GSM Arena recently got a hands on video on the UI of the LG Prada phone here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g63Nr-9IFfc
And i have to say, it's one sexy but professional looking UI.
Any themers who are interested in recreating this?
Absolutely reminds me of Go Launcher. Should be easy to pull of with a Go Launcher Theme.
But the black/white icons are fugly as hell...
I was thinking of something that goes beyond the OS, like the system elements like the status bar or popup icons. Kinda like the Black Android theme by Nitroz (which he sadly abandoned)
Actually I love the sleek minimalist design the new Prada phone has and would love to see this thing ported for use in ICS, however I am not going to hold my breath waiting on it. But I may at some point try to mimic the style a bit using custom icons and changing the notification icon colors.

you can get the theme of Nitroz in the hyperdroid rom..they are keeping his theme up to date now
This theme will go great with any phone that has AMOLED. Anything similar?
Well, I have a LG Prada 3.0 from work (promoting it in the store i work), could there be anyway i could "rip" the theme for someone to make it compatible with SGSII or maybe even make it a Go Theme?
Edit: I've been looking for a fairly secure way to root AND unroot it, but haven't found much... When I get home home, i'll take a closer look at how it's set up on the phone.

I've been trying for an hour now and i can't get AC to work properly.. Rooting the device went fine with rageagainsthecage exploit in SuperOneClick, and it seems that I have full access.
I found a guide (http://www.ehow.com/how_12211911_system-dump-android.html), but i doesn't work.. I'm guessing it's because /dev/block/stl6 isn't the right path for this phone.
Is it usable if I just copy the /system folder to the sdcard through a root explorer?
Saw the review of it on engadget. Only thing I thought that looked good was the UI. Would love to have it for my phone.

A while back I requested the lockscreen sliders from the R2-D2 Droid2 to be ported to our Glaciers and it was kind enough to have been fulfilled by Rich2Thad. It looks and works great with CM7 RC1. He based it on MrDSL's Mixer Theme. I had also done some personalization to it once he got everything functioning on it. Since RC2 came out and MrDSL released a version of his theme that works with RC2, I went ahead and merged the Star Wars theme with the new Mixer. Everything works great, except the call answer screen. I cannot get it to show the proper lockscreen sliders. I copied the files into the same places that Rich had used in the RC1 version. If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong I would really appreciate it!
Here's the link to download the RC2 Star Wars theme.
I want to say thank you to MrDSL for his killer Mixer theme. Without it I would not have my super pimp Star Wars theme! And also thank you to Rich2Thad! Because without him I would also not have my super pimp Star Wars theme! It really does make other nerds drool!
I believe the png's you are looking for are in the phone.apk. You can modify them just like the frameworkres.apk. Hopefully this helps you out.
Edit: Just pull the images from the old phone.apk and place them in the new phone.apk.

No, I never got the call screen working. I tried to edit your most recent theme in apk format to try to get this working too. But whenever I try to install it, it says application not installed. I'm at kind of a loss as to what to try next. :/

It looks correct to me..I assume you're using the apk? After you replaced the images did you resign the .apk? It won't install without being signed..
If you don't know how then attach your modified version of my .apk here and I will sign it for you and repost it when I get home..
Use the newer Mixer_03.apk
edit...after looking at the images you want to replace you would need to use the metamorph file since the theme engine doesnt work with the lock screen..give me a few here
I did not sign it! That would be the reason! I think I can get it signed with Android Commander. Thanks so much for looking at it! If I run into any problems with signing I'll post it up. Thanks again!
EDIT: I looked at your thread on the General Themes forum and it only has Mixer_02.apk
The lock images you will have to use a metamorph on cause they won't work in the apk but all the other images can go directly in the apk..I would go ahead and put all the images there so they are there but the lock screen you will have to use a metamorph..
Follow?
Sorry Mixer_02 cause I havent released Mixer_03 yet.
I'm pretty sure I follow. Just replace the images in your metamorph zip with the images I have for the lockscreen.

