here's a mount I made for the htc Evo, I bought a $20 Telescope for my 4 yr old son and we were in the backyard looking at the moon and Jupiter which for $20 that's about all you get lol I decided after years of attempting to get the perfect moon shot with my phone and always getting that stupid tiny pin hole sized dot of white light no matter how big the moon looked,it would be a good idea to try it now that I have a telescope or more like just wanted to see what would happen.
and low and behold I got this

so after 2 days of thinking of ways to attach my phone to the telescope I had a Jimmy Neutron brain blast and I came up with this by the way it took less than 5 minutes to construct I do this impromptu kinda of building a lot I call it Slap construction I created this with a milk jug cap, a $3 htc evo clip together case, and a small bit of a u-glue strip I wanted to make it so it would attach and detach easily so I melted the inside edges of the milk cap to furl in making a lip to clip over the lip on the telescope lens and after 30 secs with the lighter it shrank and rolled in, then I cut the center out, clipped a piece of a U-Glue strip and stretched it around the edge then I place it on the lens and centered the cases camera hole to the lens then pressed it then I put in my evo and tested it works pretty well and its centered instead of bouncing around that moon pic took 7 tries before I got a decent shot.
WOW! very cool!
That's awesome! Unlocking even more capabilities. The 8mp camera is one of my favorite things about my Evo

I have had my Cingular 8525 since November and I love it. I live in Baltimore, MD and it has been cold and extremely windy here lately. Well I got out of my car and went to get something out of the passenger side door. When closing the door I had the phone in my hand. Suddenly a huge gust of wind comes and the phone goes flying out of my hand, slides 8 feet down the curb and into the sewer!!!! I can't believe it!! I was shocked. It was almost like somebody had it hooked on a fishing line and reeled it in.
Luckily it hadn't rained in a few days and the gutter was like 5 feet deep. I tried so many ways of getting it out, including using two mop handles like chopsticks, trying to catch it with tape, and trying to get it into a plastic bag. Eventually I taped a small gift bag to the end of one of the mopsticks and knocked it into the giftbag then pulled it up. After an hour and a half of blistering cold work i have my scratched up 8525 back. Only problem is that my micro SD card came out!!!!!
A lot of people have had success avoiding these issues by removing the sail that comes standard on some of the hermes.
Seriously though, the wind blew it out of your hand, 8 feet away?!
Yes. I hate parking near it so I thought I was okay since it was so far away. It was almost like a practical joke.

ROFLMAO!
Funniest thing ever. Very unfortunate for you tho. You should get a strap that hooks into the port opposite of the stylus and strap it to your belt or on your wrist whenever you have it. I always do and its prevented many accidents! They are cheap to.
I find it's best to keep my 8525 securely chained to the side of my head. In my car, I use a big magnet to affix it to the side of the car. Hasn't gone anywhere yet.
lol I know this might sound so stupid but I wont walk over sewers without holding my pockets inconspicuously...never mind me walking over them when Im on my phone.
I also wont talk on the phone next to the window of a car...Im afriad it will slip out or Ill have the inclination to throw it
haha
So, I was bored tonight, and I had some 3M Di-Noc vinyl laying around. Here's what I did:

It's totally removable (doesn't leave residue behind), but I think it came out pretty well. The cutouts for the speaker and flash aren't nearly as noticeable in real life.
That's pretty good.

it looks really good, personally I would have changed the light and speaker holes and not cut out the HTC
Freaking Awesome! I would defiantly get that case for my phone.... love it dude. Give info if u ever plan on actually selling or wanting sum1 to try it out... let me know!

wow this looks amazing! you should sell these, or at least do a tutorial! I'd love to do this to my Evo.
I like the look, but not as much as the carbon fiber. Also, if you have some left over, I think it'd look a lot better without the blocky holes cut out.
Perhaps follow my diy, if you'd like.

I don't like the poked out speaker hole look, but with I should've done the LEDs like you did yours (and like I did my original one).
This is the first one I did (white carbon fiber) a while back:
http://androidforums.com/accessories-evo-4g/92653-evo-white-carbon-fiber-back-pics.html
On ^ that one, I didn't bother doing the speaker holes because I didn't like the look of the white, and I took it off right after taking those pics.
I also have a lighter woodgrain one that I'm going to try to see what it looks like. The samples I'm using were all free, and I should be getting some more in the mail soon.

Cool thanks.
and it even went down $10 lol
I asked the same exact question to Sprint and they basicly told me it's because they have too many issues with slider phones. I'm starting to think that phones with slide outs are more prone to break in many ways.

