Cyanogenmod. Thanks for the original ClockworkMod Recovery.

Nice going there! You used 2.35 kernel for this?
Also touchscreen not working anyway in recovery so that's not really a problem.
You are able to create/restore backups? Tried flashing any custom rom?
Also have a look at /tmp/recovery.log

Yeah, I extracted it from boot.img. I saw stockwell had this working, maybe he had a custom recovery kernel for that. The rebooting issue is making thing hard, I almost backed it up, but it rebooted, so that's the main problem. If I get that fixed, I'll try flashing/backup.
Also, in 2.2, I was able to just start the phone with volume down + power, to get to recovery, but in 2.3, this doesn't work for me. I can only get there when I use "adb reboot recovery".
-EDIT-
Got it working, thanks genti7. It starts with vol up + power.

Before my phone bricked i got that problem too with 2.3 stock i cant enter on recovery with key combo

its volume up + power not volume down + power. Try again.

Done any progress?

I don't have time today, will continue tomorrow. I realized that the /boot partition is wrong, can someone help me with this? Maybe the data one is wrong too, the logs say something about that. I'll post correct details tomorrow.

The reboot is probably because you aren't running the rmt_storage server. The modem needs this to run and so reboots the phone without it. The HW recovery mounts /system to run it which is a stupid idea because /system may not always be there. rmt_server needs some shared libs so you will have to copy them to the recovery image too.

Attached is a recovery that I made, it's v4 but should work. I just modified the hw recovery so it needs a working /system. Obviously there's nothing to flash yet (and you won't be able to flash the old ROMs because amss has changed). I don't intend to support this but feel free to try it out.

Dzo did you upgrade AMSS to 2.3.5 beta or did you stay on B138SP04?

You must upgrade amss for the new kernel to work, it also has a new bootloader. Attached is a boot.img that will give you root access with adb in the gb beta rom.

Hold on... maybe we have clockwork

well, about the CWM recovery, you can try the recovery Genokolar has released for the u8800+(or pro), it can work fine. I have tried it, and i have flashed a zip successfully!
PS: i am using u8800 (not u8800+), the official 2.3.5(u8800) has the same partition as u8800+.

[RECOVERY] 3e Recovery Modded w/ No Verification

NOTE
This is took from untermensch's thread in the Vibrant forum so I take no credit for this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423)
I have noticed some of you are having issues after installing a new kernel or rom, when you boot into recovery you now have 3e, which does not allow unsigned zips to be flashed. With this version of 3e it has no-verification check, now allowing you to flash whatever you want.
This zip has
1) 3e recovery modified to disable signature checking
2) disables the forced wipe after installing any update.
Instructions
1)Download and extract the file below
2)Use a terminal emulator or ADB shell and type.. (or you can use Root Explorer or SGSTools to mount system RW)
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/stl9 /system
3)Use a file manager like Root Explorer and copy the recovery file to /system/bin and replace the one there
4)Now, reboot and you should have a modded 3e recovery with no signature verification
You can either leave the modded 3e recovery or you can now flash CWM via Rom Manager
**Just like anything else, I am not responsible if this bricks your phone, this is fairly simple, follow the guide...Do at your own risk**
Old news, we have CWM now in pretty much everything.
Also you cannot just replace the recovery file... you have to replace the images in sbin or in the zImage its self, otherwise you get errors and cannot do anything.

I done the exact method above and works fine for me...
Place extracted recovery file in /system/bin/ , reboot and flash cwm via rom manager, works perfectly fine...the reason I posted was, if you read Hardcores thread, and seen this in other threads, that after flashing his kernel, when they goto recovery they now have 3e (depending on which method when entering recovery)..alot of people have done it the way I posted with no issues...im not trying to argue with you, you by far know more then me, just posting what worked for me and some others
sounds like a good idea for the people that updated to Rogers froyo that has the 3e recovery. You could just flash a new kernel, but this is definately a good alternative.
Thanks
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
If you look at Darkyy's rom he has a script that does this.
Thanks, this works flawlessly on a Rogers Froyo Stock. Now I have CWM working and good to go. The only thing left would be to apply some kind of lagfix.
Tested and works with Rogers 2.2 Rom. Thanks

