Does anyones else get this message when they try and use a wedget? Not enough space. Operation failed or nothing at all shows up? If so how do i fix it?
Maybe you have too much space already occupied on that screen.
Try creating a new screen and try again, maybe with a different widget.
What Launcher are you using btw?
I am using Go Launcher and i am putting it on its on screen. i have tried many different apps and all the same issue.

Using all sorts of widgets in Go Launcher EX. No problems.
What widgets are you having issues with?
I am trying to use CalenGoo , I pick the agenda on its on page and nothing shows up....I am thinking i should just install CyanogenMod 7 on Kindle Fire and call it a day but i know the Dev's are still trying there best to get it all working.

CalenGoo's widget works just fine. I have 5 pages of widgets running in Go Launcher and have yet to find one that won't run. What launcher are you using?
I'm using GOLAUNCHER and I get the same "no enough space errro" even though I have a tons of room left.
im using adw ex with beatiful widgets and they toggle widgets work great

Hey guys is there anyone out there who knows if this is possible and if it exists:
I'm looking for a Rom that keeps the existing interface of the kindle (the shelves and docks at the top and the area to pin favorites) essentially keeping everything the same except replacing the area where it shows the recently used items with a clock or something and keep the favorites shelves underneath and to gain the ability to replace the stock lock screen pictures with your own. then the only other change would be to give it the full android market and gain access to all of the other apps on there too.
Is that possible to do and keep the full functionality of the kindle with amazon? Is there a chance it exists already and I just missed it? If someone makes it I'm willing to donate. I cant afford much but I think there are a lot of other people who would appreciate this and donate also. Thanks.
P.s. swype would be awesome too but not required
i think you can root, install the market, and then unroot and still be able to use amazon services....dunno about replacing the carousel with a clock tho..

Ok I just got the kindle a few days ago so I'm really new to this so I'm sorry for the noob questinons but what about replacing the lock images? Ive looked around and have found a couple tutorials but I don't understand them. Can someone point me to a User friendly way? I want to actually change them with root not just the work around unrooted
To add the clock in stead of the recent list, you'd have to modify the stock launcher. You are probably better off just using a different launcher, as the modification would take a fair amount of work and is very specific.
Is it possible? Yes.
Is it worth anyone's time? Maybe if they get paid.
Is there anything like what you are describing? No.
What most people do to keep the stock Kindle features (Like Instant video and books and what not), is to use Kindle Fire Utility to do the following.
1. Temp Root / Perm Root
2. Install Google Apps / Go EX Launcher
3. Unroot (or if you are perm rooting then you wouldn't unroot)
Once you have Go EX on your Kindle you can then switch between that launcher or the launcher that comes with your Kindle. So basically you just switch back and forth between the two on the fly. I have found that this is the best way to keep my Kindle for now as I have the one month free trial for Amazon Prime and I want to use it.
This can be done with Kindle Fire Utility in less than five minutes.

Well, you will have to do the driver installation portion of the Kindle Fire Utility beforehand. Then once that is complete, you can run "run.bat".
It would not erase anything on your kindle and you do not have to reboot to switch between the two launchers. When on Go you will see Kindle Launcher in the app drawer and when your on the Kindle Launcher you will see the icon for Go Launcher in the carousel.
Alternatively, you can install another home application instead of Go Launcher after you side load Google Apps / Go Launcher EX in Kindle Fire Utility. Since it automatically installs Go Launcher...just install another launcher after if you want and then remove Go Launcher. In my case I use ADW EX as my launcher but Go Launcher works just fine.

This is really a question that belongs in the Q&A section and not necessarily in development. I do however suggest that you read through many of these forums and educate yourself on how to use all of the tools that are available and what not. I really suggest a great site called kindlefirewire.com he uses video tutorials that show you step by step how to root, tweak, and flash roms specifically on the kindle fire. Definitley worth checking out.
Good evening all. I just recently received my Galaxy Tab 7.7 this past week. First off all I can say is WOW, the screen, size, weight, etc. absolutely an incredible little critter. Anyhow I was wondering if it is normal for this device to NOT automatically put my apps in alphabetical order? My Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and my Epic Touch 4G do it but I have to manually do it on my 7.7 everytime I install something.
I havent tried it if it works on the tab with a touchwiz by look for an app called Appzorter, it works on all Galaxy based phones with TW that I've tried.
Get adw lancher ex.. it organize it for u in the drawer, plus its more efficient then tw. Wit it installed the tab seem much faster.
On my galaxy note on gingerbread w/ stock Touchwiz launcher it doesn't alphabetically organize unless you change the app drawer layout to "List". (The ICS leak ROMS for the Note do however) Waiting to get my 7.7 so not sure if it has a "List" option as my 10.1's and 7" on Honeycomb were always in alphabetical order like you mentioned, OP.
Like the poster above said get an aftermarket launcher and you can alphabetize them.
I am also trying to figure out how to do this. With my 6810, even when I organize them manually several of them go back to the last page on their own. Ive tried Appzorter, but for some STRANGE reason it shows as not available for my 7.7. but my EVO 3D can download and install it? So I tried to just copy the APK and sideload, but it just force closes over and over. Ive also tried ADW, but I dont like the top grey bar that is always visible on the home screen. Couldnt find any option to change that. Loving my 7.7, except for the ridiculous app drawer. Even the 7.0 plus I had auto alphabetized the app drawer, but my $600 tab cant?

