[Q]Ringer silenced? - Kindle Fire General

So I started up my KFire to play some FFVII, and noticed there was a ringer silenced icon up in the top right. That's definitely new. Anyone else have this icon appear, and if so what did you do to make it go away.
Running the 6.2 update, GO Launcher EX

Well I make it appear cause I hate it making noise when I'm in class. They way to control it is either if you have beautiful widgets use the silent widget to toggle it or download a silent toggle widget from market I hope this helps

Volume button doesn't go to silent?

Anyone else lacking the feature to go from vibrate to silent by pressing the volume down button? This is after the 2.2 update. Also, if anyone has a fix for removing the slide lockscreen before pattern lockscreen, that would be helpful.
In 2.2 u have to option for either silent or vibrate. U can pick which one under settings>sound>vibrate

I agree, I find the lack of it now very annoying. Sometimes I like to have my phone on vibrate (like at work), and sometimes I want it completely silent (like while I'm asleep). This seems like a pointless change.
Check out Volume Toggle (Free) on the market. I use a widget to change my sound profiles. When I go to bed I use Night Watch to restrict sounds. When you plug it in between certain hours it will auto start for you if you want.
Glad I found this I was afraid I messed something up lol
This is pretty unbelievable to me, why they would do that.
Either way, you could try the link in my sig... my volume control app allows you to go into silent or vib. It's pretty nooby though.
Hate it also, i use dazzle widget. Has a toggle for vibrate or silent.

curvefish has one too. nice toggle widget.
Thanks, I've been looking for something like these for the last couple days, I'll check out the various apps you guys mentioned.
Edit: Actually, I just realized that you get a similar widget with Weather and Toggle Widgets. You can toggle between On, Vibrate, and Silent, it's just what I was looking for.

This only happens when I unlock or wake up my phone.. once you touch the screen it goes away.

What fun is that if you have cool widgets lol... just messing with ya
Well actually, I stand corrected. Holding the top button will only set vibrate now. But, speaking of cool widgets, try widgetlocker! There is a slide that will completely silence or vibrate all from the lock screen. I know this isn't a true fix to what they screwed up but it is an all around better lock screen. $1.99 is well worth it.

HideBar now works on ICS

The program HideBar (http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/) works on our transformers with ICS!
HideBar allows to hide the systembar. This can be done from the notification area. To show the systembar again, one can swipe from the bottom (or from both bottom and top, this is a setting). It is possible to start HideBar at boot, and it is even possible to run in a kiosk mode!
Thanks for the good news but they said it removes the wallpapper? The fix is to use a live (animated?) wallpaper. Is it impacting the CPU and power consumption?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
It kills a process in systemUI which also controls the wallpaper
The work around is to use a live wallpaper since that is a separate process, hence not killed. So you get wallpaper wizardry (think I got the name right) which is a live wallpaper app that displays one static image. Appearance wise it seems like you just have a normal wallpaper picture.
I know because I've followed this issue for the app Gesture Control. It's got a thread here at XDA. One of the things you can have it do based on a gesture is hide/show the bar. Implemented the same as hide bar, killing the process or starting it so it has the same problem.

Sounds cool, but since it removes the wallpaper I'll stick with the option integrated into the ROMs :-D

Quick window doesn't work

As always, I got a new phone and raced to root and debloat. From there I started looking at cool things the phone will do and remembered the quick window feature. I dont have the case yet, so I just used a magnet to activate it. The quick window just shows up black with three dots below. Anyone have an idea of what I might have frozen or uninstalled that is required for the quick window to display actual information?
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda premium
Well, I guess through trial and error, I figured it out.
Just incase anyone else was wondering:
Music 4.2.5 ( used display the widget, continues to work just says "can't display widget" on the quickwindow)
Music 4.1.11 (won't play music unless installed)
Clock Widget (digital/analog clocks)
Weather 4.1.8.1 and Weather Theme 4.1.8.1
My assumption, but not through testing is that you could remove any of these if desired, it would just say tat it can't display the widget for that page.
Sure would be nice to replace these, I personally use Google play music so don't really have a desire for another music app on the phone, but at least I can hide the icons.

[Q] XGels Settings Dock Icons (CM-11)

Hi All,
After making various changes to my homescreen my dock icons are constantly stuck in "toggle" mode and therefore disappears no matter what settings I choose, this via the XGels settings which appear to solve the problem but clearly do not..!? I may have missed something rather than a fault with XGels...?! How can I get my dock to stay visible on my homescreen again.?
Thanks in advance...
Are you sure you didn't check "Hide dock" or "Hide icon dock"?
Yes positive. The Dev is looking into it as he is aware the CM11 Rom I'm using is still in 'Nightly' mode, which by Trebuchet Launcher constantly crashing, is testament to that.
But XGels is also new..! So I thought I'd send out a feeler as you see if anyone else is having the same trouble. This to see if they have found solutions. So far, by disabling infinite app dock page rotation, Trebuchet doesn't crash half as much..!
Also, where I used to long press to insert widgets, and Trebuchet would crash..! Disabling some dock functions has put an end to that to a degree..! Albeit, I can only have no more than five pages of widgets regardless of the dock setting's, and Trebuchet goes again..!

Play Store launchers ?

I'm on the new Joying 2GB RAM, Intel unit, 8 inch double din. Sometimes I find the Joying default launcher boring. I wish I could get the KLD Launcher to work on it, but I'm not sure how. So I tried a few from the Play Store.
I used Nova, but it keeps the Dock on the right hand side, instead of putting it at the bottom. Even if you try to force Landscape it keeps it on the right hand side.
I tried a bunch, but I think I found my favorite:

How did you get the app drawer icon on the bottom like that?
put your finger on the app drawer's icon (which appears often on the dock (right side) )you keep your finger on it, and slide it to the bottom of the desk .

I figured it out. Leave the dock on, just get rid of the platform, then you can pull it out. If you turn the Dock off entirely the App icon disappeared
Now I need a good clock and weather widget, basically just trying to recreate the KLD launcher

You can create a 'shortcut' or widget to any of the Nova actions (Including open app drawer) on the homescreen.
You can disable the dock, and create an app drawer icon to go anywhere.
Personally, I don't use the app drawer icon. I change Nova's button behavior so that when I press home it opens the app drawer. Look in the settings in Nova. TONS of ways to customize this to your use.
I cant seem to get Widgets to work on any of these launchers. Let me correct that, I can't get a large widget to work, like the clock or whatever. If I put a shortcut, like a playlist in Google Play Music, it works fine. If I try to put on something simple like the Clock widget, it just says no more room on the screen
I have a problem when using nova launcher.
Everytime I set it up and arrange everything the way I like it. After I restart my unit I end up with blank screen tiles (no apps, app drawer, nothing). Which almost had me stuck there since there is no way to access the settings to uninstall nova launcher. But I figured out how to open the GPS with the hardware buttons. That lets me get to the downloaded apps, after I uninstall nova launcher the problem is gone.
Not sure why this happens. But I would like to change the launcher because the stock launcher is kind of boring.
Has anyone tried this Car Launcher Pro? It is made for these units, and has trial version too. I think I'm going with that when I receive my new unit.
Sorry, can't post link here yet.
Looks cool!

I never got it from the Play Store, at one point it was built into Malaysk ROM, but I didn't like the layout
