[Q] ICS Framework (MIUI) - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey Guys,
I found this page, where they have download links for builds that are so called 'framework merges'.
Now, as I have no clue what that means, my intention is also not to start a complete unnecessary happyfest on XDA, but that page has a download link for the HD2 as well. This is also for MIUI builds.
http://galnetmiui.co.uk/landing/ics-builds/
Now, can anybody tell me how useful this might be? Is it something we should be happy about? Is it something that is useless and our magicians are already further with cooking than these framework builds?
Honest question, honest attempt to learn something about this

I'm not sure about galnet, they've been banned from xda for breaking gpl laws and using questionable donation tactics. Also I've not seen anyone verify that its actually using the ics framework (but I've not seen anyone disprove it either). I'd wait for official miui ics, shouldn't be too long now

Developers Wanted!!

Okay, I am putting together a team of developers to work on MIUI for our Epic. I have a few dev's already on board and we would like as many as possible to work on it! If you are interested PLEASE reply to this thread or PM me. I've got an IRC set up and we'll make sure to make it a team effort!
First. Sorry iSaint...
is ahmgsk not working on it anymore?
I thought that there was one being worked on still is all.
... Edited: Sorry I went to his old thread on sense and someone said he moved on to another phone perhaps.
Im so willing to test if that helps

That's always been the problem. Lots of testers, but not enough devs. Is there a good how to?

Id gladly be a tester also. If u want a tester pm me. I have plenty of time for testing and reporting issues
MiUi is built from source, right? If it wasn't, I might actually be able to help

Learning to be a dev takes a while because you need to develop skills that are necessary to code and such. Habits such as writing clean code and commenting out parts of code also need to be formed. I took an introductory comp. science course in college, but i haven't really practiced nor even attempted to look at developing for android as i know its a whole new world and i simply do not have the time to do it. But ladies and gentlemen, if you want to do it, nothing is stopping you, but just be sure that it is NOT easy and will take a couple of years or more until you are able to help with more than just bug testing unfortunately. And before anyone says that i am flaming or trolling, i am not, i am simply stating the truth and on top of that, I am in the same boat as you are, helpless to the devs. All I can do is donate some of my paycheck every now and then for exceptional work. I and we all owe it to these devs for making our phone work well and, as far as I'm concerned, they deserve it.
I would also love to help, but I just now started learning code on my "free" free time, its hard to remeber the format of the code, just that alone is a nightmare...
DOS was childs play compared to writing anything for android, I'm a pc guy, used to using windows UI or DOS back in the day when I was 14...

while we're on the topic, to what books are you referring ??
I'm definitely interested in some reading material.. while I can't help w/ coding and such (right now) I think it's a good time for me to get started reading and playing (on my device anyway)
I have tried MIUI
I honestly just dont care much for it it is built from its own source originally built in asia it is coded in I believe chinese and ported over to english and thus has been ported to different devices it was first ported to the og droid it is not built from aosp or any other android released source it is a ui built all its own.

Hey chill out and stop shouting.
I presumed building a kernel module was development rather than general.
Anyone tried sourcing this kernel driver from samsung, for our tab?
development means... you build something and post it to share with others... not asking question...
btw... answer for your question... nope... the device currently lack of developer... so i dont know if any dev try it before...
Did you bother reading were this thread is now.
Pity this place has so many wanna be admins
If you can't add then why bother posting at all?
i know its in proper forum now... but just to inform about it... if i do make you feel somewhat uncomfortable... i'm sorry.. ^_^
You and 100 others.
That's what admins are for and they do it respectfully, thankfully.

Alirez_sos the developer has been in the General forums and has said there maybe a new release sometime on Saturday, fingers crossed.
The thread for Sabsa 3.0 was closed for a dispute over permissions to use code from other roms, hopefully the new rom will iron all of that out and see can start using the best sense 4 out there for the DHD.

If you dont want that, dont do open source.
For example, I've spent a lot of time to fill GPS maps on OpenStreetMap, I ask no thank you, I did it for the community, it is open source, it is to think of others not to move wasting time, then time is wasted and we lost one of the best DHD ROM, for a thank you... in this case thank EVERY Android developers Android in google team, and all those who helped to get there, the list goes on...
Use search next time & post in the correct sections.

Sense ROM from Chinese developers

Here's a pretty cool gingerbread sense ROM I found on Chinese websites:
MOD EDIT: Link removed
Its called Huho Slide.
Note that this is not my ROM.
Let me know if you have downloading issues.

Well, first off, if it not your ROM then it doesn't go in Dev. Moving to General.
Edit: Sorry, just noticed it was 4shared, not allowed due to signup requirements. Removing link, thread closed.
Thank you,
mikef
P.S. I decompiled it to see if it was a kang, looks like yes and carrierIQ and who knows what else in there.....

Yeah, I tried it... It has no advantages over AOKP. It makes no sense. I don't even know why they develop it. I don't think they know either, whenever somebody asks them what is special about their rom, they are silent.

Don't go around saying what u don't know.Yes now Omni has nothing too special apart from multi window and a special performance control centre. But the rom was created as a rom and project. You think @Chainfire @XpLoDWilD @maxwen and many others will just get up and stupidly start doing sth? Those devs are some of the top and best devs on xda with both alot of experience and software knowledge any of us may never get.You want to know what is special, learn to read before posting shear ignorance.Watch videos, read blogs!Omni was launched to create and gear dev ideas into this rom.If sth new is added and works well they would then open source it for anyone to continue dev't.If they take an idea they can make it better and after publish their methods and tools for others to pick up and make it even better. If they create sth, same thing they'll publish it for others to use. They also aim at ending half baked features by using user feedback to choose what features are more relevant and what not. It's all about ideas coming to one place, becoming pulished and leaving stronger all with a user having great input. It's bare now but every rom started there even CM or your AOKP.Btw if @maxwen stops Find 5 AOKP dev't I'll see how you'll brag about AOKP for this device. He drives AOKP for the find 5 and now Omni.Do you even know the meaning of AOKP?Show respect for that!
