Thanks to $aur0n for Urukdroid OS - Gen8 General

Seeing as I can't post in the developers section I would like to thank $aur0n and the rest of the devs for the latest version of Urukdroid 1.6RC4 Started with UD1.5 last Thursday. Currently running on my A70-8 it appears to be running smoothly. I installed to internal memory with basic partition resize. I am sure it is not optimized for best performance but I consider myself lucky I didn't brick the device.
I found the simply dropping the update file into the data/backup folder (from my Ubuntu 11.04 laptop) did not work for some reason. So, from my Win7 computer at work I dropped the update file in a "download" folder so I could find it, then after dismounting I used File Expert with su permission to move the file to the data/backup folder. Lo and behold the update process started automatically.
I had an issue as I was muddling through from 1.5 to 1.6RC2 where something stopped the google services framework which resulted in a very long boot cycle and error messages. I finally found the entry in applications and I believe a clear data fixed the issue. During this incident I lost my tunein radio app and any attempt to reinstall results in some sort of out-of-memory error stating that the app can not be viewed. Other apps install just fine. I think there is an internal problem with the tunein app.
Anyway, I have been using the A70 a bit more and the battery seems to be lasting as well as it did back on 2.1.8.
Thanks again.

+1! Install was easy, tablet runs smoothly. Thank you to all involved!

[FIX] For Evo's having problems with latest Flash 10.2 update (10.2.157.51)

I was one of the many Evo users who's flash video was killed after the last Flash Player update. After much searching, couldn't find a single thing on why so many of us were having this problem so decided to do a little tinkering.
In my phone, I found a 2nd "libflashplayer.so" file under \system\lib\ which was also a different size from the one under \data\data\com.adobe.flashplayer\lib.
It also remained there after completely uninstalling the current version of Flash.
Installed the latest update and confirmed it as not working
Renamed the \system\lib\ file to "libflashplayer.bak" and flash instantly worked again! Putting the file back to normal instantly broke flash again too.
Also tried replacing it with the copy from \data\ (since it was the latest version) and flash still works just fine and didn't revert back to the older file after a reboot.
So - If any of you also have problems with the latest 10.2.157.51 version of Flash Player - check your \system\lib\ folder for this file and either rename or replace it and see if it solves this for you too
(Note - Always backup stuff first, and I am not liable if you fry your phone. ^_^)
It never ceases to amaze me up buggy and poorly controlled Flash is.
Thanks man.
Interesting i just updated flash NOW after trying twice before only to find video playback broken and it seems like they fixed it themselves now it is works, without doing anything on my end lol - Thank anyhow though!
Now you know why Steve Jobs doesn't want to see flash on Iphone or Ipad.
By the way - thx for the info.
To be fair, this is less adobe's fault, and more HTC's fault for putting the libraries in a read only filesystem. Even that would be alright if that path didn't superscede the ones in /data. I've been doing this on my own phone for a while now, and it does fix a lot of problems with flash. I wish more devs would take care not to put market apps that are subject to frequent updates in /system anyways. It doesn't really save any space in the long run.

How are you guys renaming this file? When I try it says "insufficient permission". Tried with Astro.

Found the answer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609866.
Download Etrong file explorer and give it root access.
Wouldn't upgrading to 10.3 fix the issue even easier?

10.3 wasn't working for me either (I'm on the SprintLover's ROM), but after doing this, it works!
Thanks, OP!
I used ROOT EXPLORER to do this... thats the only program I know that works. it allows you to make the folder R/W instead of R/O then you can rename..
Im glad I found this.. now I am updates to 10.3 .. is there any difference in anything in 10.3 ?
Thanks! This fixed it on my EVO (running Fresh's 3.5.1 Froyo ROM), I used EStrongs file manager to make the necessary changes (you have to enable root options and mount system under settings first). Spent like half an hour trying to find a solution, since the search terms for the problem can be so generic ("Flash", "broken", "black box", etc. just returns a million different results).
WHY do some sites still say you need adobe flash when I go to them?? they worked with the old version.. could it be I have my browser agent set for desktop and the flash installed on the evo is reporting android?
My flash was also broken after the 10.2 (and 10.3) update. I used the method from the OP and it worked. Has anyone noticed though that after doing this fix if you have your "enable plugins" setting on your browser set to "on demand" that all flash content will say: "you need to update flash player to watch this video"? When the "enable plugins" setting is set to "always on" everything works flawlessly. I guess I should be happy that i got flash back at all but it kind of sucks because I like having my browser set to on demand so flash doesn't slow down my browsing experience.
At any rate big thanks to the OP
THANK YOU!!
This finally solved my problem, but in addition to renaming the libflashplayer.so file, I had to also rename libflashsnddec.so. Until I renamed the second file, Flash v10.3 kept giving me that blue Lego block with the question mark.
Thanks again!
Edit: Whoa...don't rename or delete libflashsnddec.so! Doing so causes both DolphinHD and the stock Android browser to abend on some websites (even simple ones like Amazon, etc.). I tried various combinations, uinstalls, reinstalls, clearing cache, backing out to an older version of 10.2 that worked previously, etc., and all ended up pointing to renaming/deleting libflashsnddec.so.
One question though. Would changing the .so to .bak affect when trying to update from the market? It worked like a charm by the way. Thanks.
Sent from my EVO using XDA App
Using that fix causes the stock browser and Dolphin Browser HD to abruptly close without even a Force Close warning.
I replaced the lib in /system/lib with the one from the latest Flash Player update and also placed the lib in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib which was actually empty before I put the file there.
Edit: Nevermind. Got it. Removed the APK from /system/app and installed via Market. This placed the libs in the right folder and then I just copied them to /system/lib.
Edit 2: Alright, I'm trying to get this fix to work for my ROM so people don't have to do this manually.
So, I put the files in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib so they get copied over when the ROM is flashed by the updater-script. However if I do this while the install_flash_player APK is present in /system/app, it seems to erase the contents of that folder causing Flash Player to not work again. I need to find a way to make it so the libs stay in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib.
Any suggestions?
does your "new" flash lib file read
01 OCT 09 6.87 MB
I moved the file to the proper folder using r/o and root explorer, and rebooted
both files are in place, but I still get the blue ? mark on certain sites