Yes they are more prone to breakage if not engineered, and built with the correct materials. Perfect examples of this were the Touch Pro, and the Touch Pro2. The TP broke the damm Flex Cable usually after only a few months of usage. Then there was also the Slider that became loose and wobbly after about a year. The TP2 corrected both of these. But not perfectly at first. The first thing they did better on the TP2 was make a way beefier Slider mechanism. Actually a stamped steel piece, vs the cheap pot metal used on the Original TP. They also laminated the Flex Cable. The one on the original was just a thin plastic film over it. But even laminated the Cable would wear. So what they did on the Final run of the TP2 was actually coat the Cables in a sort of rubber. Which made them almost unbreakable, almost. Thing is the cost was too much. On the Shift they used the same kind of stamped steel slider, very sturdy. But then used a pot metal tray ( weak ). So that is the weak point of the Slider, why it gets loose after a while. The Cable is another not so great thing. Same lame thin plastic film over it. I was actually thinking of maybe the next time I replace one. Coating it first with a Rubber laminate at the spot where it see the most wear. Because out of all the ones I've repaired it is usually the same spot. Or within a 1/4" either way.
Well, I fell snowboarding the other day with my phone in a chest pocket. I caught an edge and sandwiched my hand between my body and some ice. Needless to say I broke my hand and completely bent my phone but miraculously my screen didn't break, so at least I have that going for me which is nice.
Kind of sucks because HTCS 6 month manufacturing warranty only covers cracked screens, fml
Here are some pictures, I figured somewhere here might enjoy this.

Hope you have a speedy recovery!
Htc One wave (tm)
On a serious note that should be easily fixed just by replacing the case. That is if everything works fine inside
I got pain on the chest by looking at those pictures.
Hope you can fix it soon.
Yeah, ordering a new backside should be the cheapest way. Replacing it is not hard - all you need is a bit of patience and a source of heat. Order the top and bottom of the front aswell, those are bastards to remove and replace properly - other then that it sounds more dramatic then it is.
remove tops and bottom, heat and remove back side (there is guides on youtube/interwebz). The internals and screen is the expensive parts and those should still be allright for you.
Yea I've thought about replacing the case., I was able to bend it slightly back into place which makes it at least fit in the case again.
Everything works, for now. The only problem I've noticed is two bright spots in the center of the screen most likely from something pushing on the backlight. It's only noticable when looking at dark content which I can lI've with.
I must say HTC did a pretty damn good job engineering this phone :good:
if HTC-LG have a baby...this is the HTC G-flex
@popwarfour At least you managed to answer the question. "HTC One M8 - Does it bend?"
Hope your hand recovers okay.
I actually bent mine as well somehow and I sent it into htc for repair, they fixed it and didn't charge me anything for it. I can't even tell it was even bent. Mine was not as severe as that though.
Been wanting the colored X on the back of my phone and missed out when dbrands did the colored cut outs, and had parts of my X starting to peel off, so decided there's no better time to figure out how to color the X. Picked off the X and initially I was going to use the Testors brand of model paint. Got all the colors and got silver too so I could pick of the rest of the letters and do them as well. Along with the model paint I got some small syringes and some tiny craft needles and was going to put the paint in the grooves with the needle. Problem is, the paint in the syringe had a very tiny constant drip. The drip was slow, but too fast to get into each groove without getting some on the outside. I only managed to get the straight up and down part of the N done and had go another route. Watched a YouTube video of a guy that was coloring his Nexus 7 tablet and he had Sharpie Paint Pens. Never knew they had such an item. In his video he got pens with tips that were just a bit too big, he even says it in the video. I found a pack of pens on Amazon that had all the colors I needed with a fine tip on it. Works perfect! Here's some pics of the process, and links to get the pens to do it yourself. In the pics, it's just one layer of paint. I'm going to do more the next couple days as it dries, and then a touch of clean up if needed. The purple phone is my mom's phone. She wanted the X colored on her's too.

Purple glitter? Whatever gets your compass to point in the right direction. Anyway, good work on the letters.
Purple is OP's mom's phone.

I guess that if you put over a dbrand skin, it'll cover the imperfections. Also dbrand includes an "M" sticker so you could choose it white and it would do a perfect match.
I'll post another pic tomorrow. Looks much better with a second layer of paint and the spots that are just outside the lines on a couple parts in the first pics is gone. Comes off easy.
NICE!! I've been looking for a way to get this done. I have a dbrandz skin with only the X showing. might have to tape it off or something though cause it's already installed and it's white.
Even if I don't like the purple glow that much, it's really nice work.
Looks cooool...
Niiiiizzzzee!!