Mostly what he is doing is just replacing some images from my .apk..What you could do is install the Mixer.apk and then just apply his metamorph to it.
So hopefully he will share his metamorph..

Just to check make sure all animations are turned on under settings>display
just as well do not make your animations fast with spare parts, they need to be set to normal.
At that point the crt animation should be working IF it's included in the build.

Oh. Well either way it should be on it's default settings..
Even with all animations enabled in settings and in spare parts, the CRT animation doesn't happen .
I guess it's for Samsung, SE, LG and HTC phones only then ..sad sad..
It's not just that only LG and HTC put it into their builds, Google included it in Gingerbread... Motorola just took it out, but that's not to say we won't have someone dev up a rom with this very important feature included.

I have also confirmed this method works. As stated by silver2ks4, make sure to use moto-res.apk as the dependee apk. Also, avoid trying to shortcut this process by using RootExplorer, as you will more than likely encounter a boot loop (I know from experience ). Be sure to use ADB as prescribed by the OP. All of the steps are there, and the process takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Really nice effect!
Awesome! I followed the instructions and it worked quite nicely. To be honest, this was the number one UI aspect I was looking forward to in gingerbread and I was so sad to see it not present in Motorola's build. Thanks a million for the link to the tutorial.
Is there a non-adb method to getting this to work? ya know for us folk who have never used adb before.
How to port Sense.
Source: http://forums.androidcentral.com/optimus-v-rooting-roms-hacks/164989-guide-how-i-port.html (second post)
This is NOT my guide, just posting it here!
This is a very difficult process that I hope you'll understand.
First step is to find a device that is preferably VERY similar to your device, in this instance I guess we would use the htc thunderbolt, which I've been told multiple times that it is used for the MT.
You're going to want to use CM7 for parts. Simple enough.
I will be referring the Sense ROM to SENSE and CM7 as BASE to simple things up. So remember that.
When I say replace, I would recommend deleting from one and adding it with the other
Open up Sense and Base in different windows.
Put in the boot.img from Base into Sense (make sure you put the original boot.img in some other place that you'll remember)
go into /system/usr on both
replace keylayouts and keychars from Base into Sense (this is just your keys)
download dsixda's kitchen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246)
Get the ROM you have so far set up in it and what not (I'm a little fuzzy at this part)
Once you get done with that, run the menu in terminal and navigate your way to decompile the boot.img (action key- "a") and then run the same thing except run the action key "w" to decompile the original boot.img. So the key here is to decompile both boot.img's.
Go into the ramdisk on both and go into init.rc
THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IN THIS (THE MATTER OF BOOT AND BOOTLOOP) IS THE LINE
"export BOOTCLASSPATH" near the top. It will have a bunch of lines after it. Now in the Base's boot.img, delete this whole line. Replace it with the lines from Sense's boot.img.
Now you can add anything else you want that looks like it belongs (preferably anything sense related)
Don't recompile the boot.img yet.
Now we add a2sd. To do this, just follow this guide (https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=158823170833688)
The only thing you do in there is the edits to the init.rc, don't listen to the decompiling/recompiling mentions. Now you can go back into the menu for the kitchen and recompile the boot.img (action key - "b"). Now don't compile the WHOLE ROM, just take the new boot.img in working_** and put it into the Sense zip.
Now you're going to want to download my ROM (sorry, just don't feel like uploading each individual file) http://gannon5197.blogspot.nl/2012/03/got-sense-booted.html
And go into the /system/bin on both
these are the files you're going to need: a2sd, bash, apps2sd.hlp, busybox.a2sd, chka2sd, jita2sd, launcha2sd, starta2sd, and maybe possibly sh (try once without it)
And you're going to want to set permissions for each one of these in the updater-script (look at mine for references)
Now also look at my zip and you'll see move_cache_sd. Put that in yours and set permissions for it in updater-script (use mine for references)
After that, the other stuff is mainly just getting rid of all the bloatware, (look in /system/app and /system/media) I wouldn't delete any libs as of right now. If you try to flash it and it reboots recovery then it is too big.
If it is too big, you're probably going to want to move a lot of the apps to data. To do this, just make a file called data/app/put_your_apps_here on the root of the zip. You're going to have to set permissions for it in the updater-script, but use the test.zip I sent you in the original.
This will most likely get you booted. Nothing will likely work. Which is expected. If you have any problems, just use logcat. It will be your bestfriend. Have fun porting

