Install any ROM on U8800Pro

I put here my experience to install any ROM on your U8800Pro (these also applies to U8800 but you need the official GB)
To upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3
[you can use the following when you have any problem in installing a new ROM on your mobile (or if you have a blue secreen) ]
1. Download this archive (190MB) http://www.multiupload.com/NIIJC5BK83 which conatins two files od the official GB 512: U8800PV100R001C00B512G00.zip (you can also download it from the Huawei but it is too slow and the provided docements in chainees)
2. Extract it on your external sdcard (format it in fat32). this means that inside dload folder there must be two files namely UPDATE.APP and UPDATE_g.APP
Note: I have tried several times to copy the extracted file to internal memory (emmc) via adb push command but it fail due to the large file of UPDATE_g.APP (375MB) therefore use any external SD
3. Put the sdcard in your mobile again and turn it on while pressing three buttons at the sametime vol+, vol- and power button. This is the pink screen mode.
4. The update to the official 2.3.5 (the B512 which can be rooted) should start and your mobile will be rebooted. This step will take about 3 min to complet
5. After finishing turn your mobile on. IDEOX splash secreen will be presented (may take 1 - 2 min) after that android splash secreen will appear.
6. Root your mobile. to root your mobile, you can follow this steps of That-Guy'a thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728
İF you tried to install CM7 or MIUI from the recoverry mode you can get an error
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:verification failed
Installation aborted
Therefore you need to re-copy ClockworkMod v5.5.0.4 (you can use linux to copy the file .cust_backup/image folder while you are in pink mode)
also you can find another version (CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7) on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343276
7. You will now able now to install CM7 or MIUI.
special thanks to That-Guy and matteof93

[Q] first time root and flash

ok so there are so meny threads and videos around about rooting and flashing a new rom, my proplem is that i am not an expert, they all give different info, programs to use ect... im a little nervous that i might use the wrong program or miss something and wind up with a brick...
i am using an acer a501 running android v 3.2
so if i understand correctly i need to.....
1.revert back to andriod 3.0.1 (not sure how yet)
2. download iconiaroot1.3, unzip, copy it to sd card (settings set to allow unknown and debug on)
3.install iconiaroot on tablet
4. open and run iconiaroot
5. now rooted
im i correct? did i miss something?
ok assuming all that is correct can i now flash a custom rom?
if so is the process similar? install rom onto sd card and install?
Correct. Just one step more
6. Before installing custom ROM you will need to install Acer Recovery Installer and flash custom recovery.
Root A501
Download a file manager if you don't already have once such as astro file manager or es file explorer. Also download Acer Recovery. Download both of these from the market.
Step 1. To downgrade to 3.0.1 to be able to root first thing you want to do is download this file here
http://depositfiles.com/files/64bo1ivat
Step 2. Once downloaded it copy the update.zip file into the root file of your sd card. the root folder on the sd card is in the tablets internal memory not an external sd card.
Step3. Turn off the tablet and once turned off press and hold the power button and volume down button. Don't release until you see the green andriod with the gears moving.
Step 4. Once tablet has booted back up check to see which version the tablet is running. To Check go to settings....about tablet...and underneath android version make sure the tablet is running 3.0.1
Step 5. If the tablet is running 3.0.1 then download this file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138228
This is a link to a xda thread that has iconiaroot-1.3.apk.
Step 6. Download iconiaroot-1.3.apk
Step 7. Before opening iconiaroot make sure in settings....applications that unknown sournces is checked then click development and make sure usb debugging is checked.
Step 8. Now open iconia root and hit root.
Step 9. Run acer recovery
Step 10. Select clockworkmod recovery and instal recovery image.
Step 11. Click this link
http://depositfiles.com/files/vwaavz1pa and download TLSS_A501_3.2_Little_Honey.zip
Step 12. Once downloaded you will have 1 zip file. Rename it update.zip and transfer it do the tablets sd card.
Step 13. Turn the tablet off. Then press power and volume down to run cwm.
Step 14. Once at cwm screen use the volume buttons to go up and down. go down and instal from sd card and hit power to select it. Then select apply sdcard/update.zip then select yes and it will instal
Step 15. Once update is done go back and click reboot system now
Step 16 Go to settings about tablet and double check your updated.
Step 17. Have Fun!!!!
Hey I am trying to root my acer, and ive followed all of these directions up until step 11.. The honey.zip file tht is provided isnt installing. Ive tried installing from the internal sd and the external sd with no luck, I think the file itself may be corrupt. Do I NEED to do this update before I can flash a custom rom?
It looks that Honey.zip IS a custom ROM (don't know for sure).
You're rebooting into recovery and trying to install from sdcard?
Are you receiving any errors? What exactly is happening?
Don't bother renaming to update.zip.... Just select "Install zip from sd card" in CWM...
And no, you can use ANY custom rom at that point...
Remember to wipe all data before flashing
cache - dalvik- battery stats -flexrom etc. etc.
Obviously, you should backup your data previously and then you can restore them

