Bionix-v or bionix frost or bionix nextgen - Vibrant General

Im using bionix v right now and I.love how snappy it is. I wanna know the other versions are. Are they as snappy as bionix v? Stable? Thanks

Out of all of them, I prefer Bionix-V, Gingerbread look, snappy, fast, it's awesome. <3

Aoght thanks. So far bionix v has been my favorite rom out of aall the ones I've tried. But I wanted to get a more updated one with the same benefits.

Im running bionix v 1.3.1 and I've made some changes to it using some tweeks used in toxic 8 and made this rom twice as snappy with awsome battery life like that of toxic 8 if interested just say the word
I used the script manager ,kick ass kernel tweaks, bali kernel,kb5 modem, and the build.prop from toxic crazy 8.....had to modify it a tiny bit....
Your probly wondering why I went thru all this trouble...
I love both rims but found a few bugs in craxy8 that I couldn't stand.....and after a little while other aspects of the rom started getting glitchy.....and since the creater of toxic crazy 8 has moved on.....I chose not to bother him with it.....
I found no issues with bionix other than battery life wasn't nearly as good as toxic crazy 8 and wasn't quite as fast and snappy.....so I took it apon myself to merge what I feel to be the 2 best 2.2 roms together..well sorta mixed them

I have used Bionix v1.3.1 with Bali kernel for a long time and it is the most stable rom I have used on the Vibrant. My brother uses Nextgen V2 with Immortality v2.2 and that is super snappy too. V2 seems to have a different launcher by default, and generally has more third party apps preinstalled (I delete them with Titanium Backup).
For some odd reason, that same combo does not work on my Vibrant and crashes a lot. I guess even between the same phone there are differences within that we do not know about (the color on screen also looks different...and it has nothing to do with Voodoo color). Good luck finding your favorite rom/kernel combo!

They're all great, but Frost is very old, it was (i think one of)the first SGS4G ports, it was 2.2.1, but it had its bugs, and was very laggy without a custom kernel. Bionix V 1.3.1 or Bionix NextGen v2 is your best bet if you want a TW froyo rom.

Its really a matter of flashing and seeing which one you like...if I had to vote I would say Nero...has all the strengths of a leaked Gingerbread ROM...none of its weaknesses.

I largely agree too. I like Gingerclone's look the best out of all of them, but I was getting a lot of FC's. I like Axura's battery life, but the skin isn't quite my style. I like Nero too, but they update way too much (not necessarily a bad thing!), so I'm flashing every other day (it's addictive, they're feeding my habit :-/) or so now that I'm trying it out.
Nothing wrong with trying all three. Just make sure you get Titanium Backup!
I flash alot of roms and the last one i liked was Macnut 14, till i gave Neo 3 a try and i think im comfortable with their work I give them a 10.

none of them need to be updated frequently IMO
most of the details (now) are small and rarely un-noticable some boot animations and framework stuff that i cant really tell you about, some however, like myself, just like to keep trying the newest/latest thing posted on the board haha
im running nero 3 and voodoo and love i love it, however i also really like auxura, eugenes ginger clone is just to stock for me personally, i like a little flare (though i dont like to talk about my flare ) in my roms
you really cant go wrong
Nero 3 is very good

Aura 2.2 w/Voodoo 5 Kernel JL5 (or stock kernel) stable, zero bugs, good battery, not themed to any heavy degree. A friendly community website. Only downside; juvenile boot animations. I can change that, it's almost cute and funny, ugh.
Upside; Aura 2.2 fixes all the Voodoo kernel bugs for me and more. Good Dev support, so far.
Simply fast and smooth, with no dark brooding teen theme, or Vegas whisky look.
I like Eugene's stuff too, just too much work to tune the right combo of battery and performance. But sometimes I run his stuff because of the fast updates and multiple options. And he gets the newest leaks quick.

[Q] Axura 2.3.1 or Trigger 2.5?

Currently on Bionix v and it's just too tempting.... time to flash!
Any advice for me? The choice is the latest release of Axura (2.3.1) or Trigger (2.5)...
Which way would you go???
I have been tempted to flash bionix. I seen videos and looks to be very impressive. why are you switching?