Thanks
Works great on Rogers 2.2. Thanks
I tested it on Galaxy S i9000m bell and it work A+
i do not have to flash cf-boot to make unsigned zip to be installed
thanks a lot for your hard work.
only thing is botton function become different then original 3e
but its working A+
I'm a little confused on how the Recovery works..... I have a I897 that I flashed Cognition 2.3b8 to with ROM Manager/CWM and when I chose "reboot into recovery" from ROM Manager from inside Cognition, it worked fine after reloading packages once. A few days ago, I flashed Perception 10.1 with the firebird kernel. After noticing the battery didn't last as long as it used to with Cognition, I did some research and found the SpeedMod kernel K12L. Before I flashed it, I did a backup from ROM Manager which rebooted into CWM with no problems and did the backup with no problem. I have since flashed K12M and K12N. Now I thought I would give Cog 3.0 a shot and wanted to back up my current config with Perception 10.1/SpeedMod K12N. From ROM Manager, I chose to backup, named my backup and the phone rebooted into 3e Recovery and gave the errors you listed above but I don't understand why? Is it because of the I9000 kernel which doesn't make sense since Firebird is a I9000 kernel. Was it from flashing SpeedMod? Also noticed, that only the volume up/down buttons worked, not the power button which is also the select key. Only way out was to 3 button reboot (or pull the battery) which rebooted into CWM and then initiated the ROM Manager backup.
Any ideas why? Also, if I was to ODIN flash JH6 back to the phone, would that restore the Stock 2e Recovery? Sorry for the long post, but I'm still trying to learn this stuff and think you guys are awesome. The captivate would be a crappy phone if it wasn't for you all.
I guess if I had read your second post a little closer I would have seen that flashing SpeedMod causes it. I used your fix in the OP and when I tell it to "Reboot into Recovery" from ROM Manager, it boots into what I assume is 3e (Goes by real quick) and shows something about MOVI and verification and then boots into CWM Recovery v2.5.1.2. If I 3 button boot into recovery, it boots into CWM v2.5.1.0 SpeedMod ULFK. Seems to work now but I'm still confused. Thanks again.
Using sgstools to change mount RW completes its task fine. When I try to copy the new file to /system/bin it does not allow it. The permissions do not change. I tried terminal emulator it doesnt work either. The files stay -r only. I have tried so many times to delete/rename/ or copy over. I just gave up. My system is 2.2 and rooted before you ask.

Use a terminal emulator or adb shell and type...
Code:
chmod 777 /system/bin/recovery
That should give r/w permission to the file, ...i just tested to verify it and it worked for me. also if you have Root Explorer you can just long press the file and select Permissions and check all the boxes.
Exact the same thing is happening to me! Beforehand I had flashed CF Root to get Superuser also at the same time when rooting. I Still can boot into recovery with 3BR and come into the speedmod ULFK settings. Speedmod introduces 3e and you need signed packages. You must have 2e for this I assume!? Can anyone tell me what goes wrong?
Im using the Speedmod kernel and it always pissed me off that everytime I wanted to flash somethng via CWM that I had to pull the battery and restart my phone for it to finish because of the 3e 'no signed packages'
I did the steps in the OP and I noticed that I didnt even have a recovery file in system/bin but I put it in there anyway. I rebooted and flashed a different modem just to check and sure enough, it worked. Now I dont have to worry about pulling my battery and having to reboot my phone everytime I want to flash something.
Thanks for this!
Well the file is moved now. I get reinstall packages in recovery and thats all does. I installed rom manager and have cwm on my sdcard. The phone does not go into cwm recovery. It doesnot give me options to apply install.zip. I have dxjpa and z4root running. This modded recovery does not work. Any ideas?

Once you install cwm and reboot back into 3e, select reinstall packages, it will install cwm and then load into it , if it doesn't then the file didn't copy over, make sure it replaces it ok, I've used this quite a few times and it works everytime, and everyone that has posted has not had an issue, so it does work

Try starting over, delete the recovery file and also delete the update.zip on the root of the sdcard, then copy the modded recovery over to /system/bin/ , then open rom manager and install cwm again, something could have happened with the update.zip, cause if you are able to get into 3e and select reinstall packages and it actually starts but errors out with the update.zip, then something could possibly be wrong with the update.zip .. it might restart after you select reinstall packages, but it should then load in to cwm, if it doesnt and boots back into android, then go into rom manager and select restart recovery and see if that works

[A] Bootloop after flashing a ROM via 3.0.0.5 Recovery image.

