I've been a proud HD2 owner for about 2 years, about half of that was with android and it never ceased to amaze me
however I decided it's time to get into the realm of dual-cores and got myself a samsung GSII
I'll really miss my beloved HD2...
Will you be selling your HD2?

lol u're right it was a loyal companion and IMO, still the best phone out there
I just bought my replacement today,,, an 'as new' hd2, one lady owner who couldnt get a signal in her office, so hardly used it, hehe.. ahhhhhh
I can live without dual core for a while longer yet, then pick up a cheap ss note next christmas.
Had my HD2 for a year now..best phone I've ever owned! Other phones from two years ago have come and gone but the old faithful HD2 is still going strong..
enjoy your new toy!
I am still waiting to upgrade until Feb. and by then there should be spectacular deals on the newer phones.
I still have my eye on the amaze...for now.
Understandable. HD2 is slowly starting to show its age, but it's still a kickass phone. Enjoy your new phone.
I can still watch my daughter enjoying the HD2
Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express

What what now???? I have Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.3) on my HTC HD2. And before that I had Gingerbread 2.3.7. And before that Window Phone 7. And before that ....
Oh I see. You're kidding. Right?
You will enjoy your SGS2 for a while....
If you like big 3D games your better of Keeping the HD2 for its true diversity and buying an Ipod Touch to play games, the Samsung just wont keep your ORD addiction topped up like the wonderful HD2
I have the opportunity to buy an HD2 again for under £100, shall I go for it, have lost touch with the Roms and WP7 now, been away for over a year

With the announcement of many new Android phones, I'm a bit torn on which to get. I'm just curious where everyone else is headed.
I think I'll be making the switch from WM (had a Touch pro) to an Android based phone. I'm leaning heavily towards the Xperia X10.
How about you guys?
Edit:
This may not be the right spot to put this thread, but I don't think it fit into the others that well. Please move this as seen fit.

Hehe, I've just sold my HD2 for the poor OS.
I've dreamed an HD2 device with Android!
I've bought an HTC Desire. I'll receive it in a mounth. Now I'm with my OLD GOOD Nokia 6630 LOL!
So far, if everything is 100% okay with the X10, the only drawback I see to owning one is that it won't be supported by the XDA community.
Anyone else looking at this phone?
i was expecting the new htc phones to buy a new phone and i 'm glad i did waited. i am VERY attracted to HTC Legend cause of its style and design but i want the performance of desire too. if there is a gap in price between them i will go for legend else it's desire.
Read my comparison of the two and tell me any difference there is in bewtween these two phones!!!
i want the desire!!!
but im on verizon..ugh
imhoping verizon gets a new NICER looking phone then the droid
imo its so ugly haha

I like the HTC HD2 screen size but... ITS WINDOWS MOBILE 6.5! YUCK!
Hopefully Android will be ported over to it when the HTC Evo 4g comes out right? I would kill for that phone

Yeah it reminds me of the Zune HD, but as a phone I think the OS is a stupid design. It doesn't seem fluid at all. This, of course, is coming from someone who hasn't had first hand experience. I have only seen videos, and of those videos, I am not impressed.

Ditto. I've never liked Windows Mobile. Symbian was way better than it, and I have to say, Android has blew symbian out of the water now. But didn't xda port android to it? Meh, I've never been a fan of ports, either. Here's what I'm doing: waiting till an upgrade period and if there's any whispers of a phone after the N1, I'll just wait for it and get that.
I have been lurking awile and I wanted to give opinion on the hd2 because I was in the same sitiaution when the hd2 came out. I was following the hd2 since october. And I was e excited about it. I was at the store early got it and I returned it the next day. I have been using a G1 since it came and then played around with a jailbroken and unlocked iphone and the hd2 was terrible. The. Phone itself is gorgeous but once you get over the bells and whistles its not user friendly and it locked up on me 5 times the period I had it.. I am just sticking to my G1 until somethin better comes out I cam say I prefer my rooted eclair G1 over the hd2 and the only other phone I would replace my g with now would an N1 but I don't want to pay the hefty price tag. I know you can flash the hd2 and all that but I don't like the idea of flashing a phone just to get it to work but rather flash, root, jailbreak to make it better. My G1 works fine out the box but its totally different. Beast when you root it.. aside from the freezing issues with the hd2, its just not. User friendly and the phone quality is terrible imo. You can get one for yourself but I would stick with my trusty g1..

