This is a development thread for Gingerbread 2.3.7 on Huawei Ideos X5 Pro (u8800pro).
Please do not post questions about u8800 (like "can you build it also for u8800?")
My purpose is to build a fully working AOSP rom without bugs, BTW i don't know if i will be able to make a good rom.
Current State: solving first issues in the building process
All people that want to help me building this AOSP rom are welcome!
just wondering
Welcome i was just wondering why would you like to build a rom from scratch instead of just improving on geno cm7 (lack of radio sound not so good etc)or even better try to port ICS.Not trying to be a smartass i am very happy we have another dev on.

I won't work on cm7 because i think that genokolar can solve bugs on his own.
And i won't work on ics because my pc does not have the minimum hw requirements to build it.
Actually i am looking for device u8800pro sources.

About ICS requirements. I have 2 cores, each 2.93 gHz, 4gb of RAM. It still builds just fine, it just takes longer time. The so called "requirements" are for building it in less than 30 mins. For me, the first build took ~2.5 hours.

Well in that case it will take about a year then.
genokolar has just uploaded his sources.
i am finishing to download fully clear gb 2.3.7 sources, i will begin to build tomorrow
actually i have this issue:

hi @all, i want to do something more for u8800pro community and i want to build an aosp ics rom.
i have seen the aurora ics for u8800, so ics on u8800pro is not impossible.
i have not enough skills to make immediatly a good rom, so i am searching for people who could help me.
I think that a good way to carry on this project is to build a team of developers....this is why i am searching for them.
to build the rom i can use my computer: phenom 2 x4 960t + 8gb ram dual channel 1600mhz should be enough
Hi,
my compliments for this great idea!
I am not a good developer but if you need a tester you can count on me.
I can test about 4 U8800 Pro!
Regards,
kalo86
This project needs also a new kernel for ics
Inviato dal mio U8800Pro usando Tapatalk
Uuuuh! I put all my hopes on this project(since all the others are stuck...)! Can't wait to see my u8800pro fully hardware accellerated, it would become a raging beast!
If you need testers i'm right here!
Awesome i cant wait to see my u8800 pro with Ics.I can be a tester with many others of course...

the fact that i have opened this project does not mean that we will have an ICS rom for our phone.
this mean that i will TRY to build ics...and i need also to compile a new kernel with new touchscreen driver.
i will try to do that....hoping to obtain a rom
ps: this also means that i stop my project on gb 2.3.7....now that i have a good computer i can build ics
Where are you going to search for new kernel sources?
If I am not wrong, ICS requires 3.0.X Kernels

i will use google's original sources....and i will ask for help to devs like franciscofranco or lupohirp.
You could ask genokolar for help too.
Since he already has his own ics port for the u8800pro, maybe he could come handy... maybe...

Sorry, i cant allow this thread to remain the the development section. Please refer to the read before posting sticky. As this thread contains no development, i really have no choice. Good luck with the project, i wish you all the best with it
Stop fragmenting people!
Damn... why on everyone that wants to help, the first thing that pops on their mind is to start something form scratch and then... what do we get with that?
A few very similar ROMs but none fully working.
dzo and Blefish are already working on ICS for U8800 and someone else already said that was working on building it for AOSP (with Blefish's help I guess).
Why not simply contributing to one of those developments, so that we can have less but robust ROMs?
just saying but... u8800 and u8800pro are different, if not i would already have ics on my phone.
Why don't you simply make an Aurora ICS port?
U8800 and U8800 PRO are pratically the same phone... I think it should be easier...
However i'm not an expert, mine is only a question...
I second this. I want some ICS love.

This is awesome. If only the wifi kai kernel drivers are changed between these 2 devices we must donate to dzo for a new u8800pro and he can try his best as he does for u8800.We need something new for u8800pro because all the devs go to u8800(oxygen,ics aurora, elite rom) and we have stay with a cm7 good rom.In chinese forum there are much more roms than here in xda. With someone that knows how to translate these roms we can have a lot more roms for both u8800 and u8800pro.
This might help.