What you did .. .. ..
Okay so you've rooted your newly bought MyTouch4G, and you've made sure that s=off and you've flashed Clockwork ROM manager's recovery image that you got from the market. That is all the correct order. But when you flashed a ROM you got stuck in a bootloop.
Am i screwed???
Don't worry you are just in a "soft brick mode", or "limp mode" if you will.
What happened? Why is it doing this?
The Image that you downloaded and installed 3.0.0.5 is for 2.3 (Gingerbread) based ROMs only. [n3rd note] these are ext4 style ROMS. They act and store information differently than 2.2 which are Ext3 ROMs[/n3rd note].
This could also be caused by trying to flash a 2.3 using a older 2.x.x.x version of the Recovery Image. Those will only support the Ext3 style ROMs, which are FroYo (2.2) based ROM.
Okay what do i need to do to fix it, there are two methods.
This is Method one it's the older version.
You must use this method if you do not have the engineering screen
If you are using the 3.0.0.5 Recovery image
To fix your problem you need to flash any 2.3 based ROM, for time sake i will recommend Cyanogen(mod). Link to Cyanogen(mod)'s CM7RC4. While you are there you need to also store the G/Apps.
If you are using the 2.x.x.x Recovery Image
To fix your problem you need to flash any 2.2 based ROM, for time sake i will recommend RoyalGlacier Thread can be found here
- Question: How do i find out what Recovery image i am using
- Answer: Boot the phone into the recovery mode. We'll touch on that in a little bit
Now when you download both of those files you also need to store them to SDCard.
NOTE: If you are using 2.x.x.x and going to flash RoyalGlacier you will not need the g/apps. They have included this in their ROM, and MAKE sure to follow their specific directions for installing the ROM.
- Question: Now how in the world i am going to do that since my phone is in bootloop.
Answer:
Two ways one can do that
1) use a SDcard reader and just plug the card into a main USB port.
2) Mount the SDCard in the phone via the Recovery Image. *** i'd recommend this method since you are going to need to be in recovery anyway ***
Pull the battery from the phone an put it back in, then put the back on the phone. turn the phone on holding the power button along with the volume down rocker button. That will boot the phone into the HBoot (Engineering) Screen. From there you will see an option that says "recovery" [this is what i mentioned earlier, about the different versions] use the volume rocker to select it, then tap the power button to select it. The phone will reboot into what is called the recovery image. From there you will select "mount" then USB. That will mount the SDCard to the Computer.
If you are using the 3.0.0.5 Recovery image
Once you have move Cyanogen(mod) and the g/apps to the SD card unmount the SDCard.
Then navigate to "wipe data/factory reset" you will want to wipe the phone. That will format everything to a fashion that can be written over w/o problems.
Then navigate to "install .zip from sdcard" > " choose .zip " > then flash the main Cyanogen(mod) ROM. Then do the same but flash the g/apps that you downloaded.
Once those are done you can re-boot the phone. That will boot you into cyanogen.
If you are using the 2.x.x.x Recovery image
Please use the link i supplied above to get that ROM up and running once it is done, according to their instructions come back here.
Now i understand that may or may not want Cyanogen nor RoyalGlacier on your phone. Well take care of that
What can i do to prevent this from Happening again?
Once you are up and running (make sure to log into your Google Account) go to the market and download Clockwork ROM manager again, and re-flash the recovery image.
Once you are done with that i HIGHLY suggest upgrading to the newest 3.0.0.6 Recovery image. You can do that one of two ways.
one way is to flash True_Blues method for installing 3.0.0.6 recovery image. Use this thread..
This is the way that i would personally recommend.
The second way is download the 3.0.0.6 recovery image, which i've attached and flash it via the ADB commands. If you want to do it this way you do not need to download Clockwork Rom Manager, you can "just flash it". If you need help with that, if you are using Windows or Mac, see my signature for True_Blue's method on EZ ADB. If you are using Unbutu 10.10 use this This Method to get ADB running. This is the method i used to ADB running on my Linux NetBook.
Download the file that i've attached and store just the recovery image from the .zip to the SDCard, from the ADB commands type
adb shell
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
Click to collapse
More information on this process can be found here
That will flash the newest recovery image to your phone
Once you have installed the 3.0.0.6 ROM Manager you can wipe and flash ANY MyTouch4G ROM that you want. It will handle both 2.2 (ext3) and 2.3 (ext4) ROM formats.
This is the New Method - Which is a little easier.
AND YOU MUST HAVE THE ENGINEERING HBOOT
Thanks to TeeJay for inspiring this.
I am going to assume that since you have the Engineering Screen you are more familiar with what you are doing so i'll be more to the point with this walk-through.
you will need to have ADB up and running for this method.
1) Download the attached file and store just the .img to your folder from which you preform all of your ADB commands
2) plug the phone into the computer
3) boot the phone into HBoot
4) from the ADB commands change the drive to the folder where you stored the recovery image.
5) type these commands
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
the screen should say something to the degree of
Code:
sending 'recovery' (3426 KB)... OKAY [ 1.172s]
writing 'recovery'... OKAY [ 0.797s]
finished. total time: 1.969s
6) then select "bootloader"
7) navigate to "reboot recovery"
8) flash your ROM of choice.
9) enjoy your ROM of choice.
Please feel free to use this in your signature or link people back to. If you feel i made an error in this post please PM and i'll edit it accordingly.
If this thread has helped you solve your problem please hit the "thanks" button.
THE RECOVERY IMAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED TO THE NEWEST ONE.
good summary. originally when i flashed cm7 I had to search a bit to come up with what you said above. one addition, CWM lets you mount sd storage to usb so you can copy files to sdcard (say the recovery image). then update CWM 3.0.0.6 with ADB.