Hi Everyone,
I just registered here on xda today and I am a newbie so please be lenient with me.
Just want to share my newbie experience. Since the LS2 leak I've been trying to port multiwin dows from Note2 and then came the LS7 leak which includes multiwindows already, I have experimented with different dpi values and swapped files from other galaxy tablets to our Note1. It's sleepless nights of excitement exploring more possibilities for our Note1 and to cut the story short I came up with this. See screenshots below.
Please be aware I am not responsible if you break your phone. This is only for the brave souls. But actually I have done it many times the last few days with constant reflashing, swapping files, and trying to understand what makes it all tick and my phone was OK. It actually came out better than I expected. Thanks to all the cumulative ideas that I have gathered from all the people here at xda (who I can't remember to give special credit to) but anyway in the spirit of sharing, here it goes.
So here is the procedure and the files are attached for convenience.
Download this CWM flashable zip. (Thanks to nanomet for the CWM zip file).
1. Please make a nandroid backup first so you can return to your previous state in case you want to.
2. Make sure you are on rooted deodexed LS7 with CWM recovery. I am on Bangsti's ROM.
NOTE: I am currently testing it on odexed ROM and just to let you know the CWM flashable file does NOT work on odexed ROMs yet because it does not have the ability to delete corresponding odex files when flashed.
3. Make sure install another launcher like Apex or Nova as a failsafe in case TW Launcher forecloses. I use Android 4.2 launcher.
4. Install build prop editor from the Play Store. Run Build Prop Editor and change ro.sf.lcd.density to 213. Then add new property: qemu.hw.mainkeys with value 0. Save and don't reboot yet.
5. Now reboot into CWM recovery then flash N7000.LS7.deodex.MultiWindow.zip then reboot.
6. Voila! most stock apps are resizable including Settings although they don't appear on the dock.
Now you can see the navigation bar with an arrow on the right that opens up a dock with some applications. At the moment all you see are Gallery, Videoplayer and Browser. Most stock apps are resizable but they don't appear on the dock. Now experiment by swapping apps from TAB7 2 and Note10.1 that you prefer to change depends on he layout you want. Some want the double pane apps like music player, files and task manager. Everytime you need to reboot for the apps to appear on the dock. Some work others don't depend on the window profile currently selected in the dock.
7 The apps from TAB and Note10.1 appear on the dock whereas the Note1 stock apps don't. And now, thanks to vingar for referring the thread from Note10.1, I was able to confirm my thought that all apps can be modded to be resizable like Spotify, Dropbox, Evernote as you can see on the screenshots below.
8. Now all we need is share the modded free apps so everybody can benefit - like Gmail, Youtube, etc. CALLING out those DEVs who are interested and have the skill to mod apps to participate. As for bought apps, you need to learn how to decompile and mod your bought apps.
9. Another concern is keeping the stock multiview functionality that is included in LS7 together with multiwindows from NOTE10.1 together make the device buggy so I decided to let go of the multiview of LS7 and stick with the multiwindows of NOTE10.1. You can do that by deleting the file com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone from system/etc/permissions. Note: Now multiwindow from LS7 and Note10.1 can co-exist but they should not be used at the same time. Turn off LS7 multiwindows if using the window layouts in the dock. That is completely up to you.
10. And that's it. Enjoy and I hope you share your experience and mods. Keep sharing fellows. Please PM me with link to modded apps so I can post it here for others to see without having to go all the way through the thread. Thanks.

