I ran into this website and i cant stop using for everything....... it called filecrop.com.
You can download anything from Rom files for games to Odin. Just an overall great website with megaupload, rapidshare, and hotfile links.
I prefer filestube, but file crop does come in handy in certain occasions

Don't know why it some times says that but I've had that happen to me before but just go ahead and download it anyways. U shouldn't have a problem. I never have.
It will not download. It automatically stops the download and on my notifications bar it says download unsuccessful??

Anyone? Im still facing this issues.
Sounds like it's trying to open the file, rather than just save it, and it can't find an associate program to open it with... try a different browser, like Dolphin HD instead of stock, and see if that will let you download the file and actually save it rather than trying to open it.
Is there any way to get rid of this restriction with the zip files and other files as well.

Hi,
I don't know of a native method of removing that restriction, but the free app Byte Tornado downloader integrates with the browser and allows almost any file to download directly to the phone.
I hope that helps.

download Astro from the market or appbrain then you can download zip files and extract the apk files from the zip. It's also a great utility app to manage files and backup applications.
I use opera browser to download files. It how's never given me any problems.

Sadly the stock browser restricts a lot of downloads: .zips (and many .apk's if not all).
Probably there to "protect" itself.
But any third party web browser
(Dolphin HD or Opera) can do those kinds of files.
That is if you don't wish to use a download manager app.
Hope this helped someone!
I download using giganews on my PC, is there an app to do same on Android?

Probably not. And if there are download speeds are probably **** with crazy unrar times. There are however apps to control download programs like sabnzbd+.

Actually, you need NewzDroid, Newzbin2Search and Unrar Pro.
Newzdroid is the binary downloader that needs a NZB file.
Newzbin2Search provides the NZB file but you need an account at Newzbin
Unrar Pro unrars the files you download.
Good luck
Hey guys.
In the past on my S1 I downloaded more custom roms than I could count. Since the phone is always on me I follow xda (using the xda app) on it pretty much all the time.
When I find a rom that I'm interested in I click the link, the file downloads to the SD card and I flash with CWM. Never really had any problems.
However, on the S2 it pretty much fails all the time. The download never gets to the end before it restarts again.
I know its not a connection issue (I'm on a stable wifi connection) and when downloading I set wifi sleep to 'never'.
Only work-around has been to download on the PC and transfer to the phone for flashing which is not always convenient.
Any help / advice is appreciated.

I always download the CM ROM directly to my phone via wifi or 3G, and it never failed
Grab "Download All Files" from the market. That will allow to download any type of file from the browser (should also work with the XDA app)

Thanks for the tip. Just downloaded it and tried downloading again from xda and the browser but the download just starts the old way, with the built-in manager.
Tried to download the 'official' MIUI for 4 hours last night but still no success. The file is only 90mb. Got to about 90% at one stage before it failed and restarted again.
It's really pis*ing me off!

sorry, edited
A couple weeks ago, hotfile had this option to upload the file to a cloud service. So I signed up and transfered the Bell file to my 'cloud' and downloaded it through there at my max speed.
Just my $0.02
