[Q] How to get back to 2.2 from 2.3? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi,
Is there any safe way to go back to 2.2 from 2.3?
I tried to copy all old files in /image, replaced recovery.img with the one from CWM for 2.2, but still cannot boot into CWM.
Might be flashing 2.2 stock ROM will work, but I cannot find a link to download that.
Could someone please help?

Maybe you can try with this 2.3.5 recovery:

I downgraded via stock firmware without problems, PM me if you can't find any of the stock 2.2-firmwares...

DaCrap! I cannot get into CWMOD recovery for anything in the world!!

Flashed back to stock 2.1 and can't get into CWMOD recovery despite the fact that I'm rooted. I'm getting so damn frustrated. Can anyone help me?
I get this error on reinstall packages that says it failed (bad)
What's up?
First, I couldn't get out of 3e stock after manually replacing the update.zip..... Now I can't get out of 2e stock for the same reason.
Why does it seem like I'm the only person here who can't make this work?? I've read everything on the Bible thread. Tried every tip, and I just can't get out of the stock recovery and into CWMOD recovery, so I'm about to give up and just chuck the idea of custom ROMs.
Please, somebody.... give me a ray of hope here. I've been struggling with the stupid recovery issue since day one.
Try Odin back to stock again...then download and install ROM Manager...flash ClockworkMod Recovery...reboot into recovery...hit reinstall packages if sent to stock recovery.....simple as that
Sent from my XDA app cuz I'm stalking your mom....
How did you flash back to recovery, tell us what you did...
I would odin to stock froyo + root, d/load rm and flash cwr like ^ stated.
did you Flash Clockwork again? To the latest?

Reverting to 2.2 from 2.3 w/ bootloader

Hi all,
I apologize for what must be a noobish question, but I've installed the latest 2.3 stock rom with the bootloader (because I was coming from 2.2). Unfortunately I'm unable to revert to any 2.2 roms now (either stock or from the Rom Kitchen). I get a strange blue message that flashes on the screen (only shows partial "reboot" word). Then the phone reboots and takes me back into 2.3 as if I did a factory reset.
So how do I revert my bootloader so that I can install 2.2 roms again?
Thanks!
Edit: To clarify, I've use Clockwork Recovery to flash a 2.2 Rom Kitchen rom and also Odin to flash a stock 2.2 PDA image, both just rebooted the phone back into 2.3.
Edit 2: In the off-chance I'm wrong about the bootloader being the problem, can someone point me to a 2.2 stock rom (or near-stock custom rom) that includes an appropriate modem/csc? Thanks!
Edit 3: Just tried flashing a 2.3 rom kitchen rom in Clockwork - same problem. Guess it's not the bootloader, but I'm stumped now.
hey.. as i know.. u need to flash a stock firmware of 2.2.1 or 2.2.. with odin..not just pda, also pit and with re-partion.
after that, flash some kernel with CWM and then the rom.

Thats what i just done .
Flash Eclair with repartition and pit 512 through Odin >> Flashed Froyo no pit no repartition .
Replaced with old custom rom .

Thanks guys, I more or less figured it out. I needed to flash the modem/csc in Odin along with a 2.2 PDA image. I mistakenly hoped that a 2.3 modem/csc could be used with a 2.2 PDA.
Thanks!

[Q] Bad Restore - PLEASE HELP

Hello, i did something wrong while trying to flash an ics custom rom on my vibrant phone, before to flash the ics rom i had an old froyo with android 2.2 with the old bootloader, i didn't notice that to flash the ics i had to first update to cm7 than update the bootloader and finally flash the ics rom. So, after flashed the ics the phone got stuck in the boot sequence and i had the bad idea to restore back the old froyo rom but i ended up to a totaly useless device, it doesn't boot anymore and stays stuck on the vibrant boot logo.
Please has anyone any idea if i can get out of this situation and flash back the original rom or at least any rom that works? I also can't reach the recovery menu anymore, i don't really know what to do! I Hope for someone can help me!
Thank You!
You can use Odin to restore it to stock, download the pit and tar file from here and flash it with Odin while the phone is in download mode: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319802
Then use these steps to root and cwm: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
Thank you so much bro, it worked like a charm!!!
Cheers
You should check out my guide on how to install ics. Has all the steps and some that the video missed.
Also you need to take care when restoring as GB and ICS roms are partitioned differently therefore restoring something like the /data portion of your nandroid will cause 9 kinds or hell for you. And don't even get me going about the one full/fool proof way to brick your phone-the bootloader mismatch.