** you can find modded non-stock apps on this thread. it even gives info on how to mod your own apps.
** Ianbbaa has just released his v3 ROM and I have tried it and just like he said, it is just a preview and has not been polished for speed yet because of time contraints on his part. I am currently testing my mod on stock odexed ROM and I find the speed better. [see quadrant screenshot below]. I admire his efforts and I am in fact using his modded apps from his ROM for my personal use for now and I advise you to try his ROM. If he would allow me I would make available his modded apps on this thread but until then, you can download it in his thread.
This is Greaaaat!!
I was trying to do something similar earlier but didn't have the time to follow it through!
Your efforts are impressive!

Hi Everyone,
Just want to share my newbie experience. It seems multiview with LS7 is not enough so I remember some thread in this forum about changing dpi and so I did and experimented with different values and of course had FCs of TW Launcher and SystemUI, and I thought maybe I'll try the TW Launcher and SystemUI from the Note10.1 JB but I can't make it to work so I thought maybe the one from TA B7 2 JB would be a better fit and yes it did at 213 dpi which I was surprised because the icons are bigger than 240 dpi with the stock launcher and look nicer. I change build.prop to have soft buttons then based on the airview fix discussed in the forum, I was curious about such a small file would make airview work all of a sudden so I tried to see what permissions are different from Note10.1 to Note5.3 so I tried to copy persmissions that are missing from Note5.3 and rebooted and voila, I was surprised with stock Gallery and Videoplayer app with resizable/maximise/restore window support just like in DESKTOP PC. The other apps are not and the browser is FC. So I copied the browser from Note10.1 and the browser worked. The rest of the stock apps doesn't work but when I flashed the multiview hack circulating from the forums, I came up with most stock apps being resizable just like the Gallery app, even Settings, Dialer, Contacts, Music Player, Files, Snote, Smemo, Email, MMS even though they do not appear on the dock. I have been playing around with it for a few days now since the LS7 leak and it is a usable daily driver, fast and a bit buggy sometimes, maybe because I am not a dev and I don't know about modding and decompiling and recompiling and so and so. So if you Guys want to try I can share the procedure and the files to swap and I know you can better make a better ROM than I do.
Just to show you a screenshot.

I was actually on alliance alpha 1 when I tried this experiment and there was one error that I dont know how to resolve. I can't seem to connect to the computer by usb cable so I tried the one from bangsti and the error was gone although I think the alliance rom was faster. Maybe if robbie hood can include this in his rom as an option and polish it a bit, it would really be awesome.
You made it so simple it looks like a piece of cake
Have to dl deodexed rom to try it out. Thanks

Thanks. Just like I said I am a curious newbie but can follow instructions and its actually quite simple. If I knew how to maks a flashable zip then it would just be a one step. Try it out and substitue apps from tab7 2 and note10.1 and see what works for you including widgets from ICS. Tell us how ot goes.

Hi,
If you send me the edited files, and the paths they should go in, I could make it in a cwm zip for you.
It's quite easy to do.
Or else I could send you a pre made cwm zip that you can just place the things that you want flashing in.
Let me know if I can help.
Cheers
Corey

this is really cool [while a lot of us are waiting for MiniTab_v0,3] I tested on Ultimate_LS7, many stock apps work nicely, you share a huge thing xperiacle :good: if ianbbaa not releasing MiniTab_v0,3, believe some of us can mix your sharing with v0,2 for their own
hope all of these features together with v0,3 you and ianbbaa will make our incredible NOTE more wonderful :victory:
for those who want a CWM doing MOST steps in the OP, you can use my file as following, a backup before flashing is always recommended, it works on my Note with Ultimate_LS7
BEFORE flashing you need:
1. Make sure you are on rooted deodexed LS7 with CWM recovery. I haven't tried it on odexed one but maybe it will work.
2. Make sure install another launcher like Apex or Nova as a failsafe in case TW Launcher forecloses. I use Android 4.2 launcher.
3. Install Root explorer or Root browser lite or Solid Explorer or anything that can access root folder with R?W and can change permissions. Install build prop editor from the Play Store.
4. Run Build Prop Editor and edit ro.sf.lcd.density to 213. Then add new property: qemu.hw.mainkeys with value 0. Save and reboot.