EDIT:
The kernel of the aurora ROM is compatible!!
Replace the META-INF directory in the aurora ROM by the of Genokolar.
-The ROM worked.
-The camera works.
-Wifi does not work.
-For your first run, turn off the GPS and the phone works.
-Fails Wiper App

Not only camera, but HW acceleration as well!
I would say a few days for beta.
After official source release from Samsung for the stable releases.
And then --> JB porting since kernel will be now fully compatible

What's different between AOKP and cyanogen 9?
I want know because I've tried playing games on both roms and on miros cyanogen I can play allmost all games what is supported but on AOKP I can't play allmost nothing every games crash. Why?
On both roms I have 512mb swap and OC'd 480-744mhz svartassv2.
And on AOKP I have about 80-105mb free ram and on cyanogen 9 about 50-70mb. I'm really amazed .
Same question here too...

Aokp is different from Cyanogenmod ... a bit like between AOSP and Cyanogenmod, is a rom belonging! The Cyanogenmod I think he has a different kernel and greater compatibility created by the sacred monster Miroslav_mm, the AOSP is lighter and faster, but is not complete and also the kernel, as you stated, has a great compatibility with games, if you are a gaming enthusiast I recommend the Stroke Rom (of leoposas) or just the CyanogenMod: D

Glad you are here with us!!! :good:
You got official PA
FYI...
Serranolte and Serrano3g have been added to aospa-legacy, meaning you will be getting official builds from now on and can use the OTA app to update.
https://github.com/AOSPA-legacy/android_vendor_pa/commit/99120361c36189be4170e202b2adfe9657671158
Downloads will be available at this link when they are ready. Serranoltexx and Serrano3gxx folders would show up when the build is ready.
Hey dude. I'm not sure if you got my PM, UC Browser does funny stuff sometimes so I will post this here.
Just woke up a couple of hours ago. Testing AOKP now, everything seems to be working fine. At first it appeared that Bluetooth didn't work. After a reboot and installing gapps it seemed to be working. Not sure if that was due to gapps or just the reboot. Other then that everything seems to be fine.
P.S. I also tried Mahdi, excellent ROM, can confirm Bluetooth is not working there either, plus the gallery app crashed from the get go until a reboot
Pure AOSP gives issues sometimes. Will take a look when I update. Thanks for testing. I'll create a new thread when I get feedback for the LTE version.

ha ?! strange ...
Pure AOSP (like Nexus roms ) are généraly more stable than CM roms ..."in théory" .
And it will be perfect for users who want the simplicity on parameters, a pure google experience (like stock ) ...and a good "clean" base ( without "frills" ) for eventualy to personalize oneself for some people .
And for some people who like Touchwiz :add very goods Samsung Touchwiz theme + launcher will be great ! ==> it fully replace stock rom!
It's sure that when stock KK will be released for S4 mini by Samsung, with the code-source ( scheduled in May 2014...according to the "good" rumors enought reliable ) ==> a pure AOSP build will be the best choise for our phone ( lighten, performance and stability ) ....with a very good Customised Kernel for better phone ( a strong battery save ,without decreasing performance )
As far as i'm concerned ,i personaly wait this way for the future of my phone !
Otherwise ,there are stable CM11 ... but cyanogenmod have done many additional features on her rom .
Seing android n just got out, would be able to port it to our device? Using cm13, as base rom? And what about sailfish os?
It would be interesting, but I don't thing someone will do this, its a preview.

I think that the priority now should be get a stable cyanogenmod 13.

It would be better to port vanilla M and prepare an AOSP tree. From there collaborations can happen to speed it up and make our device even future proof and next can be enhanced to further builds of android. Having a bootable vanilla M will grant a working ramdisk and such instead of Frankenstein build which is hard to be a daily driver
