Tried to turn on my nook this morning to be greeted by a empty battery with electric bolt icon. I plugged it in to the stock charger and it goes into an endless boot loop that I cant pull it out of. I've tried booting to recovery and holding power till it shuts down.
I left it on the charger for a few hours now it sticks on the skateboarding android with the spinning arrow. Booting to recovery takes me to a blank screen.
sounds like you should probably do a reinstall if you cant even get that far.. You should be able to keep data and just reinstall your rom through cwm on a bootable sd card. Worst comes to worst, just start over, but that should do it for you...
Don't know if this helps or not but I had the same problem the other day after falling asleep reading. After letting it charge for about 4 hours I checked it and got nothing but the same screen and really thought I messed something up with my cable so called for a replacement. Figuring what the heck, I left it to charge the rest of the day thinking I couldn't use it till I got the new cable anyway. That night I checked it out and it was charged. My cable is messed up (can't connect to the computer with it) and it does take a bit longer to charge but at least I can use it while waiting for the new cable.

Everytime I accidently let the battery die. I have to re do the manual nooter which I loose all of my apps and the info on them. At first I thought it was B&N doing their force update but my Nook today still says 1.2 so I guess it didn't update.
The Goof
I think at some point my boot sector got corrupted (probably due to low voltage) and had to make a boot disk to reinstall CWM followed by CM7. Everything runs great now.
I know this is Old but thsi is the Solution
When the nook gets below 5% charge it does not have enough juice to boot up enough to check the battery status.
I don't know why putting cm7 on it causes this issue but it just does not know it is low to display low bat and go into idle to charge.
Instead it tries to start up as normal and sucks the little tiny charge it got in a few seconds up and causes it to deplete the battery.
and it repeats over and over.
The answer is if you pull the battery out it resets it's last known battery state to 0% and will no longer try to boto but instead displays the low bat logo and then idles to charge as normal.
So you need to open it up and pull out the wire that connects to the battery, wait a minute for good measure and then plug the wire back in and put everything together again.
the next time you plug it in you will see low bat and it will shut off and stay off and start charging as normal.

On my TMOUS HD2 I am running a build of Desire 2.2
Its been working great for the better part of a week.
The only kind of problem I have been having with it is when it dies, I would sometimes need to pull out the battery before it would once more charge.
But that really wasnt a big deal for me, my thinking was, well i'll just start charging it before it dies.
Last night I was up playing angry birds and the battery became pretty low, so I called it a night and I pluged it in to my Chome Notebook for an over night charge.
When I woke up this morning my phone will no longer turn on.
My first thought was my notebook lost power and in turn the phone never charged, but that wasnt it.
The I thought maybe the notebook didnt send out enough power to charge the phone ( I have charged it through this notebook before ) so I plugged it into the wall and the charge light just blinked... almost as if it had a full charge.
I went to boot it up and it only flashed my boot screen before shutting off again.
After I repeated this I would eventually get to the MAGLDR, but right after it would shut off.
I took the battery out for about a minute this next time and I was able to boot all the way to the DFT screen, but it shut off yet again.
I checked to see if I could get into the bootloader screen, and I could, but it still shuts off when I get in there.
So currently.... I have it with the battery out for another half hour before I try booting again.
Ok, its been 1 hour now I put the battery back in. When I pushed the power button it didnt do anything. But when I pluged it in, it turned on to the boot screen and once more turned off.
But a few seconds after that the charging light came on.
I am going to leave it like that for a bit and see where it gets me.
Right now, I have it charging from the wall. I will leave it there for an hour or 2.

atm you can't charge the phone with magldr installed when the phone is off.

I don't believe that is the actually problem.
I had left the phone on the charger for the past hour and a half and just started it up, and to my surprise it loaded all the way back into android and showed that it was actually charging.
I guess.... maybe it was slowly dieing over night because it was not getting enough charge from the notebook.
And when I woke up and check my phone it was so drained it couldn't even boot past the boot screen.
Last night my battery completely drained so I charged it over night and when I went to power it on it says booting WPH go go go, boots to the HTC green logo screen and powers off. I have been running WP7 flawlessly for 3 weeks now and have not had this problem before. I don't really want to reflash right now because I'm hoping there's a way to salvage everything in the phone.
Are you sure the battery charged last night...reason I ask is...when it completely drains the battery wont charge when the phone is off due to Magldr.

same exact thing just happened to me. I'm going to start from scratch and redo it.
I am curious to know as to what caused this, it's very odd since the ROM has been working flawlessly.
your not restarting with usb cable attached are you?
how did you charge your battery? external charger?
there is some talk that charging in magldr usb flasher mode works dispite no status lights BUT its unclear if the battery controller will auto cut off when full, overcharging could shag your battery
oh a while back i had some odd restart issue too, pretty much as you have mentioned, happened 4 times in a row then worked

Me as well, about an hour ago, my battery drained, so I plugged it in, and the phone keeps restarting, but then powers off...
I've kept it on the AC for the past hour, and now it no longer hit's the magldr, it just flashes the screen black, then dies...
Is there a way to JUST CHARGE my battery? Without having it in the phone?

if you cant even get to magldr then your looking at an external charger, you could try connecting up an old usb cable directly to the battery but be very careful!
This happened to my old HD2 after I gave it to my sister once I got my HD7, to enable it to charge again all I did was remove cable, remove battery. Re-insert battery and attach cable, hold down the volume down button on the side of the handset and press the power button.
The phone will turn on and show the tri-color screen. Leave it on this screen for 20 minutes and the battery will charge, then simply reboot and you will be able to boot back in to Windows Phone 7.

They will send it back to me next week. It seems that it was a production failure.

