[Q] What happened to Netflix? It worked fine, now kaput! - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It said I needed a "new version" and won't play..go to download the thing, and now says it cannot be used with my nook.
What in the world happened?
I am running cyanogenmod from 16gb class 10 SD and never had an issue, until now, with anything..

Got the same message on both my NCs. I updated and both log in to Netfix and play movies fine. Love the new format. I am running CM7.1 on 32gb SD and internal emmc with a 16gb SD. Try to uninstall and reinstall.

OK..when I get home I will try and uninstall the app and then go again. This will be the first time I ever tried to uninstall anything on my NC..
Thank you very much!

There are two ways to uninstall apps. If app was added from google market, open market and select "my apps" from the menu. Select the app from the list and your options will be open/updated and uninstall. Click uninstall. The other way is through "manage applications" in settings.

yes..I figured it out! YAY..! I did something right! hahaha
Thank you very much for the help..Netflix is once again working perfectly.
Now to find a replacement for Netflix..I hear that Starz is leaving at the end of the year..I am afraid that will do it for me as that seems to be the only movies I watch on Netflix..

[Q] Can't install some apps. "Unknown Reason -18"

Sometimes when I try to install a game or an app it won't let me. it says that the installation was unsuccessful, "unknown reason -18" and that's it. I googled around and didn't find a solution.
All I can tell for sure is that it's probably because the app is trying to install on the sd card, but how do you disable that.
unmount sd card first then go back and try again
yea just did that. lol after a week of looking for an answer i post the question on xda and find the answer myself one minute late...

no biggie
Here's one solution that worked for me:
I installed Android Market 3.0.27 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166152
I cleared the market cash and Google services framework data as per the steps described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893538
Then the trick that did it was to disable app2SD under settings/applications.
I still am missing some apps in the market (Skype, Facebook, Google Maps, etc.) but at least I can install them from apk files now.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

Market Empty after Titanium Restore

Hey all,
Ive restored apps when flashing roms a few times with TB and never had an issue. THis last time though, the market does not show all my installed apps that were just restored, only the ones i have installed on the rom myself.
Is there anyway that i can restore this list. Its funny because when i search an app i have, it will display as INSTALLED, but the DOWNLOAD tab will not show it.
I already tried clearing the cache for the market.
Any ideas?
I have noticed I often have that problem if I restore my applications before running the market at least once. Also, you could try killing the market and restarting it to see if the download list repopulates.

Thanks for the quick response, but i have tried that multiple times, and even the market doctor in TB. no luck...
my question is does the market prompt or notify you of updates if it is not in the DOWNLOADS section? or do i just have to uninstall then install from market for it to show up which would be a pain!

[Q] Download Unsucesful? Manual Nooter 4.5.6

So.....the main page says that the Download Unsuccesful has been fixed as of 4.5.6.
It's so obviously NOT fixed. I've tried doing the whole SD card thing. I managed to get a few apps downloaded and installed the first day....after that NOTHING will install from the market. It ALL says download unsucessful.
So what am I doing wrong? I don't have a PC that I can install an ADB on at the moment, that'll come in a week or so. But I would like to know what everyone else is doing to keep it working.
Having no problems on two of them here. Try the market visibility fix anyway and make sure that you can connect to google talk (the market needs that).
Tried Google Talk, that worked just fine...and I had already done the Market visablity fix, and that didn't work either.
I just don't get it.

What happens if I re-root? Would it mess my installed apps or are there any risks?
I already have ROM manager installed on my manual nooted 1.2. Can I boot to CWM from there and re-root?
The odd thi g is now Im getting some apps to install. A winzip type app and ezPDF both installed from the market.
Does it have to do with installing ON the SD card?

What do you mean by installing "ON" the SD Card?
I meant the app being installed ON the SD Card instead of the main memory.

Edit your build.prop and change the screen density to 160.
I have the exact same issue and have tried all the "solutions" I have found, nothing so far helps.
I'm running of an SD, CM7 nightly from August 28, one of the later kernels.
Everything works fine except this #$%^$ market.
Ideas?
Since none of my apps seem to be affected by screen density I simply uninstalled the marker updater app and kept the old market. If you are already on the new market. Uninstall the updater app first and then go into the applications settings for the market and uninstall the last update. Clear the data and cache as well.

Can you direct me to what needs to be changed in build.prop? Thanks.
There should be a line that says
Code:
qemu.sf.lcd_density=161
Just change the number to 160.
I did that, thought there might have been some other line to be edited there that they weren't mentioning. Thanks.

Start up the Terminal. Become Superuser by typing "su" and return.
Remount /system as read/write by typing:
mount -o remount,rw /system
Edit /system/build.prop and change qemu.sf.lcd_density=161 to be 160.
Then go to Applications, force-close Market and clear all its data (but do not uninstall).
Then reboot.
If this still did not work, search the Internet for the latest Google Apps zip from August, 2011. If you have Rom Manager it's the newest one listed under "Download ROM...Google Apps" window. It's even newer than what is offered on download sites that have Phiremod or CM 1.7 RC.
When Market first starts it might ask you to install a list of apps. Choose a couple of them. I've observed that Market will then automatically upgrade itself again when I do this. I've been using the newest Market app with the 160 DPI setting for about a week now and it has never stopped working. I suspect that it might be the newest Google Apps that fixes some of the magic.
Note that some things, like the on-screen keyboard, have letters that are too large due to this setting. It's really supposed to be set to 170 DPI but 160 DPI is the setting that makes the Market app work again.

I don't see how to uninstall the market updater. It doesn't have the option in "manage applications" to uninstall it, and it doesn't show up in astro. How can I get rid of it?

