xoom and upgrade to custom ROM of ICS from Nightlites EOS team. Rooting and upgrading to this custom ROM, umts-everest for your device MZ601 is pretty fast and easy. will help you if you need to.
Note: please read this procedure carefully more than once until you are fully aware of it. If you have any doubts or concerns, just ask to avoid confusion before you apply. This should be followed step by step.
• Your custom ROM will be: Eos-umts_everest-70.zip. This is the latest ROM released on May 11th, 2012. Very stable and everything works with it. No issues found. http://goo.im/devs/teameos/roms/nightlies/umts_everest/
• Your GOOGLE APPs (GAPPs) would be: gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip http://goo.im/gapps
Full thread in details can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459641
To summarize:
First, download the above ROM and GAPPs and put them onto your xoom internal and external SD card. Put them under /mnt/sdcard for internal sd, and under the root of your external sd card.
To download:
• Get the Motorola USB drivers to your laptop: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/
• Get the Android SDK to your laptop: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
• Recovery Image: http://goo.im/devs/teameos/recoveries/wingray/eos-recovery-r6.img
• GAPPS: http://goo.im/gapps, your GAPPs would be: gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
• ROM: Your custom ROM will be: Eos-umts_everest-70.zip. This is the latest ROM released on May 11th, 2012. http://goo.im/devs/teameos/roms/nightlies/umts_everest/
Steps:
1. Power off your XOOM device.
2. Press and hold the volume down button while pressing the power button at the same time. Note: Even if your xoom starts again, just keep the button pressed until you see "Starting fastboot protocol" on the screen.
3. Connect Xoom to your computer via USB.
4. Open a ‘Command Prompt’ or ‘Terminal’ window on your computer in your sdk/tools folder. This is the sdk you downloaded above.
5. unlock your xoom and flash the recovery image. The recovery image should be in your current working directory where you have command line navigated to:
Type:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery eos-recovery-r6.img
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery
Now, you have your device unlocked and recovery installed.
Reboot your xoom by selecting the option "reboot system now" from recovery. you can navigate up and down using the volume buttons. Once an option is highlighted, press the power button to select, you will still have your old ROM.
To flash the other ROM downloaded above,
1. Boot into recovery by:
i. As soon as you hit the reboot command above, you should see a Motorola logo appear. Wait 3 seconds and tap the Volume down button and the words Android Recovery should appear on the screen. When you see that, tap the Volume up button and you’ll boot into recovery.
2. From within Recovery, perform wipe data, wipe cache, and go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache and battery stats. Don't worry, if the ROM and GAPPs are deleted, which should not be the case, you will have them on your external sd card
Note: wipe data will delete your stuff on the xoom. It would be great if you backup your files that you need to your external sd card before you start any of this procedure.
3. In recovery, navigate to install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sd card and select the EOS ROM you copied to the root of the SD card. Once the files are flashed, DO NOT reboot afterwards. Hold on.
4. Again, from Recovery, choose install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sd card and select the GAPPs you copied to the root of the SD card.
Then hit reboot system now. It will take 2 - 3 minutes for the first reboot. Setup your google account. and you are good to go.
Later reboots will be much faster (around 40 - 50 seconds).
Advice: purchase Startup Manager from the market. Remove unwanted user programs from the startup. That will boost the boot time of your xoom. and don't remove superuser or superSU.
To have better battery life, from the market buy JuiceDefender ultimate. configure it as aggressive. don't worry, it is ok. This will give you around 2 hours of extra battery life than the promised 10 hours. Keep that in the startup.
You may need after that to install terminal emulator from the market if not already installed by the ROM to check if you have root permissions. Just type "su -" you will be prompted with superuser check. Click allow. and then type "id" You will see your id is root.
Should you require further details or assistance, please let me know. And enjoy the best rom customized ever for your device
Best Thanks to TEAM EOS for the great ROMs they provide.
After you are done with all that, let me know and will explain to you how to work with the pre-installed gooManager in the new ROM. It will make your life much easier to upgrade to future releases of your ROM.
NOTE: don't forget to hit the thanks button if you feel kind to

Almost the same as stock. But let me remind you with your ability to do this procedure. If you don't feel comfortable with tech and cmd, you may need to think again and read more the thread I included in my post. I just wanna make sure you do it right without issues and not to blame me with possible brick if it happens if you know what I mean

Of course you have to root it.
well, basically, in the procedure I sent you, you unlock your bootloader first, then flash a recovery.
Through recovery, you flash the ICS rom I mentioned, this ROM is already rooted. Saves you time

Bootloop into recovery
Hi guys
Strange, all worked 100%, recovery installed, rom and gapps installed.
When i reboot it, it boot back into recovery?
Edit, one thing i picked up, if i choose to install .zip from internal sdcard it says "no files found"
Please help guys?
So you installed rom? Did you put the files I told you about in external sd? If yes, choose install zip from external sd.
For rebooting, if it reboots to recovery, it means there is no rom installed. Try flashing the rom again.

Yes, exactly as you did?
The rom and gapps installed 100%? I retried, rewiped etc, nothing?
Hmm. Then you don't have recovery downloaded correctly. Checksum errors. Install another recovery image and redo the flashing.

