Which ROM is being used widely ? - Galaxy S II General

Lets see how many users are using Custom Rom , Stock Samsung ROM , MIUI or CM7....
Vote at your will.

Using my own custom sammy rom . I like to put my own touch to them lol. CM7 is ok but i find anything AOSP roms have flaws but props to the devs.

My custom ROM too. Aosp.
Sent from HydrOG3N MOD S2.

HydrOG3N is THE Revolution.

Oxygen 2.3.2, or HydrogenMod.
Aosp for me all the way.

To be fair, stock would be the most used rom.

Heh, true that. I guess most people are just using stock roms, maybe with a custom kernel. This phone works fine the way it is actually, there are just some little flaws that can be fixed with a couple of hacks, and some colours which are a bit out place, but we have some nice themes after all.
Aosp roms are blazing fast tho, really unrivaled in terms of smoothness if you wanna play games...the problem with those is that they aren't 100% bug free as the ones i was using on my Desire, so i find it hard to use them as a daily driver for more than a few days every now and then on this particular phone.

Hyperdroid androidmeda with speedmod kernel.

Galnet MIUI ICS builds. Far better than anything else.

stock 2.3.5 PT + juicedefender
thats it

checkk
CheckROM with ICS syndicate theme work perfect for me!

You're going to get a biased result asking on xda, as its where people who like modding go. Most users will not know about xda or bother with custom roms and be using stock

im a little bit confused because i come from nexus one, where the biggest part use CM builds, but here there seems to be a more even distribution among users..... any special reasons?

Was on cognition for a long while. on darky ROM now.

I prefer Samsung custom roms because they are so freakin smooth. Excellent stock browser, I love TouchWiz and the launcher, superb camera interface, and an awesome video player app.

Hyperdroid all the way-official ROM of the 2012 Olympics.

You guys wants me to add more poll items for Custom Stock ROM ?

I'm trying out omega and liking it so far,
Reason why the large distribution is because really, the phone works as is pretty well. It just needs a few tweaks to get rid of that garbage late night battery full alert and a couple other things. Since most people are looking for stock + tweaks, there's a lot of different tweaks available.

WajkIUI... i hope the spelling is right.. excellent ROM

Closest stock android rom??

Hi, sorry if its been asked before but is there a rom that is close to stock android? If so which is it?
Thanks

Why don't you just stay with the stock ROM?
Think the op was asking closest to stock android not stock sgs2
Cm7 looks like stock but has loads of extra goodness. Not for beginners and its still a wip but still.. well its ace the devs are doing magic stuff

Yeah I tried cm on my desire hd it was quite good but always went back to sense as I liked it, but in my opinion touchwiz is a bit more stock androidy feel to it rather than sense , so wanted to go all out and just try out stock android , so the cm rom, is it available yet? Obviously not stable I take it??
Oh I would also like to ask if someone can tell me is what's the difference between cm stable and nightly builds??
I think I can assume what stable means but never knew what a nightly build was??
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Its not 'stable' yet for sgs2 in fact the first nightly only came out today.
Stable releases are known quantities I.e set milestones whereas nightly builds have commits added as they're submitted... nature of the beast some will fix stuff some might cause issues. Pot luck.
Stick with stable builds (there isn't one for sgs2 yet) if you want something rock solid without the occasional gremlin or two.
I quite like touchwiz but always run launcherpro so rarely bump into tw!

Oxygen ROM on the Nexus-S is AWESOME. It is a pure vanilla stock Android style ROM, no bloatware, no carrier UI, but just the way Google meant Android to be. And it is crazy fast and smooth, with great battery life, can only imagine the Galaxy S2 would be out of this world with this ROM.
yes it feels blazing fast '

Well, look at MIUI-Galnet, they HAD to move away from XDA because of their donation schemes (Something to do with new devices) I think with Oxygen & DevNull it's just an agreement with the CM7 team since Oxygen is the same just a different framework. Not sure really.
But, all in all, I prefer AOSP always have, it's what I miss about my Nexus S & One basicalle

Not entirely true, the reasons Adamg moved away from XDA were the lack of moderation here and the 'dumb' questions being posted here. Those are also the reasons most devs move away here...

i totally agree! but my "problem" is, the SGS2 is just so freakin fast, i never had any speed issues on the stock rom and battery life isnt very different.... i WANT to use oxygen, but with this phone i would just get less features (no ukw-radio e.g.) :-/
(and if i dont want some crap/bloatware, i just remove/freeze it with titanium)
totally different story on other phones, Oxygen on my Desire was a total game-changer, just unbelievable what a difference it was compared to the stock htc rom!

Yes, this is the funny thing that I ended up using a Samsung ROM (Cognition) after trying all the other options simply because it is fast as well, but has all the extra features (most importantly - for me - the wide video format support and the hw accelerated browser). It seems that Samsung is the first manufacturer that finally starts to get the hang of cooking a functional and fast ROM .
I am using this rom and I think it is simple, fast, good on battery life. I will keep it for a while. Thanks to Adam and the poster.

[Q] What is your favorite ROM?

Hey guys, I know this may have been asked a few times already but I wanted to know what your favorite ROM's are as of 2012? I am currently running Legendary ROM 2.2 and I can't say I have any complaints so far. It has only made my phone go from a piece of turd to a diamond. Let me know what you guys like.