Problem with my X5 u8800-51 -> reboot looping

Hi people, I have a problem with my phone, I tried to flash it with MIUI 1.12.16 and it seems that something doesn't works because my X5 is rebooting all the time. I follow this tutorial in spanish (http://www.mobilecloseup.com/foro/showthread.php?t=949447) but I will translate it here:
1. First of all download this *.rar http://www.wupload.com/file/2650874587/U8800-51_a_Gingerbread-MIUI.rar which contains 5 folders: dload, MIUI 1.12.16 Multi lenguaje (multilanguage), Recovery Alternativo (CWM 5.0.2.7) [or alternative Recovery], Recovery Original (2.2) and Root para Gingerbread.
2. Format SD card and backup everything.
3. Copy to SD card the "dload" folder and the MIUI zip file which is into the "MIUI 1.12.16 Multi lenguaje" folder of *.rar.
4. Turn off the phone, then push at the same time the two buttons of volume and the on/off button to enter to bootloader mode (pink screen).
5. Inside the new disk unit opened in Windows, copy recovery.img file which is into "Recovery Original (2.2)" of the *.rar into the image folder, just in case if you change original recovery in replace of the clockworkmod one.
6. Extract safely disk unit, take off battery, put again into phone and turn on.
7. Then go to settings, SD & Storage and choose SD update, then accept everything and phone will flash the update to Gingerbread, will reboot during some time and after 5-10 minutos will reboot for the last time.
8. Now you have your phone with Gingerbread 2.3.5 stock, but the aim is to flash MIUI, so the next step is to go to Settings, then Applications and disable quick boot option.
(everything OK until this step... problems started since this point)
9. Erase dload folder from SD card and turn off the phone.
10. Push two volume buttons + on/off button at the same time again to enter to bootlander, then open image folder into the new disk unit and copy to a safe place the boot.img file to backup it, then copy the boot-room.img file which is into the "Root para Gingerbread" folder of *.rar to the image folder and rename it to boot.img, then extract device, take off battery, put again into phone and turn on as usual.
11. You will realize that your phone will be rooted. Now turn off again and do the same procedure but copying into image folder the boot.img file that you backed, also backup the recovery.img file which is into image folder and replace it with recovery.img file which is into "Recovery alternativo" folder of *.rar.
12. Reboot your phone and then turn it off, then push at the same time volume on button + on/off button to access recovery.
13. Just optional: You can backup ROM Stock in Backup option.
14. Choose Wipe Data & Factory Settings, then Mounts & Storage and select format /system.
15. Choose flash zip from sdcard and select from SD Card MIUI *.zip folder that you copied at the very first step.
16. Tap yes and MIUI will be flashed.
I attached some screenshots of what I have in my image folder from bootlander. This is the problem. As I said, my phone is rebooting all the time since I turned on and there is nothing that I can do I finished at the 16th step, please I need your help. If you need more info please ask here, I don't know if I can show you more details because I cannot turn on my phone.
Thanks in advance.

How to update to Latest version (Step by step help required.)