I had a G1 and now have a HD2. I love the hardware and the winmo is just okay. My phone works great and the screen is awesome.
I do miss my G1. Everyone who likes winmo says it is great for business users. I am just an average user and miss my android apps. I played euchre on my G1 and the only euchre game I can find for winmo is $12.99. Not near as many apps and not many free apps.
I am patiently waiting for android to be ported to the HD2. There are no working ports of android on the HD2 so far. As is says in the previous post they have android ported to a winmo phone. But if you read the thread on XDA, the android port for the HD2 is really not even close.
Don't know about everyone else, but I bought the G1 at launch (10-24-08) and my contract won't be up until November.
I'm hoping for some good Win 7 phones by that time, with a physical keyboard.

i have to say.... im waiting for ANY good phone with a keyboard. companies seem to be stuck on touchscreen as most people like it because it's "sooo cool." cool as it is, it's a pain in the end. my main issue is the lag of the keyboard... it can't keep up with me! at least physical seems to NEVER lag unless the actual phone itself is encountering a laggy moment.

my 4 year old son has recently discovered need for speed shift on my hd2...........
..
I had an Iphone 4 last week for the week to try it as a replacement as i am due an upgrade.
I really didn't like it that much compared to my HD2 i really didn't like how little i could do with it and i also didn't like the total lack of widgets and general info on the homescreen etc, so it went back and i'm keeping my HD2 for now until the HD desire comes out and the only reason i want a change is texting no matter what i've tried with my HD2 rom wise, with and without HTC messaging client i cannot text properly its simply far too laggy, the iphone was miles better for texting just pants for everything else...
If someone could sort out the texting on the HD2 i wouldnt bother changing as it is the iphone has simply reminded me how i should be able to text...
I do echo the sentiments above though i love how much you can alter the HD2 i've had a new Android phone the last few weekd literally everyday bizarrly the texting is better with android less laggy
Android on the HD2 is what it's at,it takes a while to get used to it but once you do you never look back, i rarely use WINMO anymore about 2% of the time compared to 98% Android

Today lol, somebody called my HD2 an EVO xD
he was like wow, where can I get that? is it an EVO? (It's not for sale in my country)
Lol, he must have been thinking that it was an EVO because I'm running a sense based android build. I told what was really going on and he couldn't believe his eyes LOL.
Wonderful day my device once more has made impression once again
You know what? I agree with the OP. I had the choice to buy any phone out there recently. You know what I got? The HD2. Why? The iPhone 4 and it's 3 inch screen and locked down operating system can go suck donkey balls. I didn't want a native Android device, because I grew up using Windowss Mobile. So I look at all the WinMo phones. Dissapointing specs, until I saw this amazing device. So I got it. This was one of my best purchases ever.
Guys i am thinking to buy an official WP7 device (HTC Trophy)! And i will sell my beloved and Powerful HD2..
All registry tweaks, chevron, themes, apps from here will work on HTC Trophy???
LOL! Just Sold my hd2 and got an HD7!
Took all of 53 minutes to make up your mind, eh?
Not a bad call but personally I'm planning to hold out for the next gen HTC models. The HD7 is nice, but it's not really much further on than the HD2 and if I can run WP7 on the HD2...
i will keep HD2 and buy next gen phone with better CPU, GPU
I'd hold out and get a next gen

