I get this error since yesterday, cant use android since it shows every second.
didnt install any new app, cant remember what was working when it start.
any solution for this issue?
I'm getting the error also, but my phone still works. Using the newest leaked ota rom.
something may have become corrupted on your sdcard. Best bet would be to format your card and start again.
i got the same error when i loaded too many apps and didn't had free space.
Guys I noticed it happens when you overcharge. I think that's what happened to me. And it happened after charging overnight everytime.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
then how do i fix it?
Reformat, reinstall
Has anyone found the cause of this yet? I'm getting it on a number of builds after a random period of time. Sometimes it happens within 5 mins of booting a new build and sometimes it happens 2 hours or so after a new build...very annoying
this is driving me mad! keep getting it no matter what build... are any of you using home launchers??? my dectective powers have discovered this could be a reason, gonna try reinstalling my build just the stock ui.
I tried formatting the sd card to not avail, and tried about 5 different build, but Ive found one I really like and want to keep it.
anyone else have any suggestions of what could be causing it, cause it ifs not that im about to throw my phone out a window. I cant keep reloading the build every day. Ive have to do it 8 times this week.
Most obvious question:
Have you wiped every possible left-over data from a previous build (Data, Cache, Dalvik?)
Most FC's happen because of corrupted/invalid data, so this might be the case.
If this isn't the case, Task29, Magldr, CWM, Rom of choice, a total reflash.
yup. i used brandnew everything the only thing I copied back onto the sd were photos.
I can only put builds on via sd cause the darn charging port on its bust. I have to swap the batteries over and charge with an external charger.
The Desire HD has got to be the best phone I have ever had, however I have now lost six memory cards to it.
I am running on the 1.32 version, as I've not upgraded the firmware since hearing some of the horror stories. I'm running the stock rom, and I'm always very careful when connecting my phone to the PC or removing the memory card (I.e I always make sure I unmount it first, etc).
I'd lost five memory cards when they came up saying it had been unexpectedly removed. There didn't seem to be a pattern. I returned the phone and got a new one after the third card, since last night I've now lost another three the same way.
The strange thing is that my friend also bought the same phone, two months after me, and has had the same problem (although has only lost two so far).
Does anyone know what else might be causing this? Any software that might be causing it? I've noticed that one or two of them have died shortly after I've taken a picture or video (like last night, for example).
I have tried to restore the memory cards by trying them in a PC, but it won't even let me format them to start over again.
I love this phone to bits, but I can't keep losing memory cards like this. There must be some reason for it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Wow that is crazy! I've had the phone for around 3 and a half months and I'm still rocking the 8GB that came with the phone. If it's software related flashing a newer rom could fix it.
I would suggest a custom rom since I've been pretty much running LeeDroid a few weeks after I got the phone and recently switched to CM7 and I never had this issue.
Flashing is pretty much straight forward, the chances of bricking are ... well I haven't heard of someone bricking a DHD. If you just follow the steps it won't take long and if you don't
read up enough the worst that could happen is a headache
Also, what kind of sd cards were you using? Brand/Size/Class?
I lost my 8gb card which came with my DHD the other day too. That was my first loss since I got the phone in October last year. The card can't be read on any other device either.
If it is software related then I would like to know so I can try to do something about it.

What are you guys doing with the cards? Is this happen during normal usage with the card inside the phone? Or after removing the card from the phone and use it somewhere else?

Sounds like flashing a custom ROM might be an idea. I have used a mixture of Samsung and Sandisk cards, all have been 8GB.

With both me and my friend, the cards have been in the phone all the time. The only time I've tried to remove it was to see if I could recover the files on a PC.
Also, like I said, a few times it seems to have occurred after taking a video or picture. In fact the second time I had one die, it seemed to be one particular HD video causing it, and once I had deleted the file by going through the PC, the memory card worked fine again.

The same thing happened to me. (mp3 instead of video) Android seems to be pretty picky about corrupt or somehow malformed files I guess.
Sort of leaves me wondering where I go from here.
Even if I replace the memory card, I'm on edge the whole time as to whether it's just going to die on me again!
Where did you get the memory cards?

Most premium memory cards these days, come with 5yr minimum guarantee try returning one of your dead cards to the manufacturer and see what they say? Personally I have never had an issue with my card and had a DHD from november but I have run custom ROM's (mainly CM) since root was achieved.
Ive had the DHD since the first week of uk release, im 3 cards down myself
No dead SD Cards here.
2 months on stock, 4 on custom roms

Same until the card died in my phone it has never been taken out by me, it arrived with the card in the phone on arrival and till last week its stayed there.
I have no idea what went wrong, I went to sleep after using it the night before. I woke up and the phone was sat at the sim pin prompt (so obviously failed in some form over night) when I checked my SMS later in the day they were all gone so I tried to restore from SMS Restore and it failed to find the file on the SD card. When I looked into it more I realised the card was dead.
Tried it on my laptop and work PC, AND my HD Camcorder and it does not register in any of them, its as if the controller on board the card has died rather than it corrupting the data on it.
Cant say I am impressed at the moment, I have the notification bug for SMS, it keeps removing the SMS database, failed to lock onto WiFi in some occasions unless I disable then enable wifi, and now its destroyed a microSD card. Think I shall be off back to an iphone next.

