I am having a gallery issue where I select a picture and and different picture loads. Sometimes from the same album or different album. Shutting down sometimes resolves the issue or a soft reset and sometimes it does not. Sometimes I have to go into USB mode and add or delete a picture for ot to work properly again. One time the images in my download album al appeared blurry. I downloaded a picture from my email and then they all appeared normal again. Anyone else have this gallery bug?

Another one of those mind boggling simple bugs in Gingerbread/Nexus S.
Yes, I've seen similar, in that if I take a picture, it often won't show in the gallery unless I open it via a file explorer app from the sdcard.
I haven't tried forcing a media scan manually (there are apps for that), to see if that addresses it.
The Nexus S feels much more like a BETA product (software wise) than I recall the Nexus 1 feeling.

I had this exact same problem. You have to delete all of the thumbnails for your photos so that they reload. The only thing is, the thumbnails are no longer stored in the DCIM folder like they were pre-Gingerbread. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly where they're stored - I used root explorer to find them and delete them.
/Android/data/
You will see a folder called 'com.cooliris.media' delete it. The gallery app will regenerate your album thumbs.

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=13419 Thanks.
I mean wth do we have to go through all that to see our pics... they took forever to fix the text issue they said they have a fix for which we haven't received. The fix for blurry mms is fixed thank god. Now this? Yeah the N1 did feel like a better product but the updates helped that one too. These are stupid things that shouldn't be an issue though.

This issue happens on and off; it's quite absurd. My pictures are once again not opening to the correct photos. As I've said before, it's stuff like this (among a slew of other issues and glitches) which make Gingerbread, and to some degree Android, feel like a second rate experience.
Has anyone also experienced that sometimes pictures aren't clear in the gallery? Often, the picture will come up unclear, but after a second, will be clear as it's meant to be. But sometimes the clarity doesn't happen.
Does it have anything to do with the internal memory or something again (similar to the random ringtone change issue)?
Is this yet another glitch of Android?
Edit: I should mention this is not the MMS issue which is often mentioned. I'm talking about regular photos that are taken with the Camera. Those sometimes don't clear up either.
Yeah, I get this too.
I wait until all the pics are done downloading from the SD card... then I pick the picture.

It happens to me randomly even long after the SD card has loaded.
Why is the gallery reader like this anyway, where it is blurry at first, then clear?
Promise you its not androids fault. You will never EVER have a phone with HTC SENSE do that.

My gallery just freezes when trying to load. Sometimes the newest downloaded or pictures just taken won't show up, its random.

The low res fade into higher res gallery quirk is more of a feature and is how the gallery always has shown photos even back on the nexus one. It allows quick flipping enough photos without having to insanely cache everything in full from the start. It only should take a second to flick over though.
I'm loving the nexus s gallery performance. I'm sorry to hear some aren't as thrilled.
One if the posters spoke about this stuff not happening in htc - that's rubbish, the 3d gallery acts the same there too, only worse, because oh the lack of hyper fast inand. And the htc gallery is rubbish, it struggles to even show thumbnails if you have too many pics. I speak from experience owning the desire hd, which is the most powerful htc phone to date.
The wrong photo issue is completely fixed by clearing the photo cache and then restarting the device. It didn't clear up until the restart, for some reason.
I have some issues with the gallery as well. But I must say that it performs 10X better then it did on my N1, it was sooo slow and laggy on that thing!!!
Get JustPictures! from the market, way better that Gallery3d imo, plus you can access your picasa, flickr, facebook, smugmug, etc pics from there as well.
Android Gallery sucks ... It just sucks. It does not display in high quality, 16 bits instead of 24 bits. You will see terrible color banding on gradient colors.
Google just lied when they told us everything is 32 bits on Android 2.3.
Nah, that's not true.
I hate that because HTC Sense gallery is much better.
Skip that 3D animation transition, it is an image gallery. Without high quality output, that's no good.
JustPictures is the same, it still display terrible color banding.

I'm very happy with the Gallery performance, and as has been said the low res image fading to high res is a feature of the Android gallery, it's always done that on every handset I've owned.
The gallery has it's share of quirks/bug in the NS version of it, but agreed with others, the fading is a design feature, not a bug.
Has anyone encountered the situation wherein even the application images are in your gallery?
Got some problem with wallpapers.
After experementing with some ROMS, my default wallpapers have this strange noise;
I tried to install another ROMS, but this noise still here.
Is there a way to full reset wallpapers?