The HD2 can't be replaced at this time, it's simply to easy to switch os's. There no other phone (by my knowledge) that can do this. I still have one more year to go with my phone.....by that time i think i'll have made up my mind. For now i can't imagen getting a other phone.
I know you guys that the HD2 is the Best Phone ever made.. But it's time to move on! I had my HD2 for 4-5 months..LOL! And because i am a technology freak i went with something pretty new.. You will get a better screen with many more colors and 4-point multitouch instead of the half-functional 2 point multitouch we get with the HD2. Also with HD7, you'll get updates as soon as they're released. If you are only using wp7, it's a good choice to get a native wp7 phone. Good luck and have fun with your new phone.
I won't leave my HD2 for a long time yet, because I like being able to boot multiple OS's... and with a sd version of wm65 hopefully coming soon for the HD2, I'll be booting wp7, wm65, android and ubuntu all from my HD2.

That's cool that you got a new phone. One thing I appreciate about my HD2 is it's ability to multi boot OSes. Which enables users, like me, who live in areas where there is no variety of smartphones. (namely only BB's and iPhones can sell down here :3) It gave me windows of opportunities, and made me experience things I that I never dreamt of.
What I'm most appreciative of, is it gave me the chance to explore android. And now I adore android so much, that the next phone I'd like, is an android native phone. (lg optimus 2x? hope it comes with an 850MHZ band. xD)
So in all, i'm appreciative of the fact that it can help users choose which sort of OS they want for their next phone, since it can multi boot OSes. Example you, it gave you the opportunity for WP7, and you loved it, so as a result, you bought an HD7.
Have been HD2 user for nearly 2 years now. Been through all the good phases which the phone has to offer, WinMo 6.5 Custom ROMS in the begining then Android through SD card/Haret and then finally Android through NAND. Also gave WP7 and WP7 NODO a try too, two sepeate times, but somehow it was just unstable for me and never really worked out, so had it uninstalled and went back to Android within 2 days both the times.
It has been a great phone throughout, there was new joy each time a bug was ironed out or new dev was made for it by awesome devs here, like NAND or porting of gingerbread and more recently ICS or the solving of persisting GPS problem by tytung or the custom brightness issue just recently or the porting of new 2.6.35.x kernels by Mark & warrenb and many more I can't remember
But as all must good things come to an end, with a heavy heart I say good bye to my beloved HD2 and pack it to be shipped from my place to its lucky new owner who doesn't know even difference between android and windows btw and move on to HTC sensation..
It still is very capable phone and has atleast 1 more year of life in it, I decided to move on because the hardware buttons on my phone break quite often, had it repaired 2 times already because of same fault, only if HTC had decided to use capacitive buttons at that time
Anyway hope devs keep up the good work and we have full working ICS w/ 3.0.8 kernel on it and 720p recording soon and WP7.5 Mango without any issues for wp lovers
Many thanks to Cotulla, Tytung, NRGZ, Hastarin, Darkstone, Markinus, Marc, Warren, CM team, MIUI team and all the ROM chefs and devs I missed out (sorry I can't name each one of you)
Also HTC deserves a mention too, for creating a phone which was ahead of times with a badass 4.3 display which started the trend of big phones and their awesome Sense UI
Lastly, I would mention the awesome HD2 community we have here on XDA which keeps this phone rocking.
To HD2 the best phone ever

hmm, you used to be indecisive but now youre not so sure
i am sure many long time owners are looking around for the next 'HD2'.
what made you decide on Sensation over Amaze 4G?
and not Samsung Galaxy S II, the screen is a lot brighter...
HD2 is amazing, tried pretty much everything on it, WM, WP, Android... Will be switching to something new once Windows Phone 8 Apollo hardware is out.
Just can't understand why you would go with HTC Sensation (Android) over Titan II or Lumia 900 (WP 7.5) though
I am pretty sure that Lumia 800-900 is the new HD2, at least for the WP users,

