Hello,
Ive been an iphone user for the longest time and wanted an introduction to the android world so I picked up a droid x with clean esn for a really decent price.
The original problem was that it was stuck at the boot loader screen with an error code, I was able to get to a clean boot loader screen with cam+vol down and power, where I attempted to flash back a stock image. The boot loader showed 30.04.
The flash failed, and my screen was stuck at "SW Update in Progress" or similar, after which the unit completely powered down and has not come back up since.
I have tried new batteries, charging stock battery, all the tricks for trying to turn it on, removing battery and putting back in etc. and I cannot get any sign of life from the device besides a green charge light when plugging in via USB to computer (no light when plugged into wall charger). A couple times I could get the usb connection/disconnection sound from windows, but now I cant even seem to get that.
About to sell it on ebay for parts but wanted to check with the pros first to see if there is any other options I can try.
Thanks.
Try getting another, fully charged, Droid X battery, and using it to attempt the SBF process.
Then try to SBF the device.
Edit: Which SBF file did you try to flash the phone with?

Well, I bought a new battery on ebay with a charger, charged that over 24 hours, charged the OEM one for 24 hours.. not a response.
New battery read 4volts on multimeter, OEM read around 2.5.
I think I flashed it with VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf
Attached is the log from the flash if it helps
ended up selling it for $50 so someone thought they could either use it for parts or fix it, which is just as well I only paid $25 for it.
Thanks guys.

Let me give you the run down. I recently bricked my phone trying a 2.3.320 SBF update which got stuck on the M logo. I followed steps as on rootzwiki and got my phone working again, with the new 2.3.320 update. I backed up my cricket APN so the reflash wasn't to bad. I use Droid Overclock at low volts running 1.2Ghz. I have done so for months...never had an issue....ran smooth and fast.
After the new SBF update and re-rooting and running my usual overclock settings, my phone got a lil warmer then usual. I was removing bloat at this point, nothing else. I could not get it to boot into the homescreen...I thought this was unusual as I did not delete any important files ( just bloat ). So, I restarted it, so I thought.
I can not even get it to turn on and after several hours on the charger, It will not turn on! I can get into bootloader but all it states is
Batter Low
Cannot Program
When it's plugged into the USB on my computer, the LED light turns solid green and stays green unless I unplug it. I can not turn it on nor boot into recovery. Only thing I can do is load bootloader and get that exact same message everytime.
My phone is in mint condition. Nothing less then perfect....until today, until I loaded the new 2.3.320 using RSD Lite. Whats going on with my phone? Is it a goner? I will be heading to the VZW store for a brand new battery but I don't think it is the case.
Ideas? Anyone? Sad, sad day for my X...
I think the problem may be that you accidently removed the files necessary for it to charge. If you knew someone else that had the same phone, you could try charging your battery in his phone. That could possibly work.
It had 70% charge when I turned it off to reboot it the first time.
Wierdest thing, as I was reading your post...CWM just started up out of no where and out of excitment, I grabbed my phone and hit the camera button on accident and it rebooted, past the M logo but got stuck on the Droid animation! I had my chance to flash it back to a working nandroid and missed it.
Something wierd is going on here...
If you pull the battery, put it in, then plug it in you should go right to CWM. Keep playing with it until you make it in. I know my phone won't boot up (dead battery), but still gets to CWM.
Might have to jump start it
If the battery is too dead you'll either have to borrow a battery or cut a USB cable to 'jump start' it. I found a post with pictures on how to do it for mine, or look for one of my old posts where I describe it a little.
Use the wall charger. I have the same problem except when my phones dead it wont charge over a computer USB cause its not getting the correct voltage for it to charge. Try that if that's not the case then use another battery and sbf.

So i recently made the mistake of formatting everything on my Droid X. The System, Data, & Boot were all formatted using Bootstrap. I have a full Droid X backup, but i still can't get it to boot past the Motorola Logo. Whenever i have my Droid X on and plug it into the computer it is not recognized at all. Is there anyway i can bring my Droid X back? I also have a Droid X "sbf" file and RSDLITE.
I have also tried putting the Droid X into the default recovery mode, which is really all i can do with it. But it still does not get recognized by my computer.
Can someone please help me resolve this problem, so i can get it to boot and be recognized by my computer when it is plugged in via USB?
Thanks in advance.
You need the USB drivers. Then put the phone in bootloader mode and RSD lite should see it.

