So wanting to support the developer community I purchased the Liberty Customizer Pro version. When I change themes it does not change wallpaper to match the theme. I've found my "gallery" is now FILLED with Liberty graphics from the themes. It's making a real mess!
Also, on reboot after installing the theme I lose all my widgets that I have on my phones' screens and have to put them back. The settings luckily are retained but still, having to remember what was where is sometimes a problem when you love widgets...
Has anyone else seen these issues or am I doing something wrong?
Well I deleted all those theme pics in the gallery and now they're gone and I can't find the theme wallpapers anywhere. I uninstalled and re-downloaded the donate version from the market and no joy.
Does anyone have any ideas other than re-flashing which I'd really prefer not to do?
I guess nobody else is seeing the glitches. I feel so alone.

Whatever lwp I download from the market and set it as my wallpaper....my device just lags.....
Recently downloaded the captain america lwp and now my device is supper laggy...any solutions for this?

Strange..
I have quite a few live wallpapers I use from time to time - do not notice any lag to speak of from any of them.
Remember anything you download from the market is subject to not performing well on any one particular device. It really comes down to how the dev of that program coded it - some stuff does not work well on a honeycomb based device but runs great on froyo or gingerbread, and vise versa.
I experience lag as well...
Live wallpapers are unusable for me. I get horrible lag and with the included wallpapers and any that I download from the market as well. (I'm on 4.010.11_COM_GEN2 3.1 OTA)
It is especially apparent when dragging an icon to move it elsewhere. The tablet just slows to a crawl. Very disturbing but I'm going to flash an alternative rom soon and will update if the issue goes away.
Update: Flashed to 3.1 Minimalist rom and the live wallpapers now work with no lag. I guess bloatware was killing my OTA 3.1 performance.
Also sometimes widgets just dissappear from the home screens...I have to move some other widget to another homescreen to fix this....anyone experiancing this??...any solution to this??

I don't have the disappearing widgets thing happening with the iconia, but my old Behold 2 had a problem with the happening constantly. I ended up installing a different ROM and that seemed to fix it. I still don't know why it happened.
Also thanks for the heads up about a Captain America lwp. I went and saw the movie last night and it was awesome. Its probably my current fav superhero movie.
I have tried jewes 5.2 ROM and it was incredible fast and amazing. But i didnt Like the BLACK/WHITE Design of The gui. I tried to use skins, but the Most of the Icons and menus still stay in depressing B/W.
Is there a solution? Maybe another ROM with that incredible speed optimizations?

Yeah I feel the same about the icons. But the change is made in the apps themselves, which makes it a real pain to return to the original icons, as you would have to install everything over.
I like black themes but the icons should keep their differentiation, just because it's easier to find what you're looking for that way.
+1
I tried it. Everything worked very well but I also disliked the theme.
the black theme for me seems so depressing, though the rom was very quick. i installed the stock sgs2 icons theme so there would be a little bit more colour.
sole reason why i stayed on 5.0, unfortunately
hi guys i downloaded the jews 5.2 and when i flash the rom the First boot logo is appear and it hangs and then i flash the other version through the odin...can you tell me how tto install jews 5.2 edition......plzzzzzzzzz
I always felt like the cubes looked pretty tacky. Is there a way to remove them?
I'm not sure about other launcher apps, but I know that Adw at least allows you to remove them. Look into the different launcher apps to see which ones can do it.
If you're looking for a method that doesn't involve using a different launcher though, that might be more annoying to find. The boxes around the apps seem to appear in some roms but not all. There might be a mod for it in the themes and apps forum though.

It's an option in adw ex launcher that can be turned off or on that I know of, I'm sure a couple others might have those boxes around the icons u speak of. Try using different launchers too no matter what anyone suggests to you only you would know which launcher and its features are unique to your android experience.

There is a theme that removes them called adroidian in the market, it won't work on 2.3.4 though unless the dev has updated it.
I use ADW and it removes the boxes, most launchers do.

yea i hated the boxes i rooted and flashed roms many roms bounced around alot if you like sense the Virtous Unity might be for you its the newest sense with 3d weather and widgets and no boxes! lol poor battery life tho thats just my opinion dont quote me some people have gotten very good battery life on it i guess it varies on user :-\

thanks, the Androidian theme did just the trick. i tried the launchers, but didnt initially like them, but I will probably give them another try sometime in the future. but until then, this will do!
I ended up using a GO Launcher EX and creating my own icons as PNG files and changing them to that.