Well i work in the Imported Automotive parts. My job requires me to basically sit around and answer the phone when it rings. We have our own "call center" room. I just pick up the phone and answer question and sell parts. Like right now i'm working on a engine rebuild kit for a 1975 2Ton Mercedes Bens..... so i get some free time from time to time, and XDA is one of a few sites they allow me to visit.... BGR/ Android and Me, Android Central are the others....
I can see why some people blow up, spend +$200.00 on a phone then turn around and blow through something w/o taking the time to read something and then you get stuck in a bootloop.... i can see why people go bonkers. But slowing down and reading would solve alot of problems. Heck i've got 3 great threads in my signature that would solve alot question that one could have with a new device.
fixed my problem
Thread stuck.
Great guide!
Same issue, except i flashed 3.0.0.6 beforehand to prevent any problems. Iced Glacier flashed okay, I just didn't care for it much. Ive wiped all the necessary parts prior to flashing as I would before flashing any roms. Ive managed to retrieve and restore a previous back (I can haz backups) so Im not stuck. I would like to be in the cool kids cyanogen club. Any ideas?

Meaning you want to run Cyanogen(mod)? Well jump over to their site and download the ROM of your picking; Nightlies are alpha builds, and the RC's are beta builds. I've ran both and both are extremely stable. I have links supplied in the first post. and directions for that matter. just make sure to do a nandroid backup before wiping and flashing.

Did you finally find out if there is a bug in the recovery?
Once you put the recovery, would Rom Manager detect it?

Got it. Unofficial...
Tested on u8800 and works very good. SD card sometimes can't mout properly, but i guess it's not an issue from CMW.
I've done a official GB backup, restored without a glitch, installed ICS demo without any problem too.
Can I upgrade my u8800 to official beta 2.3.5 and use this CWM to upgrade to cm7 or miui if I won't be able to use ics demo?

Yes.

for me does not work. after several times trying to restore my miui backup (the onlyy one) it gave random errors some times, but after I was able to restore 2 times, I cant pass the miui boot.

Was it a backup you did with this CWM version? Or with the stockwell's CWM? The old backups don't work with this one I believe.
the backup its before this version of course. but even with this new CWM I cant flash new rom. I says error blablabla id u8800pro. I installed this because I wanted to try new ICSrom but now Im stuck to it lol

Have you flashed official GB before installing this recovery? I think you need to do that before this works in the original U8800.
yes I did ! the ICS works but not others.
Hmm, I tried to restore my backup from yesterday done with stockwells 5.0.2.6 recovery and my phone got ****ed up. I know I shouldn't have done this but I just had to try. xD Now I can't get past the Huawei logo, when I push the power the phone starts but just turns off after couple of seconds. I can get to bootloader (pink screen) but not to recovery. I hope no one else has tried this and I hope I get my phone working again.
Would anyone have any advice how to get my phone back up and running? Or should I just go bring it to warranty support?
have you tried to replace the recovery.img from this topic again? that happened to me too when I tried to go back with CWM v4 but then I replaced with this