Sensation and Amaze are both excellent phones. However IMO Amaze is what the original sensation should have been.It has better camera(s), data speed, no death grip issue, NFC, dedicated mic for active noise cancellation. There is also more CPU and RAM on Amaze but that I think it would negate for now if you put MIUI/CM7/9 on sensation, which you can't put on Amaze right now because HTC doesn't gave it S-OFF yet . So you are stuck with Sense UI on Amaze, but i don't mind it as its an excellent software. That's why the indecisiveness, I'm going from a phone with most dev to a phone with very low dev
Galaxy SII is a better phone when compared to Amaze in physical aspects as its lighter, slimmer, better screen and bigger battery. However Amaze has better build quality and has a slightly better camera. Rest of the Hardware is same for both on TMO version. But its expensive normally coz being more popular. Its normally more than $450.
I settled for Amaze as I scored an excellent deal from eBay for 350.
So it all depends on your budget. You get mint sensation normally for 300-350, Amaze is around 400 mark while the SGSII is 450-500.

I am BIG fan of HTC. Currently courting the wrong side (Samsung) and would love to go get a ONE X but the only thing keeping me from ONE X is the lack of microSD. Does anyone know whether SG3 will have microSD? It seems like the general trend is to omit it.
I just ditched Sansung GS2 SKyrocket for HD2.
Gosh I hate the battery drainage on LTE and 4g.
No matter how fast dual core cpu is and how fancy the super amoled plus looks, its all useless if you have to charge the phone every 6 hours
I am sticking with my HD2 for now. You gotta love the fact that all the devs and support that are far greater on HD2 than any other phones.
I will wait hold my 500 dollars until all those manufacturers do something about the battery on LTE and 4G.

Getting emotionally attached to a phone is weird, but i also share that same feeling
All these phone just do what they are supposed to do, the HD2 did so much more than what it was supposed to, that's what it made it so special
Still have it and works like a charm, but for next device
HTC Hurrkian 1.5 Ghz quad core
Android 4.0
Sense UI 4.0
Camera 12 mega pix

just one month ago i have bought this phone fo 130 euros with no sound that i fixed fo free thanx to my experience with electronics. Few days after that I installed android and every day after that i was testing almost every possible rom for hd2. Now I must say the only thing. This phone just rocks like hell. I didnt know that this phone can handle so much . I know that there are better phones out there if we are talking about specs but I must say that this phone is inspiration for other or new developers. It also inspired me and I am also looking forward to build my own rom for this phone even if I know there are plenty of really good roms for this phone. But I must also say that I am looking forward to buy HTC ONE X or SAMSUNG Galaxy S3 when it comes out. But anyway I WILL KEEP THIS PHONE even after its death
Sent from my Dorimanx powered HTC HD2
Ive had like 15 different roms on my sd in the last 2 months, and havent flashed magldr yet, 1 year and a half... when my contract ends is gonna be hard to chose a new phone.

HD2 its a very good phone with a lot of developing work. But like others phones the company plan to keep up to date the newest phones and forget the older. Its a hard work to a developer build the roms and test it. I think that the equation good hardware(phone) + good developers gives the result of excelent on this phone.

just check out the nokia support froum.
but the ones that pee me off is
1. poor battery life
2. badly grounded screen so jitters on touch
3.random reboots
4.poor audio quailty through headphone jack
there is a new update pushing out now but i dont have much faith in it as the past ones just brought more bugs to the phone.
i've recently moved from hd2 to sensation xe. i really like the xe, but i'll never get rid of hd2, its the first phone i've kept after getting a new one........
I too finally moved on from my HD2 to a Galaxy S II. However, I must say as quick and enjoyable as the GSII is I still pop my sim back into my HD2 every couple of days to mess around with Windows Phone. I bought the phone when it launched on TMOUS and never thought I'd be able to run Android and Windows Phone let alone that it would be able to keep up for this long.