[GUIDE] Genymotion | Installing ARM Translation and GApps[Updated Nov.16]

UPDATE May 28th, 2017: This guide is no longer supported and probably doesn't work. Please don't use it or ask for support anymore.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Genymotion is a Virtual Android Environment built on x86 and Virtualbox. It's not an ARM emulator so it's performance is way better than the Android SDK Emulator. However in their latest update they've removed both ARM Translation and Google Play Apps. (This is what causes the "INSTALL_FAILED_CPU_ABI_INCOMPATIBLE" errors) Many Devs and Users still find these features very useful for various reasons and their removal has forced people to look for alternatives to Genymotion.
This guide is for getting back both ARM Translation and Google Play apps in your Genymotion VM.
ATTENTION(April 11th): Sadly Dropbox has informed me I've surpassed reasonable Bandwidth Usage and has temporarily disabled my Public Links. I don't blame them considering I've reached a steady 1400+ downloads per day, which equals an impressive 12.5+GB of bandwidth per day. Part of this is probably because people started Hot Linking my file for their guides. So for the foreseeable future I can't provide direct downloads of the ARM Translation, but I'll have plenty of Mirrors. I'm sorry to the numerous people that created Guides in numerous languages, since I have to kill the link in your Guides. Please don't hesitate to use one of my new links.
PS: I'm sorry if I haven't been very talkative and helpful lately. Work has been piling up and sleep is decreasing. Plus my computer is being "difficult". Haven't had a chance to even update Genymotion to v2.2.0. I hope I'll be able to get back into the dirt soon.
Note(Feb 2nd): Contrary to previous reports, it's been discovered that Android 4.4 does in fact work with ARM Translation, although it is buggy. Follow the steps the same as before, just make sure you download the 4.4 GApps.
UPDATE-v1.1: I've gotten more up-to-date builds of libhoudini and have updated the ZIP. This fixes a lot of app crashes and hangs. Just flash the new one and it should work.
Download the following ZIPs:
ARM Translation Installer v1.1 Hosted by FILETRIP(Mirrors) - If you have issues flashing ARM Trnaslation, Try re-downloading from a mirror
Download the correct GApps for your Android version:
If you have issues flashing GApps, Try re-downloading from a mirror
Google Apps for Android 4.4(Mirror)(Download from CM11 Links)(4.4 GApps might be buggy)
Google Apps for Android 4.3(Mirrors)
Google Apps for Android 4.2
Google Apps for Android 4.1
Next Open your Genymotion VM and go to the Homescreen
Now Drag&Drop the Genymotion-ARM-Translation.zip onto the Genymotion VM window.
It should say "File transfer in progress", once it asks you to flash it click 'OK'
Now Reboot your VM using ADB or an app like ROM Toolbox. If nescessary you can simply close the VM window, but I don't recommend it.
Once you're on the Homescreen again Drag&Drop the gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip(or whatever version you got) onto your VM, and click 'OK' when asked
Once it finishes, again Reboot your VM and open the Google Play Store.
Sign in using your Google account
Once in the Store go to the 'My Apps' menu and let everything update(fixes a lot of issues), also try updating Google Play Services directly.
Now try searching for 'Netflix' and 'Google Drive'
If both apps show up in the results and you're able to Download/Install them, then congrats you now have ARM support and Google Play fully setup!
I've tested this on Genymotion v2.0.1 Using Android 4.3 images. Feel free to skip the GApps steps if you only want the ARM support. It'll work perfectly fine by itself.
If you have any problems please don't hesitate to ask for help below.
Thanks:

