How did you install?
Just something like the old way:rename the old vending, paste the new apk and set permissions?
yah thats all i did i backup up the original via titanium then replaced it with the new one via root explorer, reboot wipe market data (titanium)
try to download and gives me a 404 error?

i'll continue hosting it via drop box for a few more days, if the link is down you can also find a link to the latest market in the latest Honeylicious Rom thread as the OP recently added a download link to it there also. i think it's the Icy Faux thread.

haven't experienced any gameloft issues with new market.
what rom and is it deodex/odex?
if your using a stock rom you will have to delete finsky and finsky.odex. clear cache/dalvik.
Thank you! This is what I came here today looking for. Some how the Rom I am running had a very old 1.0.28 market.
thankyou good sirs, been pulling my hair out over this, just pushed this baby in and now its time for adventures of tintin

Just want to share with you guys..
I finally get the new market to work (no fc anymore) by coincidence, after flashing the new update of cyan for milestone..
Here's what ive done,
first of all, i backup the old market (mine was v1.8) using titanium..
and then i insert the new market to the "gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip" file, by replacing the old market/vending.apk
after flashing cyan, then i flash the gapps file that have been modified before.. the installation worked great..
after that, i tried it.. it's fc as usual.. then when i was going to revert it back to the old market using titanium, theres only data only, i tried that..
amazingly, it the new market worked.. i dont know how, but it worked..
im now downloading apps from the market.. well i hope it'll work for you also..
and so sorry for my bad english.. thx..

Here ya go guys, it's Market v2.2.10. It installed and runs perfectly on my Crackflashers AOSP Gingerbread ROM. It's also fixed some issues where I would have to download something five or six times before it would install.
Parse error. Please post in a zip.

Blackrose, how did you install it?
I tried using Root Explorer to rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk.bak and then installing the file. I rebooted, but started getting FCs. I tried restoring the old Market but ended up needing to NANDroid. I am running Salvage Mod 9.6.
None of these are working.
Tried these and several others found around xda.. apparently its also being pushed to Nexus S. None of them work. Tried copying to /system/app and /data/app None of them in either place works.
Using stock 2.2 3.70 rooted rom.

I'm guessing it's because it was specifically designed for Gingerbread.
You have to push it via ADB..
ex..
adb push yourpathname\com.android.vending-1.apk /data/app
This worked for me.
Try this one. The one in the OP is for Gingerbread

I pushed this one via ADB, and while it opens and things look ok, as soon as I tap on a product I get an FC.
Is there something that needs to be done to initialize it? I did clear all the market settings before trying it.
Solution
Its not really much of a solution, more like an insight.
The reason why no one can install the market is because you flashed a rom without the market, then installed a newer version of gapps. The newer version of gapps assumes you updated and still have the market apk installed. The gapps file only includes the apk to update the market app.
Flash an older copy of gapps and then boot your phone. Run the setup and then flash an updated gapps. You now have the updated market.
Also anyone that was having the home button not working issue, this resolves it. Home button stopped working as a result of the above issue. You may have to install a rooted stock rom and then flash cm 6.1.2 and then your kernel and then the gapps in the above order.

Hi guys! Here is the updated GAPPS.
I will keep this topic updated everytime a new GAPPS is released.
Gingerbread:
GAPPS GB 20120116 - Market 3.4.4
Ice Cream Sandwich:
GAPPS ICS 20120131 - No Facelock - Market 3.4.4 - Car Home
Ice Cream Sandwich GAPPS was stripped down to fit on our small system partition. After flashing CM 9.0 and GAPPS you will have 36kb of space left.
If you are looking for the official, old gapps, you can download the official Goo-inside.me app from the Market to get a direct link for the download.
Here it is: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager
Thank you very much
Thanks glad to see it bundled with the new market.

Anyone else finding the new market, well unreliable? When I got to the website on my pc and install from there, no problem. Yet very often the new market wont even load the landing page, just sits there spinning till I eventually kill it. Before it was nice and fast and I used to do everything from the device, last night I couldnt even get it to load the my apps page.
Thanks, I just install a custom kernel/ROM in my O1 and when I dont see the Android Market I freak out, Google bring me here anyways xD
Thanks for sharing this file.
The new market is really laggy on LG O1.

The latest Market is actually loading really fast.
If you want to have old market you will first have to delete maketupdater.apk from the System.
Then install the market you want.
Give me the Market version you want to have and I will make you a flashable zip of gapps without maketupdater.apk so you can install a new ROM.

Hate to bump an older thread but have a fix for the market. This is not related to the FC issues mentioned in the OP but the Android market may not like your DPI setting if you changed it. I had this issue with Adobe Flash and Where's my Water. To download apps that "are not compatible with your device" just edit your build.prop:
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
After you reboot, clear the market data and cache and you will be able to download your app. You can change your DPI back once your app is downloaded. I've had to do this on my G2 and the Tab.
Kind Regards,
Kevin

Agreed. I haven't found any app incompatible with OC 4.0 or now 4.1.
Although I have no idea how to edit that file (n00b) ....I use LCD Resolution app to the same thing (I think).
try the new update 4.1.0
I would suggest to use Overcome 4.1.0 too. After installing the ROM just apply the Old Market Patch from OC 4.0.0.
It works well for me without any problems with downloading apps. The newer markets are much more restrictive.
works for me that way, too. Thanks!

Nothing to do with the ROM. When you install 4.1.0 (or 4.0.0) it resets whatever you had back to 240. And market works.
LMFAO
I knew it. So none of you have changed DPI *after* installing OC 4.1 and *not* had the market issue.
Therefore the original comments still stand.
Jeez.

Yes, I know all of these browsers, but in Overcome 4.0.0 the native browser is excelent on smoth scrolling, best ever I seen in Android...
I'll try to Wipe and made a fresh installation of 4.1.0 to check if there is really a problem.
Thks.
I'm running Overcome 3.0.1 Jupiter and am trying to wipe to 4.1.0 but I cant unzip the recovery file GB-Stock_Safe-V5. none of the zip apps I'v tried work.
Anybody know what is wrong. I've downloaded that file several times but always from the same source TeamOvercome
I would post this in the development thread but it won't let me as I don't have enough posts.
I installed this rom and I was really impressed with the speed etc but it was running the 3.1 market. I got hold of a 3.5.19.apk and tried to install it but it just said "Application not installed" so I got some ICS gapps and flashed that and now I have the play store but when I open it up it asks me to add a google account, I say yes and it closes and puts me back to the home screen.
How can I make the play store work in this rom?
The ICS gaps won't work in gb, try flashing the latest gapps for gb then it should automatically update to the play store.

I just thought I'd reply to this in case anyone else had this issue at any point. I tried to flash over the GB gapps from the link you sent but it didn't change anything. Same problem. I resigned myself to thinking I'd just have to dealing with using the old market when all of a sudden play instaled itself over the top. So it seems in future wait 24 hours and it should sort itself out.

yeah, if you flash a gapps package that makes it crash you normally have to re-flash the rom and then a new package or just wait for the original to update itself
