Just was wondering. I'm more used to what clockworkmod has so I figured it would be easier to install that instead. But I wanted to make sure it was supported before I went ahead and installed it. Anyone know?
Yes. ClockworkMod works just fine on the Kindle Fiya. there is no looking back now.

awesome. so i'm ok with installing it straight from rom manager right?
i'm a little paranoid bc a lot of people seem to be posting about bricking their fires.
Unknown. But if you follow the "bricked fire" threads, you'll see that most people find ways to get them back. So I think a lot of folks are at times stuck, but not truly bricked. I think the most common problem, and the one that bit me too - is being stuck in fastboot and therefore having the device not accessible by adb. And they, like me, panic a bit and think they've bricked it. Granted, I'm sure there are ways of truly bricking it, but as long as you're patient, I think KFU and the fastboot command can get you out of most problems.

it installs when you start up rom manager for the first time
EDIT: Woops, just went to install it and it says it's not officially supported yet. Anyone know where to get it?
Looks like there's more to it. Guess I'm gonna be going by this guide to install early CM9:

Go to the development section. It says beta but its solid, I did most of the alpha testing for it and doom lord did the port. Is not officially supported by koush. If you know how to use fastboot, you can't fastboot flash recovery.img if u can't figure it out pm me. I'll get u going.

Agreed. Doomlord's CWM recovery port is awesome. It's touch based and I've tried most every feature and it seems very solid. I installed it in a much easier fashion than most... I just copied it to my SD area and used the dd command to put a copy into the recovery partition. I did this during normal operation of the Kindle.... No fastboot necessary in using that method. Neall.

That method is sketch. Fastboot is the proper way to flash a recovery. Any other way you risk trouble. Wear your rubbers and use the fastboot binary.

its not sketch, just no room for error.
put recovery.img on the root of ur SD card, than open mobile terminal, than type these commands.
su (enter)
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/by-name/recovery (enter)
just don't mistype it, all it does is make a copy directly to the /dev folder.
this is how, rom manager actually puts cwm on ur device.

Travisdroidx2 is right. You simply need to connect your N7 to a computer's USB port and then you can access recovery mode via the steps you mentioned or via adb. It's a bug that Google is going to fix eventually (I hope).

I Don't think this is a good time to advertise your ROM.
Hey so yesterday I mucked around with the mounting/unmounting/formatting stuff in fastboot. Now it's not booting up, it's stuck at the GOOGLE logo. I left it on overnight, and it's still stuck there. I can still turn off the device and enter fastboot mode. Anyone know what's wrong?
Thanks
How do you want to know what's happening to your device if don't tell us which commands you have done exactly with fastboot and why ?

I went to the fastboot menu and unmounted everything, and formatted everything. Then I deleted all user data and the cache partition. I'm running xenon HD rom.
Thanks
You were running xenon rom before you formatted everything! Now if you want to stay with xenon you have to push the rom in your device using adb and install it with recovery.

I would say to get Wug's tool kit and use that to unbrick/flash back to stock. To get your computer to recognize the tablet you likely need to install the proper drivers, which are included with the toolkit and instructions on installing them.

The problem is, I don't have USB debugging on, so it's impossible to install the drivers.

Did you reflash the ROM and gapps after doing the wipes? Otherwise, try: factory reset, format system, flash ROM, flash gapps, reboot.
Hey everybody,
Yesterday I tried flashing a theme to SmoothRom and got caught in a bootloop. In a panic, I accidentally factory wiped my sd card and lost my roms so now I can't flash another rom to my Nexus 7. I've tried adb pushing a rom to the sd card, but my Nexus 7 is not being recognized in adb devices. I've tried everything to my knowledge but I still cannot get anything to work, even tried working on Mac and PC computers and my Nexus won't show up in adb.
I'm ready to count my losses as it is my fault, but I figured you guys could help out. I love my Nexus so if you guys know anything I could do I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: Unbrick Nexus 7?
You can go two ways here, either you can do as the above user posted and flash a stock image via fastboot or if you have a otg cable and a pendrive/removable media you can use that to install the rom

Ok guys, I spent all last night trying to get this to work, and I'm still having problems. I tried adding the line to the driver inf file but nothing worked. I tried adding the PDANet drivers, but the Nexus of course is not showing up. I know that my Nexus is not doomed it's just something I'm not doing right, not gonna give up I'll keep at it. Thanks for the help guys, if anything have any suggestions let me know!
Sounds like you should find out if CWM touch can mount a USB flash thumbdrive via an OTG cable. You can avoid driver problems that way (as long as it works). The filesystem formatting of the USB drive with the highest probability of success will be a FAT format.
good luck

If fastboot is really dead, then you're out of luck. Have you tried running fastboot commands, however, after trying to boot into fastboot? Sometimes the underlying software will run correctly, even if the screen is nonresponsive.