I am having Honor 7 from UAE with build number PLK-L01C185B120. How do i update to latest build B320 or B330? which ever is stable and official one.
Phone was previously only updated once by updater from which version I didn't notice. So how do I go about updating? downgrade first?
Pl note the steps below
1. Go to Settings -> about phone -> android versions
2. Check for compatibility of downloaded firmware (check attached compatibility note by honor (refer attached note)
Procedure:-
There are two methods to upgrade: normal upgrade and force upgrade.
Normal upgrade needs to start the handset and enter the System Update module. Force upgrade is just used when the handset can’t boot up or can’t enter the idle screen.
Note: While upgrading SD version do not connect to the PC through USB.
A) Forced Upgrade operations
B) Normal upgrade
Step 1. Format the Micro SD card (This operation is optional).
Step 2. Copy the Software: main package UPDATE.APP to a directory named dload.
Step 3. Copy the entire dload folder (with UPDATE.APP in it) to the root directory of the Micro SD card.
Step 4. Insert the Micro SD card into the handset and power on. After entering the home screen, To find System Update application, press Dialer->press *#*#2846579#*#*->select Software Upgrade->select SDCard Upgrade-> ok to start the upgrade.
Force upgrade
Step 1. Format the Micro SD card (This operation is optional).
Step 2. Copy the Software: main package to a directory named dload.
Step 3. Copy the entire dload folder (with UPDATE.APP in it) to the root directory of the Micro SD card.
Step 4. Make sure your handset is power off. Insert the Micro SD card into the handset. Press the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN key, and then press the POWER key to power on the phone and enter the Software Upgrade Mode.

1. UPDATE.APP can be found in downloaded firmware by extracting.
2. B330 version is not suitable for LA model and that's why I mentioned earlier to check the compatibility of firmware . When you download and extract the firmware, you will find three files. 1) updater.app, 2. compatibility declaration and third about open source declaration.
3. Default updater hardly works for someone. So don't worry about that.
4. Its better to throw money in downloading firmware (data charges) but do not flash uncompatible rom and brick the mobile

Download b320 version and check whether compatible with your region and version b120

So far I have tried two roms b121 and b320 both are for the region of C432 (EU i guess) and result in failure immediately as soon as the process of update start. Both roms are not compatible for b120 but i tried anyway.
so now my question is how to change my region c185b120 to c432b121 so i can use b320 firmware to update?
btw I have unlocked the bootloader using multitool but still no change in failure.
Change region by debranding option found in honor 7 multi tool just follow the procedures there flash stock recovery of b100 and use the force update method mentioned to flash the whole rom of c432b100 after downloading it it will erase your data then you will recieve b121 upadate after ota you can update manually to b180 after that and you are good to go
I was on c185b120 now iam on c432b180 waiting the mm
---------- Post added at 04:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:17 AM ----------
The mentioned options you will find in multitool debranding ..flashing stock recovery
if force update failed after flashing stock recovery use the method you already used and failed with you with the rom c432b100 and it wont fail isa as it becomes compatible just follow instructions in multitool and becareful

Nougat update

Hello everyone. Please send me a link who captured the official nougat update ota zip. Because I am not a techy guy. I only able to do method 1
{Just Save the downloaded file to Root of SD Card [External Memory Card and not Internal Memory] and go to Settings --> About Phone --> System Updates. Update will be auto recognized and user will be prompted to apply update.}
Iam still not got official update notification. But I want nougat very eagerly. I am very happy I someone help me.
Didn't captured anyone?
Anyone capture the ota:
When you receive an OTA notification, DON'T download it. To capture the OTA, follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Download Terminal Emulator from the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ww.apk4fun.com).
2. Open Terminal Emulator and type: "logcat > /sdcard/ota.txt" (without quotes).
3. Go back to the OTA notification & click on download.
4. When the download process is starting, switch back to terminal emulator & close it.
5. Browse to your SD Card using any file manager. There you'll find a file named "OTA.txt". Open it & search for OTA download link in it.
That's it.
