Hey my led is always red and it doesnt turn off at all. the device is not damaged by water or stuff like that. WHAT the hell?
I've got a similar problem, if not the same:
When I turn off my phone and charge it via USB/AC Power, the LED becomes red (which is normal, to charge) but when it is fully charged it is still red and the phone will not turn on. Only when I remove the battery and the LED turns off will the phone turn on. When the phone is on and I charge this does not happen.
Any suggestions? Nothing is wrong with the phone, just this.
Yeah, same thing. it's always on and always red. I've tried reflashing but that didn't help at all.

This problem has been partially solved. You need to change your Clockworkmod version with this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014498
It will allow you to charge your phone while it's off and when you finished charging the red led will turn off. But unfortunately the red led will not become green when it's fully charged. At least you don't need to remove the battery to power on your phone. Hope it is helpful.
latest nightly #256 has working off mode charging and led turning to green at 90% charge, but keeps charging til 100%.
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=buzz
I got the same problem! I thought I was the only one with that problem
What do I need to get it working? Only the Cyanogenmod nightly or also the custom Clockworkmod?
Offmode charging bug is a clockwork bug not cm7, I'm using clockwork recovery 5.0.2.6 and no longer have the bug.
Try upgrading cwm.

OK thanks, I will try updating CWM
I thought I was the only one too
Edit: Mine cannot flash this, I'm not sure why though. Some people were saying use it in unrevoked but i've already rooted my phone!

Hi i have rooted my wildfire from 2.1 to 2.2 froyo and since i've make this, when i charge with the phone off, the phone freezes: the phone will not turn on and the green led is not seen but only red led which remains on. I am forced to remove the battery every time I turn on the phone after charging.
How can i fix this? I have also tried to flash other radio images, but without success.
Who can help me?
It is a known bug of clockworkmod and there is no fix as of now. This persists even in v3.x

actually try pressing the power button and trackpad button both at the same time, that might turn it on.

Did you already try to wipe your battery stats? It's in recovery > wipe > wipe battery stats.
Hey guys, I have a Optimus San Francisco (Portuguese version of the ZTE Blade) and I've been having some serious problems with its battery.
Ever since I rooted it and flashed some custom ROMs, I have never been able to properly calibrate the battery. No matter if I use the Battery Calibration app or Clockwork Mod, the phone will simply NOT charge the battery to 100%. It will stop at 66% or some other random number. In the (very) rare occasions that I did get it up to 100%, the issues remained.
No matter what I try, the problem persists. I bought a new battery from ebay (just arrived, today) and, to eliminate any possible source, flashed a new ROM (I started on SS RLS5, went to CM7.1 Beta, CM7 Stable, and am now on GLS beta 22).
Just like an hour ago or something I flashed GLS beta 22, wiped user and cache partitions and wiped battery stats. I put the new battery in (was about empty), it booted and was at 1%. I connected it to the charger (remember, no batterystats.bin) and it didn't go past 1%. Then, it powered off. Right now it's supposedly charging while powered off, with the red LED.
Any ideas? Seriously, I haven't been able to use this phone on day-to-day basis for MONTHS.
Might be that your hw is faulty. Is the led working? The led should change from red to green when the charge is over 90%.
Here are the battery calibration steps you could still try:
1.Connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green, indicating the device is fully charged.
2.Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off.
3.Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green.
4.Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on.
5.Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the notification LED is green.
6.Disconnect the phone, power it on in clockwork recovery, and wipe batt stats. You need to use this sequence only once.
Yes, while tinkering with this new ROM I tried a "LED test" and the LED did flash red and green.
I've seen those instructions and the problem is, the battery percentage gets stuck at a certain level and will not get past that. So, the LED is always red.
Apparently I solved the problem by using another USB cable and my set top box's USB. Looks like the problem was in ZTE's charger.
After flashing Quarx's JB 25.10 rom, my phone ran i to trouble. Now, it won't boot. I when I plug in the phone into an outlet, the charging light won't come on but oddly, the phone turns on and goes to the Motorola logo at boot. Then it stays there. I've since lost the original cable that came with the defy if that matters. When I plug the phone into the USB of my computer to charge, the charging LED comes on. But after some time, the phone turns on and goes to the Motorola logo and stays there with the charging LED off. Some time latter, the phone will turn back off and the charging LED will come back on. And then the cycle repeats with the phone turning on to the Motorola logo.
When I hold the up volume and power button, I get a message saying battery is too low to program so I can't even get to flashing a new SBF from RSDLite. Help?

Had this problem with first 2ndboot builds, but it should be resolved in later updates... For me charge mode works fine on 10.18 +10.25update.
Anyway you can try starting the phone without the battery, with moto charger:
1: pull out battery
2: connect charger to mains
3: connect charger USB cable to phone
4: phone should power up automatically, and boot to CM10
5: once the phone booted to CM10, you can put the battery back, and charge it
This method worked for me, hope it will work for you too!