Old Zips:(DON'T DOWNLOAD! Kept for archival purposes, unlikely to solve any issues you might have.)
ARM Translation v1.0 - http://goo.gl/CL4os6 Hosted by FILETRIP(Mirrors)
So far, seems that it's working for people. I've gotten feedback on other sites and I've only had one user report trouble installing GApps. Remember, if you have any issues let me know. I'm currently looking into problems with some Apps and Games that hang when opened.
Thank you very much!
For windows, this procedure requires downloading android SDK then downloading platform tools and messing with your PATH and also installing Java (yikes).
I've searched around for the minimum adb requirements of Genymotion and I'm attaching them for anyone interested.
Just extract anywhere and tell Genymotion the folder you extracted these where it asks for the sdk path.
It includes the mini-sdk (windows-only) from androidforums.com and the aapt uploaded on xda somewhere I don't remember.
The files are in the sub-folders Genymotion expects them to be.
Hope that helps someone.
While dragging and dropping these zip files onto my VM windows, it started to show File transfer in progress but at the same moment throws an error, "An error occured while deploying a file. Process failed to start. The parameter is incorrect.
Any suggestions please?
Thanks.
Edit:
A reboot worked for me. Thanks for this.

Did you define Android-SDK location in the Genymotion settings?
Updated to v1.1
Thanks to the help of Michael, I was able to get more recent Libs that are much more stable. This should fix many of the hangs and crashes experienced in Games and some apps.

Glad it's working. You updated while I was replying so I didn't see it until after I post, and I couldn't delete the post.
I got to the step about drag&dropping Gapps but when I do it just says it was successfully copied to the download folder. That doesn't sound right and nothing else happens after I reboot.
I have ADB and set the correct path, How do I reboot using ADB?

Hmmm, I got similar errors, but updating all the apps through Google Play and rebooting cleared them up. Can you post a logcat? Also try making a second VM using a different Android image and try installing in that.
If you keep having issues you might have to uninstall Genymotion and make sure all it's registry entries are deleted, before reinstalling Genymotion. For some reason the Genymotion Uninstaller doesn't do a proper job of removing everything. But I had weird issues myself until I did a clean install.

I did do an update of all the apps that needed updating. Also I uninstalled Genymotion using Revo pro, that scanned and removed all the leftover registry and files, then rebooted then ran Wise Care 365 which is a general file and registry cleaner, Then rebooted again and installed Genymotion ( the one without Virtaulbox because I already have the latest version installed for other purposes).
Sorry, but I'll have to get back to it at a later date.
Thank for you help.
In addition to these errors, the Virtual machine crashes with a message that player has crashed or something with the network is bad, but the network settings are blank as they should be.
I will try the other suggestions now.
Is there another way to install gapps other than drag&dropping the zip, since that isn't working for me (it just copies the file to sdcard/downloads)?

Yeah I've been getting several reports of Genymotion doing that. The function is supposed to copy it to the Download folder and then flash it from there, but there must be a bug that's preventing it. To do it manually, just use Root Explorer to extract the ZIP and then copy the "system" folder you extracted on top of your "/system" folder(Root Explorer should automatically ask to remount the partition as Read-Write), and it should ask if you want to merge the two. Say yes, and then when it asks to overwrite a file just say yes. Reboot and you should have Google Apps installed.
NOTE: Just in case something goes wrong, you should backup the System partition by Opening Virtualbox, Right-Clicking your VM, Select 'Show In Explorer', and then copy the "android_system_disk.vmdk" to a safe location.
Thanks for the tips. I'll have to do some research on some of this since I'm not a developer, I just enjoyed having an android device on my computer.
Edit: Strange, I extracted it, then when I go to the extracted folder there's nothing in it. Oh, I just realized Windows won't open it either. Maybe the download was messed up.
Edit 2: Nope, downloaded again, this time the file size is 1kb bigger (8kb total) but the same things happens, empty extracted folder. This is from the gapps for 4.3 zip on page 1.
Edit 3: Problem solved. 8kb seemed awfully small so I went directly to goo.im and found the real file size is 87.5MB! A little different. This time everything works perfectly except that I have to manually open VirtualBox Manager first but that's no big deal.

Glad it worked out for you. 8kb is definitely too small for anything other than a text file these days.
I Can't drag and drop it just doesn't work on genymotion 2.0.1