[GUIDE][XT1225][5.0.2] Getting Xposed Up and Running

Hey guys!!!
So we got to taste Lollipop on the Moto Maxx with the SOAK test for Retail BR devices, and now that Xposed for lollipop is out we all want to test it, but due to its alpha stages its little confusing and difficult to Install and use properly! Follow these steps and you should be rocking Xposed on Lollipop!
Before starting.
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING! So that you can get back should anything go wrong!!! I have tested this method and its working for me, please don't blame me if anything goes wrong!
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, i will laugh at you.
*/
1) Go download the "XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha1.apk" & the "xposed-arm-20150213b.zip" from the Official Xposed Thread HERE. Put them into SD card.
2) Download the modified "boot.img" from here.
3)Reboot into fastboot and flash the boot.img
Code:
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
4) Now reboot into recovery and flash the "xposed-arm-20150213b.zip" and CLEAR the CACHE AND DALVIK CACHE if you don't perform this you will run into errors like running out of storage space and stuff!
5) Now reboot back to Android OS, it will take few minutes to Optimize all apps once again. wait patiently.
6) Install the "XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha1.apk" from SD card
7) THATS IT! you are ready to ROCK Xposed on Lollipop!! The Latest version of Gravity Box works too!
You can install any module that you want that is compatible with the latest Xposed and have fun! :victory:
Credit-

I've been using xposed since went out. I didnt need a modified boot file.
Edit. Just read again it is to make selinux permanent. Ill try it later.
Also now new Gravitybox runs ok but little slow.
Thank you! working great! Gravity Box is awesome
nice job.. works here!!
Do I need custom recovery installed for Xposed to actually work? Or I just need it for installing the zip?
I'm asking this because I was thinking about only booting TWRP, while keeping stock recovery.

U need it only to install Xposed!
Booted TWRP, installed the zip and when I tried to wipe cache/dalvik my screen went BLACK.
Probably because the TWRP is stored at /cache when I just boot the image (withou actually flashing it). LoL
I guess I'll have to flash twrp, otherwise I won't be able to wipe cache/dalvik.

No problem... I just had to force reboot. Then I flashed TWRP and wiped cache/dalvik just fine.
Now I only want to restore stock recovery, but I'm not sure if there is a stock recovery image out there... Maybe inside the lollipop OTA zip? Or should I just restore the recovery from the 4.4.4 stock rom?

Nope... i guess you should wait for the stock 5.0.2 FXZ or request someone with the stock recovery to pull it for you from their phones!

I've flashed the recovery from 4.4.4. Worked just fine.

It will work but in order to perform future updates you would need the 5.0.2 recovery!

Actually... there's no difference. The lollipop update doesn't make changes to the recovery, it keeps the one from kitkat.

I am new. My presentation.Doubt about changing the ROM without external SDcard

Hello guys!
I am Luis, from Spain (please, forgive my writen english) and I must say that I have used your help before, but never I have need to write my doubts until now.
I have the Moto X play without any SDcard, and I want to change the original ROM (I am already root with TWPR and SuperSU) and my doubt is when I will make the Data wipe and factory reset if all my backups and even the new ROM will be erased from the internal storage.
My last experience on installing ROMs was in 2010 on a HTC Desire, so you can imagine my ignorance with this issues.
Are the next steps correct for installing new ROM?
* 1. Copy the ROM to the phone.
* 2. Go to recovery TWPR and wipe data and do a factory reset. In this point I have the doubt of the erasing data.
* 3. On TWPR go to install, select the ROM and go on.
* 4. Reboot.
Many thanks for pay attention!
Kind regards,
Luis
if you haven't sd card following the next steps:
1 - enter the recovery and full wipe
3 - plug your device in your computer and copy the rom and the gaaps in your phone
4 - flash rom and gaaps and reboot

Thank you for your response, Diego. But I have the problem that within tWRP, the USB Mounting doesn't work, I can't see the Storage unit in my windows PC. Can I send the files via "adb push file /sdcard"? I think that other way is buying a SDcard.

Finally I've had success changin the ROM! You have reason, only data wipe and the factory reset keep the rom data in /sdcard folder.
Many thanks!!

Do you have an unlocked bootloader? And TWRP recovery? You need both of these. And next download ROM and Gapps. Get the ARM 64 for 9.0 and the Nano package for Gapps. You also need to be on Stock EMUI 8 and must NOT be ROOTED. You also need to flash this TWRP.
https://mega.nz/#!gzRHFaxL!cIuYgdGhSsMsTR318up2jDJOf8i5-yQFS-WpB2caGv4
First boot to TWRP and then:
Go-to Wipe -> Format Data -> YES & hit enter
Next press back Twice and then Advanced Wipe -> And mark the following.
* Dalvik/ART Cache
* Cache
* Data
* Internal
* System
Next Swipe to Wipe. Once done, go to install, and then flash AOSP Extended ZIP. Next Flash Gapps ZIP. Wipe Cache and Power off your phone. Reboot to bootloader by plugging in USB while holding Volume Down. Phone need to be off for this. Flash stock Recovery. Then boot to stock recovery and factory reset and wipe Cache. Reboot. Profit.
Is your device support project treble
