Problem with nook for android - Kindle Fire General

I cant get my books in the nook for aneroid to show the covers. All I get is the blue cover with the n on it. Can anyone tell me how to get the book covers to show?

If you're rooted you can download nook book cover helper from the market. Works like a charm.

Thanks. Guess I will have to root.

Thats the android market - i want the Amazon market that comes with the fire
Go to Amazon.com link below and enter your e-mail address in the 'Getting Started' box. It will e-mail you the Amazon AppStore APK.

Get your books via the Kindle App located in the Android market or Amazon AppStore.
Oops my bad.

Thanks terracode your awesome lol! I hate that Amazon wont let me get any of the '(Kindle Version)'s I bought :/ any workaround? Before I flashed cm7 i anticipated this happening and looked for an app that would let me back up my purchased apps without luck, i found some app that did app2sd but i couldnt figure out how to use it

Nook App on KF running CM7

I am running into an issue with the Nook app that I use to read magazines, since almost all the Magazines on the Kindle App are for Stock KFs or Ipads. Anyways, the app works fine after the initial install. When I go back to it later in the day, this is what I get.
I also have this same problem. Uninstalled nook app and the reinstalled it. It works fine after the initial install then gives you an error when you go back to it. Wont sync or allow you to shop at all.

I do have a trouble ticket in for it with nook. Let's see what they say.

After doing the MAC address fix, the Kindle App now thinks I am a Kindle Fire. The only reason why I had the nook app was to get Magazines. It appears to not be needed now.
NEVERMIND. It seems like I jumped the gun. Some of the magazines now are available for Kindle for Android.
So does changing the MAC address on the KFire help with getting amazon VOD? While I'm not a big fan of the Amazon bloat I would like to take advantage of the free month of Prime and the ability to stream videos, but I don't want to be stock to do it.
I think I solved one of the issues. Since I changed the MAC address, I have not gotten one error all day with several reboots along the day. Maybe the nook app used MAC address for something???
To get the magazines to appear right set the lcd density to 180.

Disguise my fire as an Android phone to use an app?

I am using the cm7 rom on my kindle fire. The one that whistlestop posted. I am trying to use an app from the Android market. I can download it to my fire but when I open it I get the message that it is not supported on this device. I know I read that it is not supported on tablets, but I was curious if I can "disguise" my tablet to look like an Android phone that is supported by the app. Thanks.

Which app are you trying to install? Have you tried getting the APK for it and manually installing it?
It is AppRedeem. On the info page the app says it does not currently support Android tablets but I wasnt sure if I could make my fire appear to be an Android phone so it will work. I have downloaded it from the market and I have also manually installed via adb with the apk but when I open the app it tells me it is not supported on my device.

Well I did some editing on my prop and manage to get my device to appear as a Samsung phone in the market but still no luck with getting the app to see my fire as a phone.

When I go to the Market it says it is compatible with the Kindle Fire both in stock and ICS. Just thought you might find that interesting.
app
Have you tried cm7 or miui? Both are phone roms tweaked a bit for phones and could possibly solve the problem. I think that the problem isn't making your kindle look like a phone because that would only allow you to download the app which you already did. Good luck
There is thread about getting apps to work on the ICS roms. I was gonna do some editing to see if I can get whatsapp to run on cm7. Same thing, tablets not supported.

Disregard that editing nonsense. Another thread specifically about whatsapp said to backup the app on a running phone with titanium backup and then send the three backed up files to the fire and restore app+ data. Worked perfectly.

Thanks guyute74. I dont have an android phone so I cant do it myself. If anyone with an android phone and titanium wanted to back it up and send me the files I would really appreciate it. Shoot me a pm and I can give you my email.

You know you're rooted when...

This thread is about humorous. You finish off this sentence starting with "you know you're rooted when..." the rest is up to you
Ill give an example
You know you're rooted when you're running ice cream sandwich before amazon knows about it.

you know your rooted when you have a $200 Ereader playing shadowgun and gta3 like a champ!
You know you're rooted when you have got playstore and superuser showing up on your home screen
And you look like a total boss because your running Cyanogenmod 9 and the guy with a NOOK next to you isn't.

You know your rooted when your phone is faster than superman on crack.
Oops im in the kindle thread.
You know your rooted when you can play draw something on kindle and your friends cant.
You know your rooted when you forget which xda thread your in.

You know you're rooted when, while using your iPod touch, you keep hitting "P" to backspace.
You know you're rooted when you wish you could send fastboot commands from your Android to fix your computer.
You know you're rooted when you sign your business letters with:

You know that you are rooted when you look at a ROM you just downloaded and can't remember which one of your devices it was for.
you know you're rooted when you spend more time tinkering to try to get everything "just right" than you spend enjoying it being "just right"

I bricked my Kindle Fire HD 7:(

I just ordered a factory fastboot cable which will be here by Jaunary 3rd, 2013 (I paid for 1 day shipping, yikes costy). Anyways can someone please point me to the images that I need and what to do with them with fastboot. Thanks, Nathan
Just use this, it does the work for you, assuming this is the 2012 model with a camera, otherwise I don't believe it has the images for the new one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888

Thank you but can you point me to the system, boot, and recovery.img files?
It downloads them for you off the internet, if you actually just want the images you can get them in kindle SRT utility. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254

Thank you, I run Ubuntu so I need the actual files. I'm not scared to use my keyboard. Also I don't want to deal with the stupid Java JDK thingy. Thank you so much
Now if only the Post Office would hurry up and get my cable to me.