I've had my memory cards from various places. I had the one that came with the original handset, and then when I had my phone replaced HTC gave me another one with it.
Since then I've also purchased the rest from stores, and even two of them were the more expensive higher quality ones. All gone.
I have noticed this morning that I am able to access the card through my PC. The first three times I put it in, I got a message saying that it couldn't access it, and would need to format it. The fourth time I put it in, it's opened everything as normal. When I put it back in my phone, it comes up preparing SD card, and then a few seconds later says it's unexpectedly removed again.
Those that haven't had card issues, are you running a custom rom? If so, what do you think the best choice would be, and would it affect the normal day to day operation with things like use of the Android Market, etc?
My phone is stock and no customization.
Not sure what the correct route would be as the cards have been destroyed by our devices so would this be covered under card warranty?

I will be as short winded as possible - but I want to put detail together so that the awesome devs here can gain as much info to try and see if any of this can help to solve the elusive SD card fry..
I'm not kidding when I say my borked SD card fixed itself while in the phone this afternoon. Here is a detailed list of what took place today.
ROM: MIUI 1.8.5
Kernel : Glitch 11.1 HL
*** I noticed phone being very unresponsive/laggy first thing this morning. ran fine before i left for work but when i leave i switch to 3G, with switching from WIFI to 3G i saw a strange message in the status bar that flashed 2x for about 2 seconds each time that said "URL NOT FOUND" and then 3G kicked on.. i had to airplane mode it because data was showing as working but it wasnt. switched out of airplane 3G running fine.
*** drove to work, sitting in parking lot playing with phone before work.. while using the feedly app to read news, it suddenly froze and gave a COM.PROCESS error with force close.. i left that and it wouldnt let me back in to feedly. i then tried facebook. got a white screen and same - COM.PROCESS force close. the phone rebooted itself and came back up with the notifier in status bar about "SD CARD INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT OR NOT PRESENT" .. nothing i could do at that point, since i wouldnt be near a computer all day. all the apps worked fine all day, just no SD card.. this is the 2nd "fry" i have had..first was on JT kernel last week.
*** about 2pm, my phone chirped at me that i had a text message. i opened gmail first, since i had an email sitting there...read that, and as soon as i opened the text message (which was an MMS actually - a video to be precise) a pop up opened and said something to the effect of "USING SD STORAGE CAN ENHANCE YOUR EXPERIENCE, TURN ON NOW?" with an ok button.. i pushed OK and bing - sd card was working again.
the video MMS somehow triggered something that got the sd card to be readable again. its been running fine the last 2 hours, no error messages.
I hope this can help someone dig deeper and/or go in another direction to find the source of the sd card bug..
thanks for the info!
My SD Card fried while running CM7. Will try to send myself an mms to see if I get the same prompt.
GunM3tal - It was an mms video .. im not sure if that makes a difference.
I am also VERY curious what that "URL NOT FOUND" when switching from WIFI to 3G means.. ive never seen that message before.. and i have been running MIUI for 3 of the last 4 weeks.
something is trying to connect to the internet, or something is constantly connected to a URL and in the 3 second lag between WIFI and 3G its not connected.. that worries me..
Does that have something to do with frying the card? what url is the phone trying to connect to? what program? i havent downloaded anything new lately, and nothing out of the ordinary is in task manager...
Sweet! Seems to be a working exploit.

My sd card couldn't be read for a couple of days while I was on miui 7/22 and glitch a few weeks ago. Then I noticed one day it was working again. Maybe it was an mms that got it running
I just tried this method. Had my wife send me a video mms with my fried stock 16gb card in. I had the option to reformat after that, lo and behold it formatted, no problem.
What the F***!
Maybe now we can figure out how to address the problem so it doesn't happen again.
Edit: btw, I'm on 7/22 miui. I put my other card back in that I've been using and it said damaged, I rebooted and it came back. So for those who try this, don't freak out, just try a reboot if the same thing happens.