I do have a big problem with my Defy.
I updated the CM9 onto the newest version and had to activate my google-acc. I didnt finish the smartphone registration and put my Defy to the side. Today morning the battery was empty and I reloaded the battery. After that I turned the device on but the only thing it shows is a black screen with stripes (even in cwm and bootloader). Does anyone know how to fix my Defy??? The Defy boots completely but the screen remains crappy ;(

The phone will do its regular boot up until showing you the battery icon again. when the battery icon is there, PULL the BATTERY out of the phone (the charger cable is still connected to the phone). the phone will reboot itself with the correct screen usually, if it doesnt boot itself, quickly pull charger cable and reconect it again (with the battery still detached from your phone).
mind you if you get to the okay screen, this will not boot your phone, this will bring you as far to the battery icon with a question mark (we know for sure is just battery issue now). regardless screen is okay or not, proceed to step 3.
3. turn off phone, battery out of the phone, and press the power button for 30 seconds. release power button and re-insert battery and boot. tips:
battery empty is for step 1 only, steps 2 and 3 needs power form the battery.
You can actually go to step 3 if you wishes, but my experience is by using step 2, it will talke less retry until i boot with the okay screen (i need to do this everytime i restart the phone mind you, so its a daily thing) .
the LAST tip: there no rules of thumb on how many retries it needs, if you have been retrying for 20 minutes on step 3 with no avail, revert back to step 1 or 2 and retry step 3. If this is sill fails, then you might need to consider purchasing a new battery, or take it for a repair!
Im still waiting for my new battery, but now it only takes me 5-6 tries before it boots correctly, in the apst it took me 15 minutes of constantly retrying so be patient, but still need to set a line when to give up!

heres what i did to completly discharge it...after the phonse turned off automatically due to battery running out, it still have around 2% in it so reboot and enter 2ndinit/boot loader. let it stay there until the phone turned off on its own again. in 2nd init, the phone wont turn off screen so it will continue using whatever is left in the battery. keep n mind that even at very small amount of juice left, this process can takes up 2hrs or more.

There are so many people who want their battery to last as long as possible and now I want to get it empty a quick as possible XD Irony
Since 26th December 1004 pm my Defy runs with one single battery charge XD I think thats a pretty good battery life for a smartphone ;D
If your tips don't work I will sent it back to Amazon and hopefully they send me a new one or repair my old one.

Thanks a lot, a mix of these two works for me !
My problem arise after a month that I switched off defy for replacing it with a new smartphone (Xiaomi M2S).
I removed battery to force it to switch off, because I couldn't see anything.
I replaced the battery, I connected the phone to charger and after ten seconds (more or less) I removed the battery.
At this point I can see the Motorola logo. I've re-inserted the battery and it shows that it is at 97%.
For sure, the lcd is working
This was what happened - my N2T went dead, and I charged it up to 100%. It has previously been rooted with TouchNooter, and since my market wouldn't open, I overrooted it with TouchSalsa. Or so I remember. It may be different. I just remember that I used 2 different roots over each other. Didn't think anything would happen...
Anyways, all was fine and dainty with the N2T till the day the battery's charge was depleted. Charged it to full - Battery Indicator went green - and then proceeded to unlock it.
It was still responding at the lock screen, but once I unlocked it, it went straight to my Android home screen, and it just hanged. It has been showing the Android homescreen for quite a while now (probably due to the static e-ink screen, I believe it has died for a long long time), and nothing I do will make it reboot. I thought about forcing the battery out, but it was not user removable.
n2T-recovery wouldn't work too, as I can't make it reboot.
Any answers as to how I could make it rebott and/or restore the firmware like how I could force an iDevice into DFU mode?
Any help would be appreciated, as I imported this device into my country and it is not possible for me to send it back .
If anyone has encountered this problem before, feel free to shout out here too. My Nook Simple Touch has died for around 2 weeks now. I was hoping that the battery would run out and I could charge it but.... the battery indicator STILL shows green when I plug it in.
Also, whenever I plug it into my computer, the connected sound that happens when you plug in a USB drive just sounds - followed immediately by the disconnect sound. This happens in a loop until I plug out the Nook.
Try disconnecting the battery (by opening the nook) ...

Same issue, i already open the cover and remove battery, the screen still display screensaver. Then I plugged NT into wall charger , then removed (to try make it reboot). Plugged battery into again but , plugged charger . But nothing happened, still the same.
Any other solution?
Just a hint: It appears that the Nook won't boot without the battery in.
I don't know if it's an interlock with the temperature sensor on the battery.
The chip that does the power management is capable of powering a CPU with a dead/shorted/missing battery.
Guess no one had a similar issue?
It is the same with my NST. It was bricked when I root it back to factory restore. The battery light is green, do everything you did to the battery, still no respond. I am not in the US so I can not take my NST to the local B&N store.
I get my NST only 1 week...

I recently acquired a Defy and immediately installed CM11 on it. My main phone is a Nexus 4 and one of its best features is that even if the battery is completely drained, if plugged into the wall charger it will immediately boot up. The iPhone I had before would show a low battery screen until it reached around 10%, at which point it would finally boot.
It seems that when the Defy battery drops below 15-20%, it will not boot at all - pressing the power button does nothing. I plug it into the mains and the usual white light does not show. It still seems to charge and I can eventually boot into recovery to see that power has reached around 20%. At this point if I disconnect from the charger the phone usually boots up. I haven't had it long enough to troubleshoot extensively but I think that while plugged into the wall it is less likely to boot successfully. An unsuccessful boot starts with the Motorola logo, then the screen goes black and the buttons flash once, at which point the boot fails.
Is this at all similar to the experiences of anyone else, or could it be a battery / firmware problem?

Have you tried to remove battery, insert it again and then try to boot?
I had the same problem once, I'm on cm10.2. Maybe we should replace the battery, I always charge it before reaches 30%
