To use the amazon appstore, you just need an international credit card and a US address (The credit card doesn't need to be legit if you just want the free aps)
also, you could root your device and install the android market

[Q] Rooted Nook Color 1.2: Amazon App Store Purchases Failed

Good Day
I just rooted my nook color 1.2 and everything works fine. I successfully downloaded Amazon's app store, now I when I attempt to download an app from the Amazon App Store (Kindle, Angry Birds, Bible ect) all say "Purchase Failed".
I tried this with a blank SD Card installed and without.
I've clicked an unclicked allow no market apps under nook tools.
I've attempted to search here and I have been unsuccessful.
Would someone please lend me a hand?
Thanks in advance
Okay so after playing around with it, I have to purchase it online then download through the app store. I cannot purchase and download it from the app store app in the nook.
Sorry for my ignorance.

I have no trouble using the app store app to install or purchase apps directly from my nook.
Your original post left me confused about whether you have the "allow non-Market installs" checked or not.
How did you root your nook?
I am having the same issue. I used to be able to installs Apps from Amazon. However, as of about a week or two ago, whenever I go to install it, I receive an error message that says, "Application Not Installed". I rooted using MN 4.5.6.
Keep in mind that most apps downloaded from Amazon require the Amazon App itself to be installed. Have read that this was uncovered recently.
If this is what you were referring to that is.
I'm having same problem... Mine says problem parsing package.. My android market is very limited and doesn't download either! Can anyone help me?

Correct way of loading Amazon Appstore?

I currently have CM7 loaded on my Color and was able to install the Amazon Appstore today along with todays free app but I'm not sure I went about doing it correctly. I was only prompted to install instead of install package. Can someone point me in the right direction to install the Amazon Appstore please? It would be very much appreciated. Most of the help I’ve come across when searching for the correct way is for the tablet and not the color. Thanks so much.

I'm sort of lost about what you're asking, but here's the easiest way start to finish:
1) register on amazon for the appstore. They'll send you an email with a link
2) on your tablet, click the link. it will download the appstore automatically. When the download is done (in the bar at the bottom of the tab), click it and install the apk.
3) now you should have the appstore. open it and put in your amazon user/pass and you're off.

All non Amazon apps on the App Menu

I found a way to have al the sideloaded apps to appear on the app menu on fire tv. All you need to do is install amazon appstore for android (you can download it on the amazon's website). Sideloading does not work for this purpose. What i did was installed dropbox and added thea pk to it and installed from threre. Now go to the App Menu and MAGIC happens, you will get list of al the installed apps on it. DOWNSIDE: YOU WILL LOSE THE ORIGINAL AMAZON APPSTORE THAT CAME WITH AFTV, BUT DONT WORRY YOU CAN ALWAYS GO BACK TO ORIGINAL STYLE JUST BY UNISTALLING THE AMAZON APPSTORE YOU INSTALLED AND RESTARTING THE DEVICE. Don't forget to say thanks.

[Extension] APK Downloader for Amazon Appstore

Hi there,
I'm redphx, author of the original APK Downloader for Google Play.
Last year I asked if you guys want a similiar extension but for Amazon Appstore, and seemed like some of you may use it, so I decided to take some time to make it.
Today I released APK Downloader for Amazon Appstore. It's still in beta state, so I need you guys to test it. You can see how to use it by watching this demo video
Some notes:
- Only tested with amazon.com domain, Chrome 43 for Mac.
- Upon logging in, this extension will add a new Android device with Samsung S5's specs into your Appstore account. This means you can't download exclusive apps for Kindle. In later versions I'll add more devices.
- You can't download incompatible apps or paid apps, even you own it, but you still can download FAotD apps.
- All downloaded files will be saved in <DOWNLOAD_FOLDER>/appstore-apk-downloader/ folder.
[to be updated...]
Note: This extension is still in beta state. If it doesn't work for you, please don't leave bad review but contact me instead (since I can't reply to your review). Thanks.
Hope you'll find it useful
Sorry for my English.
we are in a hurry to download spotify for fire tv. thanks
I tried it out and it said the app was incompatible (turns out it was a kindle exclusive.) but after that the download apk button wouldn't show up anymore.

is it because of my Chinese billing address? but If I am an American, I would download the Apps directly , no need the plug-in. I got confused.

This is great but could you please make it so Fire TV apps can be downloaded.
i get this error
Incompatible app extension
how to fix this?
I need this to work to get fire tv apps in my nexus player.
Not working. I don't see any «Download APK» button!
would you please add the option to recognize the downloader as kindle fire devide and/or fire TV? cause some app is only available for kindle (like official youtube) and not compatible with '2nd android device', in this case, it can't be downloaded.
I tried to download a amazon fire tv app and it didnt work
any chance to download FireTV only Apps with this extension?
Furthermore, will it get support for german Amazon App Store?

For the German (and French and...) App Store: There is just an error in the manifest.json file.
Just change the URLs in the two "matches" arrays from
Code:
"*://*.amazon.com.de/*",
to
Code:
"*://*.amazon.de/*",
and
Code:
"*://*.amazon.com.de/gp/yourstore/home*",
to
Code:
"*://*.amazon.de/gp/yourstore/home*",
I'm trying to install it manually ("load upacked extension"), like described on the page, but Chrome doesn't allow it.
Error message:
---
Error Loading Extension:
Failed to load extension from: ~\Downloads\a
Appstore APK Downloader (extension ID "aepjngaoljfgobnongiemfiokjfkkblh") is blocked by the administrator.
---
Any hints how to install now?
Will this let you use the apks without having the amazon app store installed and logged in?
Wherever I tried manually backing them up from another phone, and using them with a different phone, they would not start, because it would call back to the store app, and tell me to install it before I could use it.
Solution
If the extension is not working (e.g. incompatible app extension). Use old portable versions of chrome.
Use this one: Google Chrome 43.0.2349.2 Portable
Hope you'll find it useful.

So, I've :
Downloaded the Portable Chrome you linked to
Logged in to Amazon
Set up the extension (says it is my 12th device! )
Gone to the app, clicked download and....
...Still getting incompatible app extension.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Push Get App then go back and refresh (F5) the page and you will see Download APK.
Which app you cant download?

Google play store

Hello. I tried using the toolbox to installthe Google play store. All the icons show up but it will not let me log in. Im in Canada and I remember reading a review about how watered down the Canadian version of this tablet is. Any suggestions? Thanks. Oh I also installed YouTube Vanced and the circle just spins and spins. I'm assuming this has to do with Google as well?

You have to use a free VPN for your Fire tablet using OpenVPN to fix this.
1. Download OpenVPN from APKPure and install it on your Fire tablet.
2. Then go to the VPNBook site and choose the country US on the Free OpenVPN section to download the ZIP file and unzip it.
3. Follow the instructions from VPNBook on how to set up OpenVPN.
4. And try to sign to your Google account and will work.