[ROM] MIUI 2.3.30 (GB 2.3.7) English ROM + TWRP Recovery for Google Nexus One

Please Read Everything Carefully as some info is crucial to getting your old phone functioning well!
Update:::: August 16, 2015 ::::::::::
STAGEFRIGHT BUG:
This bug has been blown way out of proportion and it is not something anyone should be extremely worried about. There are no patches for gingerbread as of yet, and I cannot patch it since I do not have the CM source. However, you can copy from /system/build.prop and open the file in Notepad++ and then search for "stage" and change the "true" to "false" -without quotes. While this is not a fix, it will still offer some protection. Do not download apk files from places you do not trust and you should be ok. For now you can also do the following :
1) In MMS App, Turn off Auto-Retrieve. If your Carrier converts your voice mails to text, you will no longer be getting those. The app will then provide a download button for you to download the message instead. You can simply call your voice mail and listen to the message and download it if you think its important.
2) Remove the stock browser - do not use it to sign into anything.
3) Use Firefox as your default browser. It will be slower but safer. Type about:config > Search for Stagefright > Set stagefright.disabled to True
4) FIREWALL : Use AFWall+ to block Apps making unneeded connections to places you don't trust. It starts in Whitelist mode. Change it Blacklist mode. Be careful, and understand how to use this. LINK https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.ukanth.ufirewall&hl=en
6) In an effort to save RAM and unnecessary background Operation, I have included ForceStop Prevent Running. Do not update this past version 0.15. Updates after this do not work well on Gingerbread. Preventing Google Play Store is ok, Play Services is optional (You will lose all sync except Contacts and Calendar but no unnecessary background syncing.[/I]
7) GApps package now Included. It is Stock Gingerbread Gapps with Google Play Store updated to version 5.1.11. Please note that the latest Google Play Store works Fine but it is slower. If you want to block it from Updating, BEFORE connecting to Wifi, IF the APK is called com.android.vending.apk THEN create a new directory in /data/app called com.android.vending-1.apk, so it is always 1 number higher than what is installed. Also, if you do Update, MOVE the update to System parition or you will have 2 copies of it. Then delete its Dalvik cache and reboot
Update :::: June 18, 2015 ::::::::::::::New Goody : Added Modded K9-Email for Gingerbread to list of Software - It is open source, and a good way to check "Hotmail/Outlook" using Imap. Imap functions in Outlook are limited but the program works. I have removed the Ugly K9 dog Icon and replaced it with a real Email icon to make it look more appealing
Updated ::: June 12, 2015 ::::::::::::: New Goody : Attached Adaway for Gingerbread - Disclaimer: I support ads in some apps that do so reasonably, but some apps are out of control with Permissions and blowing up your screen with constant Ads, this behavior is unacceptable so I have included AdAway here. It is the user's Right and choice to do as they please on a carrier/contract free ROM, however it is not my responsibility what you may do with this ROM. This ROM still contains most of the original components of the Original ROM and I may remove outdated functions or add new functions in the future
This is MIUI 2.3.30 Gingerbread version 2.3.7 U.S. English Rom
I have now added various changes to this ROM. No more Security Certificate issues. No more Email / IMAP issues -K9 Mail, Exchange and Google accounts should sync without issues now
Xposed For Gingerbread + Prevent Running + Security Fixes are now attached below for convenience
Partitioning your SDCard is absolutely recommended or you will not have enough Internal Space to have Google Apps - Internal Space should only store Dalvik Cache - Please see details
1) 30 Step Headset Volume Configuration - works great with Volume Limiter
2) Security Certificates updated. Bad and Outdated ones Removed. see GuardianProject. This ROM is more secure. I also highly recommend using Firefox and OperaMini. I have also attached CACERTS.BKS - Remove the .TXT Extension - Already included in the ROM but can be used in other Gingerbread devices!
3) Nexus Pie boot animation
4) Misc changes - Gps locks fast when using GPS apps like Mapfactor Navigator, CPU Sleep works during trackball wake/notify feature, country codes in dialer corrected, Correct APN and Carrier name will show.
Recommended Software
I recommend you download this: Volume Limiter by Captain Neoguri - March 26, 2014
Caution: Nexus One hardware has a bug where upon using this app when adjusting volume outputs in max volume which can be dangerous for your ears, Please do not wear your headset when doing volume adjustments. I recommend a volume of upto 16 in this app for headset max volume.
Recommended : Xposed Framework for Gingerbread :::::: Download Below
Once you install it, Update it, and Install the Following :
1) Fake ID Fix
2) Master Key Multi Fix
3) MasterKeyFix GB
These are all Security Patches for Gingerbread. I have taken the Courtesy to attach them in this thread.
I recommend Google Play Store no later than 5.1.11 as the latest versions seem to have some kind of DPI related bug and will Force close constantly. Google Play Services can however be updated to 7.5.73-034 - I have tested it and it is working perfectly fine
Launcher : I am now recommending Holo Launcher from the Playstore. It saves RAM and it is much more Functional than the Stock launcher. When I have time, I will entirely remove the Stock Launcher and put Holo Launcher in the ROM or until I get permission from its author