Just picked up a new galaxy tablet 7.0 (8GB) about a week ago. Great device so far and love it. I just can't stand the preloaded bloatware on the device and the space its taking up. It's currently running version 4.0.4
I've read up a bit up on ROMS and rooting the device. Seem pretty comfortable with it just have a few questions.
1) Do I need an SD card in the device in order to root it?
2) Best rom out there? Appears like the most talked about rom is the Cyanogen Mod 10?
No you don't need an SD Card but you may as well get one as you will need it once you start making nandroid back ups. Your tab fill up quickly ! Not to mention media and apps on top of that as well. Bigger the better to be honest.
No such thing as the best ROM, Once you are rooted try them all out and find one that suits your needs. I love AOKP M1( link in my sig) as you can customize it more than CM10 and has better features IMO.
If you dont want to customize it , try a deodexed stock based ROM with all the bloat removed, ROMSWELL makes some cool ROMS. Search the DEV section of this forum.
As i said its a personal choice , so flash them and try them out. Wont cost you anything apart from some time..... If you need help just ask and someone will give you some advice. Don't forget to flash some GApps ( Goggle Applications) as they are not normally included in a ROM due to copyright issues.
Most of all have fun.
Oh id go for a JellyBean based ROM , nothing wrong with ICS , just the latest version out (4.2 is around the corner as well with some cool new stuff )

Thanks for the info! So the 4.0.4 is not jelly bean but its ICS?
How can I not download Jelly bean.. when I try to do an update it says its the most recent one..
I did see that some ROMS allow you to OC the device, so squeezing that extra little juice out of it I wouldn't mind either
Yeah you're trying to update "stock" and its not been released as yet to the general public.....So flash a custom ROM (once you have root)
Once you root , forget about Samsung updates as they wont work any more, But the XDA community devs do that for us much quicker than Samsung does !
Heres a rough guide from Codeworkx (CM10)
First time installing CyanogenMod 10 to your Galaxy Tab 2, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM10 ZIPs to your internal SDCard ( or the external SD Card )
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM10 zip from internal SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from internal SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Reboot

The ROM you are running is Ice Cream Sandwich, comes as a "stock" standard on our tabs, CM10 and AOKP are both JellyBean, Some other customs ROMs are as well. Both are under/over-clockable and both can use custom kernels as well. Both VERY stable and have very good support threads by the devs that compiled them.
How to ROOT your Tab
ClockWorkMod recovery
CM10
AOKP
More ROMs for our Tabs

Thanks for your help! Great info there. Are any of these ROMS more complex than the other? I just don't want to get into it too deep or too complex and having more of a issue getting things up and running properly or are these all the same complexity when installed? ie.. customization etc..
Aokp is very similar to CM based ROMs. They are as easy to set up as a stock ROM, only they allow for more tweaks than a factory ROM. The only thing that you have a to do with a custom rom is flash gapps(Google apps) usually in the rom thread. Read, reread, and grow a pair. The fear will turn into a high that draws you in. There is a reason that the term crack-flashing was born. It is very simple to do it on this tablet. If you have any trouble pm me, or post here, and I will walk you through it. I just did it a couple of days ago for my daughters. Good luck