You can hide the top bar on ADW.EX with the "swipe down action" under gestures. I think the one you want is "show/hide statusbar"--I changed swipe down to this, hid it, turned off the gesture, and it hasn't ever come back, including after reboots.
Nevermind. Sorry for the mispost.

AppZorter did the trick on my 7.7! Great little app. All sorted alphabetically!

I actually worked with the dev of the app to get it to work on honeycomb. I no longer use it because I use go launcher, but it definitely works great to sort the app drawer.
Hi all
I'm using DZO's Aurora ROM since 1.10 or so.
Very happy with it, only issues i felt are with Nova Launcher
sometimes it lags a lot, home takes a long time to get...
I changed to stock launcher, and it seems much better - but i hate it
Is anyone using Aurora with a different launcher? and how do you feel about it?
Thanks
Apex Launcher is pretty good for customising. I think I started using it to get rid of the persistent Google search bar.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452663
is there a way to copy my NovaLauncher settings rapidly to Apex?

Don't know, sorry. Haven't found anything on teh interwebs...
I use Go Laucher (multilingual) and it's the most easier and customizable to use.
I like the option to create folders and organize aps on the drawer, like a folder for games, call, internet, travel, admin, tools, etc...
I tried many launchers and to me, this one is the best.
I use Go Launcher EX for a week now and i find it very easy and fun to customize. It does ofc have shortcomings too. It has made the phone a bit slower for example. But that may be cause its running on stock froyo (the phone is rather new) and when I get the time to root and install a better rom it will be better.
I prefer stock launcher. No lags and super speed
One thing that annoyed me deeply under Gingerbread was the fact that I would carefully arrange my apps icons along the apps pages, as I needed them to be, only to find out, a couple of days later, that the system "rearranged" some of them by its own will.
I struggled with this a bit and then just gave up thinking that the move to Honeycomb would solve the problem.
It didn't!...I am having the exact same problem with this new 7.7
Is there a solution to this?
It is kind of critical that icons stay where we want them to when their number starts to proliferate...This is exactly the kind of thing that can give Android a bad name, in what respects to user-friendliness......I don't think iOs suffers from a shortcoming as basic as this one...

Are you using a different launcher or still TouchWiz? If you aren't try any of the better known launchers (i'm using Go Launcher HD).

I am staying with TW until ICS comes around...I intend to change it afterwards.
Am I to understand that this specific problem is "launcher-dependent" ?
Thanks!
XK
In my experience, the icon self-rearrangement happened when I go to the "My apps" or "Frequent" pages. In other words, as long as I remain in the "All" page, the icons seem to stay without this self-arrangement.
I use a program called appzorter for this. It works well in keeping the TW launcher and my sanity.

From what i've noticed. The app drawer is part of the launcher, so it would reason why I haven't seen it happen in the other launchers i've tried (I also noticed this in TouchWiz with the Tab 7 Plus I tried before going to the 7.7).
If you are willing to switch to a different launcher after ICS, I strongly suggest you try before hand. If nothing else, it doesn't hurt to try, they can be easily removed.

No, it seems to work ok, under HC...
It sorts out the apps in alphabetical order and further allows to group them into separate "System" and "Installed" groups, if wanted.
For the moment, it will do...
(Thanks Robroy90!)

There came a point for me where the app drawer was not useful due to all my apps. Instead I use folder organizer and put my apps in specific folders.
Originally i put those folders on my desktop/docks but realized they were redundant after i added them to a SwipePad panel.
Now my desktops and docks are less cluttered and i only need to swipe in from the side of the screen to get instant access to my apps organized in those folders. I ignore my drawer now.
Hey guy's. so i installed Timur's Host USB ROM on my Google Nexus 7 3G tablet. i'm setting it up now and have a very stupid problem on my hands. i know i should be able to fix it, but i can't seem to figure it out.
I installed Gapps for my setup and installed a lot of apps. the apps automatically put a shortcut on my homescreen. the problem is i have apps appearing off the screen of my nexus. seems as though theres an extra row/column thats allowing apps to be placed, but isn't visible on my tablet screen. i've tried adjusting the row/columns to the lowest setting, but to no avail. actually seems like that setting doesn't actually change any settings. whats wrong and going on?

In google play, go to settings and disable auto add shortcut. For the extra rows, i would install a different launcher, like apex or nova.

So what your saying is there's no fix?/I'm not an idiot? I just have to download a new launcher over the 1 I have now?
I've had some experience with apex and know it pretty well. Never tried nova. What would people recommend?
Since I am not running that rom, i have no idea if there is a fix. But, a new launcher would fix it. I never use a stock rom launcher anyways. I always use Nova. I havent tried GO launcher lately, as it was a little laggy after jb. It is probably fixed by now though.
If you post the link to timurs rom, or pm it to me, i will add it to my multiboot and play with the launcher.

Cool deal. I just installed it a few minutes ago. Time for me to build a y-cable! Now if timur would incorporate kexec support into his kernels, it would be perfect. Cant live without multirom, lol. Anyways, glad you got it figured out.