Call Blocking Call blocking feature is built into the ROM, however it is like most call blockers which simply hide the blocked call but it still goes through. A solution to this is to use this app. Root Call Blocker : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta&hl=en
It will take about 5 minutes to set up and will allow you to kill a call after 1 ring and it will not go into your voice mail. So the Spam caller will have no idea whether its a dead number or to even bother calling back. Usually "Dead Rings" make the automated telemarketing calls stop because the computer dialer that is making the call keeps getting dead air and it keeps showing in their call logs. So it becomes their problem, you will simply never see the call coming until 1 day you decide to go in your blocker's call log. So if you have a pesky caller, use this app.
Radio / Baseband Software
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Passion_Info
If your 3G does not work, Please check your 3G Network's supported Frequency with your Nexus One 3G Supported Frequency. There were 2 models of this phone released in Canada. This is not due to MIUI and downloading any Radio software will NOT fix this because it is by design.
You need version 5.08.00.04 if you are not using a Korean Nexus One. Download it, then Extract the Radio.img file from the zip.
1) You need to have ADB Fastboot and ADB Enabled on your phone. You can download a small ADB Version here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
There are also other places to get ADB, But just know there is no need to download Gigantic SDK Kit from Google. You only need the basic ADB with Fastboot.
2) Press Volume Down, Then Press Power and Start your phone in Bootloader Mode. Then select Fastboot. Make sure your phone is now in Fastboot mode, it should say it at the top of all the choices.
3) Go to where you ADB folder is and hit Shift + Right Click = Open Command Window Here.
4) Now Plug your USB cable into your phone and type in Command Prompt this - fastboot devices. You should see your Phone listed. If you do not, go back and check everything.
5) Copy that Radio.img file from the Zip you extracted into your ADB Folder and then type
fastboot flash radio radio.img
It should take about 30 seconds.
Use the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698721 to push it to your phone.
Now you are done.
How To Increase Internal Storage using Data2SD. This puts Apps(apk) AND Data onto your SD EXT Partition so you have more free Internal memory on the internal /Data partition
MIUI comes with something called A2SD+ which is turned off by Default.
1) Go into TWRP Recovery. Create EXT-4 Partition. You will lose all data, so before doing this, its a good idea to backup.
Create an EXT partition size you are comfortable with and depending on your needs.
2) SWAP SPACE 0. You do not need it.
When it is done. Your SD Card now has a FAT partition and an EXT Partition. You can reformat your FAT to FAT32 in Windows if you would like and give it a name.
Then get this Script. MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING in the Following Threads.
This is Ungaze Data2SD Script. Script is now Attached at the bottom of this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1378568
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661892
Get the Data2SD Script and copy it to your SDCard FAT32 partition. Reboot your phone a couple times after flashing MIUI. Wipe Dalvik, Wipe Cache, Then Flash Ungaze D2SD from Recovery.
Follow directions in those threads and you should see an increase in Internal Storage Space in MIUI
You can delete the Contents of /mnt/asec/d2sd/data/app/* and /mnt/asec/d2sd/data/data/* from your Device Root which is "/" after this otherwise you will have 2 copies of the same app. You should only have Dalvik-Cache in this location as it links to your Internal Memory Data partition. Make a backup first to your SD Card incase something goes wrong by copying those APKs, then simply Delete them. Your Device System Partition will have System Apps, Data partition will have Dalvik Cache and your SD Card's EXT Partition will have the rest of the Apps and their Data.
ETC INFO
You will Need ROOT Access for almost everything if you want to make changes so make sure you have SuperUser Access Turned ON in MIUI.
Search for ADAWAY which creates a HOSTS file in your /System/etc Directory, which helps to block ads. I prefer using only open source apps or apps with Ads that do not Annoy.
Use ES File Explorer
And now you can install (or Uninstall) all the Pesky large size Google Apps. I personally stay away from ANY Google App I do not absolutely Need. I remove apps like
Google Search
Google Talk (Hangouts)
and Other Google crap.
MIUI has the basics of what you need. But you can Remove the MIUI Accounts etc because you won't be needing it.
And Anything Pesky that I cannot trust. Make sure you Backup in Recovery first before Uninstalling System Apps.
You can use an app called Disable Service from the PlayStore to disable Individual Services in an app incase you don't want certain services loading up. This should help conserve memory and cpu cycles if needed and also to disable functionalities in Apps that are otherwise impossible to disable. Link Below
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en
The idea is to keep it SIMPLE and functional.
Last but not least, Thanks to everyone at XDA for making things like this possible. Without this community, we would not be able to do the things we can to bring enjoyment and functionality to our devices. Thanks to everyone who finds a solution and posts it with details for everyone to understand. I hope this culture keeps growing stronger.
Don't forget to say Thanks
That's it Folks! Bring out your old Nexus One. It will be fast, and serve its purpose as a phone first. And YES, Even your mom will now be able to use it. Enjoy!