[MOD] xt720mod sbf. read all thread before you do anything

linkthanks go to mioze7Ae/brianlili/mchlbenner/J.Y.Daddy/fifalcon.
Please give feedback.
P.S. THIS SBF NOT MEANT TO BOOT.
download OR.rar and apply it first its your open recovery make sure you move your updates to it.
delete your present open recovery or move off main sdcard.
xt720mod sbf. it will not work on cm6.
this has up to 250 mb internal storage depending what rom your using. this sbf doest boot use it to get to open recovery.
how to get to recovery simple go to moto stock recovery and click update.zip it will take you to open recovery.
their a bootfix for cm7 ours.
their a bootfix for JY.Daddys cm7 and miui ics.
let me know if links don't work or any other problem.
DONT FLASH SBF FIRST.
yesterday i spent about 6 hour with bravo trying to get a sensor fix but did not I will trying to get a fix for all
I have been running this for a few weeks and it is great. The recovery is what the Milestone A853 people call a "vulnerable recovery". This means that the Motorola stock recovery in the sbf has a security vulnerability--it does *not* check that update.zip has been signed by Motorola before applying it (on all the others it does check that). Also like mchlbenner says, the /data partition is much larger (256mb)--actual amount free after boot will depend on the ROM's configuration. To reiterate the wonkyness:
You MUST prepare your sdcard with the OpenRecovery before flashing (or you will be forced to put your sdcard in a computer). You must have /sdcard/update.zip from OR.rar and an update or nandroid to apply.
After you flash the sbf, it will not boot anything except Motorola stock recovery until you get into OpenRecovery (from stock recovery) and flash a ROM.
The rotation sensor is somehow rotated by 90 degrees. mchlbenner's bootfixes fix that for Gingerbread ROMs. We don't have a fix for eclair or froyo (yet?).
Hi could you post link to xt720mod sbf mine will not work.
I flashed clockwork mod and it worked!

So, I'm a bit confused on what all this means. I understand the part about the /data partition being larger, but is that at the expense of the /cache partition? Also, as I understand it the Clockwork Mod is the equivalent of AOR, is this correct? What is the benefit of CWM vs AOR?

Both the /system and /cache partitions are slightly smaller (the partition layout is the same as the Motoroi 50R froyo sbf, but this uses a Milestone XT720 kernel instead of a Motoroi kernel). The other implication is that if you are running this sbf, you will always be able to enter OR (assuming you have a valid sdcard). With other sbf's if you do something to make your system unbootable and you can't re-enter OpenRecovery, your *only* option is to flash sbf. In other words, a bootstrap recovery is not needed with this sbf.

I have not tried the clockworkmod. Mostly because I haven't had time to study it, but I have studied AOR. So for me at least it's more of a devil-I-know sort of thing at the moment.
Hi
I'm using clockwork mod and I'm using minimod recovery I prefer are recovery.
Rom manager is oka but if you flash cm7 with it you only have edge not 3g I could not fix this issue yet.
I would recommend to stay with are open recovery for know.

I Know this is prob a stupid question... But are there any performance increases with this? or just more space? and always be able to get into OR?
The answer is yes less on sdcard will help with performance that's my opion.
I personal have got better performance on this sbf.

Are there plans for a froyo fix ? I saw MZ say (YET?) lol
The plan is it to get it work on cm6 and eclair but I have searching for this fix but I not found it yet their must be a fix will find it.

HI.
First off all, thanx for this.
SBF is installed, and flashed with J.Y.Daddy CM 7.1.1 with bootfix.
I'm actually restoring all my apps, will let you know if it's good or not.
---------- Post added at 12:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 PM ----------
Just for the fun, and because it's not really simple, here is the way to use this SBF.
Prepare you're SDCARD:
Copy the content of AO.rar from the first post to your sdcard
be sure to get a valid rom update in your sdcard/OpenRecovery/updates directory.
(I personnaly used CM 7.1.1 from J.Y.Daddy)
Flash your phone:
Boot your phone in flash mode (power + cam key)
Flash your phone using rsd lite and the xt720-2.1-mod.sbf file
After succesfull flash, restart your phone by pressing Power key + Camera Key + GalleryKey to bring up the recovery screen.
Don't wait for your phone to boot! This SBF can't!
When the Triangle/Exclamation point screen appears, press Volume Up + Gallery Key down and tap the camera key to show the recovery menu.
Apply the update.zip to get the OpenRecovery menu
Apply your ROM update
Apply the fix for your rom provided in the first post
Wipe data / cache / dalvik
Reboot
Enjoy.
I m flashing it for the third time and it don t boot after the rsdlite flash....
It stay with the motorola logo for a long long time (i m waiting for about 10minutes now...)
Anyone had this problem? I think i m gonna try to go to the moto recovery without waiting for the first boot
edit it works without waiting for the first boot... Sorry

