I am constantly getting duplicate messages thrice for each message I receive. I am using Go SMS App and surely it's not network problem because I had this problem with different network also and by goggling it, it's looks like I am not the only one. Very annoying to receive one message three or even four times. I have disable message notification in stock message app though it's not duplicate notification issue but SMS itself. When I say every, I do mean 'every' SMS.
had this rpob :/ i think i reflashed to fix it
u knw wat , i had d exact same issue when i started to use go sms pro first.. but not now.. how it stopped, dunno.. :/

Had this problem too. Was annoying as my friends were also getting multiple messages from me. Also with GoSMS Pro. I noticed it really didn't play nice when I was also using Smartdog Studio's Remote Web Desktop.
Think the problem went away when I reflashed.
I did re flashed many times but problem never went away

What i noticed is when you are in a particular thread and that very same person messages you that very moment when you are in his name thread, you tend to received that message twice...
It happens everytime, not only when I open Go Sms app. Interval between duplicated messages is usually b/w 2-5 minutes.

Hey guys, I wanted to see if any fellow vibrant uses have been getting this.
This is the second time this has happened to me. Just out of no where I will launch my sms application (handcent) and the all of my texts are gone, like magic....
I have done alot of looking and found out that this is an old problem that is general for any android user. Wanted to see if anyone know the solution to what is causing this.

This just happened to me recently. I also use handcent. I dont know if this is the case for you, but I am a packrat, so I had a lot of messages.
I think the limit of SMS messages that can be stored on the phone is 5,000. The only thing that didnt make any sense is that not ALL of my messages were gone, I had 8 left from a recent conversation. I cant explain why they werent deleted...
We can start narrowing things down though. If you dont think you reached the phones limit, then maybe it is a Handcent bug, or a bug with TouchWiz.
it use to happen to me before when i had i believe was the mytouch slide at that time but i cant recall. and yes it happened when i had over 3000+ for my GF and like around 200 for other people! Now i usually just get to 600 or less and delete it and start over. I use the stock sms app btw and have no problems at all.
It happened to me too, not the first or second time it have always happened from the start. I don't use handcent, everything is untouched with no root.

Hmmm...a few people claim that this stopped after they uninstalled the antivirus app. However, I never used this app so it can't mean that. On top of that, many claim that this was due to 3rd party app. That wouldn't make any sence because if uninstalling different apps will fix it.
A few also mentioned that installing the sms back up also stopped the problem. It was also mentioned that handcent has an update coming that said they would fix it but that was almost a year ago. I couldn't find anything on the handcent website that fixed the issue. A lot of android users have the same issue as us on their forum. There are at least 10+ posts on this topic, non with a solution....

Have you removed the settings to delete old messages when limits are reached?
or have u edited those settings in the messaging app?
That's the first thing I checked
it's unchecked, no limits and no deleting if old text messages. Here's the thing, even if that was enabled, it would only delete after reaching the limit and keep it at that. What happened was that all the text messages just disappeared...

This used to happen to me on the G1 on occasion. I got around the issue by using the CyanogenMod Messaging application and setting the auto-delete limit to 200 messages per person, and using the free SMS Backup application to export all SMS messages to a label Gmail as they're received. I'm still using the same solution on the Vibrant, and I've had no problems since.
I didn't think that cyanogenmod is available for the samsung vibrant yet...or am i missing something?

The CyanogenMod 5 (Android 2.1) Messaging app can be installed over the Vibrant's Messaging app just fine. Download a CM5.0.8 ROM for the Nexus One and install the Messaging.APK found in \system\data. :]
I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.

What's up guys
I've been having issues with my stock message app. Instead of working properly it sends & receives messages in the wrong order. Its really bugging me cuz I have to look for a new message between a bunch of old ones. I've cleared: data, cache and force stop the message app but nada. Please help! !!
Thanks!!!

Is your Timezone and Clock set to the correct time, I had mine set to Indianapolis and I live in san Diego, so my text messages where random too.. so when i changed my timezone back to normal it cleared everything back to normal..
I have the same issue also and my clock and timezone are set fine. I think this issue was posted here a few times and it turns out I that its an issue with the stock messaging app. If you switch to handcent sms the problem should go away.
You could also try using a message/SMS app instead of the stock one.
I've tried both ChompSMS and Handscent and both are extremely customizable, fast and IMO offer better features then the stock application.
It seems to happen to me when three phone goes to roaming, if that helps at all.

Has anyone else had an issue with getting an sms notification, but when you view the convo it doesn't display anything new? This has happened a few time for me.

Been happening to me alot...its REALLY annoying.
Friend sends message ( see msg in notification bar)
i veiw message thread
No message
its really annoying, im wondering how to fix it?
Only thing I can think of is that the timestamp is off, thereby making it so that the 'new' message is dated several hours earlier and thus you don't see it at the bottom of the SMS thread.

Noticed that this is the case, there appears to be a bug with the SMS timestamp fix is my guess. Sometimes messages are showing up several hours behind and sometimes several hours ahead.
I'm not sure exactly where this problem lies, but its really annoying me!
If I send a message when I don't have any reception, when I regain signal the message says its sent in handcent but it still shows the sending spiral thing. In the default message app it also shows a little logo to suggest its still sending. Sometimes it can take a whole day to actually send.
Is there a way to force send a message in this state?
Thanks in advance

I wondered this too. thought it was handcent causing the probs so uninstalled it. has happened once since. really annoying theres no "stop sending" or "resend" option available.
This happened to me too. To get rid of it, I long pressed on the message in Handcent and deleted the message. Don't know if it actually sent or not.
Problem in Handcent ? Because it's fine for me in the stock SMS app from HTC.
hey
i have a wierd problem with texts
every message i receive goes into its own thread instead of updating the current persons text thread..
i just changed rom's so backed up my sms's with sms backup and restore. , after restoring i noticed that all my sent messeges and received messages to people there in 2 different threads for each person one thread for sent one for received....
so i thought it might have been a dodgy backup... so i viewed the backup but everything looks ok nothing is split into 2 threads .... each person has 1 thread
so i thought it might be the sms backup not being compaitable with my new rom (dragon j/b 1.7) so i deleted my sms's ALL of them and started from scratch....
but again i just received a text from a friend i replied to that and when he replied again it went into a new thread......
anyone help?
checked my contacts they are all linked (ie, facebook....google.... accounts into one contact file)
anyone? can't seem to find info anywhere

I had the same issue with Dragon 1.6 when I installed with AOSP SMS. Reinstalled the ROM, this time with stock MMS AND the issue was resolved.

tried that this morning didn't work still same problem
so weird thing happened here.. when i installed the Go SMS app, my native AOSP SMS app started stacking the messages into one contact... somehow the GO SMS app interfered with the AOSP sms app... so i just gonna live it installed.. hide it.. and wait for a fix one the AOSP SMS app... i hope this somehow helps to figure out the problem.