At first try stable roms like AOKP JB milesone 1
As JeramyEggs said , just jump in and get wet ! They are all pretty much the same , I just prefer AOKP as I can customize it a little bit more than the others. I really dont like the way CM10 handles the navigation bar , where as AOKP lets you do as you wish to it. And I like the toggles it uses as well.
Dump stock what ever you do, Dont get me wrong I love the Samsung stock ROMs as they look stunning and the widgets are top class. The music/video players are quality. You will also gain some space on your tab as well. Stock ROMs are around 750MB and custom ROMs are normally under 200MB
Stock has no theme engine as such , that means if you want to change the way it looks ( other than wallpapers) you will have to start decompiling some system .apks ( Applications ) and it gets a tad tricky messing with .xmls.and getting it all working again.
With the theme engine in place you have 100s of themes to choose from ( over 500 in fact) and plenty of mods you can flash as well, You can even edit themes either online or on your PC with some XDA made applciations ( I use "tickle my android" personally to make themes / Edit apks like widgets n stuff )
CM10/AOKP are always being updated ( But AOKP has stopped development for the moment as I mentioned above , until 4,2 is ported) CM10 has a preview build out already. Both ROMs have a ROM control option to pimp your device up as well.
If you look through this thread , you can see most of the main ROMs and what we all do with them.
I tend to flash most of the new ROMs just to try them out. When I'm done messing around with it all I do is boot into recovery and restore my nandroid back up and I'm back to the way I was .Its kinda like system restore on a Windows PC.
Get stuck on anything , just ask as most of the forum members are all pretty cool and more than willing to help out.
My advice is......GO FOR IT !!11!!!1 What you got to lose ?

Reading some of this stuff I am overwhelmed. So in order to backup the device up I need to root it first?
I will start with the HOW TO ROOT YOUR TAB thing now and see how far I get..
So I started last night and let's say didn't get very far. Downloaded the neccessary files but for some stupid reason the Kies software (needed to install this to get the drivers installed for the tablet so I can transfer the contents to it) was not installing.
I left my laptop on during the night and it never finished installing the software. I obtained it right from the Samsung Support website.
Any idea what could be causing this?
Also, once I do get this software installed so that the device shows up under Windows Explorer so I can drag the neccessary .zip files to it. Is there a specific location on the device I should place the files on? I do not currently have a SD card in the tablet.
Oh and my device model is a GT-P3113
So I managed to install Kies.. Guess it was getting hung up on .NET framework 4. So I just downloaded and installed myself and then tried the Kies thing and it went right through the install.
So now I should be good to actually see the device in Windows Explorer once I plug it in.
My question still remains, any particular spot on the device I need to place the .zip files for rooting?

Anywhere you can easily find the tar.md5 file on your windows drive, the*cwm-root-gtab2.zip goes to*/mnt/extSdCard which is the root, don't place in a file. I rooted mine via http://rootzwiki.com/topic/25228-how-to-rooting-gt-p3113-step-by-step-updated-07182012/

Okay.. so /mnt/extSdCard is if you have a SD card in the device.
But I do not have a SDcard, that is why i am actually asking does it matter where I place the files within the tablet internal storage due to not having a micro sd card.

Well, do your own research. There is a table of contents in the 7" dev forum, go read the rooting method there and also in the general section. Also, I'm not responsible for what others post and, you can ask the other guy how he rooted his without an sd. I recommend reading about rooting before doing it. I will say this is the easiest device to root.
So I managed to root the device. Was pretty straight forward once I got going. I installed AOKP milestone 1 rom as per someones suggestion here saying it's stable. Overall it does look nicer now and smoother only a couple of questions.
1) I took a backup or the stock stuff before doing anything after performing the root. Now I noticed all the data is gone lol.. Is there anyway to get the data back? Mainly the game progress and all the other stuff?
2) I see AOKP has a theme function under it's settings, currently there is only 1 listed. Where does one obtain themes for it? It's not in the Play Store, is it?
3) Saw the overclocking option also, does that mean the overclock can be pumped up to 1200mhz?
Guess my main question now is whether or not I can get that data back lol..
If you performed a factory reset after flashing your custom ROM, which you should have anyway, I'm sorry to say you have lost your data.

Sure did.. Oh well now I'll know at least and look into the actual backup apps to backup game progress.
The .zip files I put on the table prior to rooting, like fix-recovery, the clockwork mod file as well as the actual ROM, can those be removed off the tablet now?
I played around a bit last night and I found the THEME Choose on the Play Store and I saw themes.

2) you can find aokp/cm theme on playstore, usualy nice theme will cost more
3) yes you can overclock it via ROM control on setting