thats whats supposed to happen isnt it? you have to go straight to moto recovery, select update.zip. and that will bring u to the custom AOR, and from there, u can flash the rom that u want, and apply the bootfix.
That's normal. This SBF can't boot!
You have to remove your battery and restart your phone by pressing Power key + Camera Key + GalleryKey to bring up the recovery screen.
Then you just need to follow my previous post.
Sorry I m so tired this days.....
Hi mchlbenner... nice to finally see something from you (not forgetting the help from the other devs). this modded sbf thing is really cool, hope to see more improvements, it would be awesome if there were fixes for the simpler roms (2.1 and 2.2)! keep the good work up!
I hope to find a fix cm6 and 2.1.
Not to long ago we did not have many choices at all and now we have a ton choices.

[RECOVERY] TWRP Recovery [v2.8.6.0]

CM dropped CWM support in CM-12.0 in favor of CM's own recovery, which has different bugs and is generally very simplified recovery (does only wiping/flashing images). So I decided to go on with a different recovery from now on.
This recovery is LVM compatible.
Requirements
U8800 with 404020 baseband (If you ever installed 2.3 stock firmware, you're ok!)
Strongly recommended: Unlocked pink screen
How to install
Method 1 (by recovery)
Download the zip from downloads below
Save it to your phone (internal or external SD)
Reboot to your current recovery
Install the zip
Reboot recovery
Method 2 (by pink screen)
Download the zip from downloads below
Save it to your PC
Reboot your phone in pink screen mode
Extract recovery.img from the zip
Save the zip on your phone's image/ directory (where boot.img and other files are located)
Reboot to recovery
Downloads
LegacyHuawei
twrp-recovery-v2840.zip
twrp-recovery-lvm-v2830.zip
Things to know
When backupping, tick "cust". This holds boot.img and other files which are grucial for restoring a full backup.
Thanks for the great job Blefish. It works flawlessly
Uploaded TWRP recovery v2.8.4.0.
Changes:
* Support for offmode charging
* LVM/NON-LVM compatible. You can use this recovery for NON-LVM ROMs.
Hi Blefish
Thanks for the updated recovery.
I had a question, if we were to flash say your CM11 rom, I guess we need to uninstall LVM as you had mentioned before or just flash directly using this recovery
Great job again

You can use this recovery, however LVM needs to be uninstalled. The new BlePart-LVM-11 script makes it easier for you . However, I still want to do one mor CM11 release, with LVM support. Theoretically the new CM12 release is LVM/NON-LVM compatible too but it has problems on installing the ROM (the space on /system is not enough).

Thanks Blefish for the update.
Just installed the new recovery, Off-Mode charging is working fine.
I like the new white charging animation
Blefish, thanks a lot!!
Perhaps, in the next update, you could enable the LED to show the charging progress , if possible..

Yes, I am planning that. The thing was that in CM's healthd (charger is using that) it is supported, but in Omni's healthd it's not supported. I will probably implement it myself if someone has not done it yet.
VERY NICE, thanks!
New version uploaded, enjoy!
Next releases will be uploaded at LegacyHuawei
This version adds the RPC side charging (more stable) and it also enables charging led indicators.
I installed 2850 and now I can't access the sdcard (in TWRP). It works fine if I boot it normally, so I'm guessing it's not a problem with the sd card?
I tried the option to mount the sdcard, but when I try it, TWRP doesn't tick that option. All the others work, though (cust, system, data, ...)
Any suggestions?
phone wont boot into twrp now, it just shows the twrp splash screen then restarts
New version uploaded!
No changes have been done on my side, other than updating to android-5.1 codebase where this recovery is compiled from.
@Blefish On the U8800 Pro version it doesn't mount my external SD card. This has been a problem on many recoveries, but on twrp 2.8.1.0 by @Lihis it works. Can you find a way to make twrp 2.8.6.0 detect the SD Card? And BTW ADB Sideload does not work either, but works on 2.8.1.0

Try replugging the SD card while in recovery. Sideload was working well for me, but it does require updated ADB. Does it tell you an error message on the screen?

Replugging the SD does nothing, and I only get error message in Adb sideload mode after about 5-10 min. This is the same problem that @rexnanet had with version 2.8.4.0, but my sd doesn't mount after inserting it when in TWRP
