[Q] White bleed on overlays - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I moved to CM7 (stable) running from the SD card (SanDisk 16GB C4).
I've notice a few apps that have white backgrounds bleeding white onto overlays. Not completely, sometimes just lines.
So far - Aldiko menu, Kindle app menu, FBReader selection menu and Pulse thumbnails.
Has anyone else seen this issue? possible solution?
I would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction.
I've removed and re-installed the offending apps. No change.
Also tried turning off compatibility mode. Nothing.
Thank you in advance!

*added a picture for clarification
This is a picture of the overlay issue I've been experiencing.
It shows Aldiko in day mood; returns to normal in night mode -very curious.
Any fix? or should I just start over?

[Q] i9506 touchwiz problem

After using the phone for a while a strange problem occurs. The widgets turn black but if you tap on them, they work. Just on home screen they look black.
If you enter to the Apps menu and try to edit any page (try to move an icon for ex) there is going to be a distortion at the background like color changing or instead of the background,
there will be a stretched icon of an application.
I have attached some screenshots for you to see.
Also a temporary solution to this problem that i found is to restart TouchWiz with an application i found on Play Store.
The name of the app is TouchWiz Killer.
Is there a permanent solution to this annoying problem that anyone has found?

[Q] [NST] Horizontal white lines in status bar?

I have a rooted nook simple touch (rooted with Nook Manager).
This morning, I noticed two white horizontal lines in the top notification area.
These line persisted even after I reboot or restore the NST.
However, it appeared fainter when I was in apps with black background (such as Superuser or Orion viewer).
What caused this to happen?
Is there any ways to solve it?

I am assuming this is a case of stuck pixels, which has no real fix.
However, just to be sure, will you please take a screenshot of the screen and take a picture of the screen with an external camera, and post them both for me here?
Hopefully you made a backup before rooting, if so use Nook manager to restore and see if your problem is resolved.

White overlay on home screen

Edit: figured it out.
I downloaded a bunch of apps last night that required screen overlay (draw over other apps) permission to operate. I uninstalled all of them, but now when I scroll horizontally on my home screen of Nova launcher, this white transparent overlay pops up on my screen except over the status bar. It’s most apparent when reaching the far edges with infinite scroll turned off, where I can hold it in place. I have a screenshot, but I can’t post it yet. It’s on the Lgv20 subreddit though. It also flashes intermittently when I swipe anywhere horizontally. Swiping vertically to open app drawer doesn’t seem to trigger it. It disappears when I’m not touching the screen.
I had Flynx, Amaze browser, Flyperlink, chromer, Link bubble brave (from apks), Trine browser, Hermit, and swipe for facebook downloaded. I’ve since removed them but it’s still there. I’ve tried restarting a few times and ran the smart cleaning. I’ve also tried redownloading the apps, clearing data, force stopping, then uninstalling, but no dice. I’ve gone to the Special access>Draw over other apps section and disabled all third party apps I’ve ever downloaded, and I’ve also restarted Nova a few times. This hasn’t accomplished anything, either.
Other screen overlay apps I have installed include Simple Pie, Status, Directchat Pro, Lastpass, Airdroid, and Screen Filter, but these haven’t caused problems before.
Help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. The flickering is driving me nuts!!

Go into safe mode and see if it still happens. If not, you missed something.

Thanks for the reply. The effect doesn’t occur on LG’s default launchers, even outside of safe mode. Or at least I couldn’t get it to trigger. This is why I suspect this might have something to do with Nova, but I wasn’t sure. I’ll try reinstalling instead of just restarting. I rebooted into safe mode, and the effect wasn’t present, but I couldn’t test Nova.
figured it out. sometime in the process of installing/uninstalling apps and fiddling with the settings of the apps (some of which added icons to the home screen which was locked), some of my nova settings were altered. One setting I saw was that infinity scroll was turned on even though it supposedly isn’t compatible with the nova google now companion. Probably why it was glitching a ton and caused chromer to crash repeatedly when opening links from there (unsure). Some animations were also changed for some reason. I reloaded a nova backup I had and all was well.

[solved] 2 side panels appears since Pie update

Hello,
Since PIE update I have an annoying problem.
2 side bars similar to edge sidebar (when its closed) appears on my screen (see screenshots).
Theese two bars don't have any actions and can't be swiped., but make little vibrate on swipe.
The main problem is the right sidebar is too close of the send button (messages/whatsapp & messenger) and make half of it don't react (and send message on click).
Here is my observations :
- it's shown over all elements (desktop, app list, all applications)
- it's not visible on lock screen
- it don't show up in Android safe mode
I've dig for hours, and try several methods without success :
- reboot (look stupid, but must be said )
- disable the real Edge sidebar
- disable Samsung Pay
- remove autorisations for ALL apps to overlay on other apps (screenshot)
- change default keyboard (with swiftkey & Gboard)
I've turn my display to night theme to highlight these sidebar, but they're still there in day mode.
I'm now out of idea... the fact it don't show up in safe mode would orient me to app issue. But due to overlay settings no apps are supposed to being able to do this (except secure folders that can't be disabled)... I have many apps it would be painful to remove /reinstall them...
Did anyone already faces similar issue?
Any idea on how to fix it, or where to dig for?
Thanks a lot in advance for your feedbacks, any help will be highly appreciated
Benoît
I have the very same problem. By using instragram, I have noticed that I cannot click the like button when the like button is near the white bar. So I am thinking that the white bar shows where the edge of the display is disabled to block "unwanted" touch. I also find it very annoying. Help?
Resolved. Before the Pie update, I have installed here from XDA a package of various apps ported from Pie I think. I had to uninstall the one called something like "one hand +". Once uninstalled, the two bars got removed.
Ohhhh Thanks for your fix !!!!
I've dig around Good lock features yesterday, but forget this one.
Problem solved!

Some apps make screen B+W

I just noticed that some apps, when running in the FG, fade the screen to black and white. Whe these apps are put in the BG the screen fades back to color. Even more weirdly, if I take a screenshot of the screen while it is faded the B+W the image is in full color.
So far I have noticed AFWall+ and Adaway do this. Any idea what is going on? Did I accidentally turn on some obscure setting?

Probably because you added those apps to reading mode (settings - display - reading mode).