Thanks for your time and for sharing this with us... Maybe some of us knows these stuff but in the KK 4.4.4 era, there always is someone who want to use the Sexy Nexy as a fully functional phone and use an eye candy ROM and more user friendly than CM 7.2.
For recovery I recommend 4Ext Recovery

Hey, no problem! Yes 4Ext is a good recovery if you are on Blackrose and change your hboot partitions etc. My Guide is for those who don't want to mess with that and the TWRP Recovery is working flawless. I will mess around with Blackrose to increase internal Memory because one thing I find after bootloader unlock is the initial boot process is what takes the longest! MIUI Itself boots in less than half the time it takes for the intial boot. (Nexus X multi colored Logo with gray colored open lock at the bottom)
I am still not quite sure if the trouble of using Blackrose just to cut down my Cache partition to 50mb is worth the time and trouble because the phone is running fine. And I am also not sure if Blackrose will work with twrp. I will need to read more on this.
Thanks.
I completely agree with this OP. This is best rom you can use on the nexus one, I've played around with all sorts of roms and versions including the most recent KitKat iterations and non of them are smooth in comparison with a solid gingerbread rom. But this rom is particularly good because it still makes the Nexus One feel fresh.

Thanks Daaac, you are right. When I pull out this old Phone, people ask me where did I get it? And how nice it looks. When I tell them its over 4 years old, they seem surprised. What google still does not seem to realize is that when it comes to Phones, people look at both the Phone hardware AND its Software that's running on it. Android is terribly ugly and MIUI is the closest you can get to getting some kind of Organized option structure even though it lacks some power user features, it is still better than scrolling through endless Cyanogenmod Gingerbread options. Not the fault of Cyanogenmod, but I blame Google for the terrible User Interface of Android. Google seems to hire Amateurs to design their User Interface and then market it as Simplicity. In my opinion, Apple runs circles around Android when it comes to Fluidity but ofcourse we know why we stick to Android, for things an iOs user can only dream of, specially on older devices. This MIUI ROM comes closest to make your Nexus One a daily usable phone with very few annoyances, however it is stable, never crashes, and looks good.
Thanks for your guide, very nice to read your step by step, good as I didn't update nexus one since 1 year ago and I don't remember all steps.
Thanks!!
You are most certainly welcomed Sir! If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Thank you very much for taking the time to cook such a nice ROM for Nexus one. I hadn't installed any custom ROM on my device until some days ago. It is really awesome. Considering that Nexus one is an old device I do not expect to be any update for this ROM, but in case there was one I would appreciate it if you could post the link.
You need to see the first post for that to happen.

More security fixes!! I can't believe my eyes. Thanks a ton!
Hola launcher
I have tried Hola launcher (e.g. with chromatic theme), and its icons are similar to MIUI icons in contrast with Hola launcher (which is similar to latest Android versions).
P.s. I am just testing . I don't know if this launcher will drain the battery fast or not.
That launcher will slow down your system, and constantly try to download ads. It also takes up a LOT of RAM. The idea here to make the device run FAST consuming as little resources as possible. On a fresh boot, my N1 RAM usage is at 95MB, and after 28 Hours, it is 144MB. With other processes that are important Cached. My Dialer starts and makes calls upto 3 seconds faster than my Galaxy 3 on Lollipop.
All this can be achieved by disabling Google Play Services and Google Play Store from starting on boot (unless you have apps that you are always using and depend constantly on them) - I don't use apps that heavily depend on Google Play Services, and if I do, I start the service and the app, then I press the "back" key and exit Google Play Services. - Xposed Framework module attached to prevent Apps from running helps.
Battery life is great, easily lasts 2-3 days with minor screen time / talk time - Heavy usage can last a full day. This is all on a 2010 phone with an old battery. My Nexus One puts most people's dual core modern phones to shame when it comes to speed

That is fantastic battery life and speed you have!
I have got some questions and appreciate your help (Please forgive my newbie questions and such a long post)
1) When I want to run PHONE and MESSAGING applications on “Holo launcher” it gives this error message: "This activity cannot be launched". Although stock MIUI icons for these applications work fine.
2) I partitioned my memory card using ClockworkMod recovery and I dedicated 2 Gb’s of my 16 Gb class 10 microSD card (I haven’t had any problem with this recovery so far but if you think it may be incompatible with your ROM or cause issues please let me know and I will replace it). After flashing Ungaze Data2SD I see an increase in the internal memory . To be honest I didn’t completely understand the rest of the instructions so I do not know whether I have done it right or not.
"You can delete the Contents of /mnt/asec/d2sd/data/app/* and /mnt/asec/d2sd/data/data/* from your Device Root which is "/" after this otherwise you will have 2 copies of the same app. You should only have Dalvik-Cache in this location as it links to your Internal Memory Data partition. Make a backup first to your SD Card in case something goes wrong by copying those APKs, then simply Delete them. Your Device System Partition will have System Apps, Data partition will have Dalvik Cache and your SD Card's EXT Partition will have the rest of the Apps and their Data."
This is what I did:
I used “adb shell” to access the contents of those two locations and deleted their contents. As I said before I didn’t understand the rest of the instructions and I assumed it has been done correctly!! Then I installed my apps normally but I do not know whether they have been copied to the internal memory or the memory card. (I have downloaded apk’s of all apps I use from "apps.evozi. /apk-downloader/" or "apk4fun" and I have installed them using package manager).
My main question is what do I do after cleaning up those two locations and how do I install the apps so they will be copied to the memory Card’s Ext partition.
You should only have Dalvik-Cache in this location (What location exactly?)
Your Device System Partition will have System Apps (/system?)
Data partition will have Dalvik Cache (/data?)
SD Card's EXT Partition (/sd-ext?) If I am right as I have “adb” installed on my windows, it doesn’t show me the contents of this folder naturally. I have Ubuntu Linux too but “adb” is not installed on it.
Thanks a lot for your time!
1) Remove Holo Launcher icons and drag and drop Phone and Messaging icon from Drawer into the Dock at the bottom.
2) Use TWRP recovery.
3) /Data partition is EXT2 partition on your SDCard. Apps+Data (app data) will be there.
4) /mnt/asec/d2sd will be the "other" data partition (the original data partition) which is where your Dalvik cache will be.
5) Apps will be installed where their manifest suggests - Most apps will be installed to /Data on your EXT and their Dalvik Cache will be on the Internal parition /mnt/asec/d2sd/Dalvik-Cache
6) Use ES File Explorer - give it Root permissions - make sure Superuser permissions is set to On and inside ES Explorer you give Root access R/W - you can view all partions there
7) Use DiskInfo to see all your partitions

