Obviously I have an Epic 4G. I have had an Epic since Day 2. The only change I have done to my phone recently is that I have installed Cyanogen Mod 7 (alpha) for the first time. I've installed many other roms before.
I just wanted to check if other epic users (with or without Cyanogen) were receiving this email. Did installing CM7 make me get this email?

I personally have not tried running cm7 yet. but they do use some type of nexus S authentication for the marketplace. On other devices people have reported receiving such email when using cm7.

CM did it, we got these with the Hero too, once CM6 was installed.

the hero was a good phone while it lasted but it sucked
i used to get these emails all the time when i switched roms on both the hero and epic it was annoying

I get misty eyed too. But I think most people would just call it crying. I've been holding out for a dual core to come out.

I also received this email this morning. I have not installed CM7. I DID install Das BAMF 2.0 last night. Could it be due to something in Gingerbread?

16 of these in the past 15 hours. very annoying.

Netflix currently doesn't have any SUPPORT on ANY Gingerbread ROM.
There are a few Custom GingerSense Roms that can use the Modded Netflix

I may be completely wrong about this, but I seem to remember using Netflix alright with CM7. My memory is pretty much shot though, so I wouldn't rely on anything I have to say about anything.

CM7 isn't using the Gingerbread Framework, it's using the FROYO framework

Well I didn't update to gingerbread, I am still using sprint lovers rom but somehow my netflix stopped working couple days ago. What gives?

EVO on CM7 is running Gingerbread as well and it works. No Netflix in the Market on SavagedZen 2.3.4 though.

Netflix does not work on the EVO 4G running the new 2.3 gingerbread software

Netflix has currently dropped support for all Android Devices except the HTC Incredible. It looks like every other device that was ok'd was running 2.2 and was updated and dropped. For those thinking that it's a 2.2 to 2.3 issue, that possible, but the app does work with 2.3 as we can see from the LG Revolution...
They are expecting an update within 2 weeks to reestablish the DRM and security settings. For now, the App has been pulled from the market and will reappear when the fixes are complete.

This means Stratosphere will come out soon. That will help us on MIUI and CM7 etc, because it's kernel source will help us.

Thanks. Not sure why that happened.

Awesome! Glad I wasn't the only one who was looking forward to this phones release. Hopefully it'll get us some help with building/porting stuff, as well as some helpfull Devs that might be willing to lend our community a hand

I remember my old moment got its second life and froyo that was ported from the transform, it would be pretty sad though if we could get a ported gingerbread only weeks from official release though.

I just want CM7 on our Epic and if it comes by way of official GB for our Epic or from getting the things we need from the Stratosphere version of GB, then I'll be happy. As long it can tie me over until the Prime or SGS III, I will be satisfied.

I think that's just a software limitation and it could be fixed by modifying the kernel settings.
For example, when I had my HD2 with stock Windows Mobile 6.5, the maximum recording resolution I managed to get was ~ 640x480 .
with hacked Android 2.3 installed (Ported from the Desire) it jumped to 800x600!.
with hacked Windows Phone 7 (Ported from the HD7) it jumped to 1280×720!!!.

How can they ship that phone with 2.3 but we cant get a working 2.3 update for the Epic? It's nearly the same phone.

Because it is Samsung, they did the same with the moment when the transform was the same phone redesigned.

Oh trust me I know all about that stupid Moment since I had one before the Epic. LOL

I remember the moment, thanks to mrwrx for getting us froyo when even samsung couldn't was great. It was a fun ride when he was very quickly fixing the issues (proxmity sensor, camera upside down, gyroscope broken) those were the good old days at sdx lol.

I wouldn't say it's dead. But there's only so much we can do when we are already running stock + there's no honeycomb source. I think things will pick up once ICS source drops.

Yes, Moto has announced that we will.

More likely this is the calm before the storm. Everybody sits and waits for ICS to drop.

Updated OTA to latest version but...

So I recently unrooted my phone to have Sprint connect it to their services. I updated to the newest software version 2.3.5 but, nothing changed as far as the sense goes. It's still the same old sense since like 2.2. And what I mean it doesn't have the theme changer or shortcuts in the drop down menu. Am I missing something?
I remember unrooting my old EVO to see what the OTA updates were like a while back and seeing the new features. But I remember having to install that update via Sync. Problems is I looked on HTC's website and all over googleville and couldn't find it anywhere. Can somebody please help me with this? And possibly refresh my memory on how to do it via Sync. Thanks in advance.

HTC never updated us to sense 2. Kinda sucks really...HTC even updated phones with less ram and slower processors (for example htc wildfire) but left us with the OG EVO on the old original Sense.
Kinda bullsh*t if you ask me but whatever at this point I get to upgrade in Novemeber, though I would still like to see sense 2 before then.

It wasn't the full sense 2 but it has some of the features like the new lock screen, the drop down menu shortcuts to WiFi networks and such. And the themes changer

Those features have never existed on the stock ROM for the EVO 4G. You must've been running a custom ROM.

Those features came on my evo. I rooted and went to aosp, but they are on my stock ROM

You had quick settings in the Notification pulldown and the Sense 3.0 lockscreen stock on your EVO? I don't think so . . .

I am running stock software and I can assure you it does not have quick settings and the unlock screen is the same as my old Hero had so there is no difference. You can download the app called quick setting which will give you the settings in the pull down menu but this is not from HTC.

Oh well maybe I was mistaken but those features are on the stock EVO shift. I don't think I can root since I hot Tue 2.3.5 update

Oh so what would I use to root it? Unrevoked 3 or Forever or another method. Because for some reason my computer can't perform ADB correctly so a manual root is out of the question. Is there a little bit of info for rooting from 2.3.5 somewhere I could reference?

Ummm why would I want to do that? I have an EVO 4G not a Shift. My girlfriend has the shift so that's why I said whatever I did about the shift

You have to use HTCDev.com to unlock the bootloader on the 2.3.5 version, which allows you to get root. The only other exploit is TacoRoot, which allows you to downgrade to a version rootable with unrEVOked or Revolutionary (you can likewise downgrade after unlocking with HTCDev).
