That's pretty dam nice progress there, and if only HW codecs were there it'd be useable for me as I don't use GPS, cameras, VPN or HDMI anyways. As soon as HW codecs are there I'll give it a try

I am personally waiting for GPS, that is my deciding factor. We have a mount in the car and use my tablet as the navigation, using a smaller screen is too annoying after using this...
in build v46, Youtube close with FC, when clip is beginning,
flashplayer from market working buggy,
sometimes browser close with FC cuase flash freezing
Can anyone who's using it report what's new and improved about it? On the surface it seems pretty similar to HC.
supported with A501

Hey guys,
I just received a new firmware update since 3.2
build number
HTJ85B.TW_epad-8.6.5.9-20110816
Its still in the process of updating,
waiting to find out what's changed in the new update
anyone else got the update yet?
Oo, its a bundle update, updates the tablet and the dock.
so far I've noticed a few things,
1.the scroll bar that appears while scrolling has changed,
scrolling using it is a bit faster and smoother than before
2. now even when docked, you can choose whether to use the physical keyboard or not, there's a on/off switch in the keyboard
(to me this is kinda weird, why wouldn''t you use the physical keyboard when docked, haha)
3. scrolling with 2 finger using trackpad improved a little bit, it doesn't confuse it with pinch to zoom as easily as before
unfortunately keyboard lag is still there, I guess its not that easy to fix this
anyway, I'll keep digging and see what I can find out
Thanks for the update! Can you check to see if video processing has improved? What about the weird mouse cursor? Did they fix that?
Where are you located? I still have not received an update :-(

can you be more specific in the video processing speed?
if I remember correctly the 720p youtube problem has been fixed already,
let me know what you want me to check and I'll let you know,
the weird mouse cursor? as far as I am concerned its the same as the last update
Mainly MKV files. But I'm assuming at this point it's a HC or Tegra issue.
Is the nagging compass calibration notification eliminated with this update?
just found out now you can choose to use the new finger style cursor or the old pointer, neat
and I don't know if its new but in setting there's a new graph showing whats using the battery
Hi,
Could you upload the zip file ?

I am in China for working but I can receive this OTA when I resume to Taiwan firmware today.
I don't think you can root on a TW firmware as I can never go into recovery mode. Must be the lock bootloader stuff. I got mine back from rma and still on firmware 8.6.5.6 yesterday. Still on OTA.

+1, Can anyone upload the zip file?
Has it cured the wifi problem of constant drop-outs?
Seems like Asus are testing the water with updates, doing them region by region and monitoring feedback from users....
It's a shame they don't have a formal beta program, rather than forcing users in certain regions to be beta testers for the wider audience.
I'm sure there are plenty of technical users in forums like this that would be happy to try out beta releases and feedback useful feedback to Asus....
Perhaps do something like HTC does with individual bootloader unlocks, which you get when you sign up to the "Asus Transformer beta program"....

Just installed through Mobile Odin:
Good:
NO FCs YET!
Wifi data indicators back!
Network mode setting back!
3D effect in launcher!
FM Working again!
XILA2 overscroll glow, more subtle.
Deep sleep works. It always has! Stop asking!
GPS works in maps app and GPS test apps!
Extremely fast GPS lock, even indoors! Extremely unreal of Samsung devices
Quite stable.
Private browsing.
Market works perfectly.
Faceunlock works. *sigh*
USB mode works!
USB host working apparently!
Vibration works well.
Data stats shows individual apps!
Data indicator working!
Helvetica S replaced by Helvetica Neue (used on retina display iPhones).
Bad:
Google widgets still can't be resized.
You have to manually set APN sometimes.
Market FCs when you try to use voice search.
MHL not working.
Ugly:
New samsung animations, similar to GB.
Google Apps logos in notifications bar look distorted and ugly.
Task switching looks weird. See below in screenshots.
Mirrors for those asking:

The LPB kernel on CM9 works great, with the exception of a much longer swipe being required to go from screen to screen.
Edit: should add the GPS module works as it should on LPB as well.

That is truely awesome I Wonder if there are docking stations out that let you connect both å hdmi screen AND a mouse and keyboard?
I love this idea and it is clever of canonical to ride on the back of the success of Android.
But I'm not sure how I would use it. When I use my computer (which has oneric) I also want to able to use my phone separately.
Perhaps a better solution for me would be to have a standard Ubuntu install that gains phone powers when the phone is docked. It would make apps like airdroid obsolete.
I totally see how other people will have a use for this and I hope it's a huge success.
It's great news

If you have the dock w/ hdmi out, just use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse or a keyboard w/ built in trackpad. Then pair up bluetooth headphones in case you get a call so you don't lose your desktop. That'd be the easiest imo.

On Ubuntu we have this requirement:
HDMI: video out with secondary frame buffer device
The Note have this secundary buffer?
Because the HDMI is mirror mode by default.
Anyone with technical knowledge can do a test?
I searched and found this information from another phone:
Primary frame buffer:
/dev/graphics/fb0
Secundary:
/dev/graphics/fb1
Tnks all.
i was thrilled to see this, but would sure love to also occasionally run it while not docked (you know... like a laptop or tablet...). i realize they probably did this due to battery life concerns or something, but hey, why rule it out?
Is our note compatible with this? I do not see a HDMI out!

This is the way it is in 4.2 onward. Google is unifying the look so it functions the same no matter what screen size (like everyone's favorite fruity rounded rectangles). It's Matias Duarte's vision for the UI. Personally, I have no real issues with it, and I'm sure CM or AOKP will bring back the old functionality.
I read somewhere that android 4.2 changes something in the render script. I know that this changes somehow the performance of 3d, does someone knows if this can relate to our egl leak? If yes, how does it affect performance and the random reboots we have been having?

I never heard anything. For the time being I've built the CM10 and ported the AOKP framework.
CM10 is going to final builds soon, and AOKP has already stopped at M1, so once this gets all ironed out there won't really be any changes. Future updates will address bugs only until I can figure out the Git myself and add the Camera.

I had no problems charging as mtp was already checked off from my previous install of JC Sullins' preview CM10. Matter of fact, if you plug into usb, even though it won't connect you can then tap usb connected from notifications and see whether mtp is checked off or not and check if needed.
