Alt + Tab works on TF - Eee Pad Transformer General

I only just realised today having had a TF for over 6 months that alt + tab works on it
Hold the 'Alt Gr / Alt' button and tap the 'tab' button to bring up a recently opened apps list just like in Froyo 2.2 when you hold the home button.
Tap the 'Tab' button to scroll through the apps, then release the Alt button once you have selected the app and it will open it for you.
Its faster for me than using the recently opened apps button on the screen and is awesome!
Screenshot attached
EDIT: PS. To cancel out of it, say for example the app you wanted is not in the list anymore, then whilst still holding Alt, press the back button and it will cancel the shortcut screen and return you to your current app.

lol I didnt know that either

Haha nice !!
Only works on the desktop screens for me though... but very useful

Hmm, has anyone else noticed that you seem to get more apps in the Alt-Tab list than you do by using the Recent Apps button (on the status bar)? I would think that you should be see the same apps in both lists, right? This my explain my orher issue where I can't seem to multitask certain apps (don't show in the recent apps list)...
Thanks!

Awesome, this definitely was not the case in the past, so Asus (or Google?) must have included it in one of the firmware upgrades. I remember trying when I first got my hands on it, and then not bothering after that because it didn't work.

Check out this list; alt+tab functionality was 'discovered' months ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071739&highlight=alt,+shortcut
Not all the shortcuts are on the main page; alt+tab is mentioned on page four.

Ctrl, alt, delete works for a soft reboot as well. I made a list of the "common" keys. I will post them up for you guys soon.

Also - someone mentioned a soft-reboot for CTRL-ALT-DEL? I don't even have a DEL key on my keyboard dock! I tried CTRL-ALT-Backspace to no avail... How did you soft-reboot with a key-combination again?
Thanks!

Totally my mistake... I have a USB keyboard also that has those keys... I just looked and don't have them on my dock either. I have used the ctrl C, ctrl V to copy and paste. It does work, you just have to select text first which is a pain.

Volume/Search button on X10

Anyone actually know how to use it as a search button? I thought it would be long press or press the whole button down, or something like that, but can't figure it out.
Long press menu button (left button) is search on the X10.
Edit: I think the magnifying glass image means zoom

The "OK" Button...

Okay guys. So I've successfully rooted the phone, removed bloatware, played with different ROMs, but this one stupid "OK" button is puzzling me.
WHAT DOES THE OKAY BUTTON DO????
It doesn't do what I expect it to do.. most of the time it does nothing. If I hold it down while texting it just highlights everything in red.
I've been wondering the same thing since day 1.
The best answer I can offer as of yet is "nothing"
The ok button is like hitting enter or a left mouse click in some cases. If you are scrolling through clickable links in the browser or the marketplace ok will click on the link and open it (you may have noticed enter or return doesn't do that). I imagine it also selects yes if a yes/no dialogue box comes up.

Not precisely. That would be what we expect of an "OK" button. Thx for replying.
Does anyone know exactly what this f*'in OK button does on the Droid2????????
The same thing as the center of the dpad did on the D1....
If you use the arrow keys to select something on screen, like an icon, link, or menu item. The ok button would do the same as tapping on it... you can even hold it on an item to get the same effect as long press.

Um......that is what it does.
I was wrong about it selecting yes in a yes/no box, I thought I had done that once.
But what it does do, is as I sad, and the poster above me said. It clicks on links or linkable type things (such as an app in the market).
The poster above me said the same thing, only in a better way. It is like the center of the dpad (or clicking the trackpad on other android phones). It is sort of like finger pressing what you are on without using the touch screen.

backspace deleting entire text message

Does anybody else hate it when you press the fn key and try to correct something by pressing backspace and the whole message gets deleted? Any way to turn that feature off? It has happened to me way too many times now.
You might be able to edit the keyboard mappings to do this, but I don't have any experience in that area.
I just have gotten into the habit of holding modifier keys instead of tapping before the next key.
Sorry your a step ahead of me...... I have been wondering why my message gets wiped every so often..... must be the fn thing...... I thought i was going crazy

sometimes you are typing fast and then you try to add a question mark or something. you make a mistake and it still has that FN command blinking and you don't notice...you press backspace and bye bye to your whole message.
While were talking about keyboard issues here (since I couldn't really find another place to ask) does anyone know how to "select all" which would normally be ctrl + A, for the epic. I was using gmail and wanted to delete "all" my spam mail at once instead of one by one. I know it something I did on my N900 easily due to the physical keyboard but after reading through the keyboard shortcuts from Cnet I didn't see this particular shortcut listed.

fn backspace
Any one have any news on this issue, regarding turning off the FN+backspace = erasing an entire line?
It happens to me AT LEAST once a week, but it's gotten old really fast. I agree with several users...it's just a function I don't need and end up accidentally deleting lines as a result. If I could just turn it off, I'd be MUCH happier than wishing it was there since I never use it.
Whether it's a setting or even an app or add-on that can help I'd appreciate it.
As much as I love the Epic overall, and I may well be in the minority on this one, but even months into owning it the biggest thing that screws me up continually coming from my previous keyboard phone is the placement of the Fn key to begin with. If I had designed this phone, the Fn and Shift keys would be interchanged position wise with the Fn key the one in the very bottom left corner.
It happened to me with droidx multitouch kb installed

Random Things you may not know about your EPIC 4G...?

