N2E stuck - Nook Touch General

I've been using my rooted N2E for about 2 months. Today I go to wake it up, and it didn't want to wake up, just stayed on Walt Whitman's face. Then I try holding down the power button for 20 secs, still nothing. Then I try the power button and 'n' button for 20 secs, still nothing.
Any ideas on what I can do. Best as I can figure I'm left with trying to disassemble the thing that clearly wasn't meant to be taken apart or waiting a month until the battery dies. Thanks

Sorry just ran out of battery Not used to seeing a tablet with an image and zero power.

[Q] SOD? Anyway to reset it?

Seems I've gotten a pretty stubborn one. Can't get it to turn on. Is there anyway to force reset it?
me too... got into a lock screen and not able to push anything. when I push power button the 'do you want to turn off?' screen pops, but I'm not able to click on anything...
EDIT: adb doesn't detect my device, so thats not the way
you can hold the volume button on start up this will wipe all the date,
my gf did this yesterday then left it on the side as if nothing happend...

No, this doesn't solve this problem as reported by numerous people on various forums.
Some people find that letting the battery completely run down and then install charging cable and are able to get screen to start responding again.
Unfortunately, I have the SOD on my second TF that is only 3 days old. My first TF is with Asus being repaired for what I presume was unrelated dark screen issues, but now I'm not so sure the problems aren't related.
I can get my TF to work if I connect the keyboard dock and use the mouse. But screen is still completely unresponsive to touch. Hopefully running the battery down does the trick. Got a video running with screen resolution all the way up to drain the battery quickly.
... I managed to reboot my transformer performing a sort of shamanic dance - I pushed the power button frantically and rotated the tablet so the screen switched from landscape to profile to 180 degrees to 270 and back and after few seconds it rebooted
Success in getting screen to respond again.
Found that letting battery completely drain and then attaching power cable restores touch screen functionality.
While aggravating, a lot better than having to send my second TF to Asus for repair...
My transformer does not boot!
I have had a Transformer for about ten days and right after buying it I successfully updated it to HC 3.1 without a problem. However, four days ago I was reading a review of Samsung Galaxy Tab at the Fox News website through the browser on the tablet and the screen just froze, became completely unresponsive. It was showing the webpage but none of the buttons or links responded. I waited for a few minutes, then turned the device off by pressing the power button for about 10 seconds.
Now, the device refuses to boot. I have tried pressing the power button in all sorts of ways: together with volume down button for 10, 15, 20 seconds; power button alone for 5, 10, 15 seconds; repeatedly pressed power button several times. Nothing worked. The screen is completely blank now. I don't even get the Asus EEE Pad boot up screen. When the tablet went dead, it had about 80% charge, but since it is off now, I don't know how to drain the battery, it could take many days! Any further advice?

Sound like your display is dead on your TF. I had the same issue. I had to connect my TF to my TV to get a display. With the TF connected to my TV I was able to get a picture on the TV, but still no picture on the TF. I also did a factory reset hoping it would resolve the issue but it didnt. I had to send it in to Asus for repair. My TF didnt locked up like yours. I had it on locked mode before leaving work, and then when I got home tried waking it up but it never turned on.

[Q] Vega - soft bricked? No boot mode.

Hi Everyone,
I know its a few threads about how to unbrick Advent Vega and how many threads is that many ideas how to do it.
I was running ViewCOMB 3.2 built 5.1 and everything was ok, but ive installed Rom Manager from Market, and tried other rom (wrong one ).
After reboot nothing is happening, i mean when i press power button for ok 10 sec and then short press again, screen is on black with backlight for about 1 sec and keep coming off.
Ive tried to turn into boot mode (2sec. back + 2 sec. power) about 1000 times already with power cable on and off, but nothing happening.
I have drivers installed on my laptop (had installed custom rom already).
I want to specify a few facts:
Is battery must be charged to full? or should start another try from flat?
If so, how to drain battery if tablet wont power up?
Is better to try with power cable on or off?
Some people saying about holding buttons for a 2 sec, other for 1 sec, what is right?
Any ideas?
Many thanks!
Finally after hours of pressing and holding power + back buttons I've sorted it.
- hold power button for about 10 sec. (to make sure device is off)
- hold back button 2 sec. (don't release)
- press power button till notification sound will come on.
Then had notification sound from Windows about new device connected. On my device list was Nvidia usb boot-recovery device.
Before last try I've charged battery to full (blue light) then disconnected power cable. I couldn't do it with battery full and power cable in (strange).
I think the main hint is to make sure that device is off. Ive noticed that even if screen is off device might be running.
Hopefully this little explanation will help

THAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNKKKKK YYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had the same problem and I thought it was bricked for like, 4ever, so THNX!!!
i had exactly the same problem last night when i asked CWM to do a backup and the screen went black and wouldnt switch on.
one way to tell if it hasnt powered off properly when its stale booting is to look under the black surround between the screen and the camera and you may see a faint blue light. Only viewable with about 5 deg viewing angle (so same as the screen LOL)
i found i could not get it into boot mode at all. No matter how many times i did it. Ending up taking the back off and pulling the battery and then trying again - guess what? Worked straight away first time!!!
I can only presume that when its in this stale boot state it isnt shutting down properly, even if the light is off etc. Although i did come across a post after sorting it that said sometimes it can take a 60 second press of the power button to properly shut it down when its in stale boot.
So now i'm back to standard modded stock rom 2.2 and its horrendous!!!!
Just finished downloading the beta ics rom exe - so gonna whack that on and have a play! Hope its as good as they say it is. If it isnt, then i'll put honeycomb back on.
I think that instead of pulling tha battery out you could also press and hold the power button for 9 seconds, right?