My card was damaged this morning. I am running cm7 7/14 with gb bootloader from jt and his v3 kernal. My friend messed his phone up at work and needed to borrow mine to edit a sdcard file. So I unmounted my card and removed it. Put his card in and mounted sd boom damaged sd card. Then put mine back in and it said damaged sd card. I left the card in and rebooted phone. The card mounted with no problem during the boot while u can see the lock screen.
Sd card works fine but I will not removing it again!!!!! That was a close call this morning. Hope this info helps someone if not I just got very lucky

I predict that you will have continuing problems with those SD cards now. While I was able to do the same with my backup SD card, it has continued to degrade. Certain apps can't access the card as of yesterday and CWM recovery is iffy on mounting it. Curiously, 4.0.1.4 (orange) is hit or miss, but 4.0.1.0 (blue) can access it but has trouble performing flashes or nandroid restores. Probably because we're not supposed to use three button recovery with jt's vanilla GB.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
from what it appears it depends on what happens exactly to the card...some people like me get the unrecognized/incompatible format - no sd card inserted error, and some get the sd card is damaged error.
so far from this thread, my card was completely fine (i had the incompatible format issue) with this "fix" and the damaged sd card that nobody could format is now formattable (is that a word?)
so i would assume a few things...
1. use mms video from another phone to send it to the fascinate with the borked card in the phone.
2. (TOTAL GUESS) you should probably be on the same build (e.g. miui/cm7) that you were on when it borked the first time.
3. it *should* give you the option to do something with it - either fix it, or be able to format it.
thats all any of us know right now. but whatever signal MMS videos send to the SD card to wake it up is what can be traced back to the system...maybe the SD card now gets the "SLEEP OF DEATH" like the system did with some kernels..deep sleep for the sd card? who knows...thats why i posted this in the DEV section..these devs are light years smarter at figuring this out than me. i know just enough to be dangerous
rock on..

Mr. Jake, I believe what you had, what I believe, is a soft-burned sd card. What this means is, reboots would have been a simple remedy for your "damaged" or "blank" sd card.
There comes a point when it's a HARD burned card and there's no turning back from it. If 5 reboots doesn't fix your sd card, might as well buy a new one, which is what I did.
this BURNING issue seems to be more apparent in the 8.5 MIUI. I'm hoping the 8.19 MIUI will fix the 3G glitches as well as a permanent proactive fix for the sd card burning problem.

cool cool.. i just got excited because it seemed to fix the issue first - and second, may give the devs the ability to find out what is causing the issue in the first place since they can trace a sd card commit that does *something* to modify the glitch..
something to work with is better than guessing..
im still learning this developing thing..so many failures and very few successes with modding for me.. so any bit of help i can give is something i treasure after getting so much from this group...
Hmm I wonder if this would work on the Inc2 to fix a borked sdcard.

Alright I've searched through XDA, and I'm sure this has been covered before but I couldn't find it.
Problem:
Booted up my phone (i9000T) up this morning and it started vibrating (the FC vibrating type feedback), and I was getting all these .com.Android errors (from the keyboard, to internal Android errors, to Pandora, to the keyboard again ETC). Eventually it kicked me back to the initial setup screen and all those errors kept popping up. (The last apps that I installed were 2 days ago, Shazam and Soundhound from the market)
Finally I said "Screw it", reflashed my phone in Odin, repartitioned, and reinstalled everything (since I decided to format my SD in the Recovery Menu too which I forgot that my TiBu backup was on)
Is my phone/SD Card dying, or WTF is going on? & How common does this BS happen to you guys?
A little background:
I had 2 different i9000m (bell) phones that died from the internal SD errors. When they were dying they went through this same startup BS as what happened to my i9000T. Eventually on the next reboot they would go through the "boot loop of death".
So I decided to go the "i9000T" route because I got really tired of my i9000m phones dying. So of course I'm very concerned about WTF is going on with my i9000T (since that phone isn't supposed to have the SD issues like the Bell)
My current Setup:
i9000T
Running one of the stock Froyo Euro Roms (I9000XXJPU) for a couple of weeks now
Added the I9000B_JPA_JP3_JPA_JPA_modem_850.zip modem to get 3G
Rooted with CF
Apps I have apx 60 or so (all from the Android Market) mainly general BS stuff like Launcher Pro, Smart Keyboard Pro, TV Guide ETC...
I mean I really LOVE the Galaxy S phones, but none of this stuff crapping out ever happened when I owned a Milestone, Desire, or even my Atrix.
My first 2 i9000M phones lasted a month, and now this goofy error happened right around the month mark for my i9000T too, but haven't received the "boot loop of death yet?"
Right now things "appear" to be fine after I reinstalled all my apps and settings again from scratch.
So as my bold question above states:
Any ideas what could be going on with my phone, and is this that common of an issue for the Galaxy S users?...
So how often does a stock ROM crap out for no reason for you guys?...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
I once had an error like that, which I thought was probably due to me messing up flashing in Odin. However, it hasn't recurred in a couple of months now, although I'm using the international I9000 and not the I9000T. Also, I've stopped formatting the internal SD during flash to increase its longevity, given I don't flash too often.