So it doesnt seem as though there is a thread like this for the Epic.
I figured this would be a good place to list a bunch of random things you've found while "tinkering" with you Epic 4G.
Example:
While in Camera mode, if you hit the power button it locks the camera. No buttons can be pushed until you "Unlock" the camera by pressing the power button once more. I figured this allows you to keep the camera app open without snapping random shots, so that when you are ready the camera app is readily available.
This same method works in the video player function...I found this out cus I have a 2 year old that loves to watch his cartoons on my phone. Well he always tends to touch the screen and it usually interrupts the vid (streaming)...so now I just lock the video player (push the power button while video is playing) and now he can touch it all he wants and it wont interrupt the vid!
What else do you guys/gals know about this AWESOME phone!!???

I just found out if you workout with your epic resting against your skin, you're risking it might get water damaged.
Here's something:
If you press down on the notifications tab at the top of your phone, and slide it to either the left or right, you can toggle the brightness (if it is set to MANUAL, and you can do this under the phone's settings).

Confirmed. Wow I Just tried this and it's pretty amazing! +11111111
Here's another one that's semi-useful.
This will only work with the stock SWYPE keyboard. Now there are some complications usually when trying to copy/paste text with androids. If you have a keyboard, you can easily hold "shift" and swype across the text you are trying to copy.
Well with the SWYPE keyboard, if you do not want to open up the physical keyboard, you have the option of pressing the "i" button at the bottom (next to SYM) and if you hold that and swype on over to SYM and back to the "i" button, a menu with several different commands will show up. I'm not too familiar with how to use it, but I know it gives you the option to copy/paste, move up and down and select text fairly easy.

No need to swype back to the "i" button. Swyping from the "i" button over to the SYM button brings up the same options. Gives you arrow keys which are pretty awesome to use. Also, if you swype from the "i" button over to the "F" key, it brings up a nice keypad for you to input numbers/symbols.
Also, while on the topic of swyping, here are some other cool things:
If you want to capitalize a letter, you swype from that letter off of the swype keyboard entirely and then continue swyping. So if you wanted for some reason to type CaT, you would swype from the "c" key off of the keyboard entirely and then over to the "a" key and then over to the "t" key and then off the keyboard entirely again.
If you want to hit a double letter, like the two o's in Google, you swype from the "g" over to the "o" and swirl around on it for a second and then continue swyping the rest of the word. The swirling around doubles whatever key you are swirling over.

just swiping from the swype(or i/info depending on your version/rom/theme) key to sym alone will open that layout.
heres another swipe shortcut
start at the swype/info key then swipe diagonaly to the upper right and let go when your past the keyboard layout.... This will open the numerical keypad.
last one it got (that i can think of at the moment)
you can usually simulate a battery pull/force reset if your softlocked by holding cam+vol_up+power... saved me some hassle when i had a hard case on my epic many times when experimenting with roms/kernel/tweaks.
UPDATE:
muyoso has apparently tapped into my brain and beat me to it LOL... and sombish... yeah u can just swipe from the info to the f and get numerical keypad also

I think he meant long pressing menu brings up search because there is no dedicated search button.
I'd be interested in a solution for this as well.
I'm inclined to think there is a way to make long press back bring up the KB for rooted devices only, and might already exist from SGS1 complaints. Samsung took a page from Apple, by which I mean they made a form over function compromise.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't get how they made a form over function compromise like you said.
Unless I am missing something, I am assuming there is a field to type in whenever someone needs the keyboard. so what exactly would be the need for a long press on the back button, if you can just touch the field which brings the keyboard up?
Can someone explain to me if I missed something?
Sorry i ment that the galaxy s 2 doesnt have a dedicated searchbutton. Samsung decided to use a longpress on the menubutton as the searchbutton, so you cannot bring up the keyboard with the longpress menubutton. Sorry for the confusion!
And now an explenation for the question "why would you need it?":
If I want to play a HTML5 or a flash game within the Browser, where a keyboard (or only the arrowkeys) is needed, i can't bring it up without the "longpress menukbutton"...