Thanks. I did finally see it there after I installed Root Explorer. Having access to everything on the NC, it makes me want to root my phone.
This is probably the same problem I have experienced.
Yesterday I install CM7 bootable to a new SD card I just bought. After everything installed, I found that several essential google apps, like maps, youtube, are not able to install. Market complains that my device is not compatible.
However, these apps run properly in my old SD card. The Market from the old card has been updated, and it seems it's working properly as well. I'll check the DPI setting on both card. I don't think they are different because I installed both card through the same build.
Question: how to clone the entire old card to my new card? They are from different brand, old Kingston and new Sandisk. I've used WinImage32 to clone the Kingston to the Sandisk, but it doesn't boot at all.

cant reinstall Google Search

Hi, I've got a problem I cant fix.
I wanted to downgrade Google Search so I uninstalled updates and it went back to stock. I then installed the version I wanted. v3.1
Now, this is my problem. I DONT want it to show in Google Play as an update so I tried to make a updated APK like I have with many other apps where I like older versions.
Now I used Lucky Patcher and that didn't like making the modded APK but it did back a backup. So I clicked RESTORE BACKUP. and guess what? It deleted the app instead of restoring it.
Now when I try to install it from either any APK or even directly from Google Play it keeps saying the device is full and fails to install.
I have over 1GB free. I've deleted about 10 apps and still keeps saying device is full. I've reinstalled those 10 apps and they fit and install without problems and I still have over 1GB free.
HOW do i get Google Search reinstalled? I dont want to reflash it as I will loose ROOT and that was a big enough ***** to install the first time.
I have a stock recovery menu. Rooted Galaxy S4 i9505 4.3 official firmware.
I did delete delvik cache and the cache in recovery menu.
I cant find any other ways to restore it? I tried titanium backup with the backup I have of it but that never ends when I click restore. It doesn't finish, doesn't do anything just sits there saying its restoring but never stops still I kill it even after 30 mins it was still restoring.
Anyone??
I did try Titanium Backup and made a update.zip and that fails both from SDCARD and ADB as its not signed and its stock recovery.
Do I have to install a custom recovery? Can I use the one I used with 4.2.2 or do I have to get a 4.3 version? That was i9505-cwm-recovery-6.0.3.2-4.tar
Anyone?
I'm stumped. I dont have a clue whats going on and why it wont install and why its saying its full when its got 1GB free.

Thanks for the reply.
Was hoping not to do that.
BUT, everything still works without it anyway and as it stole the use of my Bluetooth button it wont be missed but I do like the Google Now alerts.
What happened with me was the latest few versions stole the link to the bluetooth button. Before when you pressed the button you had the option of S-Voice or Google Search and now the newer versions dont have that option and always use Google Search and you have no way to revert back to S-Voice. I had Google Search disabled for a while but I want to use Google Now so I need the app but not the new version so an old version works fine. I think the last is 3.1? I didn't try 3.2 but I know 3.4 has that forced Google Search now.

I got it installed and fixed a few other apps at the same time.
I went to root /data/data and found the google search was a 0kb file so I deleted it and it installed fine after that. I also had a few other apps that were playing up so I deleted those folders and they now install and work fine.
So in the end no need to reflash just remove the corrupt files and its all fixed.
I did find out Google Search 3.3 is the last of the good versions, 3.4 is when it steals your bluetooth's connection and uses it for its own without letting you choose default.
As S-Voice is a Samsung feature those not with a Samsung phone wont care but those like me that use S-Voice will be annoyed that the latest Google Search removes the choice. I recommend to disable so it goes back to default version then get v3.3 and install that and use an app to remove it from updating in Google Play then all will be good.
it's solved right?
but anyway maybe you could try to flash gapps . Don't now if it will works but i good to try anyway ;D

When uninstalling on stock, you only delete apk file. You have also to delete corresponding odex odex file in system/
Then, you have to remove also corresponding folder in system/data/data
Then, you can try to reinstall the app.

I fixed it. There was a corrupt file in /data/data and as soon as I deleted it, it finally installed fine after that.
Now trying to stop Google Play from upgrading and also removing it from the update list is another problem.

I do that and it doesn't work with Titanium Backup.
I want to remove it completely so it doesnt even see it in the Google play store.
In Titanium Backup you can remove it from Google Play but that option doesn't work as I've had it removed twice and its updated both times.
So far its working. I've turned it into a user app and removed it from the store and its not updated yet but I will give it till tomorrow and if it auto updated like the last 2 times I will just uninstall it again and not use it. Its more trouble than its worth anyway.

I want it installed, I want to use Google Now but I don't want to update to the bad version and I don't want Google Play to keep telling me there is an update so I want it removed from Google Play.
As I said Titanium Backup does have a "Detach from Market" option which does remove it but after a few hours it updates anyway so that option doesn't work.
When you make a custom APK it's not seen in the Market so that works but Google Search doesn't work when you customise the APK.

I've unticked that box so Google Search won't auto update but it's still in the update list and it still gives notifications that it needs to be updated.
It needs to be removed from Google Play, that's the only way to stop it from updating or asking to update and it's the only app I can't customise that I've tried. I've modded many apps and they work and they are removed from Google Play but this one I can't.
I also want other apps to auto update so I dont want to turn that option off.

YES YOU CAN.
Just install Market Fixer and that removed it. But it does sometimes show up after a reboot. I rebooted twice and it showed up the first time but not the 2nd time.
So it looks like I've fixed the problem.
Titanium Backup's 'Detach from Market' doesn't work but Market Fixer does the same thing and that does work.
The problem I think is its a system app, its used by my Google account, its used by half the system so its not easy to hide from the App Store. As other apps aren't used the same way they are easily hidden but Google Search isn't.