And why! Don't just drop a ROM name. Mention which are your favorite features and which other ROMs you might have tried. Maybe this thread will stop the questions "what's the best ROM". Basically it was always asking "what ROM are you using" Because those were the results.
So far legendary has been the best for me! I have tried out thunderhawk (laggy for me) mostly stock (too stock for me)... well let's just say I have tried them all and I always end up back to legendary... it has the perfect balance of themeing, stability, and performance IMO!

Thunderhawk 3.3 has just about every mod I want and runs super smooth with my usage. I like the professional theming and awesome balance of stability, performance, and battery life. I am biased as I help random with some minor debugging at times. There are lots of ways to run your setup, the key is finding what fits your usage. We are all pretty lucky to have so many excellent choices.

Clean GB MTD
MIUI··············
Currently Legendary 2.2 with adw launcher, didn't really care for the launcher that came with it.
Went from Stock EI22 Gingerbread to CleanGB (MTD) to CM7. CM7 rocks!
RandomROM 3.3
Roms used
So far I have used Marcusants ASC roms 5.1 - His V.2 was a fan of the speed, but just not stable. And I'm not a fan of V.2 with the red color theme. I have also Tried MIUI 1.12.23 which worked good, but i like having the app drawer which this did not. I am currently running CleanGB 1.03 with no issues. It is a stable rom, running 4g without issues and installed gtalk w/video. Next on the list is the new CM7 version which seems to have gotten Wifi stable as well as 4g working.
I have to test out all the roms and supply to all the friends/family that have the epic so they dont end up calling me for every error they get
Legendary RC 2.1 rocking my allblue theme on MTD.
CleanGB MTD is a great ROM. No problems, good battery life. Love it

[Q] Seriously...which one is Better?

Hey folks! My buddy just got the Galaxy Note and I was telling him about the awesome Developer custom firmware and mods...BUT then he told me, nothing beats the Official Firmware aka GingerBread with, in my opinion the Horrible TouchWiz UI. So I wanted to know your thoughts?
Am I wrong about TouchWiz being a bad representation of the Beauty of Android and not being Optimized for the Note...or am I biased?
All responses are welcome
Obviously it depends on what you prefer but i definitely prefer custom roms cause a) they usually are a lot smoother and b) they look better. And of course there's couple features you don't have on stock. Have a try?

I love ICS to death, but the lack of toggles in the notification bar really put a damper on things. I would recommend a Custom ICS ROM like CM9, or the sorts. Just look through the threads to see which was has the least amount of problems, or suits you best.

My absolute ideal ROM would be a proper AOSP ROM(With fully optimized and compiled kernel) and Samsung's premium suite S-Note app. But for now I'm happy with AOSP CM9 ROM that I've been using as a daily diver.

TOTALLY agree with you.
my perfect ROM is 100% AOSP experience(no more touchwiz please) with FULL S-Pen functionality.
this would be perfect.
I'm still on stock GB, as I have a custom ICS ROM on my tablet and don't see the new features as enough of a reason to void my warranty having played with it for a while - and I'd like to get premium suite when it comes out too.
I did like TW when I first got the Note, especially the list display of the apps menu, but having tried various launchers (inc. sPB shell) I keep ending up back with ADW Ex which I love the tweakability of. It takes a while to learn what the different settings do but you can get a great UI experience from it once you've got it set up just right. I think TW would be so much better if you could tweak it a bit more to your own preferences.
I probably will root my Note and install a lean, custom ROM once my year's warranty is up, just for the performance benefits and lack of bloatware, but for now I'm happy with GB.

whichever one you currently have
Very stable, CM7 (last nightly) !
But you have to test and convince yourself!

Like the others have said, it truly is up to you and that's not being vague, you see people can choose a rom, but then tweak that rom to suit their own preference.
But having said that, the reason why I like using MokeeOS is because of all the roms that I have tried (not many <10), I have found it to be insanely quick to startup and use the camera which is important to me.

Epsilon Project Final V5 + Webtop 2.3.6
I have tried Many of the ROMs available on this site.I like many different things about each ROM.My favorite is to start with ATT 236.141 debloat it,change the kernel, add my stuff. Everything works on it.If your worried about benchmarks it will score as high as others with blur, webtop, and all docks.
stock blur rooted, unlocked, and debloated
after the ICS drivers, who knows? could be any of the roms, but I will probably pick one that still supports webtop.
I think ROM choice depends on the needs of
Distinct feature of atrix is webtop
So if you want to use webtop or any webtop mods like ubuntop gentop etc you will need blur based rom
I would suggest Nottachtrix ROM
then there are CM7 based ROMs where fingerprint scanner works but you will have to sacrifice webtop
Eg. Mrom/ neutrino Rom
I currently run and would suggest you Mrom but again that is my preference you might like something else
Then there are roms like mokee/joyos/miui
Their major plus point is they all look beautiful and miui/mokee have many beautiful themes
So if you want to have a good looking phone go for them
Hope this helps you understand why people suggest you to try different ROMs and choose on your own..some people can live without webtop some cannot so its upto you to choose what exactly you want
Cheers!

After using CM9 and CM10, going back to any gingerbread based rom is painful. If you can live with the shortcomings (lack of drivers) of CM9/10, they are by far better experiences than CM7 or Stock.
Epinter's CM10 works best for me, u should try it