Oh lord, might be joining the N1 family due to recent corrupt internal data/EMMC failures on the Sensation and One Mini. Hoping to get a daily ROM and stable service from AT&T. Any critical updates/preventions prior to dusting off 2 years of being shelved and lending to 3 people (aka TANK N1).

Thanks for posting about Stagefright bug. It seems to be a hell of a bug. I have done all of them except the first one. Could you elaborate on how to edit build.prop?

3) Use Firefox. Type about:config > Search for Stragefright > Set stagefright.disabled to True

You edit build.prop either right on the phone using a text editor, or if you're like me, do it on the computer with Notepad++. It's a text based file. Oh yes, that was a spelling error. Fixed.

Jiayu S3 viruses?

Hello,
I am having through a major problem here. I am trying to figure how got into this and solve this problem.
I am new to android but generally and experienced user. Bought my Jiayu from vickmall pre-rooted about 4 months ago and realised that my phone if infected when random apps where installing themselves from time to time (once very two weeks eg.).
Generally I am installing Google apps only except Adway and a few other essential non google play apps.
Also I am careful with what I installed and most of apps ever download where legit (e.g facebook etc).
Thanks to SDMaid I found a virus SYSTEM app hidden from normal app explorer with the name "Pine" and package name org.slaughter.brilliant. The name itself got me very suspicious. I also noticed that "install from unknown sources" was automatically turned on each time I opening my Wifi or Data.
So I exported the apk and scanned through various online scanner giving me obviously that is harmful.
e.g anubis.iseclab org/?action=result&task_id=18ea3597ad6a61394e5335fefcbc86899&format=html
Un-installed it through SDMaid and then the nightmare came...
I am having numerous of app ads several times a day to the notifications bar or as a shortcut icons that go to google play. I see from time to time a toast says "Downloading" without having any visible result.
You realise that this is not as common as a rogue app can be, besides the fact I am acting like a paranoid at the moment ....
With SDMaid again through latest modified files I saw 3 files in the ES Explorer folder named "recomm" that had a list with all this spammy apps that I get notifications. I was quite upset and though that ES Explorer (quite known app I think) was packed with rogue apps!?. So I deleted it but nothing. Ads came again the other day.
I tried to see from what app came the ad notification "e.g Holo Launcer" by pressing the notification for a few secs. I saw that it came from trebuchet launcher...
I tried scanning my phone with avg, malwarebytes and kaspersky. I got something only with kaspersky the following file in a .kpsh folder (related to com.kpsh.sdk.KpshService of trebuchet?).
virustotal com/en/file/6871be33ba862c4594ffee60444f7cf296cb657e4f1384a27c1be6a5da0d7078/analysis/
Erased it but it seems to recreate itself again from time to time.
Also scanned trebuchet and settings app here and got these.
virustotal com/en/file/000f796f06f193f2e61eb007d374a06d3211ddb7e1facf3c386621e1f024b828/analysis/1442420388/
virustotal com/en/file/bbb2783fb9a2ad9aa94fc71d6b78179917e8669ec266cdd5758fd1e46f853bdf/analysis/1442420356/
I decided to erase the whole .kpsh folder to see if that solves the problem till now.
My mistake I believe is leaving "Unknown sources" on as it was by default and got to this mess without know what app did all this. I believe that I was going to get a warning before something got installed but unfortunately...no.
I don't know if this was prepacked or something or was totally my mistake somehow but I am slowly giving hope away.
Any suggestion would be very helpful.
Reflash the whole thing is my very very last option since I am not familiar with the process.
Thank you all for the time reading this.
Hi,
I've experienced exactly the same problem a couple of days ago. I used the Addons Detector-app to find out that the Trebuchet-app was responsible for the icon and message ads. Unfortunately it was part of the default apps and couldn't be deleted via the apps manager.
I first installed the Nova Launcher-app as a replacement for the Trebuchet Launcher 3
and activated it (Apps -> Start Page). Then I stopped the Trebuchet app, installed the Root Uninstaller-app, enabled the request of root access (Security Superuser), started the Root Uninstaller-app, chose System Apps and selected the Trebuchet Launcher-app. After pressing the delete button and confirming the root access the app was moved to the waste basket. That's it!
I found that "install from unknown sources" was several times enabled again without my action. AVG antivirus detected ap. "Education" and "Settings" ? as malware. I have frozen "Education" - it cant't uninstall, and after that unknown sources does not change it's status..
Find com.android.fallen if exists in system\app and delete it (use file explorer with root).