First let me say that I think that all of the Devs here do a fantastic job, and in the end it is probably a bit subjective as to which ROM you prefer. I have seen many say that both Axura and Trigger are the bomb... and there is only one way to find out! The only other reason would be that it appears that the Devs of these ROM's are a bit more responsive - not that TW is not - it just somehow seems that they are a bit overwhelmed (more users, more questions?) and many of the answers come from other users rather than the DEV's .... not bad, just different. Again, I'm not flaming anyone - all of the DEV's here are amazing!
I'd go for Axura because I've been wanting to try it. But earlier this week I flashed Flagship (coming from Bionix) and I haven't been displeased at all.
But it's all personal preference.
I flashed Trigger 2.1 couple a days ago with DoW kernel by Morphic and I can tell you that this beast is incredible fast and so smooth. Couple of months ago I hated my vibrant but now it's running at its real capacity.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
2.2.1 stock beta 2. also works great with the DOW14 kernel.
This is interesting... I would have thought that Axura 2.3.1 would run away with the vote as it is a more mature ROM....

I haven't used trigger yet but I hear its good. Its up for you to decide but I prefer axura the most and I know most people would if they tried it out also! It also comes stock with launcher pro, adw, zeam (I use this) , and Eugene's gingerbread launcher not Steven lins. It also has a custom star wars unlock screen plus the best transition I've seen and you can make them extra smooth by making it slow on spare parts app which is included .

I can say for sure Axura and Bionix don't need it as I have gone between them often.
Personally, I love Axura. It's fast, rock-stable, and there are a nice variety of themes and mods all on their home site (Devsforandroid.com).
I'm a pretty demanding user, and I havn't had any problems or even a moment of lag or buggieness with this ROM.
Just my 2 cents, of course, spend it as you will.

KP's Beta #4 vs Ninja vs Red Pill

I figured since there are 3 really good ROMs out right now, but I don't have the time to really test them out, I figure I would ask the question here.
Kenneth's Beta #4
vs
Dorian's Red Pill
vs
Sam's Ninja
What are the pros and cons of each that you guys have noticed? I'm looking to jump to one, but don't have all the time in the world. I've left out CherryBlur since it's based off of 4.5.2 and I would like to use themes Nottach has created.

your asking about personal preference which can be dangerous since people want to believe they are always right lol so be wary im using ken's rom and its pretty stock to what was released is really fast nice ui and can be flashed back, all these roms run well so its all a matter of which ui appeals to you if you like the new version of motoblur then thats mostly kens if u want a gingerbread(black and green) thats ninja although im not sure if the dock is on gb yet and im not aware of what red pill looks like but to be straight forward so far the two ive run sams and kens both run great its a ui preference.
I run Cherryblur and its my favorite so far, then I say Kenns since its just a stock ATT rom which is why it has the least amount of bugs.

Oh. I'm an idiot. I've been gone too long. Getting thrown into this after GB and the rush of ROMs and kernel being created is bogging down on me...I apologize to the community.
I have been using CherryBlur v0.5 with faux123's latest kernel and Mattedblues theme. Battery life seems pretty good, speed is wonderful and everything just works. I haven't tried any of the other ROM's because I have everything setup like I want it and just don't feel like setting up again. I will not run the later CherryBlur ROM's because the themes will not work with them. Right now I believe all of the ROM's should perform pretty similar since they are all based off of the same source(except for CherryBlur v1+).

From Team Whiskey Bionix V 1.3.1 to?

What's up guys. I flashed some roms a few months ago and kinda just stuck with Team Whiskeys Bionix V 1.3.1. It was snappy and had great battery life but after time it seems to have slowed down. I flashed it probably 5-6 months ago. Now its not quite as quick as it once was...kinda seems a little buggy.
So I'm looking to flash a new rom. I'm looking for something that is stable and quick and wont be a bunch of trouble flashing over bionix 1.3.1. Im also running the Overstock kernel if that makes any difference. Let me know things I'll need to avoid if I don't want to brick my phone and what you guys think.
Thanks

Me too, I have tried them all and I go right back to Bionix, its fast, great battery, everything works and it has a nice clean design. I love the splash screen no annoying badly designed "themes" or splash screen that look like it was done by a angst teenager. Just a professional highly functional rom. I miss those guys.
Time to move on to gingerbread JVR an Jvs roms are great CM7 2
I went from 1.3.1 to Biffmod. Great battery life and very few minor quirks for me. Have been on it about a month and really liking it. Although I'm still keeping an eye on other ROMs. I feel like I'm neglecting my phone when I don't give it something new!

.....anyways GoodVibe having Overstock don't matter cuz it will get replaced after you flash your new ROM with whatever kernel that ROM comes with but ,since you're moving from Bionix, make sure you disable Voodoo. Try the Bali 1.8.8 kernel if you end up flashing a Froyo ROM that supports it (good battery life). Your gonna have a little more work to do if you go to a GB ROM.
I decided I'm gonna keep Bionix 1.3.1 on my daily Vibrant since I don't have any issues with it and when I get more time try others on my spare Vibrant. If Bionix feels a lil laggy try going to recovery and wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, fix permissions and see if that helps to refresh it or you could always re-flash it to get it fresh again, but I'm pretty sure your itching to try something new. Luck homie.