I have all USB drivers installed, but how do i put the droid x into bootloader mode? I've put it in recovery mode but don't know how to put it into bootloader mode.
Power button + camera button + volume down button.

A while ago I ran into a problem where my Droid X wouldn't boot and by the time I was ready to do the SBF my battery was dead.
If you can, borrow someone else's Droid X to charge your battery, or just use their battery. Or perhaps you can go to a Verizon store and they can put a charge on your battery for you.
But if that isn't an option for you don't worry. You'll need to sacrifice a USB cable. Take an old USB cable and cut the small end off, you'll need to strip the black and red wire. Take the battery out of your phone. Use electrical tape to tape the red wire to the positive terminal of the battery and black to negative. Plug the USB cable into your wall charger. I let mine sit like that for about an hour or a bit more and then I had enough charge in the battery to run the SBF.
Good luck!
Ok, thanks.
Yeah i saw them doing that with the battery on youtube, but wasn't sure if there was another way or not. But i guess ill just do that, because my phone has been off & not working for like 5 days. I need to get it back up & running asap. Im dying. I have plenty of usb & wall chargers i can use.
I tried to load up the new gingerbread roms from my current one. I downloaded its content and tried to install it via clockwork.
I first deleted system, logo, and cache followed up by a restore format. When trying to download the new rom, I was getting a weird error that was stopping me from completing the full installation. So basically was in a chokehold because I didn't have any backup files or another working rom in the sd at that time. I just restarted the phone and it for a few times was stuck on the M screen, but now its just green led when I plug it into the computer usb. When plugging it into the outlet, it imediately turns on stuck on the M screen and shuts off when unplugging as if the battery isnt charging at all.
Sounds like ur going to have to sbf.

bootloader is such a rare occurance for me, i just had it come out but it was flashing low battery. the thing is, im not quite sure if its charging if i have it plugged into the computer. when i have it plugged into an outlet, the M splash screen comes up so i'm worried that draining the power..
edit: now it flickers for a split second, am i supposed to hold on to it til something shows up? been like 1 minute
i dont think bricking phone blows your battery. at least i hope it doesnt, was working fine before.
Plug it in without the battery if a question mark comes up you ned to use another battery cuz it won't charge in boot loader and the boot loader should pop up right away hold power volume down and camera button it takes about three seconds
swyped from my DROIDX using XDA App
well its basically the same thing. when plug into the outlet it shows the m splash screen with or without the battery.
when its plugged into the compuiter however, its just flickers once. when it is done with the battery in, the led is on forever
EDIT: OBSERVATION
when on the wall, it is actually charging, but REALLY slowly because of the fact that the splash screen stays on. found this out because i had it in for30 min and then tried to connect mit to my comp with bootload and it loaded for a few minutes with the low battery flashing.
is version 320 the latest?
Okay. so it isnt charging as I though because its not working at all... problem is, I dont know if it truly is a battery defect. If I were to Buy a new battery, how would i know if it is charging if it doesnt boot and just stays stuck on the M logo screen?
perhaps I should by a battery charger where i take the battery out and charge it through there? because my bootloader always gives me the same low battery.
Do you have any friends with the same phone? There is also a macgyver (spelling?) Method of doing this by cutting the USB cable open and attaching the cable ends to the battery. However I would only do this if you're really desperate
i just really need make complete sure that this phone is INFACT dead battery
when not plug, it doesnt turn on what so ever with a white spark on the led.
when plugged nto outlet the logo shows but i isnt charging because it isnt booting
when plugged into the computer it is a solid green which i think represent a dead or a low battery state(can someone back thisup?)
Your battery is dead, as in drained, but should work fine once you get your phone to a bootable state again. The problem is that, in the state your phone is in, there's no charging capabilities. Bootloader won't do it, neither will sitting at the M logo. So, you just need to find someone with a compatible battery to let you use it to SBF your phone. Then, boot the phone up completely, and let your battery charge to at least 50-60% before trying to install a ROM. Preferably, I'd go with a full charge, just in case you end up in a similar situation again.
This is nothing to freak out over, you'll be fine.. the only problem you have is that your battery has no juice, as confirmed by the low battery warning in the bootloader, when you successfully got it to load.

thanks for the reassuring comment, however, i think i need to bootload.
i accidently did the partition hat formats everything.. cant recall if it was under clockwork because it didnt have the same interface, i was all light blue text with an ok button on the left corner. Anyway, i've completely destroyed the phone as in no roms no factory.
can I possibly get a dock to charge this battery and then get into bootloader for an sbf session
? Even if I did have battery, im pretty sure i just hover at the logo screen