[Q] Need help with installing ICS on Defy+

I recently bought Defy+ with 2.3.5. and i want to install ICS but i don't understand a thing about SBF files, Nandroid stuff. Rooting and installing custom ROM-s doesn't seem to be a problem only this thing about upgrading and downgrading SBF is what I dont understand.
Can anybody explain me in simplest way what are SBF files and how to put ICS on my phone.
This is what SBF's are all about.
And this is how to flash CM9 ICS.
Ok, but would i be able to put my stock ROM back after i install that ICS?
Just stay away from flashing SBF files and you'll be fine and will always be able to go back to stock.
NB! The only SBF you should ever flash, is your STOCK SBF! If you obey this rule, you'll be just fine
P.S. This post was written in font size 7 for a reason and the reason is not that I'm yelling. It's just because many people here listen to other newby's, advising them to flash this or that SBF and then can't go back. It's for your own good, guys
First go and find your stock(faktory)rom then look if you have red(bayer) or green (SOC) camera lens
root your phone
install 2nd init or use twrp from goo-inside or goomanager app
Boot into cwm recovery
Make a backup of your stock rom
Now you can go back via recovery system to your own setup whenever you want to
Just wipe data , look for the right kernel and restore your backup
You can flash your orginal sbf with rsd lite whenever you want and your phone is nearley like a new one.
Maybe some infos are stored on phone what you have flashed on
Said by moto service center gerany
If youre speak german look ib android-hilfe.de
You do all fron your own risk
Sent from my multiboot cm9+ms2ginger4 beta MB525 red lens using XDA App
So I do this:
1. Root phone
2. Install 2nd init
3.Backup of my stock ROM
And than install ICS like it is explained here.
And if I want to return stock ROM I just find backup file on my computer and install it with rsd lite.
No need to backup your original ROM - that's what your stock SBF is for By flashing it, you will return your original system, that was installed by Motorola and will remove 2nd init, root and all traces of ever manipulating your phone

That's the safest way! However, you can't always find your original SBF (e.g. my original rom is 45.0.74.MB526.Retail.en.DE, 4.5.1-134 DFP-74).
You can download the available SBF for defy+ here: h**p://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php
So if i want to take my phone to service i just download 2.3.5 Motorola Stock ROM and flash it like normal.
What is difference between flashing ROM and SBF files?
And you told me that only SBF i should flash is my stock SBF but want i change my SBF files when i flash ICS?
I have a nandroid of the stock rom that came with my phone.. how do I see what build version it is? Im on cm7.2. I cant restore it because of hash errors. So if i find out build info i can flash that particular sbf

If you flash just the ROM, the kernel and the other files will be the same and most important you won't burn eFuses, so you'll be able to come back to older version.

Auris 1.6 vvt-i told you to flash your stock SBF to avoid burning eFuses and because in this way you will never have problems with warranty (some versions could be not available in your country). You don't need to flash full SBF before upgrading to ICS, just check the kernel and flash the right version.

Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878 flash one of these roms and you are full stock. Pick the ICS rom if you want ( decrypt it with decrypted if needed , see the same post) put the update zip on your tablet flash it with cwm.
Your root will be gone , recovery will be stock and you will have stock ICS bootloader.
Why you want that is beyond me, but you can also flash full stock full root if you want a full stock rom but still have the liberty to do what you want.