Softkeys question

I have noticed that softkeys keeps losing it's superuser permission and then regaining it, just wondering if this is normal or if there is something I can do to fix it.
Also noticed last night my nook was working perfectly fine, battery was at 80%. Was in class and let it sit for awhile, went to use it and would not come on, hit every button combo I could to try and start it. Let it sit for a little bit and came back on fine.
Just tried using my nook just now and will not turn on again. Even have it plugged in now but it was at 60% last night.
Hold the power button for 15 seconds... release... hold it about 3 seconds and see if it turns on...
If that doesn't work... hold for 30 seconds... release... hold about 3.

N10 won't boot

I've had my Nexus 10 for about 2 months. I'm running PA3 and haven't had any major issues until now.
Last night I plugged my tablet in. This morning it wouldn't boot.
When it's not plugged in nothing happens (the screen is always black) when I:
- Press the power button
- Long press the power button (tried many times over 2 minutes)
- Hold the power, vol up, and vol down (also tried different amounts of time for up to 2+ minutes)
When it's plugged in to the factory charger:
- Nothing happens when I press the power button
- If I long press the power button the battery icon with the lightning bolt comes up. The icon is fully white like when it's off and fully charged and you tap the power button.
- If I keep long pressing the power button (different intervals for over 2+ minutes) or long pressing all 3 buttons for the same lengths if time, I see the same full battery lightning bolt icon.
It takes roughly 7 seconds to appear, displays for 1-2 seconds, then disappears. This cycle continues as long as I'm holding down any combination of the above buttons.
That's all I can get it to do. It never seems like its attempting to boot, show any other icons, or or get into recovery / bootloader mode.
I called Google, and they walked me through the same steps. Then they told me to call Samsung because I bought the tablet through Staples so they refused to service mine.
I called Samsung at 888-987-4357. I got transferred 11 times. Nobody knew what a Nexus 10 was. They asked me to pull out the battery and read them the barcode and serial number from the back of the device. They also asked me to go into settings and get the IMEI number (which I can't do since it won't boot).
After an hour and a half on the phone with 11 people at Samsung I was told that they couldn't help me without an IMEI number and a model number.
I suppose this info might be on the box it came in. I'm on vacation in Texas so I don't have access to it.
Does anybody have any advice or suggestions, or do I have a $550 brick?
Thanks in advance.

If Staples won't replace it you will have to RMA it through Samsung. You have done all you can. 'It's dead Jim.'

I would try the Wug Fresh N10 toolkit and use the option that the device won't boot. This saved my galaxy nexus several times. Good Luck!
A tip that I see posted on this topic is to try using a different charger/cable combo. (Let it sit on the alternate charging set up for a little while, then try booting it up.) I think the logic is that the slightly different voltages "knock it loose". Couldnt hurt to try...
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll give them a shot tonight when I get home.
My only issue with RMA'ing through Samsung is that they won't do a damn thing for me until I give them the model number (which isn't Nexus 10 BTW) and barcode from underneath the battery.
(-_-)
They have no clue.

Now that I'm home I realized that the charger I was using was in fact not the OEM charger. I plugged it into that and it finally booted. :victory:
Once it finally booted up it showed charging and that the battery was at 0%. So the problem was that the battery was completely dead, but it wouldn't charge for whatever reason.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I appreciate it.

N7 won't turn on. I get some faint "snow" when trying to charge

My 14th month old N7 (out of warranty ) has run into some issues. I left it alone for a few days and the battery ran out. Nothing completely out of the usual, happens from time to time. I picked it up, plugged it into the Asus charger, white battery logo came up, i then turned it on.. Google logo. I then set it down.
Came back to it about an hour later and it was off. I tried turning it on while still plugged in, notthing. I unplugged and tried turning it on, nothing. I try my HTC One charger, nothing. Tried plugging it into a USB port on one of my computers, nothing. I read the sticky thread and tried all of the recommended items. Re-seated my battery connector, nothing. I realized that when i tried turning it on, i'd get a faint flicker / 'snow' like affect, like the screen was trying to turn on, but something was wrong. I tried holding the power button for over a minute, nothing. Tried vol down+power for 60 seconds, nothing.
I would search, but im getting a message that it's down.
Any thoughts?
I'm running Slim Rom (4.3) + M Kernel. I hadn't flashed or done anything out of the ordinary in weeks.

happened on mine the other day its a low battery problem, let it charge for 30mins or so, hold power down for like 30 seconds, let go and repress power button, should boot as norm.
seems if the batt completly runs down it sorta needs a jump start from charger to get goin again
I've tried this multiple times. I was thinking along the same lines. I'll keep trying this. But so far no dice. Thanks for the reply.

ok try holding the power button down for a while , does the screen light up? if yes wait and when it turns off again try rebooting as from fresh.
if no re-try and re-try again if no luck. im at a loss, other then trying with / without charger plugged.
edit: on that thought , charge 30 mins hold power button screen lights up no detail/image, hold power ,screen goes off, charge from charger should progress ( press power momentarily and see battery charging icon, screen goes off. wait another 30mins, boot as norm.

When i hold the power button (i mention i hold it for 60 seconds at least, i literally timed it). i get flickering snow, nothing visible. but the screen turns on and i see some faint snow.
The rest of what you wrote i've tried numerous times in different configurations. charging for 30 mins, not charging, plugged in, not plugged, etc. so far i have not seen any icons or anything. The only sign of life is the flickering screen with faint snow.

It's a long shot but still: try leaving it alone for couple of days (3 for example), completely alone, don't touch it, after few days, plug it in and leave it alone, after an hour or two try turning it on.
I've had such experience with some old iPod, it died, but came back to life a month later when I tried to play with it again.
We have a sticky for this, at the top of the Troubleshooting page.

Hope this helps.