Hi all,
Got a major problem here, so I upgraded the firmware via OTA (no Odin, Kias, etc) and as soon as I unlocked the phone and started the decrypting process as normal the SD card went through the same process.
However, not the card can't be read! It just keeps saying it is being encrypted in the notification bar as normal but doesn't actually complete.
The card is a Samsung 64GB Evo card that I've had for maybe a year or 2 now. Worked perfectly until the firmware update.

Have you tried formatting the card?
The card is detected just that the content is gone. I rather not lose the content to me honest.
Plus, I'm quite concerned that if this could be done via an update rather than factory reset then it should be stated before clicking to update
In my S7E I have a 64GB Samsung Pro microSD formatted and filled of files when it was used in my previous non-Samsung smartphone (also running Marshmallow) and after the update I have no problems at all accessing the microSD content.
Sorry, I think there is some confusion.
I have a SD Card, it was reformatted and only ever since then used in my S7 Edge, since then it has always been encrypted.
Yesterday I updated the version via the normal Google update and somehow the card can't be decrypted anymore. I can be detected but doesn't appear to have content in gallery etc.
Have you tried to connect the microSD to a PC and check the content?
And what about this:

Did you previously encrypt your SD card?
On a computer the content is not viewable.
The card has never been previously encrypted on another phone. Surprisingly for since release day the card was in this phone encrypted no issues working perfectly. Only after yesterday's update did it stop working.
The usual notification of "Encrypting SD Card ..." was what I was referring to. The notification comes up as it always did but this time it doesn't actually allow me to access the content.

Galaxy S7 Edge Encryption/Decryption FAILURE
Experienced the exact same issue on my Galaxy S7 Edge with 64GB Samsung class 10 SDHC card back in March right after buying the phone. Reset, restored, wiped to factory setting. Would work for awhile, then when phone is restarted problem returns. Would have to reformat card and restore to factory before it would work temporarily. Contents of card could be seen when in SD slot on computer or in other phone, but encrypted files (of course) couldn't be opened.
Phone connected to computer and card contents couldn't be seen at all. Notification center shows "Encrypting/Decrypting SD card" all the time until pressed then it disappears, but when in Settings > Storage, portable storage just shows SD card "Ready," but when tapped nothing happens like it's not even mounted.
Called Google, transferred to Samsung. Samsung escalated issue. Update patch was pushed out within a few days. Applied and everything working no problems.
2 months later and everything has been working fine without hiccups, then new update 6.0.1 is released. Waited a day, then applied. Restart phone, same Encryption/Decryption problem returns!
Called Google, transferred to Samsung. Given support run around. Have to demand to escalate to upper level support. Guy says he'll escalatate; call back in a week, hasn't been forwarded. Have to demand to speak to tier 2 support AGAIN explained things at least 3 times and finally get guy to agree to escalate and says he'll send "email." Suggested he recommend engineering consider pushing another update like they had before to correct problem the first time, even gave previous case number. Calls me back in couple days after supposed escalation and says I have to format card and restore to factory. Let him know I wouldn't be doing that, because I've already had to lose too many pictures and documents!
Tried emailing Samsung Executive Customer Support, but haven't heard anything yet and couldn't confirm email. It didn't bounce back as undeliverable, so I'm hoping someone looks into it right away! This is insane! Why offer expandable storage if there's the potential for such a fatal failure. It's eerily critical this gets corrected!

Thank you for your inquiry. We certainly understand your concern regarding the functionality of your phone and SD card.
Please note, software updates for phones using the Android operating system are produced by Google and distributed by the service provider, such as Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint or AT&T. However, we will forward your feedback along to the appropriate parties for further review. Unfortunately, we are unable to speculate when/if a new software update may become available, but will provide you with feedback when/if it becomes available.
Thank you,

resolving sd card not able to decrypt/encrypt
Hi guys,
I've been following up with this thread waiting for an answer but I found something that works for me.
1) Set lock screen security to none, keeping fingerprint data.
2) Start encrypting the sd card AGAIN. It may fail, doesn't matter.
3) Restart phone and it will state SD Card was successfully encrypted.
4) Check your apps/gallery/images which was stored on the SD card. It should be there.
5) Decrypt your SD card.
For now I'll not encrypt the SD card till I'm confident it'll not cause any further problems. You may also wish to keep it encrypted and backing it up offsite.
Hope it works out for you guys.
I'm not able to post external links as I registered solely to inform of the solution. This is the best I can.

Thanks to you! Worked like a charm!
I won't re-encrypt my SD Card until Samsung addresses the issue.