You definitely need to use the bootloader, and I was implying that in the first reply(SBF'ing requires going into the bootloader). If you had a stand-alone battery charging cradle/dock, that should do the trick. Just make sure to let the battery charge sufficiently. I've successfully gotten an SBF completed, starting with only 30% battery. SBF takes about 7 minutes on my laptop(not that I've timed it, but I usually light up a smoke when I start the process lol). So, as long as the battery is charged enough to no longer give the "Low Battery" warning in the bootloader, you should be fine.
You got your usb cable and put the ends where the battery goes that's how I got mine working try it

i have unlocked my atrix fine, then failed to flash gingerbread, and so tried to flash back to the original tmobile 2.2.2, but during the sbf flash through terminal, it just stopped dead, then after a while rebooted the phone, and now it does nothing. except the green charge light comes on when plugged in via usb. the power button appears to do nothing, so i cant boot back into fastboot or RSD. help pleeease XD
*EDIT* i have just rebooted with fastboot after many tries to boot failed 4, which is ok i can deal with that, but also "battery to low to flash"
is the phone charging when the green light is on, even when it cant boot? if so thats fine and i'll delete the thread. many thanks

First Rule, always charge your battery to the full before flashing.
Second Rule, always read the instructions carefully beforehand. Most importantly the warnings.
Third Rule, always follow the steps exactly as described.
Fourth Rule, if u face any hiccups or problems please describe in detail. Which version of Atrix, which country, how were u flashing, how did u unlock, what steps did u follow.
tbh i didnt realise that the phone couldnt charge while in fast boot, never even crossed my mind to check. im ok getting the phone out of RSD etc, and am aware of all the warnings, i suppose the real issue here is that when i plug the phone in, it boots up to the fail to boot/RSD screen, and wont charge. is there any way i can force it not to try to boot? thanks
Unfortunately, this sounds like the classic bricking situation. However, more details are required to be sure. To start:
What GB file did you use to upgrade from froyo?
What exactly is your error message?

Buy an external battery charger so you can charge your battery. You can still flash ROMs when you have a fully charge battery using RSD Lite.
i tried to upgrade to GB with an orange sbf, since it seems from other forums tmobile people had had success with it. for whatever reason mine failed at the end, leaving me with RSD mode, then when i tried to flash back to the tmobile sbf from the Original sbf thread, the process just stopped part way through (it had worked fine before, with the same method) and again left me with RSD, but with low charge this time. is there no way around this without buying a charging station? i'd like to save money if possible, and with shipping the phone would be out of action for days, not ideal, though of course if its between that and an argument with tmobile about unlocking/waranty, i'll spend the £20 XD thanks

If you have a spare USB cable you can use it to charge the battery. Search on YouTube for how to charge any phone without a charger

do you mean charging with a stripped down usb cable? would that not cause the phone to still boot up? the videos i have seen before clamp the wires between the battery and phone terminals, i would of thought this would make the phone boot as it is, without charging since i only have RSD mode? if im wrong, thatd be great, but if not ive found a battery only charger for £0.99 XD

from what i remember someone posting who was in your situation, they did this and it gave their battery a charge. it's worth a try right?
Hi I'm having issues with my Motorola Atrix.
I tried loading a firmware, but I think I might have bricked it.
Whenever I boot up the phone now it gets stuck at the Motorola screen.
When I try to hook it up to a PC it won't turn on and the green LED light is the only thing that goes on.
If I plug it in to the wall it will boot, but only load to the motorola splash screen and stays there forever.
I get no error messages.
If I try to do a fast boot, the phone tells me the battery is too low to flash.
Does anything have any suggestions?
Edit: It looks like the phone won't charge. I bought a new battery, and it works at first, but once the phone dies it won't charge again.
Can you give more details....what you were installing and can you cycle through the other boot modes.
Sent from my MB860 running Jokersax's CM9
There are many threads about this, many threads! The new battery should have only had a partial charge, and wouldn't have lasted for long. Take a old usb cable and cut the end off and strip the insulation back and tape the appropriate ends to the appropriate contacts on the battery and let it charge for a bit. Then put the battery back in your phone and try again
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Could you direct me to one of those forums? I have looked and I can't find anything. Is there something physically wrong with the phone and can't charge?