Same thing here but recently I got very tired and did "reflash the whole thing".
Ingredients were: Smart Phone Flash Tool, the right USB driver, a lot of RTFM and the latest 5.1.1 Beta (#4) from Jiayu Germany. Even though it is beta, I already prefer it over that bugged OS it came with.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I checked the beta #4 at virustotal, no probs!

Decided to flash to jiayu germany 5.1.1 beta 10. I managed to get the rom but the flashing tutorial I found is in german.
Do you have instructions of backup/reflash/recover or whatever in English please?

Use SP Flash Tool on your computer. If you come from KK (such as perhaps your stock ROM) and go to to LP (such as the Beta10 ROM) then it is important to choose 'firmware upgrade' in SP Flash Tool. That's because partition layout changed (LP has one extra partition, not sure what it is for). Once on LP you can choose 'download' to flash further LP upgrades. To backup/recover a ROM one typically uses a custom recovery (mostly TWRP on S3). Beta10 comes prepackaged with LP partition aware TWRP. Beta10 also has GApps, so there is no need to flash GApps on top of it.
Success

It's a bit hard to remember my odyssey though webspace back then but I bookmarked some stuff... but here is a pretty decent recipe: some link*
The SP Flash tool was fairly easy but to use get the drivers running was problem. Tried some things without success and got lucky with the same site: some other link**
Altogether:
1. Get SP Flash tool and the right USB driver and make it work (eg. ADB driver)
2. Get the ROM
3. Choose the ".scatter"-file in SP Flash tool and flash
It's some weeks now and I also vaguely remember that the phone had to be off (well, not really sure but you'll see).
! Don't forget to check any downloaded at least with virustotal - I did that back then but the DL-links might have changed.
!! Use it at your own risk! Some kittens might get killed, or even worse: your gets bricked.
* and ** Alas, my apologies, I am not allowed yet to post links but if you google for androidxda sp flash you should find it instantly or just let me know.
Okay, I'm probably a little late for this, but hopefully this will be somewhat helpful to other people having the same problem.
I myself have purchased a Jiayu S3 Advanced a few months back: while the price is hard to beat, it comes with that ROM that sometimes starts installing "random" apps on its own. At first it was bearable, but at some point it started downloading multiple apps every day.
After some analysis (pretty much looking for data usage by different apps) I figured that the problem was with the Trebuchet launcher (which was the only app in that list that I didn't recall using - and also, why would it need Internet access?).
So, what I've done was rather straightforward: install Google Now launcher (but any other launcher should do), uninstall that other launcher. Worked like a charm!
Also, I've heard a few people complaining about this sort of problem with Chinese smartphones: watch out and consider that next time you buy a new smartphone! I know I will

How to disable batt_health process in MotoG4 RR

Hi,
This is related to a previous thread where internal memory gets full, which was solved temporarily.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/rr5-8-4-athene-internal-memory-filled-t3678840
I am using
[ROM][OFFICIAL] Resurrection Remix v5.8.5 [7.1.2_r29][XT16xx][athene] + Magisk + ElementalX on Moto G4 Plus with 128 GB SD card as adopted storage.
The internal memory was getting full within a week, and with the help of suggestions received, I located that /data/power_supply_logger had .csv log files which were 20GB+ in size. So I deleted them and solved the problem at the time.
Then it repeated in a week I had the same issue. the log files grow about 2 MB every minute. I removed write permissions to the folder and deleted the file.
I noticed that since I removed the permissions to write, the battery life really got longer and the phone also charges much quickly now. Some users pointed out that battery was charging slowly in RR - I faced that problem too and it looks like has gone away. I would like to make it a bit cleaner - a process making an attempt to write every minute and failing is got a good work around.
Using AppsSD I found that /system/bin/batt_health running as mot_pwric user is attempting to write every minute and now that the permission is removed the attempt is failing.
Is there a way I can disable this process - it is not listed in Apps or System apps.
Or if anyone knows how to disable logging by batt_health, that would be better.
Thanks
Sreekumar
Maybe some of your apps are logging there?! I have this folder too, but empty.
/system/bin/batt_health running as mot_pwric user is the process logging it. How to disable this process - or if it is spawned by an app, how to locate the parent app.

My suggestion: Just install the rom and gapps mini/pico or beans mini and see if it logs again. If not: install ONE of your 3rd party apps, see if it happens again. If not, install the next one and so on.
Maybe you have switched something on in Rom settings?

I too have this folder and is showing 1.01mb in size.
I cut out read acces to batt_health and it seems nothing has changed.
Also i search folders for battery stats and all are nrml to me.
All of them combined also im not getting more than 10+mbs.
Idk what u have been using or any particular reason for you
I'll suggest clean flash your rom. Use verified gapps and restore backup of apps only and not data. If and if only you need that data restore it.
Use device for 3 to 4 days and see if problem exist.
OK. I will try these suggestions and see if goes away.