What size were the png files you made? I was considering doing that for myself but I didn't feel like having to test and retest different sized pics to see which worked properly. Does any size work for them or does it need to be a particular range?
Thanks in advance.
Hey all,
So seeing as level up have ruined beautiful widgets, does anyone know of any good alternatives?
Most if not all of the clocks and weather themes I used are gone, and the clocks are low rez, lose time,
and the Home weather widget is gone. The weather part of the app is ugly and poorly designed now too.
So i'm trying to find some clock widgets to replace it as I am furious they took an app I loved and replaced it with
an abomination lol.
Cheers.
I actually prefer the new version of BW. Using the HTC One X theme found on the theme market
But I see that HD Widgets is pretty up there in popularity. Not a fan of it though.

Thanks I will take a look. More than anything I need one that keeps time, which this one it seems still doesn't
I am annoyed because almost all the themes left for the clocks are exactly the same, all the home weather one's I liked, unless i'm not looking properly like angry birds, are gone, and the app is now slow and laggy.
Guess it's all down to personal preference but I just wish they would offer the old version.

HD Widgets looks excellent I might have to give it a go. Although I'm reluctant to give another Dev my cash, they
are editors choice on the play market, and I guess I could backup the .apk in case it is updated in future
Cheers.

Hit the thanks button if I helped I bought BW when it was on sale so I'm not too crazed about it, idk I like the improvement of BW 5.0 doesnt feel laggy at all, especially not on the N4.
I have both HD Widgets and Beautiful Widgets. There are a lot more style choices in HD Widgets. HD Widgets also allows you to customize the look of the widget more than BW.

I used The 4x1 Weather widget in Beautiful widgets with the SimpleSolid skin. But when the 5.0 update came, it made the icons in the widget bigger and due to that they don't fit into the 4x1 space properly anymore. Parts of the images get cut off because they extend outside the widget boundaries.
I had to switch to another skin that uses much smaller icons but I really liked the SimpleSolid skin and will probably explore alternative widget options.
I have both and I prefer HD widgets because I don't have to search for widget themes as you can edit the widgets through the app and HD widgets has switches that I use a lot.

Hello,
im new to android from iPhone and with all this customization im lost in the goodness of changing everything to my liking... but what is the difference from icons, and wallpapers, themes and launchers....
will one give me the option to change all of them or is each one different.... ive been searching on the play store but am so confused...
thanks.
Launchers: available on and installable from the play store. The stock Samsung launcher is touchwiz. This is the main interface for the phone. Changing to another launcher will change the way this looks, and works.
Themes: These are modifications of the general look and feel of the phones firmware. These are done by themers here who take the stock (or custom) framework files and modify them. These are currently unavailable until the S4 has the ability to install custom firmware. The locked bootloader has to be unlocked first.
Wallpapers: The background of your screen. You can change these within the launcher, including stock touchwiz. You can add custom wallpapers and use them also, by choosing from the gallery.
Icons: Generally built into the applications and not modifyable.
Thanks. Would you recommend nova launcher?
I've never used it. Many like it.
I use Apex on my SII running 4.1.2

I've been using Nova Launcher for a while now and it's pretty nice. Lots of things to customize, like the look and feel of the app drawer and how app screens flip or roll from one to the next. Nice thing about downloading a launcher from the playstore is it installs along side the original or in this case Touch Wiz launcher. So if you decide you don't like it, simply switch back or try a different one.

I recommend searching - Google will get you comparisons of all the available launchers and give you full information on installing, changing settings, different features, and how to clear defaults and change launchers if the app itself doesn't offer the option. Include XDA as a search term and you'll get lots of theads around here...
One of the bonuses with Android vs. iPhone is since it's all hackable, there are TONS of threads, reviews, and blog posts on how to do anything. The browser on the phone works great (especially with this nice big screen).
You've probably started another thread that will turn into more of the same - until we get custom ROMs, you won't get any info that isn't on another thread already

I have both Apex and Nova Launcher. I like them both. They do a great job. Until custom ROM's are available you can check out this guys site:
http://czarnomorski.pl/ (Some great simple wallpapers on his site or in app format here
He made some great themes that work with both Nova and Apex as well as Go Launcher EX or ADW Launcher. Check Play store here:
If you are using TFS Shell then you need this one:
If you install the theme you can then go into the settings of the launcher and apply it. You can apply the whole theme or just parts of it like the Icons or Wallpaper.
Enjoy.

Apex and Nova are great for ics while go launcher and adw look good for gingerbread and froyo. for 3d effects next and spb shell 3d is good. TSf is pretty expensive.THere are even small sized launchers like zeam or ftl for speed.
i just need the phone so i can go into the play store and mess around... need to get the apple/ app store brainwashing out of my system....
I hope you find a solution as soon as possible