So I assume this means my only hope is to replace the motherboard which houses the memory. Is that a good assumption?
HELP!
so i had the same thing happen to me. I had access to recovery still but instead of re flashing i tried to use nexus root toolkit to factory reset. somehow fastboot failed halfway through and now recovery is gone with everything else. The only thing i can get into is the bootloader mode....
My device is still listed as a fastboot device, but when i try to re-run the flash to stock i get this: (see attached picture)
Please help, I honestly have been working on this for days, but i simply do not know enough to fix it!
I will post a new topic if no one responds. Thanks

I'm having a similar problem. Present state of the device is that my N7 boots into the bootloader and then to the custom recovery. I've accidently erased the OS.
Can you tell me how you managed to unbrick via OTG. Should I move the factory image to usb flash drive and then mount it via OTG and then try to flash it via recovery???

Hi guys, sorry if this is a "noob" question or that its in the wrong section or whatever, I am new here and this is my first post so please bear with me.
So today I was trying to install cyanogen mod which is so hard? And I did something wrong and I went into recovery mode to reset the phone and accidently deleted the OS... Now the phone is pretty much useless. I researched it and they say do a factory reset with odin(whatever that is, I dont know) and then the phone should be back to normal... I dont know how to do this and am panicking! Please help me get my phone back to normal? I wanted to install cyanogen mod because I wanted the theme to be black and white instead of black and cyan like it is on stock and I wanted a new kernel to improve performance and battery life which sucks on a stock nexus 4. Any help much appreciated...
Also, Nexus 4 Toolkit v2.0 doesn't have android 4.3 on it yet? It says it only updates on the pro version? I DESPERATELY NEED HELP PLEASE!
Thank you everyone, sorry for being so noob and urgent, cheers!

My computer cannot detect the Nexus 4... I cant do anything like even load anything... I only go to recovery mode... I don't even know how to flash a rom? I deleted everything so theres no rom to flash anyway and my PC not detecting it is not helping.
Download and install this: http://www.wugfresh.com/
Follow the instructions on the driver installation and choose the RAW drivers. Seem to work better than the other options. Leave the phone in the bootloader. Don't touch the phone besides plugging it into the computer. Once everything is done driver wise, choose Soft-bricked/bootloop. Be sure that you have the factory image from Google itself. Doing this method will reset everything. So be sure to do any backups if you can. I'm not at fault if you ruin your phone even more.

Click on this link and read the instructions...then read them again and follow to the letter. http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/ Andel7539 was pointing you in the same direction, just be patient and read the instructions. There is an option to reload the original O/S, then you can move on from there. Odin is a Samsung interface, not what you need for an LG phone. For what it's worth I did the same thing before by accident but had a backup (nandroid) just in case of emergency's which you should also have for situations such as this. When in doubt Google and read, Google and read!
Thank you... I still cannot do it because I cannot enable USB debugging. I've seen all the guides but they all require USB debugging and I cannot get into the phone to enable it? If I try to start the phone up it will just be stuck at the google logo but I can get into the fastboot menu and recovery menu too. Please help?
Also, do I need Cyanogen mod to use kernels? Or do I just need to root? I only wanted Cyanogen mod in the first place for better performance and battery life but I hear there are kernels that allow you to have both? Please guide me through this guys, I am very noob, sorry about this. Cheers!
Just for the record, bootloader/fastboot mode have nothing to do with usb debugging. Do you know at least how to boot to the bootloader? (Power + Volume Keys)
You don't need usb debugging to save your phone. Follow the instructions and you will do it.
And no, you don't need CM to use custom kernels, just a custom recovery to flash them and an version of the kernel compatible with your Android version.
Search about how to install adb on your PC and how to "sideload" zips in it. Then sideload the CM zip. Or search how to use fastboot and use it to flash the google factory image on your phone.

With the fastboot you can do it, or, if you're already rooted or running CM, install GooManager from PlayStore, go to options and select "Install OpenRecovery Script".