Thanks mrrob...that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I've been out of the loop for a little bit and I don't feel like reading through 25 threads to figure out what rom bugs out when flashed over whatever kernel or vice versa. And I also don't know what roms are stable and user friendly and what are just nuts. I tried TW frost when it first came out and that wrecked my phone. So I flashed back to jfd and then bionix and quit flashing for a while. Too much risk for me I guess.
Its funny...there are so many roms now. I remember just a few months ago cm7 was new for vibrant and the only other real decent roms were trigger, bionix, and azura I think. Just a few and that was it.
Thanks for the info guys. I have a new TW link to check out but most likely I'll fix permissions and dalvik and if all else fails just reflash bionix 1.3.1.

Gingerbread ROM You Are Using...

I've been running Syndicate Rom v1.2 for abotu 6 months now and while waiting for v1.3 (2.0) or whatever version will be based on EI22, am curious what people are using now. I've read through all the threads and ACS ICS (now v3.5) looks like a good one to try.
Yes, I am not sure which EI22 to run yet, so I'm still on Froyo.
Thanks.
X2.
I'm wondering the same thing, except I haven't been on xda for awhile and don't even know what's out there. Srf 1.2 with genocide 1.1.1 and ef02 modem has been good for me.

This thread would be great if new people would read it instead of posting new threads on "what's the best ROM". They could see which is the most popular and ask questions here. Nice. (but that won't happen lol).
waiting patiently for CM7
I was trying different ones last night and my god are they all fast including stock unrooted. Marcusant's ICS is what I've settled on right now. Legendary was good but too Vanilla Android for me. If you like that sort of thing, jump right on. I'll also be testing some others. Tomahawk may be good if you're very used to SRF. It looks very similar. Haven't gotten to load it yet. Haven't had any issues at all. Seems more customizeable or maybe practice with the leaks has yielded superior results. Seems like there's going to be more coming, too!
i have been using ICS v2. i love it so far, i did have one random reboot, but its fast, seems more consistent than my previous rom (bonsai ec05). I cant wait for the GPS to be fixed, i am loving this room so far (well im not too much of a fan of the glowing blue scroll bars).
Best ROM for ECO5 powered Epic is deadly package of srf 1.2 + Genocide 2.0 OC to 1.4Ghz
For Ei22 , I have virtually tested all available roms (all versions too) and found ERA Legendary beta 3.1 + AIP rom OCed to 1.2 to be most stable and swift.
Loving it... maybe ACS guys will come with next version of SRF 2.0.
Anybody Listening !!!

i could not get legendary to flash on my phone for some reason. it just sits on the nobekernal screen after i flash it. i waited like 5 minutes and it just stays there.
If i can just get the GPS working on ICSv2 i will be very happy.

Try a factory data reset before flashing Legendary.
Back on stock.

Yes, that's the one. I didn't like ERA on screen kb with tinny keys or blue swype and switched to Flex-T9.
The latest ACS-ICS V3.5 release seems to be working great! No issues found with gps- locking 8/8 satellites from indoors, and no issues sending mms, or uploading photos for facebook.
ACS and Marcusant have done a great job with this Gingerbread release.
Clean GB has been working fine for me with no glitches at all
EDIT - I know I said I'm waiting on CM7 , but I starting going into withdrawals
um that starsky rom looks pretty ok to me....
lol
check sig :]
Got it downloaded too for future reference if I have future problems with ACS-ICS.
CleanGB....battery life is great for me, and with the black theme, it is what it says....clean! Thinking about flashing the samurai kernel over it.
Though, I do have nandroids of cm7 and miui that I'm sure I will jump back to from time to time. Cm7 was my dd since the last release until last night. Besides video recording, everything else worked great for me, including mms, and being able to switch themes on the fly is awesome.
Gonna stick with cleangb for a bit though. Good stuff!

I'm using ACS ICS 3.5 and I'm quite impressed. It's definitely a speed demon...really snappy. The kernel seems to be very stable in overclock also. This new GB with the ACS ICS ROM is more than i was expecting, especially considering the newness of it. I don't miss my old FROYO/syndicate frozen ROM one bit. Gingerbread/ACS ICS and a little bit of Voltage control tweaking...well...it's like I have a brand new phone.