It's stuck at the Motorola logo. After I had the problem, I reinstalled CM10 but the phone abrubtly shut off mid install. That may of caused some problems.

You mean a computer USB to phone USB cable charging? That doesn't help. The moment I plug the phone in, the white LED ligth blinks once quickly but the phone won't even turn on to the Motorola Logo.
No, he means a separate batt charger, where you can put the battery in.

Please ask all questions in the Q&A section. Thread moved there.
So why would flashing a custom ROM cause problems with charging?
Phone was on about 60%. Plugged in the charger, downloaded Bricked Kernel to add to my r11 Modaco Cyanogenmod rom. Ran antutu and the screen went to the charger symbol. Pressed the power button then the charger symbol went and the red light started flashing.
Read up on here and tried the volume up + power for 60 seconds and plugged in the charger. Nothing
Tried volume down + power for 60 sends and plugged in the charger - Google symbol then into bootloader. This allowed me to get into teamwin, where I could recover my backed up image. Pressed reboot. Nothing just the red light again.
Been on a 1.5a charger for over an hour and still flashing
I'm now trying the charger in recovery mode.
I would take the back off and disconnect the Battery but my darling Mrs has had a clearout so I don't have the right screwdrivers :/
Anyone had this particular combo?
Had the red led ligth too after flashing some roms and testing it out. It powers off and shows the red led. Nothing works. I noticed that my n4 was very hot so i let it cool down for about 3 hours. After that all was fine and my n4 booted up normal. Had a heart attack as i see this red led. I think it is becouse the n4 is overheating but dont know. Hope that helps you

I did notice it was hot when it first happened. Its been a while now though and certainly feels cool to touch.
When I do boot into bootloader or recovery, as soon as I unplug the charger it turns off again. :/
Perhaps I'll leave it longer (in the fridge ) and try it again

It sounds that your battery seems to be defect. I know that some one on xda says that removing the backcover and then remove the battery and plug it in again solve that for him. Dont have the link right now but there is a thread about the red led issue. Try to Google it a bit

Thanks again
I found that thread but am currently missing the right screwdrivers to remove the back. That's for tomorrow when I can pick some up from the phone shop. Damned piece of crap LG nonsense. First no USB OTG and now this!!
Battery is definitely munged. Whenever I manage to get into Recovery (TWRP) tha clock is always back at 12:00.
Soon as I unplug the charger, even after an hour or so, it shuts down. After a full night just on charge, just the flashing red light, no response to pressing the power button.
Just gone through the Google replacement process, but being Thursday evening it will probably be Monday at the earlier before it turns up.
On a lighter note I stuck CM 10.1 on my wifes SGS. Apart from being smaller, slower and with a quarter of the memory, the Helium back restored without a hitch and I have virtually the same experience .....
I will acknowledge from the get-go that this is probably my fault entirely. I was quite tired and fell asleep but in the mean time, I was doing a nandroid backup of my phone - which at the time was running stock rom and stock kernel. I actually had just done the factory reset on the phone too. But my phone is rooted and has the unlocked bootloader. Anyways, I left it on my table while it was backing up, I saw the progress bar and everything was working fine and dandy but this is when I fell asleep. It was on an ac wall charger overnight and I woke up to find it flashing the red light when plugged in only.
So from looking around, some people have said it is the case where the phone is completely discharged and to have it charging for a while, but I'm not sure if this applies to me since I already had it on charge the whole night? What's my situation here?
In any case, I'll be going out to buy my tools, would it just be the T5 Torx screwdriver?
Edit: When the phone is plugged into any charger the red flashing light is persistent, however I did notice that when I plugged it in via usb and my computer, I first got a glimpse at the white battery charging screen for a moment, then the phone would return back to its red flashing
Anyone?
Just from playing around it more I realized that, ONLY when plugged via usb to my computer, I will get that initial solid red light, then the screen with the battery and lightning bolt.
****I realized that if I held the power button on that battery screen, the phone appears to boot up, and I get the black page with "Google", for a short moment then it shuts off and resumes flashing the red light.
Is it because theres not enough charge to fully boot the phone? I already had it plugged in overnight so this really didn't make sense to me.
And I don't know if it the phone actually charges when I have it plugged in and the red light is flashing.
Take the back off and unplug, replug the battery

Instead of trying to boot the phone up, try to get into recovery. Most people that had this type of issue managed to get into recovery and from there reboot..
If that doesn't work, and you manage to get into the recovery, do your wipes, or flash another rom.
If i were you i'd try all those lil tricks, if nothing works, then i'd be thinking about taking the back plate off and unpluging the battery.

How would I get into recovery? Do you mean by holding the power and volume down? I was sure I tried all other ways of holding the power but the most it will give me is the google screen.

Yes, you said that at the battery screen holding power will get you to the google logo, but if you tried holding power+vol down and it's not working, then i guess u don't have much options here..