Whats the problem? They all look like that, or are you trying to say that its blurry ?
If so I would try to get another version of that image from the web, http://images.cyberimg.com/android/2012/06/28/jellybean_wallpaper-650x541.jpeg
Try downloading that and swapping the image out.
If the "Noise" persist, then I don't think their is anything wrong with your image.
Hope this helps.
So compare
tau . rghost . ru/40813681/image.png (dont forget to zoom)
and
cdn01 . androidauthority . com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/wallpaper_01.jpg
Difference is more noticeable at png.
By the way, when i fresh install any ROM, this wallpaper looks normal, but when i set this wallpaper again in wallpapers menu, it has this noise;

Please, look at this fragment. I ask my friends about it, and they said that they can see this "noise".
Also, i have a simmilar problem with whole screen. It seems that between the glass and the screen is dirty. It makes simmilar effect on the whole screen, but its not noticeble as this wallpaper bug. So difference between images you can see on any display.
It's all very weird.
Sorry for my bad english

Okay, now I see what you are talking about!
It seems like the one on the right was saved with a lower color depth producing noticeable dithering. I can't tell you why the same image would appear differently with different ROMs though, I have no idea.
I could upload the default wallpapers for you when I get home tonight if you would just like to restore them though.

Thank mate, but i want to fix it permanently.
Is there a way to do a FULL wipe, really FULL? Lol.
So anybody know, where is stock wallpapers folder?
Updating to 4.1.2 didn't fixed this problem.
Hi, I sure hope this doesn't count as thread-necromancy, but my search didn't lead to any other results (except this guy here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817956 - an even older thread.)
I just wanted to confirm this issue, I guess. The stock wallpapers really turned from (more or less) crispy clear to a grainy mess.
I bought my Nexus 7 on release here in Germany, first half of September iirc. Everything fine, no hardware issues at all.
Some day, the OTA Update to 4.2.1 turned up, I confirmed and installed it. The new dropdown settings are cool and all, but...
Yeah, the stock wallpapers got all noisy. The update somehow messed them up.
I use the green one on every Android device I own, so there's no doubt. Noticed it the second the homescreen became visible.
I have no idea why Google would reduce the quality, if that's even an intended change. And, yes, you can simply download the "old, good" version and set it as wallpaper, but it remains a weird issue. Hey, at least we are not imagining it.

I do, and it is very annoying, it is also presented when writing with the keyboard, when recording a video and using the camera.

I do not know if it's a phone problem or not, but it does not make sense to think it's a phone problem because flickering only occurs in the circumstances I mentioned earlier.

By any chance you have the rootless Pixel launcher or SwiftKey keyboard?

No, I'm using "Gboard" and "launcher" that comes by default on the phone.
But in the same way the camera also blinks when using it.
I have the security patch for March.
I have noticed it too. And not just between switching apps. It happens while browsing media streaming apps also.
I booted my phone in safe mode and the problem was solved.
I still can't figure out which app is causing this.
Has anyone else experienced a bug in Google photos where the image adjusts when you click to view them? In the preview section the images appear normal but when you click on one and view it the colours wash out slightly and looks quite different from the original. You can see it adjust moments after you click on it. It's happening on every custom rom I've tried but is fine when on stock miui. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this when using custom ROMs.

PE11 or PE+11 ? I am on PE11 and Photos app work normal. Not different between PE and miui or my others old devices like xperia xz, galaxy s6, nexus4. Are you backup your photos? If yes, Which upload method you selected?

I have just re-installed the latest regular PE11 and the issue is there. The photos are backed up normally through Google photos to my Google drive. I have access to a Pixel 5 and the images appear fine there it's just on my Mi 9T the photos app alters the way the image looks. It's not all images though which is strange. Some I can view and nothing changes but then others I'll click on them and the picture brightens and washes out as if a filter has been applied.
I think I figured out the issue. Under the display settings I had selected 'adaptive' but when switched to 'saturated' the issue is resolved. Fingers crossed that's all there is to it but so far so good.
Hi. I've had this issue for quite a while and it's finally bothering me though to try to find out what it is. Please see attached photos.
What's happening is that in the same sequence of photos from the same moment I am getting weird blue tinted/ color distorted pictures. Same
lighting, camera wasn't moved. Has anyone seen this? How do I fix it?
I also posted this over on the OP forums.

Did you try wiping data and cache of camera app? It seems to me that somehow one of the filters is stuck and bugged.
o6 filter makes the cam blue.

I did try that after someone suggested that on the OP forums. I swear I did that before though, and the pictures are one after another, and they come out both normal and with that blue tint. It's very frustrating.
